I am actually looking forward to the day when the grenade kit gets nerfed into the ground or gets a re-work. That thing has hung like a specter over the class since day one.

Couldn’t agree more. Most probems with “kits” are really problems with grenade meta. Fix grenade, fix the prof!

Very interesting idea in the base, although I would not implement most of your specific examples.

Sample Case:

Are eles glass cannons? I got the idea they had truly superb sustain? When this got changed?

Ele has sustain if they trait for it which means they lose dps and also means they are swapping to earth and water which means more lost dps vs a warrior that doesn’t have to do anything other than use normal skills. At this point, being an ele is like being a korean star craft player on the keyboard while other classes can do 1/4 the work for the same output.

So… nerf warrior?

That’s true, Ceera is clearly still in love with her late husband.

However, that love can still originate and be defined by their projects, ideas and ways of understand the world. Love doesn’t have to be eternal, romantic or physical to be true: Ceera can be suffering for all the amazing crewe work she was still wanting to do with Tonn when the commander failed to save him. This is love too.

I like to imagine Asura that way, capable of a practical love born from the creative spark two people can cause each other.

However, this doesn’t have ANYTHING to do with the OP, so I better shut up.

I think kits are extremely important and a defining feature for Engie, but I don’t think embracing that and making it the focus of the development has to be necesarily about DPS. In fact, I would like to see kits tweaked away from mere DPS, begining with a proper fixing of the Med Kit.

I don’t pick kits for DPS. I don’t think that is their reason to be. I pick them for variety of actions available, speed of access and fun.

Another good reason for choosing engie is those few JP sections that are in darkness. Flamethrower autoatack isn’t exacly a good lintern, but it DOES gives you enough light to explore some of those areas, easy and quick. The Obsidian Sanctum in particular, I did it using this cheat.

Using an AOE target to show the shapes of the terrain in that Pirate JP obscure section is another of my favorite tricks.

It is useful to note that Mesmer and a couple of other classes can equip a torch, and torches do light up the ground in a radius around you. This works in the obscured section of the pirate JP. If you are not on a class that can equip torch, though, some flaming weapons like Honor of Humanity and Cobalt have the same effect.

To the person who mentioned the Experimental Teleportation Rifle, there is a second consumable that allows you to make leaps to TARGETED locations instead. The Experimental Rifle is a purchasable consumable from a vendor that appears after successfully completing a boss event at the Risen Chicken Coops in Cursed Shores (If you see the veteran chickens the event has failed and you will have to wait after defeating them for the real event to appear.) The targeted long-distance leap that this rifle gives can trivialize MOST JPs as long as you cast a stability skill before using it (sometimes it can explode and knock you down instead.) It makes any class viable for JP completion.

Even without this a number of classes have hidden leap skills that can, if used correctly, make some long distance leap/skips possible. Engi Rifle ofc, Ranger longsword (have to animation cancel with weapon swap), Guardian Greatsword, Warrior Sword, Thief Staff. Consider traveler runes to gain an extra utility while still running a speed boost, or ofc snowfall runes if you fall a lot. Chronomancer has move speed baseline, but mesmer itself doesn’t have as reliable a permanent speed boost.

Engineer Rifle is one of the beast targeted leaps in the game as it not only lets you ground target at decent distance, but it also gains elevation, rather than being restricted to a vertical plain like most other classes and their leap skills. Thief staff 5 does exactly the same without a cool-down, plus evades attacks in between. Dragonhunter’s f2 leap also gives targetted vertical leaping, for a much longer distance than thief or engineer, but has a longer cooldown than both. Greatsword can be targetted, though, by having scepter on weapon swap. Ground target scepter two, then swap and use greatsword leap. You will jump to where scepter two targeted.

Excelent info!!

Healing Power should affect the number of condi stacks that are cleansed.

healing power is for healing, condy removal is for conditions. You can also already get condy removal with healing in some skill trees.

There isn’t an attribute that controls that Condi Removal. It is present on skills and traits, always with fixed numbers. IMO that number should be tied to Healing Power, making this attribute more relevant and the approuch to condi removal more involved with the rest of the game mechanic, less arbitrary.

It could even simplify the removal game design, dividing it into categories (strong, medium, weak), and applying HP as a multiplier.

Do you want to be good removing condis? you need to have decent Healing Power.
Alternatively, they could directly add “Condi Removal” as a new attribute. I think if would make way more sense than most of the actual ones.

