that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”

Direct question to the mods. Is this the official forum or not?
I love how Ephemeral Wallaby ends every of his/her posts with “EW”. Very expressive.
RNG in the game is working properly. The problem is RNG will always be the worst alternative to manage rewards.
Can I research more so I find the things I need are already there sooner?
There’s a simple reason why the advanced Logistics Mastery doesn’t work in WvW, and it has nothing to do with it being too hard to code, or ANet not being bothered.
Mastery Tracks are a PvE system, equivalent to WvW Ability Tracks. Therefore PvE Masteries don’t work in WvW, for the exact same reason that WvW Abilities don’t work in PvE.
If Gliding and Autoloot (and any other future PvE Mastery that might be useful in WvW) are to be introduced to WvW, they would have to come via a new WvW Ability line.
You missed the point completely. This “mastery” is something that should be in settings. An option “automatically pick up loot” and done.
QFT
IMO anet keeps the variety limited in this “not ovbious” way so they can sell more outfits to the discontent.
I think the word “focus” in the name is doing a really poor job at selling this idea, dlmoore.
The idea itself is great, and many people before have manifested interest in it, although a lot haven’t noticed what they were talking about : most of them have, as an example, proposed “Tomes” as new weapons. Others have mentioned “Flaming Orbs”, or even “Floating Skulls”.
In the end they are all just skins for the same weapon you sugest: a magical weapon that your character holds to his chest with one hand, while gesturing around with the other.
I imagine this weapon as a ranged, big damaging but slow artifact, which allows to combine various skills at the same time but with long castings and cds, needing excellent timing and smart combo planning to be used effectively.
Another one?
People, please just look at it. I think it is already mashed enough.
Ascended would take like 1-2 months for casual players
Wrong 2 years playing 5-10hrs a day wanna know how many ascended Armor i got dropped for me ? ZERO
There is only 2 places you can get them reliably and they are both elite area’s fractals and raids most casuals like me just don’t want to do that and wont
You are forgetting 1 place: crafting stations. That’s where I got most of my ascended stuff.
To have an idea of what I think a casual looks like, I’ll say I play at most 15 hours every week. I almost never do anything “speed” or “farm”, because I don’t like it. No speed running dungeons, no speed fractals, no SW farming, no key farming, etc. Most of the time I stride through the maps just doing any event I found interesting, killing things and helping another players. I don’t camp maps for long (2 days on the same place are too much for me). I don’t PvP, and rarely do WvW. I never use meta builds, and hate the berserker mentality. A year ago I tried to make profit through the TP, but got busted, so I left it.
Is that casual enough?
Well, I made a full celestial ascended armor in 3 months, plus 2 weapons.
Remember that transforming an ascended piece into another is cheaper than making it from scratch.
Also remeber that Ascended doesn’t give you so much when your build is condi.
Finally, don’t forget the Raid needs both Condi and Power dps. If you can, make 2 sets and carry them on the inventary, so you have more flexibility during the run.
Is GW2 the best MMO?
I don’t know every MMO out there, and don’t believe I have the autority to answer for every gamer ever…
But there is a reason I don’t play other MMOs but this: GW2 is, by far, the best for ME.
Best doesn’t mean, perfect, nor optimal. Its simply the better alternative. Much better.
I wouldn’t balance classes in PvE or in PvP.
If I was the one making the rules at Arena Net, I would balance the whole game around Roaming WvW, then apply that to all the game modes, and control the zerging and stacking through zone penalties for more than 5 people cramped too close.
So my investment on viper armor for my engie was a really really bad deal… and a lot of raid groups looking for “Viper ascended condi build” are plainly wrong.
The armors transform depending the sex of the character wearing it. That is quintaessential sexism.
Add 8 old WOW style maps to the game.
Gigantic, empty, boring maps full of rocks, sand and nothing.
The rumor says that somewhere in the maps there is a single rock that you can activate to win a exclusive legendary, but all player characters become “hostile” when near.
Big +1. This is such an ovbious, yet completely forgotten QoL solution!
Please be clear your suggestion is for HUMANS.
