I’m getting the same thing as well. As soon as someone logs off, their status changes to “unknown” with no timer at all.

They plan to eventually combine influence, bonuses etc across the board for guilds who have members split across home servers but as yet there is no current known time when that will be rolled out. I’m hoping sometime soon. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Unfortunately, those on EU servers are unable to do dungeons with NA players (i’ve tried…).

I agree with making this thread a sticky. I think it would reach a lot more people that way.

In regards to using social media, it does have great potential to be a useful thing. Depending on hows it’s used, I don’t see why it couldn’t take the place of a regular guild site. Though, on the other hand, not everyone uses the various social media options and it may leave some people out if a guild was to only use Facebook for communication.

I had made a Facebook page for my guild, but it didn’t see much use, so I eventually just deleted it. I think that was because we already have a full site with a forum to pass along information on.

The Deep Cave is tied in with the Trove when it comes to permissions to add/withdraw from it. Would be nice if those were separate as well, but… could be worse, I suppose.

Your guild will stay as it is on that world, however, you will need to rebuild all your upgrades on the new world. As mentioned, be sure to clear our your guild bank before you move also, otherwise you won’t be able to access anything in it.

From what I see, the part that makes it the hardest (and seemingly impossible) is the fact that it’s centered around another game, that maybe not as many people play/ed, through lore. People come to GW2 to play in GW2 lore, etc.

Running a guild is not always butterflies and unicorns. There has to be rain before a rainbow appears. One of the hardest parts of being a GL is not letting those storms get to you and bring you down too far. Knowledge of and/ or participation in RP is not required. We’ll teach you if you want to learn, but there’s no pressure. Some of our members also enjoy WvsW/sPvP and we do have our own arena. We also have a variety of member-hosted events that change every week.

We know that RL comes first and stress that fact. We’ll still be there even if you can’t for a bit of time.

We are focused on providing a place where people can feel comfortable and as though they are more than just a name on the roster. We want everyone to feel like family. We’re willing to help out with any and all questions as best as we can.

Don’t worry about trying to transfer right away or even at all if you’re not on Tarnished Coast (unless you’re on an EU server, then it gets complicated). Feel free to guest with us as long as you want. You’ll still be able to join with us for dungeons and even Fractals (which I will be more than happy to teach). We don’t do the “speed runs”, exploits, etc either. If you decide you want to transfer, we’ll help you get the funds you need to do so.

There is also no requirement to be representing us at all times. It’s not our business to tell you who you can and cannot associate with; that choice is yours alone. All we ask is that you give us some time too.

We also have a TeamSpeak 3, but it’s use is on a purely optional basis. Most of our chatter is on the guild channel.

Also, when it comes to a guild website, it helps if the site is aesthetically pleasing. In other words, nice to look at. That doesn’t mean you have to go all out and spend a ton of money and have it done by a professional web-designer. You can do a lot on your own with the free site hosting services that exist (ie: enjin, guildportal, etc). Spend time playing with the customization tools to give your site something that will keep people looking at the content. The last thing you want to happen, is people going elsewhere because they risk going blind trying to read what information you have to offer.

It will be hard to get members when you’re starting out. There will be a lot of turnover of members until you start finding the right ones to stick around and build with. Don’t rely on posting in map chat alone to get more members. As was mentioned earlier in this thread, utilize the variety of other options there are too.

Make a post here in the Guild Recruitment section. Also make posts on other related sites (GW2Guru, MMORPG, etc). Surf through the LFGuild posts and see if anyone sounds like they might be a good fit and contact them (but don’t just randomly send a guild invite. That’s rude. Be sure to speak with them either directly in game or via mail or forum pm first.) Be truthful in your posts as well, and be willing to flex and change as the needs of your member base change.

Don’t be afraid to remove the “dead weight” from your roster either.
