Some brand motherbands simply can’t fit a graphics card in due to nonstandard design, I’ve found out the hard way. Though I guess it doesn’t matter why; they just weren’t designed to be upgraded.

If you’re going to upgrade the motherboard, you might as well upgrade the whole thing. The card is too old, the ram is most likely DDr3. I would not trust the PSU with it, and the case itself might be nonstandard too. A good case isn’t very expensive and all we have left would basically be drives that you could definitely take with you. You are better off starting from scratch and hand the existing computer to someone that needs one.

R5 should be good, but until benchmarks come out, I can’t recommend it just yet.

My advice would be to go over to PCPartPicker and select the best AM4 motherboard platform for gaming.

Please be careful with advice like this. People might go to the store, ask for a great “gaming” motherboard and get directed to some $200 motherboard with crossfire/sli that they aren’t going to do anyways.

From the looks of it though, it would seem the b350 motherboards are the best bet, being affordable and also having the ability to overclock while still being cheaper than the Z series counterparts. It’d be safer when stuff gets tried and tested with more reviewers though.

lol, I’m not the least bit cranky. and if you read my post you would see I’m talking about perceptions, not necessarily reality. At the end of the day what people perceive becomes “their reality” regardless of the real truth. It’s just the way of life and calling people cranky isn’t going to go very far in the “let’s work together” side of things.

What is the point of appeasing people whose perceptions are independent of reality? There is another word for that sort of people: delusional

If people are so set on believing you are malicious, then anything you do can be misconstrued as such since they don’t care about the truth. Even doing nothing.

I don’t think resorting to be insulting people will be very productive.

The problem is that we don’t really even know what the reality is. We only know what we are being told and we have no way of really knowing the real truth. So while we are left with is perception.

It’s not an insult. It’s just simple logic. Perception being reality is fine, but if they’re so set in their ways, then nothing is going to matter. If one can go outside and tell me they’re a attack helicopter, then i’m going to take them as seriously as that. Likewise, if people are going to indulge in paranoiac fantasies in a video game, that’s fine too, but don’t disrupt my game based on them.

It’s just really hard to see how 85 hp/s is going to save anyone. I guess someone that is immune to condis and is plenty tanky already, but in those cases they’re probably better off adding something more group oriented or simply pile on more foods.

I really don’t see much of a point to mango pie myself. If you’re too poor for saffron bread, there’s always the ghetto Taragon Bread which is more or less free.

he actually changed power supply and then tried 3 different brands of 750ti but none worked.
thankfully he gave me my money back.
what im aiming is called innovator 5 extreme gamer 6400 not sure if its considered a prebuild or custom.

guess ill ask there if it can be upgraded in the future if i want to or its closed like a brand PC.
i had no idea brand PC`s cant be upgraded before buying one.

Depends on the brand. The big companies that churn them out like Dell or HP generally don’t have much customization, but the custom PC brands (yea, they’re prebuilt too but are more focused on putting in custom parts) tend to use standard parts though sometimes customized a bit. But everything is different. Although there are some things like hard drives/SSDs that are unlikely to be so oddball that you can’t upgrade them. But yea, if you can’t even get a 750ti in there, there’s just no hope.

Usually the later tend to be rather specific in listing their parts, while the big brands just are incredibly vague. For example, alienware has “Alienware™ 460 Watt Multi-GPU Approved Power Supply” ??? and then for $100 you can upgrade to another approved 850w supply. Unless someone actually knows what that is, I’d stay far away.

I looked up INNOVATOR 5 EXTREME GAMER 6400 but couldn’t find anything in English. From Chrome’s translate it doesn’t seem too bad though you may want to try upping to a bigger SSD (more than 200 GB) though not mandatory. The i5-6400 isn’t as ideal as the 6500 but it’ll work pretty good. I don’t know what that PSU is though.

ohh my bad didnt know it doesnt have any feedback in English then it must be store exclusive computer .
the most unknown brand is actually better i guess ,yes my computer atm is HP already upgraded to SSD and also upgraded the ram, but the door slammed in my face when i tried to upgrade the gpu.

the psu is 650W btw.

also i just discovered that i can build a pc as i want from that shop and also has ryzen processor to pick for 319 euros.

will that processor be reliable and good for gw2?

the only amd computer i had was a long time ago and it was really noisy and eventually died from overheating so dont know if i can trust that brand again.