Most Asura users I know (including me) want weapons to be BIGGER, because most models designed to be visible on human hands become tiny, petty, undetailed thootpicks on Asura models.
I think the argument of Xyonon doesn’t have NOTHING to do with “power vs condi” as you seem to be taking it, but with “Ascended advantage is not equally valuable for all builds”, wich is not the same.
I really don’t know if what OP says is true (Does really “weapon strenght” not affect condi dps?), but I’m capable of see that reducing this thread to a lame “Power vs Condi” argument is useless and wrong.

Ziggi’s name remind me of a glider we need to have: a Tiger made of Lightning.
If you add a Quaggan rank, then it should be placed just above Human rank.
Sure, until somebody takes off the safety interlocks and the holograms become solid and start busting up your guild hall and smashing your decorations.
Amazing.
Anet, please take my money and give us that.
Most of the weapons you are asking aren’t truly new weapons but more like skins.
True new weapons should imply a change in basic animation and style of play. Examples:
Throwing hovering weapon:
Any weapon that detach from you and fly around in arcs rather than just going straight. The style of play should involve effective control over the trajectory of the weapon. Skins: Boomerangs, Chakram, Kpingas, Shuriken, Discs, etc.
Chain weapon:
Any weapon that maintain a thether link to your character. The style of play should involve pulls, entagles and the control of the thether by positioning. Skins: Ball and Chain, Kusarigama, Whip, Flail, Multi-Sectioned Nunchaku, etc.
Two Handed Magical Object.
Any magical weapons that require you to keep it in front of you and gesture over it for it to act. The style of play should involve heavy and overlapping CDs requiring good timing and planification. Skins: floating orbs, skulls, big books, mechanical boxes, jewels, etc.
Don’t hold the space bar when you jump.
QFT.
Only ONCE in all the months I have been gliding across Magus Falls I have deployed the glider accidentally while jumping. It was that memorable and special moment.
Just stop keeping the space bar pressed down. It doesn’t make you jump higher/farther.
I think Most Players must be Ragion RL name. Most John Players Smith. Jr.
They really need to adress the dye area. There are a lot of elements that should be dyeable (Or simply be able to use more dyes): from horns to hair, accesories, ears, tatoos, and weapons, just to name a few.
Free or reasonably paid, I don’t mind. We need more emotes, period.
Anything focused on Grenades, Bombs or Mortar.
Yeah, nades are very active on your fingers… but that is all. Minimal positioning, minimal cc, same attack with different colors, over an over, forever.
I think those asura were exposed to some high level readiation event just before the picture. They probably grow thir hair back through some Eternal Alchemy altering unethical machine. Bookahs couldn’t understand, anyway.
BTW: Rata Sum could also be (hideously) translated to Latin as “I am right”.
The Asuras in the loading screen are all bald. They haven’t implemented the hairstyles yet when they took that picture.
The timer should be 2 minutes or so, and the effect should be that the player get expelled from the armor, not the loss of the armor. Armors shouldn’t dissapear.
You are still discussing even we ALL know that largos are way cooler and better and stuff….?
Ok…
Here take your filthy parrot tengu class!
Wow, so Tengu really know how to party!
What do Largos do? Depress people with their drowned drow cosplays?
THey are far too short on animations. There should be at least 3 times more animated emotes in the game. Imagination is great, but for that, I prefer tabletop rpgs. In a computer videogame, I want to see CG animations.
OP, your question confuse people, making them choose only one of the alternatives instead of rating them. I sugest you for example to change “Which map is your favorite to EXPLORE?” for “Rate the maps in regards to EXPLORATION”.
I would also add a few questions about “Adventures”, “Music” and “Secrets”

Add gliding to the new WvW maps an it’ll be ok.
You can make engie as hard or as easy as you want. That is probably what makes it the most fun proffession in the game.
The usual rule is: “The bigger the animal, the smaller the head (proportionally speaking)”. It is not an absolute rule because some animals aparent to have bigger or smaller heads due to other factors, but it is true in the vast majority of cases.
Humans have, proportionally very big brains, (I mean, really gigantic heads) so we already break the rule somehow. But still holds true within humans: normal human head sizes doesn’t vary as much as the body sizes. The result is tall people and small people have very similar sized heads, wich in turn make small people to look big headed and big people to look small headed.
