that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”

Thief is a great proffession, but at level 12 you don’t have traits or skills enough to build a playstyle. Just be patient, get to 80 as soon as posible, and then try it.
Better: try all the proffessions on PvP, where all skills and traits are unlocked, and choose there.
In the same thread it say the information about the Quiver was taken from Dulfy, as the writer of the list don’t saw the changes on the Gemstore. I must add I don’t remember Rox Quiver being available on the GS during last week…
Could it have been a bug?
Themed outfits, you mean…
Deadly Mixture and Fireforged Trigger not mentioned anywhere.
AFAIK you can complete the event to clear the hall with the help of anyone… that means there COULD be a case where the leader that claims the hall is member of a guild where nobody else has HoT…
Also, way overthinkig this… the leader of a group that claims a hall could perfectly turn face over their people in the last instant and claim the hall for another (His personal or exclusive) guild…
It sounds really kitten, but with the info we actually have, it could happen.
It has ALWAYS been laggy for me. Like… the last two years.
Market is never “fair”. So IMO is ok to ask for fairness elsewhere.
I get there 10-15 minutes early and rarely have a fail. It could do with a few more spawns near tequatl to pull some of the Zerg off him.
Same here.
I usually jump to the map 10 minutes before the reset, and inmediatelly join a defense team, typically South Boat, wich normally get full in minutes. If champions spawn we just chain them there, kill the krait hypnoss ASAP, and if turrets seems to be vulnerable, we orbit them killing fingers until next batch of SBoat mobs appear.
When battery defense begins, we split up. I prefer to always defend two places with each iteration: megalaser and east battery, then west and megalaser, then megalaser and north.
I have seen the event fail only once since last year.
Meta is only meta because it optimizes the reward. The problem is today speed runs pay more than story runs or clear runs. People will never respect a “slow” LFG as long as they feel they are “losing” their time.
Mechanic solution: Anet recognize these different styles of play do exist, and reward them in a balanced way. How? by offering gold bonus rewards for:
- Record time achieved by the party. (For speeders and skippers)
- Number of clips entirely viewed by the party. (For lore fans)
- Number of enemies killed by the party. (For the combat crew)
Since the problem will persist if speed clearing keeps being the more time/reward efficient style, bonus for watching the story and clearing mobs should compensate the time “lost”.
NOW you have 3 different, clear and balanced ways of playing the party can agree on, that in the end will reward the same, and allow people to enjoy the story and kill things without going directly against the “meta”.
Even better, with this system speed, lore and kill crews could work together: a good group will try to balance all aspects to get the most rewards of the three areas. The more capable partyes will see all the videos and kill all the mobs in the shortest time possible, thus obtaining a triple bonus in the end.

Do GW1 have jumping puzzles?
I don’t like walking through the map, or being attacked by ugly things. Can I have a Legendary only by crafting, please?
XD. Sorry guys, this is so funny!
What about Tempests? Will they sound like flatula too?
I just began to use the warhorn yesterday (Really, I have never used one before).
I equiped my new warrior, selected the warhorn skill to get the swifness I love so much for map exploration…
And star laughing my lungs out. My charr was literally farting its way across Tyria!
I thought it was an intended joke until I saw this thread. Now I want to be sad… but I can’t. It is still so hilarious…
I’ll gladly pay for armors in the gem store, as long asthey are mix’n match…
I think this is a prime example of how the “zerk mentality” betrays people once and again: Stats doesn’t carry people through the content!! Skill and coordination do!!
I only do dungeons with “all welcome” pugs, or with guildies in “whatever armor”. I play flamethrower engie, avoid using grenades because I hate them, and usually wear condi or cele stats. I DON’T consider myself a pro, at all. Guess what? Rarely get wiped, NOT ONCE by the spider.
Thankyou for the appreciation gift, Anet.
I’ll count this outfit and the wedding one as my exceptions on the rule of never have things that doesn’t encourage my own power to create (Aka, clone outfits instead of unique mix’n match armor). I consider the helmet really ugly, but the rest of the outfit looks really good, specially on Asura, wich is a huge point for me.
I’l keep hoping you release a mix’nmatch version of these pieces (And from other outfits too) someday. In the maintime, please put your outfit team to work on some armors? Please?
Didn’t the last patch improve the pets behavior?
Ascetic is a cool name. I was actually just thinking that they might be wary of using any names with religious connotations because of charr players. Might be why we have guardian/dragonhunter instead of paladin/inquisitor. Might be reading too much into it though.
Also an ascetic would never buy those fancy outfits… or even keep coins… or any other material goods…
In spanish there isn’t a decent word to say something like “Daredevil”, wich somehow implies acrobatics and physical risk aside the obvious “daring” part.
You can say “Atrevido” that literally means “Daring One” but by custom it normally applies to guys that look under skirts or make “daring attempts” to seduce ladies… so, no. You can say “Valiente” (Brave) or “Temerario” (Fearless), but they are all descriptions of someone’s personality , more than descriptions of what they DO.
In the end, the guys at the Anet localization team for spanish named the spec as “Forajido”, wich is, literally, Outlaw. It doesn’t have very much to do with the Daredevil concept… but at least it sounds ok and isn’t a particularly stupid word.