If you want to spend a bit more, it looks like “INNOVATOR 7 ADVANCED 7700 – ?? WINDOWS 10” would be a good choice if you need Windows. Normally wouldn’t recommend the I7, but since the computer you brought up doesn’t have Windows, I figured it’d be a good part to brought up and the 7700 is somewhat faster than the 6400 and they’re charging more for stuff in between. If you don’t need windows I’d stick with the 6400.

They don’t seem to offer any SSDs above 120 gb without a huge bump in the price though.

I wouldn’t fault AMD necessarily. Even good brands of stuff can screw up and computers can have many problems— typically overheating is related to the build itself though I do believe there’s a meme about AMD running hotter— shouldn’t melt a properly maintained system though (Make sure to get the dust out from time to time.

Well, if the store allows you to build your own (is a physical store or online?) you could use those pcpartpicker links I gave above and see what most closely matches it. I wouldn’t get Ryzen 7 atm, though you may wait to want for the cheaper Ryzen 5,

Ah, prebuilts can be a pain to upgrade since some just aren’t designed for that due to non-standard sizes. (Or maybe because) Then again, given how many of them have questionable power supplies, it may not be a good idea to put expensive parts in them anyways. If you’re going to buy another prebuilt, if they can’t tell you speciifcally what PSU it is, do not buy it. Unless you like stuff exploding next to you (I have experience!)

In that case you pretty much have to upgrade. Perhaps you can salvage the drives.

And yes, you are more or less correct. I5 + 1050 is good. Feel free to link whatever you actually buy here. It’ll definitely be a massive upgrade over the gt 530.

PC for max settings

ArchonWing.9480

“Max” settings as in everything maxed out isn’t possible even on many high end PCs in crowded settings due to game limitations though certainly high fps outside of zergs is guaranteed on pretty much any new hardware. If you’re willing to turn down character model limit though, you don’t need too high end to get high settings— outside of that Gw2 isn’t that demanding of a game.

What you will actually get depends on the following

*Your budget.
*What other things you do on your computer (eg other games, opening 50 browser tabs in the background)
*Monitor Resolution (1080p, 1440p, etc)

Typically, folks recommend an I5 processor, being a quad core. The cool story is that Gw2 uses one core mainly, and uses up to 3 a bit. So naturally you want a fast core, and at least 3 cores. There aren’t any 3 core processors so…. 4 core it is.

So Quad core tends to be the best spot. I7s are quad cores that emulate up to 8 but as you can see here, that really doesn’t help if Gw2 only cares about 3. I3s are dual cores that can emulate up to 4, but that’s still not as good as having four real cores. (So it’s not just about fast cores, even though those i3s are often running faster but they’re still quite formidable regardless) As you’d expect the i5 quad core is in the ideal spot, and also isn’t as expensive as the i7s. I3s aren’t as good but they’re still pretty fast and will do the job.

Tl;dr I5-6500, i5-7500 are the typical options, I5-6600k and I5-7600k are more expensive options for overclocking and more power.

As for cards any new card released in the last year is fine. Starting with AMD’s Rx 460 and Nvidia’s GTX 1050— the later is a bit better but the AMD one is so cheap to pass up. For even more power there are the RX 470 or RX 480, or GTX 1060, but the AMD RXs are more cost effective atm. These cards run Gw2 while sleeping (and so can many older cards) so I think it is overkill to spend too much on a GPU for gw2 only.

tl;dr: Modern I5 processor, For GPUs below $300, AMD is generally the better choice but I do believe pricing is different in places so go with whatever is cheaper when you deal with equivalent cards. Getting an AMD card will also allow you to benefit from a Freesync monitor which is much more affordable than Nvidia’s equivalent thingy.