IMO this options could make more armor stats interesting to have, counteract the Zerker/Viper overabundance, create a new way to regulate the tank meta, and over all, open new builds for every profession.

Don’t be afraid to make tests. Choose the one you think could be better for you, and level it from the base. Then use other character slot just to try builds and professions.
The booster would allow you to make this. As long as you don’t confirm what you are using in the silverwastes, you could save it for later, and try whatever you like in the 80 level.

In other games rpgs I tend to play the stealthy ranged type, and go all silent sniper style, opening the path one unsuspecting victim at a time.

In fight games I’m always going to choose the weirdest and/or more complex character to play: from Lei Wulong to Arakune, and Voldo too.

In GW2 the system is soo clear and precise, so complex in the way of mixing just a few well thought inputs, that It is like a combination of rpg and my beloved fighting games.

So I can play thief, mesmer and necro as much as I want, but in the end my main will always be the more complex and weird (And FUN) underdog of all the professions: Engie is just the best.

Best class for JP, Mesmer: portal and fall damage reduction trait.
Best race, Asura: just make the tiniest asura ever, and you’re gold.

I usually prefer Engie, though: Engie’s rifle 5 is still the best jump skill, IMO.
Also: permaswiftness is really easy with Engie’s streamlined kits, and you have some very decent sources of stealth if you need to skip mobs.

Stalker sound right in the Whispers area of work…

I decided my characters would be somewhat contrary to the norm, and their presonality grew around that.

The three are asura, but they are way different:

My Reaper is an old, cranky and obsesive guy from the College of Statics, always looking for stability and simplicity, and people to scare. He joined the Vigil because they are simpler, cleaner, predictable, and strong. He saw his minions, soulstealing and frightening shouts could become a nice complement to the fairly mundane tactics of the army.

My Guardian is a giant of an asura, as tall as a little human, and as dark as tar. He’s an extremely idealistic and benevolent member of the College of Synergetics, who decided to join the Whispers for 2 reasons: 1- He think he can be both a good sword and a moral compass for the order. 2- He fell in love with the fast, natural and unpredictable schemes proposed by Agent Batanga.

My main is a really short female Engineer from the College of Dynamics. Since she likes to experiment new things all the time, exploring the world became her major focus. She joined the Priory because she though they could support her search for knowledge, while she could offer them a good flamethrower to deal with all the dangerous things that populate the fringe of the known world.

Female charr and outfits.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ardid.7203

Ardid.7203

if they went the ESO route and made outfits equal among all genders, we would both gain double the amount of outfits we have now, and people could choose the one they prefer for their character, no matter their gender.
there are lots of male armor that people would prefer on their female toon, and the other way too.
but I guess we’re still in the 1960’s and females should wear short skirts and guys should cover themselves completely because that’s what everyone wants…

This.

If they’re going to make 2 separate outfits then make and sell 2 separate outfits and let both sexes wear them. And if you have females wearing pants and males wearing dresses, then c’est la vie.

And this.

Armor should really be worked to fit the different races, not only hastily stretched. That means they should design HOW each culture would take the theme of that specific armor, lorewise, before adjusting the 3d model.

I know it would lead to slower armor release, but I don’t really care. Right now I’m not buying any of the outfit they are puking every few months, anyway. They come one after another, and I can’t value them precisely because they are being made without enough care, just as cheap, mass produced, easy to sell, non combinable and low quality trinkets. Any improvement over this would be welcome.

Elite spec suggestion: The Alchemist

Ardid.7203

Why do you choose the mechanic to be something you only use when you have failed to keep yourself alive? Don’t get me wrong: I think those are very good ideas. But I think they are suited to be traits or skills, not the whole elite spec mechanics. Not if they are just automatic lifesavers for when dropping to 0 health, at least.

An elite mechanic must be something that:
- Is visually interesting, a clear trademark for the Elite spec.
- Truly change how you play the profession, afecting all the other areas of the gameplay.
- Is active and doing something relevant most of the time.
- Is usefull in all game modes.

I dind’t make this list out of nothing. This is an amalgam of the complains people posted here in the forums, and of the objectives the devs themselves declared for the Elite Specs.

If you can make your ES mechanic to fit that list, I asure you it will be great.

Except weapons got to be shrinked or it’ll clip through the ground. Human bodies are like long thin sticks in comparison to stubby Asurans – my dualwielded tiny Hopes already pretty much reach the ground.

A proper scaling on a 3D environment doesn’t include only sizes. It MUST include also positioning and animations. Tall basket players and short jockeys don’t wield sticks in the same way.
