that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”

Yeah i do not see how it could break the game in any way to be honest but it give a lot more build options.
Any good Engie could design a dozen op builds by using an utility intead of an elite. Just think on a 4 kit build, or an HGH with 1 extra low CD elixir, or simply your classic burst grenadier build, plus an extra stun breaker. Or any decent build, with a slot only for slick shoes.
Elites are ok, right now… but their CD make them less useful than a utility skill.
Asking the devs to comunicate officially through this forum instead of unofficialy through reddit.

You just need to understand that in this game, speed, health and damage are tradeoff of each other. You can’t have it all. And that is good.
An airscrew propeller “glider” would be really awesome.
If it is an holographic propeller, it would be even more awesome.
This is hilarious.
Mine is FG is the weakest of the Elite Specs Mechanics, so bad designed even an optional skill can be compared to it.
If you DONT see Elite Spec Mechanics as something that should be really noticeable and highly relevant, my point is moot.
IF Anet really decide to expand underwater, I really hope the new playable race are the Quaggans, and not the Largos. I prefer cute rabid manatee than emo fishy drow.
Loot? Who cares about loot? Of course, getting a precursor would be amazing, but I don’t think I will be “thrilled” about it. I felt thrill when discovering new things on the maps, or when I finally get to overcome some challenges.
Yesterday I finally had the luck to fight the Regurgitant with a decent pug and defeat it. That was thrilling. Maybe my thrill thresold is too low? or high? Don’t know.
I’m not very interested in the gloem thing, but that propeller is awesome.
“Search and Rescue” is not Druid depending. Any ranger can use it. I don’t think a Druid would really need it. And it is ok, because its function is not the same as an Elite Spec Mechanic.
Elite Specs WERE promoted as new ways to play every proffession, and there WAS and emphasis on the Spec Mechanics as fundamental to that, because they (and traitlines) are the only non optional aspects of each Elite Spec.
When I talk about visual and identity, I talk about things that say to you “Oh, that is clearly a -introduce elite spec name here -”. For most Elite Specs, is their special mechanic (As it was suposed to be). For Scrappers, is the Hammer. If you don’t take a Hammer, nobody thinks of you as a Scrapper, and in fact, your gameplay will be just the same as a normal Engie… Because the scrapper mechanic in not doing it’s work properly.
I think you an me see the Elite Mechanics in totally different ways. I see them as things that should completelly change how I play my character second to second, no mater what weapon I choose or wich mode I am (And IMO, most of they actually DO that). You seems to see them as incidental aids that are good only because they don’t use skill slots.
And of course we can stomp a few Nightmare guys in a few very specific locations. That will make the F-Gyro so extremely useful in PvE.
Even if you buy all the shared inventory slots, there are still much more than just 5 kind of keys. Just the new maps sum at least 4, plus silverwastes, plus dry top, plus aether, drwarven, etc, etc, etc…
I think before Arena Net can even put their hand into making a new playable race, they will need to adress the many temporal inconsistencies in the game.
IMO, the most probable scenario is an expansion fully advancing GW2 in time to a date a few years after the Mordremoth fight. I can imagine them creating a whole new set of PS shorter and more culture specific, similar to the first arch of the actual PS, without involving anything major about the Pact, Dragons or metastory.
Only that way they could fully control what happen in the world again, including (but not limited to) new races, further story archs, more dragons, new continents, etc.
So, this thread was open by a Gorg?
F-Gyro has a CD of 20s, with 10 secs of acivity each time, according to wiki info.
Which is the range of the Function Gyro?
Can the ranger select a different skill when needed without having to re-spec a whole line?
Have the Ranger to manually select which ally to revive?
Can the Function Gyro stomp anything in PvE?
Was the “Search and Rescue” skill ever promoted as a “gamechanging mechanic”?
Does the “Search and Rescue” skill has any role in the labor of adding visual impact and identity to the Druid?
The problem is the F-Gyro is like a “Search and Rescue 1.2” . When it should be a whole spec mechanic.