I’m not shilling for AMD at all. I have a GTX 1060 and it is great but looking back to it, AMD would have been the better buy in my location.

As a small warning, I would stay away from the 3gb version of the 1060. (Get the 6gb version or if you want to save money, buy one of the cheaper RX 470/480) It’s not really too big of a deal right now, and doesn’t really affect Gw2, but it may matter if you play other games in the future.

Example: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TJCfCy

If you are low budget, you may consider the new Pentium G4560 which is amazingly enough is almost as good as a Core I3 processor. (This is usually not the case) Example: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/W6VsxY May not be the best in the world, but for a low price, you still will get things looking good and still better than not having a computer at all.

Ideally, if you had the money you’d go for “K” processor that can overclock. This will maximize your experience for Gw2 due to it requiring a good CPU and overclocking a strong CPU. However, this requires a better cooler and motherboard: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/d4hRyf

Warning: These are just examples. Apparently they’re a bit dated. I won’t be held responsible for actual prices/compatibility.

Also, at this rate I recommend waiting a little more, as AMD is releasing new Ryzen Quad core chips that may prove to be very suitable for your needs.

Is a good generic food for zergs for the extra health and condi duration reduction if they don’t want to use the more expensive stuff. The feast is sorta expensive so you may want to try the cheaper version https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pot_of_Poultry_and_Leek_Soup though don’t just randomly drop this as it may overwrite better food. Put it at the exits to spawn or near disorganized zergs with no food buff on.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tray_of_Saffron_Bread
Cheaper anti-condi/CC feast

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Feast_of_Cactus_Fruit_Salad
Good for condi users or when you don’t have a zerg. It’s expensive as all hell though and is account bound, meaning you have to make it all yourself.

WvW - Superspeed Build?

in Engineer

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

It is absolutely not worth it to run any healing power or outgoing healing in that build.

Maybe this will be a thing the day blasting a gyro actually becomes a blast finisher.

The healing power isn’t necessary sure, and I think a healbot would be a pretty bad idea but I don’t think I made too many sacrifices here. It’s why I would go with celestial instead of something like nomads.

Outgoing healing I wouldn’t say it’s a bad idea. It’s 20% more healing from the 2 leaps and blast finisher you provide every 15s (and of which you can easily provide the water field if needed) and a somewhat more effective regen tick in conjunction with medical dispersion field and heal resonator.

Anyhow, it’s fairly trivial to change the sigil and food, of course.

It’s probably still worth taking perfectly weighted though; I’ll go change that.

WvW - Superspeed Build?

in Engineer

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

It’s more or less the same as the metabattle build except you take Final Salvo (SS on gyros), Rapid Regeneration, and Medical Dispersion Field. Then find crap to increase your outgoing healing, healing power, and just blow up your gyros. You sacrifice personal suitability for more group sustain.
Example:
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?vdAQFASncoCFpiVXBubBEqilKjK86yutTcZCgyjevj78G-TVCEABv/AAAVZQ76A6XlCtU6B/+DAcBA4SJoiqrQKA/WGB-w

Take Mecha legs if you get dumped in a crap group without swiftness, and take Elixir C over bulwark/e-gun if you can’t handle the condis. Otherwise, blast those light fields to remove a condi.

Unfortunately, beyond the superspeed, it really isn’t much more than that. I mean, if they didn’t take away gyro dazes to not make the explosions irrelevant but….

WvW Commander Build?

in Guardian

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

Since when was the commander ever expected to do damage? His job is to NOT to die and drive the zerg. Granted I hate zerging but I do remember most average zergs fall apart when a commander dies

You misunderstud him I think. What he mean is that a commander running 100% tank not will notice the dmg. and therefore not notice that he just killed his group by standing in heavy enemy dmg fields

That’s more of an issue of decision making rather than gear choice. Nothing mandates that you go full kitten if you have defensive stats.

