that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”
Hawks
This is awesome.
It’s a knockback with a crippling toolbelt. Engineers have an absurd amount of soft and hard cc. Turrets can be traited to knockback on death or detonation. Thumper has a launch. Throw mine has a knockback. Supply drop stuns, and can be detonated. Net turrets immobilize. Overcharged rocket turret knocks back. Grenades can chill. They have so many choices for breaking bars, they are king of control. Also during the raid testing I heard they were also top dps? Engis aren’t a jack of all trades, they’re a master of all.
Only one trade at a time, but still true.
Mortar also have some chill, and pistols have glue. Shield have 3 CC: Magnetic Inversion pushes, Static Shield stun (if you got hit), Throw Shield daze. There are also a ton of different blinds.
HP should scale better. That’s all the problem there is.
If we account the lore, most Quaggans aren’t idiots at all. They simply place a too high value to the community over the individual and have an intrinsic fear of their own (intrinsic, too) violence.
That’s why they don’t use the egotistical and too imposing “I”, and why prefer to avoid risks rather than confront them.
Shashoo get’s caught in a too radical situation, where she is forced to fight. She is a hero, no doubt, but IMO she is not an anomaly for their species, just a strong
specimen.
There seems to be no reason for a lot of things Scrapper related. It’s almost the elite spec motto: “There was no reason”.
Ok, its a mistake. But the collection still works? Did someone already unlocked The North Wind?
How about new animations.
This. 10000000000 times this.
Mini pets are awful as they are now. Mounts could only be worse.
A proper spec mechanic for Scrapper, that changes the way we play, is aesthetically noticeable, is relevant in PvE, and got used twice a minute, not once every two hours.
Things not to do:
- Design rewards that require the player to lose.
- Put heavy RNG barriers on challenges that are already long and complex.
- Make money a legit way to get what should be skill and dedication goals.
- Transform fun, hard and full of content treasure hunts in grind fests.
These ideas are good, I’m bumping this.
We still don’t have a dev’s answer to the 100% central tyria vs new maps completion bug.
I doubt we’ll get any answer about the elitespec mechanikittenil a year or so in the future.
Before it was more cooperative. I usually stay at Red and run Amber and Indigo caravans 2/3 of the way through and expect somebody defending Amber and Indigo to receive their supply.
you wern’t doing this because it was good gameplay or because it was more cooperative, you were doing this because you could tag as many events as possible.
in the new system, someone who’s defending blue oasis can receive similar event rewards to someone bounding between indigo <-> red rock.
You have no knowledge or right to declare why someone did something like this.
I did it (And surely will do it again) because it was/is very natural. You are in the limits of the event killing some slinger husk to defend fort, then see a caravan low in people passing through. You stick to the caravan to help, and then left the caravan before arriving to kill a mordrem team that has just spawned and is in its way to the second fort. It doesn’t obey any plan, it doesn’t reflect any urge to tag events.
As i said, I will probably do it again, because is how I play. The difference is before I received something for doing the work of killing the husks, defending the caravan and stopping the mordrem. Now is very possible I dont get anything unless I stick myself to some stiff predetermined routine.
IM NOT A TAGGER. I play the events and try to be where I’m most needed. This new system punish my playstyle unjustly.
No doubt GW2 has a lot of room for improvement.
That being said, it is still kilometers ahead of any of ist competitors.
It is the best MMO I have played ever.
The problem was not to add Gyros, but to decide they should think. Gyros don’t needed AI to work. They could have been passive boosters, re-locable objects, projectiles, tethered entities, a different way to visualize direct attacks or effects, etc.
I was almost convinced they were going to be the Engie’s version of signets. There were so many possibilities!
But no. They have to make them Turrets 2.0. Bookahs…
I think Colin was talking way ahead, because more specializations will be added in the future.
Where?? How? When!!!
1- Halve the drop of whites, blues and greens.
1.1 – Double the salvage results.
2- Lower the bag types from the too extremely many there are today, to a reasonable amount you can effectively stack. (Yesterday I keep the bags unopened for a few hours. I ended with multiple stacks of 34 different bag kinds). Make it so there isn’t more than 15 different bag types in each area.
The objective is good, but the implementation is too rigid, IMO.
Doing half an event shouldn’t be treated the same as tagging 3 mobs and running.
There are so many good ideas in this Engineer Forum, but they dont care, they just want to do there own thing.
Which is frequently nothing.
Or MORE AIs…
I’m in the ssame situation, just waiting for this bug to be adressed to do that last POI in Verdant Brink. My engie pass by it every day and look at it with nostalgic desire, from afar.
I love my Celestial gear and use it every day. I’m making a Sinister one, too, and surely will make a Wanderer one in the future.
Super good stuff. Please add more!.
In not optional content, make it like jumping mushrooms and teleporters, so there is always a slower way to do it, without physics, for people wich can’t do platforms. In optional content, like JPs, go all the way!
They should simply replace the AI on the gyros with a cord or chain with a specific length (just to the limit of the AoE for gyros such as sneak and healing) that links the gyro and the scrapper together.
This way you can separate from the gyro AND move it around tactically, without depending on machine “thinking”.
Add a little inertia to the model and voilá, you have a way deeper and funnier gameplay for gyros, where positioning has value, rng is reduced and player’s choices matter.
8 lvl 80 chars, one from every profession, 1 lvl 20 for mule purposes, and soon a Rev.