I’m amazed some people find fences to be so comfy.
New race personal preference line, beggining by the most interesting to the most boring.
Steam Creatures > Skritt > Tengu > Golem > Quaggan > Hylek >> Karka >> Dredge >> Ogre >>> Harpy >>>> Centaur >>>> Grawl >>>> Dwarf >>>>>>>> Krait >>>>>>>>>> Jotun > Moa > Everything Else > Kodan >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ooze >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Largos

I’ll just copy here what I imagined while writing on other thread.
Base Proffession: Engineer
Elite Spec Name: Tracer
Weapon: Daggers
New Skill Type: Trail
Mechanics: Put Toolbelt Skills on cooldow to keep your Trails On.
The new elite spec, the “Tracer”, moves deftly while spinning her Daggers at superspeed to form overheated, hyper-sharp edges that leave a laser-like trail on their path. The blades themselves are good at piercing armor, but the main potential of the spec lies into the laser tracings left on the floor, walls and envirormental objects, which pulse with damage for a time and can be used for area denial, to set up traps and to force defense skills from the enemy.
Think of a really mobile melee fighter that closes range through quick, short runs which happen to leave behind a bright damaging line, just like the Mordrem Sniper or the Teragriff ones.
Positioning and atention to the surrounding space become fundamental, and you also have to be able to properly administer your toolbelt/trace cooldowns to maximize efects and minimize costs.
Visually, I supose it should look like a cross between GoGo from the Big Hero 6 movie and the Tron motorcycle … not bad for an Engie, IMO.
(PS: In fact, any of the chars from the Big Hero 6 movie would make a really amazing Engie spec, including Yokai…)
(edited by Ardid.7203)
Hmm. - It has to be something mainhand (at least), capable of add some versatility and work well with both the OH Pistol and the OH Shield.
- It must be very different form MH pistol, so it shouldn’t be full condi or full ranged.
- It should be a weapon already in game (Athough I would love chain-weapons or boomerangs, lets make this thread less utopic).
- Since we already have a bludgeoning melee weapon with the hammer, it should be piercing or slashing.
- Since we have a lot of ground targeting kits, it should not excel on that.
- Finally, it should NOT in ANY way, feature AI.
I think sword, axe and dagger all could work, as long as their skills are Engineer-y enough. IMO the main part is not really the weapon, but what this new tool would DO. Clearly, it should be fairly intertwined with the new Spec associated and its spec mechanic…
What about this:

I get it.
Psizone is saying that NOT ONLY “Search and Rescue” does a better job than F-Gyro, it
is ALSO optional. You aren’t forced to take “Search and Rescue” when you play PVE, for example, or if you don’t expect your allies to fail and die often. And it is not fixed in your build when you choose to play Druid. Nice.
I see, I see! I would love the F-Gyro to be that way.
You need to see more movies. There is a difference between a predictable ending and a “round” ending. Both close things neatly, but one do so in a cliché and not interesting way, while the other blows your mind without abandoning logic.
The problem here is Anet is abusing the predictable ending style…
Our selection of trenchcoats is nice. The problem isn´t that. The problem is we barely have anything else….
I also use FT to CC, for a well timed Blind, or to go through blocks and walls…
I usually run both. You got to share the stability, you know.
I’m just learning to use Scrapper. Although I find the Hammer fun and relaxing, the spec is clearly not for me. I prefer real mobility, where I have to control where I’m going intead of letting the computer leap for me, and I don’t like neither the Gyros or how the Scrapper seems to be so narrow focused around PvP play. I must admit: in a totally irrational and uncivilized way, I simply DESPISE the F-Gyro.
That being said, I think the Hammer is way, way, vaaastly superior to the Nades. Nades are efective and “classic”, and a lot of builds still use them. I still use them in most of my builds, in fact. But they are inmensely BORING.
I just wish Hammer were a Kit. It would be amazing.
I think they need to port this whole forum to the new site once and for all, and began to answer questions in the official forum instead of reddit. As it is now, this site is just a sort of contention cage for complainers (justified or not).
Great mobility, multiple alternatives available all the time, positioning play, good kiting, lots of aoe options, lots and lots of CC, non repetitive play, a good measure of weirdness and chaos.
After 2 year playing GW2, FT+Rifle Engie is still my favorite.
I’m glad the default colors are so close to the ones I use, but I still think they should always allow us to dye every part of every item. Of course, weapons too.
Don’t forget if you take Scrapper new trait you could get 3 secs of Quickness. Time it well and you could use it to land that 3d crank blow, cripple your opp, then change to the “normal” big damage skills.
Camping FT is the only natural choice, IMO. It IS a flamethrower, for the Eternal Alchemy.
In this game holding the jump key doesn’t make you jump higher, so you just need to get accustomed to it.
On the other hand, it would be really awesome if Anet decide to add some kind of “shorter hop” to the game. In this case, of course the auto deply should be adressed.
But I doubt it will ever happen.
I’m particularly fond of the Beaded Weapons . They are hard to combine with armor, but the result can be really great.
So, after the awaited patch, we are still stuck with an Elite Spec Mechanic that:
- Is not visually interesting nor make the Scrapper stands out.
- Doesn’t change the way the Scrapper plays from the way the Engie plays.
- Has a bunch of basic UI problems.
- Is not useful on (more than) half the game.
- Depends on the players doing things wrong.
- Its used at most a couple times every play session.
- Is designed to be inferior to just doing it yourself.
- Is not reliable.
Meanwhile, mere utility skills out there get very interesting changes:
" Ranger
Search and Rescue: This skill has been reworked. It now commands your pet to teleport a nearby fallen ally to your location and then begin reviving them while granting regeneration to allies. "
IMO, this is like a very well polished, metal pointed, 5 kilograms biker’s boot in the face.
Please discuss. I would love to be proven wrong.
- Create new Character and level it.
- Do the Personal Story.
- Participate in a Guild.
- Do some PvP.
- Use an Event Timer.
“His name is Robert Poulson”
I want a full shaved style for my exotic dark godess Revenant. Half shaved really don’t work.
Also I would love to make some Asajj Ventress, Ripley and Furiosa homages.
What’s the point of a map you can just walk through without even thinking? So you can press “r” and afk while exploring?
Lately I feel most people want all maps to be just a white plain without any obstacles, filled with static mobs that doesn’t aggro and die with just 1 hit.
I thank the mystical forces this game doesn’t have “wow style” maps. Why would I want huge, empty, pointless and boring maps?
Blade, I reccomend you to play a Thief or Mesmer for a while, then go back to the Rev.
My pink Quaggan raves while floating through the air. She´s the best.
As far as I know they are working on the second generation elite specs they hinted that one spec might get tomes as a weapon or mechanic.
That really sounds interesting, indeed. Do you have a source?
On east Tarir, while waiting for the rest of the lanes to burn the octavines, the updrift fills with beautiful floating trees. It’s just another day on the golden city.
Yeah, lets be happy, people .
You should bump one of the older threads with this same requirement. We are wainting for this almost 3 years.
Hate the show. Love the Rytlock.
+1
Beautiful. Everything is perfect and fine tuned now. The last patch really balanced things out so there aren’t dominant builds on PVP. With the new mechanic they added, our F-Gyro is not situational anymore, and we use in PvE all the time. There aren’t bugs or glitches worth of mention. The elite spec is beautiful to watch and have a great personality, fully ingrained with the mechanic aspect.
And we also have duels, player housing, sit-on-chair animations, and a pony.