Obviously if you go full selfish tank with no consideration of your group then you will all fail. But that’s usually not the case.

And the other thing to consider is how organized the group is. There’s a difference between disorganized groups where people are going to die anyways and your goal is to get the most use out of them as opposed to more organized ones where you can count on people delivering various things, and vice versa from you to them. The former scenario usually dictates more tank.

Things to try:
In Gw2

  • Setting Sound Quality to Lowest
  • Everything low, and subsample in graphics settings.

In Windows:

  • With Gw2 open, go back to your desktop and At the taskbar, right click and then select task manager. How much of your memory is being used? Then click on the startup tab. Usually HP installed a bunch of bloatware that doesn’t need to run and waste your CPU power.

I don’t think adding more ram would help that much, though depends on what else you’re doing. I have a 4gb HP laptop that runs at 20’ish FPS, maybe even 30 on a good day with things turned down. You’re most likely being limited by your laptop CPU.

AMD Ryzen performance in Tequatl

As a side note, is the i7-k processor really better than the i5-k processor for Gw2? I would imagine it runs into the same issue of those threads not being used. On my locked 4 thread i5-6500, I can never get Gw2 to use more than 75% so it seems that 3 cores is all that it really wants.

No one answered this, but the answer is no. You might see a slight increase because you can dedicate OS/other program resources to threads/cores not being used by GW2 but clock for clock an i5 and an i7 will get you the same performance in GW2.

I went from a 4.5GHz i5-3570k to my current 4.5GHz i7-3770k and there was 0 difference in GW2.

Thanks. I wanted to know because since this game is cpu heavy people tend to throw around “get an i7” which is already vague but now I know this info is misleading.

While we’re at it, do you think the new i3s and those hyperthreaded g4560s would do fine in Gw2? I know only 2 real cores would hurt but single core would still be strong. In particular, in comparison to someone that has an fx 8350.

I know a friend that built a cheap i3 system and I will probaly do some experiments

your suggesting its ok for pugs to have a potentially hostile atmosphere which is a bad thing in a community driven game right?

True story, 10 years ago people pugged in much much bigger raids and there was very little of the anti social behaviour we see now. Something changed, and that something has a lot to do with certain games and developers turning raids into a competitive thing (giving new skins with +x power is cheaper than developing new content)

I expect people to realize they need to be responsible for their own actions.

If you don’t want to drive fast, sure. But don’t go in the fast lane driving half the speed limit and pretend nothing is up. The converse is also true.

Both ends suffer from entitlement.

Imo, Pugging should be the party experience with the lowest standards, I view it much like Quickplay in OW; a space where you trade the quality of your teammates for party building expedience, which is why I’m against things like DPS meters that can be used by everyone.
I see people who use DPS meters in the same way I see scummy players who throw matches when they see a hero they don’t like.
To those who say “why should I carry someone?” I say, “Because you chose to pug” You wanted speed over quality, if you aren’t willing to put in the effort, why should you get a high quality run?

For those who are truly interested in self improvement, I’d say join a guild and form a team dedicated to that exploit. I’d even support Anet making a DPSmeter as a Guild feature, but as it is now, it makes the lives of toxic players easier, and fosters a negative atmosphere in the PUG environment which I don’t care for. Wasn’t there that test golem too?
I find the very notion that you should have to form a guild or network of friends dedicated to doing Casual party play ridiculous.

Almost there, but you’re missing half of it

I really hope you realize the same exact same argument could be used to kick someone.

“Why did I get kicked?”
“Because you chose to pug. They have no obligation to play with you. You wanted convenience over effort”

For those of you that don’t want a hostile atmosphere filled with picky people, I’d say join a guild dedicated to not worrying about being optimal.

What Happened to Hardened Leather?

Never really understood the QQ over this. What is it used for again?

All exotic armor, and moreso for exotic medium armor. And it’s also used in Exotic Bows, but to a lesser extent.