The main is a Female Asura Engie with a FT.
The plan was to have 1 lvl 80 for every proffesion, 2 (male/female) for every race except norn (Dont like very much norn males), but in the end the human necro was too boring compared to the amazing asura reaper I make for the betas, so he got demoted to mule status, leaving me with 3 asuras. Rev is going to be a female human, though.
Its simple:
People love looting.
But people hate bad loot.
How do you stop people from asking for better loot?
By making looting itself unbearable.
Thus bags into bags into bags…
Is this a JP without chest?
They doesn’t work very good for PvE either. Most people still ends in separate instances, so your guild need to do the old party taxi anyway. Also with the continuous re-instancing of the Hall map, and with the many, many bugs you experiment when arriving to the maps, the Portal feels more like an hyndrance for the guild, than an improvement.
We hope things will change when the Squad system gets live. But right now, simply doing a guild race using the portal is disgustingly awkward.
I’ve found every accounted thing in Verdant Brink except one POI (Which I’m saving for the moment the “100% central tyria bug” gets fixed), without help from people or youtube, and barely investing 6 hours total to explore it. Some are easy, some are hard, but none is impossible. Most just need patience.
PS: And I have had a ton of fun.

I’m happy you people get fun with halloween. I really prefer the new maps in Magus Falls, so I barely did a couple of clocktowers before going back to gliding.
I think I’m just too tired of candy corn.
The only thing that had make me feel this way in the game (until now, of course) is that list of achievements on the “No Refuge” journal step (Stupid Windmane stupid Caithe stupid Faolain stupid elementals stupid sand stupid invisible effects stupid I stupid hate you all).
JPs are never easy… but I can manage.
Technically you could do any of them without masteries. There is always a way to get to the Maw’s spawning point on foot. However, to do that on Lost Precipice would be really hard, and a drag for the rest of the group. For lost precipice my advice is to get there at least with updrift gliding earned.
Honestly, the Improvised set would have made more sense as drops in Verdant Brink (you know, Pact survivors creating makeshift weapons to defend themselves and all that). It’s a weird choice for a black lion set though.
That’s true. These are a perfect choice for weapons found on the Pact fleet crash site.
Yep, its a bug. Is there a bug list or thread with this specifically added?
I have a character with 100% central tyria parked just outside of the last POI on Verdant Brink, specifically waiting for this bug to be solved.
Any news, Anet?
I need the completion reward for a Specialization Collection. I’m sure there are a lot of people on the same situation. I don’t think this bug can wait.
Got the Servo and the Chak goop on saturday. Now I’m just rising masteries.
I would like the Blast gyro to behave as some other poster proposed: like a giant, slow and gloomy floating ball of death. Keep it slow, even slower than now, but make it more durable and with a much, much higher damage. The use will not be to really attack someone, but to force them to avoid the gyro, and for us to use it as cover while doing another activities.
the first set of bl weapons i am would be willing to gamble for (i don’t need to tho since i’ll just buy them with gold). the sword, hammer, dagger and greatsword look absolutely amazing.
i wish there would be more sets like that.
Same here. Most of the weapon sets look very typical, “epic-fantasy” boring stuff (TO ME). The Improvised at least are original and creative. I’m still slowly collecting scraps and waiting for a truly steampunk set like the Aetherized, but the Sword, Shield, Hammer and Scepter on this set certainly tempted me.
Engie and Ele are the more flexible build wise, but Ele always get more love from Anet.
They also should be yellow mobs. :P
Iwould limit it to just 1 alt per account: The “least used” character of every player on the guild. It would be really funny.
Is not poor, just misleading. Therefore, bad anyway.
I still don’t know. Reaper really appeals me, but I havent unlocked it yet. I’m mostly playing around with my main, a little asura engie. Since scrapper doesn’t really convince me, I’m simply using my old FT permaswift build to burn and overrun stuff in the jungle.
So far I’m having lots of fun… without the elites.
DionZeromus: If you play really at range, that could be the problem you have to use the F-Gyro. AFAIK it has now a range of 700 only. Also you need to manually select the target you want to affect with the F-Gyro.
Ignis, I must say you should be the only one I have hear of that use the F-Gyro so often. Still, I think we can agree… 20 uses on a day is not precisely a “gamebreaking mechanic change”, or a “visually defining” quality of the elite spec.

Taimi is amazing. Vulnerable yet strong, with a simple yet deep story, an interesting, non-maniqueist personality, and a high contrast character design where her disability actually IS visible and not a mere mention. My favorite character in the game by far.
I HOPE they add a set of new Elite Specs every 6 months.
I EXPECT them to add a set of new Elite Specs every year.
I don’t even see the atractive of the item. Do people really want it so bad that they can’t stand having to work and wait to get it?
The mini-gyro should be a bit bigger and float lower and not SO close to the character.
F-Gyro should at minimum work on defeated people and npcs. Rezzing defeated people on PvE is one of the few activities that is practically imposible to do while fighting, hence “truly unique” for the elite spec. Still incredibly meh, but much much better than now.
Oh, if you already have the Scrapper, by all means try to get the Fix-R-Upper. But is seems is going to be long-ish, because AFAIK we need to clear all the new maps to obtain one of the items, and other 2 are RNG. (I started a thread about it, you can find some tips and problems there)
Also remember there’s a way to change ascended stats on the mystic toilet, and you can obtain ascended weapons doing fractals.
Are they still affected by swiftness?