I don’t think the community is “great”. People is people, some are good, some bad and most are neither. This game allows you to cooperate with others instead of constantly forcing you to compete, so we have more room to be “decent”, that is all.
In other words, I believe the GW2 community is better than in other MMOs, simply because the community on those other MMOs is horrible to the extreme. We are just normal.

Gameplay is clarly the priority, but aesthetics are also important, and become more and more necessary as the lifespan of the game extends. Im sure they will add a new race at some point
Also, consider Anet have the gameplay aspect is finally “solved”: next expac WILL feature more elite specs, more masteries, access to a new weapon for every proffession, more maps, more adventures, and more raids. It would be lame if they don’t add something MORE, something extra, unexpected and aesthetically refreshing. So they will need to include a new playable race, able to re-charm everything else just by being available.
If said new race will be the Tengu, revamped Quaggans or even Steam ceatures, I don’t know. But the game is going to need it eventually.
Also consider two things:
1- The classes in this game don’t really determine your look: you could look “nature-oriented” with almost any proffesion as long as you get the proper gear.
2- The game expect you to change your build and gear to adapt to different situations. After completing the training, you can change your build at any time you are not in combat, swap your weapon and armor set totally, etc. You can easyly change from a full-power ranged bearbow ranger into a melee condi draketorch one, and then into a healbot sustain Druid in less than a minute.
As others have pointed before, I strongly suggest you to test every proffession (You can easyly do it on PvP mode, if you are not P4F, I strongly reccomend to try it.) and imagine how they will look quith the proper equipment. You still will need some time to truly appreciate the particular gameplay of every proff, but its a better start than just picking what you think you are familiar with. (You think, because GW2 is really really different from any other mmo).
Have seen much better (i.e. no crashes) performance since switching to this client 5 days ago.
However, the news page @ login never comes up…
I don’t see the news page at login either, and I haven’t installed the 64b client, so I don’t think those two are related.
Please make more jumping puzzles. Seriously, I love how so many things in this game require you to actually maneuver in 3 dimensions. Gliding is simply amazing gameplay, the jumping puzzles are extremely fun, and the whole platform aspect of the game forces you to think and judge instead of blindly runing forward.
Also, people, please stop keeping the space bar pressed when you jump. It doesn’t make you jump farther, and it makes the glider to pops out in the top of your jump. You have to press and release the space bar inmediately, then control your course with directional keys.
I got it at the third attempt. But my 2nd try was bugged (Chest didn’t appeared even with gold completion).