Most of these generally have named counterparts that have most of the stats that can be bought for much less than crafting it on the TP.

Crafting exotic HoT armor has generally been a waste of gold. I mean it could be for the min-maxing, but in terms of pve is there much use in anything besides zerker? I guess for raids, but raiders that can’t afford exotics?

So I was thinking is there any other use? The only thing I can think of is if you’re really into making exotic marauders. Or Nomads. Or Celestial, but exotic celestial was always trash.

It doesn’t make any sense to me to spend so much on exotics, even before hardened leather was cheaper.

The usual case of just because YOU see no reason in doing it, does NOT mean there’s no problem or reason to make a fuss about it.

Sure. But the burden of proof isn’t on me.

Exotic Zerker gear is always ~3x+ more expensive than, for example, rabid gear. (~80-90 silver). And while you don’t see the problem, I rather prefer, for example, exotic Marauder on my thief due to my low skill level (which will hardly increase due to my playing habits), and I don’t draw much please of farming gold non-stop during on-off gaming times, so going for Ascended’s intended gold-sink spiral is in my particular case out of question.

Well, first things first. Exotic Berserker’s is like what? 30 gold for a set. That’s the equivalent about half a month worth of dailies. If gold is truly a problem, then I would actually consider rares because armor is actually the least important equipment, and of those chest/legs/helm/boots matter more. Trinkets and weapons contribute more to stats anyways.

Second, I did bring up Marauders as one of those exceptions if you didn’t notice. But once you acquire the armor, that’s the end of that. It doesn’t require a constant stream of leather.

Third, if you want to save gold, there’s always mis-mashing Valkyrie (well okay, that’s sort of expensive for most parts) Soldier and zerker to nearly the same effect. I mean, if you have no intention of min-maxing, then I am not sure what’s the point in being so precise about these stats. I mean, sure Marauder may have better stats, but real world performance will be so marginal to the point I’d call it a placebo.

So why bother stressing over the details?
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?vZAQFAGl8MhCnYjTwzJWgJs5O4IcFqlACAZgtOwypDB-T1RDAB9o8DGVYEa/BAM/luOgEUC+i6DCCgcA-w

That is why I think there’s no point in attempting to spend that much in optimizing an area that really isn’t worth optimizing in the first place. (Exotic armor) Back when I had little access to guild commendations, most of my characters would wear rare acessories and skipped straight to ascended because I didn’t think the extra power from exotics was worth the time.

However, I’d also like to point out the fairly generous availability of ascended trinkets that are available in the new living world maps. Those do contain HoT stats and merely cost you your time.

But I agree that there are alternative ways, like the VB’s bladed armor where you can obtain most armor parts, without doing the whole meta (for the chest piece), karma if you have it en masse or find pleasure in farming it, and dungeons if you are into it.

Funny enough, I actually don’t consider these to be particularly fun options, unless people are into that sort of content. Karma armor also has the annoying trait of not being able to be salvaged.

Don’t forget stuff like guild hall upgrades and decorations, so actually fun extras ANet has put into the game for players to enjoy.

Well, unless you discover that e.g. chisels take huge amounts of leather squares to make statues. Just look at a god statue, which needs 30 Orichalcum Chisels. One chisel needs 4 Cured Hardened Leather Squares.
That’s around 120g for just the leather component of this decoration. Considering the rest needed to make e.g. A Balthazar statue, it does perhaps make up another 12g (max.), you can clearly see the leather problem. (Which is mainly with the neglected recipe, not the leather supply in general. But it shows how much Anet’s people are out of the loop with what “leather in general” generates problems)

That makes more sense. Scribe seems to cost an arm and a leg.

Minimum System Requirements is way outdated !

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ArchonWing.9480

So what would be the “recommended” specs?