IMO, basic core classes should at minimum receive access to their own skills for the new weapons with each xpac.
THis is for working at ArenaNet or at IGN?
*Guardian = Hawk-Eye
Either way, no one would like the guardian. :P
(Like srsly, who likes Hawkeye?)
Have you read the Matt Fraction & David Aja version?
Hawkguy is the best “superhero” of Marvel comics. Ever. SRSLY.

I’ll even dare to say “Civil War” and “Age of Ultron” are DragonHunters compared to “My Life as a Weapon”…
You think the fireballs are ilogic? What about those rocks appearing from nowhere so the berserk can smash them? Magic is an ok answer, but is also a way too lazy one .
The spec looks really fun, but from a “aestheticaly coherent” point of view, they could have made a better work, at least with the animations. Fireballs could be animated to look like “ki charges” or directly as physical projectiles. (If Warrior can throw bolas, why not throw firecrackers, molachev bottles or simply sparks?) Instead of a rock popping in from thin air, the berserker could break the floor with his/her bare hands and throw the rubble, etc.
I don’t think this have any relevance, anyway. Thre are much more insulting fails in the game, like the Dragon Hunter, or the first Revenant v/s PS problem.
TLDR: Fun spec, lame skill explanations, could be better with a little better thought animations. It really don’t matter.
Assassin, please!
OrMaster Shadow
Quickblade
Mistrunner
Quicksilver
Go simple? Master Thief
With all the monk-like Kungkittenmoves being added, might as well go Cantha in the naming.
If player concerns are not important to you, Anet, a Marvel lawsuit will be.
DO NOT USE DAREDEVIL.Pick up a Thesaurus…
Outlaw… RP or lore issues might arise, but waaay better than Daredevil…
Oh, here you go, fancy-nancy and as dastardly as it gets:Rapscallion
No? Too Oniony?
Blackguard…
I personally like Master Shadow best, Assassin second.
Any of those has any relation to the new spec, traitline, elite or weapon? I don’t see stealth, shadows, knifes or anything like that in what the new spec is. Monk could suit it better, but its also a very wasted word today. Daredevil is ok, really.
There is no way for the game to recognize “strategic” dodge. While I DO consider such maneuvers to be much more elegant and intelligent than merely pressing the evade button when a blow is about to land, its simply impossible for a machine to judge when a premature dodge was well used and when not.
BUT, since just playing tactically actually rewards you, so is not that bad.
So… IMO they should properly implement both kind of rewards. “On dodge” should offer simpler, less battle oriented and more QoL rewards (Like gaining swiftness). “On avoid hit” should give more aggresive and fight focused boons (next attack is unblockable, might stacks, etc).
Yes it would be.
Meh, the only really bad is Dragon Hunter.
It was already stated that there will be no new emotes in HoT. Soz guys
Did they even talk about this thopic at all? Where!?
I don’t particularly like it…. but its clear, descriptive and evocative of apropiate references. Doesn’t sound bad either. It’s an “ok” name.
This is so cheap… Anet. How can I rationally critizice your designs if you put DOUBLE ENDURANCE on them?
Now i’m going to forget totally about the many rifle possibilities, the sad destiny of the pistols and how little staff changes the thief playstyle and simply devote to dodge, dodge, dodge with my shiny Daredevil.
Proud user of Injection Protection, Backpack Regenerator, Iron Blooded and Juggernaut FT here. I’m so lazy it feels like I’m flying!
They should add an achievement like “World & Mist” or something like that, for the people that did the whole World Completion the old, harder way. Maybe even a title, like “Been there, done that… and that too.”
I personally struggled like a month to complete the WvW part (I’m not very fond of WvW, or good at it…), and only 3 days later they announced we don’t need WvW completion anymore… I felt so trolled it made me laugh like a maniac for a hour.
Really?
You really are comparing “Daredevil” with “Dragon Hunter”?
Daredevil is a very meningful and flexible word (“Recklessly daring person”), wich have been made famous by a Marvel’s character but ultimately have not been seen so much in the media. Its not a great name, but it stands properly.
Dragon Hunter is a “high concept” with a rigid yet utterly pointless meaning (“Person who hunts dragons”), particularly redundant and confusing in GW2, wich have been so used and abused in the media that in the end it “took an arrow to the knee” and become a rolling joke. Is not even a proper description of what the spec do… because as of today, only one dragon has been “hunted” (By a massive army and thousands of heroes…).
…
(edited by Ardid.7203)
Agreed. There is always a group of people that only want to have the overpowered hand. IMO rifle could have been done without falling on this: high damage, ranged weapon that hampers your movement and put your stealth on a really long cooldown. This could have been interesting, new to the game and the proff, and not so hard to balance.
BUT. Its all water under the bridge now. Lets just hope the thiefstaff is original and fun.
We definitely need more rifles in the game. Not saying thiefstaff will be bad: we need to see it first. But IMO is not going to be as atractive or new as the rifle could have been.
I don’t like MOBAs. I’ll give it a try when the expansion arrives, not before. Yet I highly doubt I will play it more than a few times.
This ideas are marvellous. I really love people making creative and funny uses of the systems in the game. Cheer for all you Quaggans!!
Sorry to say this, but I really despise outfits. Why I don’t like outfits? Well, aside them making all characters look identical and being mostly anti-inmersive, it’s because time spent in making outfits is time not spent making mix’n-match-able armor.
Outfits don’t offer anything to me. I’ll happily give 5 outfits in echange for 1 new mixnmatch set. Kitten! Even a new pair of boots or gloves is worth more than all the current outifts to me.
I support this also.
Also can’t not post this. Sorry:

The problem is many people think blind mechanics make the game and forget about the part where they must play it first. In other words, some people adopt the meta without knowing how to play it, and then blame their own failure on something (or someone) else. They think meta = sure win.
I understand you, horvgab. The “not enough dps” excuse is very, very common, and the worst part is, in some cases is actually true.
And, although the “make your own group” is the best we can do to avoid the problem, the problem still exists: there is a “zerker religion” in the game, wich ocassionally sprouts zealots that see pure DPS as the only way to play the game, EVEN WHEN THEY THEMSELVES CAN’T PLAY IT PROPERLY. I haven’t had too much problems with them, but the few times that I did, have been really bad experiences.
Why is this a problem for Anet? Because giving people with fanatical ideas tools to support them is never worth it. A rigid and long lived meta creates rigid behaviours, and that gives birth to elitism, bad manners and grief.
I think Anet is making the effort to answer this, though. All the new content, while very forgiving with Zerk fans, looks also very “not zerker oriented” to me.
Lets wait and see.
“Rewarding” someone is not the same as “punishing” others.
Anet: Do you want to participate in the rehearsal?
PlayerA: No thanks, I’ll wait for the premiere.
Anet: Ok, see you later then.
Anet: Do you want to participate in the rehearsal?
PlayerB: Yes, I’ll do it.
Anet: Yay, thank you! Here, have some cookies.
The price is fine. The cultural work is there, and that is true quality.
The problem is its an outfit.
They really should make more mix’n match pieces already. That would be TRUE QUALITY.
While a bo is a martial art weapon that a “ninja” would be able to use, it is NOT a proper “ninja weapon” at all.
I guess the thief elite spec won’t be “Ninja” then. I heard rumors about a “Dare Devil” though.
Also, GW 2 Thief magic allows them to hide a Norn so I don’t think a Staff will be much of a problem.
Of course, Tyria doesn’t need to make sense.
I still like my old concept of “Guaranger”. Its much more didactical.
While a bo is a martial art weapon that a “ninja” would be able to use, it is NOT a proper “ninja weapon” at all.
Historical ninjas prefered smaller weapons, easy to carry and hide. Even long swords like the katana weren’t used very often: the classic ninjato is a way shorter, cheaper and lighter blade.
It make sense: if you were going to infiltrate a guarded place, squeezing through palisades, jumping across branches and roofs, and silently entering closed rooms to steal something or kill someone, you would avoid to carry huge, bulky and heavy things…
Daredevil?
Not so bad. It could have been “Dare Dragon” or something worse.
Immersion is never wasted work. Overlooked, underapreciated, maybe.
Quality is always worth the effort.
… Or is someone updating a wiki page?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gem_Store#2015_Anniversary_Sale
I’m not impressed.
Anniversary sale so far are selling items I already own, so…?
I understand the new players are more than likely loving this, but I am pretty sure veteran Players, like myself, are getting more and more frustrated.
Do I have to wait until day 21 of the 21 Day Sale to maybe get something I don’t already own?
Sounds a little like the problem of how to give a good gift to the man that already has everything, or not?^^
Just make Aetherized skins available with tickets again.
Dragonhurrdurr. Now THAT is a memorable profession name.
Sad staff is confirmed. But after the Tempest disssapointment it was easy to spect Anet giving Thief yet another melee style. I hope is actually a good one, truly different from the actual base, and not only a new set of gimmicks to do exactly the same…
Wich could be the name of this new Elite Spec?
The Ninja? The Distractor? The Dragon Poker?