It is normal: babies with “normally proportioned” heads will be very disturbing (and probably sick) and basketball players with “normally proportiones heads” will also be weird.
Completelly agree.
after i unlock it i should be able to wield the weapon without having the trait line active
Totally agree.
For the rest, I really don’t see scrapper as a good alternative for my engie. Even less as a mandatory route. I don’t think I’m the only one that doesn’t need to take the new lines to feel effective or to get fun.
(edited by Ardid.7203)
Still they should. This is far more relevant than E-sports.
That proverbial dead horse was already puree. Now you are making kitten UNDER it.
I’m too lazy to search for facepalms. (And I’m too salty right now, shouldn’t be roaming free on the internetz)
exclusiveness and rareness should last FOREVER, re releasing old items is the main reason this game has not had good player retention, its impossible for me to be motivated when all i have acheived is now on sale again for some new player
Bomb kit. Its useful, but I can’t stand how boring it is. I would love to dump grenades for the same reason, but sadly they are still irreplaceable.
I don’t know most people’s opinion… but at least I only use skins that I like, and I think are coherent with my character. If they are made in the crafting stations, obtained through rng or paid with gems doesn’t matter to me.
As an example, I have a Guardian with a “rough ceramic” theme, who uses some asuran cultural pieces mixed with a few common basic armors and beaded Hylek weapons. I could maybe incorporate some ley-line armor to him, but ley line weapons just wouldnt work, and none of the black lion items would, either. I don’t care how exclusive are the pieces of his equipment. I only care he looks like I want him to.
Rareness is overrated.
Grinding can be addictive, even when is totally goal-less. Have you never heard of Cookie clicker or any “incremental game”? “Korean-style” MMOs follow that pattern, just a bit more taxing on the player: repetitive, non involving mechanics whose major attractive is the illusion of advancement through massive (and required) accumulation of numbers.
IMO GW2 is still far, far, far away from this style of play. We can still simply take a walk around and enjoy the world, kill something just for the sake of killing it (Or skip it just because we are not in the mood), and literally forget about the “goals” or “rewards” we could obtain, because that advancement mechanic is not mandatory. I agree that some activities need to get better rewards and some goals demand a lot of repetition… but as long as those aren’t really required to keep playing, I will consider those as unpolished phenomena, rather than a true grind.
IMO, that we see so many complaints about the grinding and reward balance on GW2 is actually a GOOD symptom. It indicates people still care enough to compain instead of simply surrender to the grind or plainly leaving the game.
So, going back to the central argument of the thread: No, BDO doesn’t seems to be direct competition to GW2. Only the reward oriented and already grind-focused players will leave for such a game. I doubt they are as many as some think, and their leaving will simply force ANet to strenghten the exploring, pve focused, non grindy aspects, which is good.
Charr Guardians are awesome. IMO, your basic premise is wrong. Un less you have too many Charr (Hard, but possible).
Those stiff animations, and the meaningless customization, and the repetitive killing, Tera is awful…
I’m having disconnect problems in Auric Basin, more than on Dragon Stand. The 64 client I installed a month ago solved most issues, but the last week has been somewhat more disconnect-y than before.
Bigger complaints:
Tarir failing almost half a minute before indicated by the timer. Successfully completing Tarir defense to find the game doesn’t care about it and declares the whole map as failed anyway.
Baing unable to maintain the hardly earned participation when the game do disconnect.
Needing to beg for taxi every time, just to try DS long meta.
Gravity Jam: The Engineer activates a Gadget that surrounds him/her with a field of altered mass, switching between anti-gravity and hyper-gravity for several seconds.
It is a AOE that first floats enemies around for a second, interrupting them, and then forcefully lands them, doing damage and aplying slow. The field of effect moves with the engie and applies each time a foe enters the area. High CD, of course.
I like the game and I like HoT very much. I don’t believe its all sugar and flowers, though. There are a lot of problems and choices to solve and talk about.
I DO think the devs should answer questions and complains way more often, in a proffessional, official way, in the official forum, NOT in reddit.