OS: Windows 7 SP1 64-bit or newer
Processor: i3-2100 or better
memory: 6 GB of ram or more
Hard Drive: SSD with 50 GB or more of free space
Video Card (Gee, I don’t know anything about old cards). Gtx 750, HD 7770, or better

what your suggesting is something that will not work very long and would only need to be rewrote all over again . thus so this is my idea of new low end specs

OS: Windows 10 64-bit or newer

I-5 Intel Core i5-7600K Kaby Lake Quad-Core 3.8 GHz LGA 1151 91W BX80677I57600K Desktop Processor

or AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0 GHz (4.2 GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W FD8350FRHKBOX Desktop Processor

memory 16 gigs of CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 × 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9

hard drive space of 200 gigs or more . same for SSD drives and

MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4G VR ready

Sorry, that’s not a “low-end” spec list, though to be fair, it’s not even a list for any spec of anyone. Hint: A 7600k with that ram doesn’t even work.

Windows 10, lovely system, but why?

You mention 7600k and FX together. Sorry, lol. Those are not anything resembling equivalent nor do they fit together in a “low” end spec. Or even high end. You could at least mention the upcoming Ryzen 5s Why 7600k? Are you telling someone with a 4690k to ditch it and get kaby lake instead? What if someone sees, yo, I only have a 2500k, let me “upgrade” to a fx-8350.

GTX 970??? So people can buy a GPU fall asleep for Gw2? Now, I only have an old 1680 × 1050 monitor but my 1060 might occasionally approach 1/2 load in the most intensive WvW big fights. Either card is overkill and will always be until they rewrite the game engine. Pro Tip: Don’t buy a new 970

Why 16 GB of ram? Nice to have but Gw2 uses like 2-3. Also, I’m not sure why it is so specific.

You’re going to burn holes in casual players’ wallets. Please do some more research.

The point of recommended specs is to inform people rather if their old computer can play Gw2 and maintain a decent experience (30+ fps at 1080p). Nobody is going to go out and buy a new i3-2100 since anyone with 1 good eye will see they can buy the newer i3s for the same cost. However, they might see that their Core 2 Duo is too old and they can go improve their experience by getting a new i3-7100 or Pentium G4560 and enjoy a new experience for cheap. But someone with an i3-4160 is going to be like “oh, I guess I’ll hang on to this until it breaks”

200 gig space when Gw2 needs 30?

Likewise, someone with a GTX 460 or something is going to go out and pick up a nice little Rx 460 for $80 and enjoy a modern card that can play new games. But someone with a 950 or 1050 can stay put and wait before upgrading.

How does your list help anyone choose anything?

If you desire silky smooth 60 fps at ridiculously high resolutions, then sure get the latest and greatest, but why would Anet here or anyone else need to inform you of that? You’d do it anyways. Yes I know new AAA titles ridiculously bloat their recommended to get you to buy new computers, but this is a 5 year old MMO where accessibility is a priority

In all seriousness, allow me to revise this.

“Power Settings”
Windows 7 64 Bit or Higher
2nd generation Intel I5 or I7 Processor or newer or Ryzen
8 GB of ram
50 GB of Free space, SSD
GTX 760 or R9 270 or better

I mean you could do such a thing, but really, is it worth the effort?

Special Access Pass: why I've not bought one

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

We only need more scroll, I have bought my royal pass and I’ll dance between bloodstone fen, ember bay, bitterfrost frontier and lake doric to farm rare gear.

My biggest hope is the creation of home instance asura gate for HoT maps.

Extremely unlikely imo. It would cut into their sales of the gemstore Home Instance Portal Stone that lets you go there and return to the map you were on.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Home_Portal_Stone

Do people actually buy that thing? It seems pretty useless since home instances don’t actually have many services and of the home instances have horrific placements for nodes and such; though I guess you can go back into town for free. I don’t see it being any more useful than EOTM or HOTM.

The special access passes at least have the gimmick of being a VIP area. And the forge.

I bought one and have it in a shared inventory spot. It’s a convenience item and makes going to your home instance to merch (if it has one), harvest for a daily and repair (if it has one) then return to your map simple and easy. Mostly it’s for the harvest for daily and return ability.

Well, if node access is the priority here, I don’t think it overlaps too much with the passes even if they could instant return. Except the Royal Terrace but the human portal instance isn’t particularly convenient anyways.

I would personally never buy the stone myself, unless the fix up the placement for some of the home instances. The Norn one wants to make me cry.

Yah. It’s only of real use once you get a fairly well set up home instance. If you don’t, then it’s pointless. My H.I. has a fair number of nodes. Enough to either get a full or 90% harvest daily so I use it every day that there’s a core Tyria harvest daily. For that it’s very nice.

Well, I suppose I shouldn’t have worded it strongly. It’s just that 900 gems + setup costs just is too rich for my blood.

But I think that they target different audiences and I was thinking it wasn’t something on the casual player’s menu as it’s a very high end luxury item that requires a lot of setup. Well, the Royal Pass is a luxury item too I guess…

That and I don’t have any Asura toons. That would drive me more to it but I’m lame and have like 8 humans.

[QoL Request] Laurel Vendors

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

This is a pretty minor issue, but I’d like to point out that the Laurel Vendors in WvW and PvE sell somewhat different things and I don’t really get why. You have to go into WvW to buy WvW infusions, and go to the pve one to buy other infusions such as Magic Find or whatever.

Now, this isn’t really a big issue, since it’s not hard to switch maps. Unless you are in a queue and can’t leave the WvW map.

On the surface level, it makes sense to sell WvW specific things in WvW and PvE things in PvE, but before you go “hurf durf, I don’t care about WvW”, consider there are things that affect even non-WvW’ers. If you buy them in WvW, you can buy them for 25 Laurels + Badges, but they cost 30 laurels normally. Amulets can also be 5 laurels cheaper. But how is anyone supposed to figure that out normally? Considering you can get badges without playing WvW, it means players could have saved laurels without knowing it.

Weirdly enough, the Laurel Vendors in PvE do sell siege blueprints for the low low price of 2 laurels each (?)

Would it be possible to just make both types of laurel vendors sell the exact same things?

Stunlock Needs to Go

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

I think the point of the “sheer excess of CC on some enemies” is that there are other ways to deal with CC. If I get stunlocked nowadays, I consider that my fault, not the game’s — it means I wasn’t paying attention to my surroundings and that I let myself get into an area where I could be CC’d to death.

Indeed, I can’t really see how this is a problem. In PvE, most of the stuff is telegraphed, and I can remember being CC’d in LS3, but I’ve never been stuck. The grand majority of pve enemies do not attack that fast as in to chain it. Also, the centaur stampeders? The ones that move in a set pattern? Really? What about not faceplanting into them?

Then again, I pass through entire zergs in WvW on toons with bad stability uptime, so this kind of thing seems to be a L2p issue to me.

I guess it’s probably an issue in PvP where multiple foes have their strict attention on you.

I imagine most people’s problems in the thread will be solved if they pick up some kind of movement boost (25+%) or whatever because they will be able to better move out of bad spots and thus not get CC’d in the first place. I also imagine they’re not using food that would make some fights much easier.

You know, I always thought the gripes on both sides, both “Omg I am only getting dps nubs in my party kick kick” and “Omg I kept getting kicked by mean pplz” seem to share the same thing and that is that they are putting their fates in the hands of random people. Trusting random people to treat you well is a complete gamble.

The solution is of course, to get friends, or find a group that you will have agreed to expect a certain atmosphere and performance. And especially in content where performance actually matters, this seems pretty critical. Toxic people are toxic no matter what and short of banning them from abusive behavior, there is little that can be done.

Then again, it’s also not surprising when neither group has many friends to begin with… I wonder why!

Stop playing the victim and only associate with people worth associating with. Also lol@ the legality part. Excuse me, but when you join group oriented content like that, it’s no longer about yourself since what you do does directly affect other people. You don’t have a right to the privacy of that, as you don’t even own anything involving the game itself. Arenanet does.
