How many different threads are we gonna have created about this?
As many as there are entitled people who can’t read?
You know what might change your mind on the matter? A lesson in Dolyak biology.
Adult dolyaks protect their young because they regularly eat them. Alive. From the adorable little hooves and up. Then, when the adult alpha dolyak grows old and infirm, its young gang up on her, kill her and eat her. Following a brief and bloody struggle among the remaining youths, the winner is the new alpha dolyak and has the right of first pick among the delicious calves. The circle of life continues.
I dunno why the OP is disillusioned. If GW2 history taught us anything, it’s that Sylvari engineers are the most dangerous of all. Charr engineers are dime a dozen.
At least I assume it’s server lag, and it’s been unbearable since the latest patch (not sure if it’s related).
- Monster spawn weirdness (been chased around by 15+ ettins near the strawberry farm in Kessex Hills).
- Events that are there and yet aren’t (untargetable veteran/champion monsters that don’t do anything, missing hero challenge enemies).
It’s really rather annoying.
Oh wow, that’s a long holiday. Good to know I won’t have to rush some of those achievements (and I’m not talking about the Imbiber, I’m not crazy enough to go after that one). Thanks for the info!
•Skills need to be aimed or ground targeted
This forces the player to be focused when fighting
I’m so happy you’re leaving.
Also don’t forget that keeping FT up makes Engi kill itself from Retaliation almost instantly.
What’s with people using JPs as an example, as if they give a ton of points. It’s only Hidden Garden and the Wastes JPs that give them, IIRC.
I’d actually like it if more JPs (and some Explorer achievs) gave Mastery points. I mean, even Not So Secret doesn’t give you one.

Let’s say I’m using the Bomb Kit and I’ve got the High Caliber trait equipped (+10% crit chance within 240 range). How does the game calculate the range? Do I have to stand over the bomb when it explodes to get that +10%? Or does the range count from the bomb, in which case I just get a perma +10%, since bombs have a 240 range already?
Well, I’m pretty sure their form was designed by Mordremoth. If the Pale Tree or half the individuals had it their way, they would probably look like centaurs. Which would be amazing…until you attempt a jumping puzzle.
I dunno, mountain goats are pretty amazing at that sort of thing. Their hoofiness and four-leggedness doesn’t seem to bother them much.
Currently, leveling gear is exotic quality craftable gear for various levels, which is helpful for leveling alts, cause they by themselves don’t have access to exotic gear at early levels.
That’s good, but what I really would want instead is gear that levels up along with you. You gain a level and the gear improves with you, matching your level. Having such gear at exotic quality would be too much, so as I see it, it should be fine or masterwork quality, so that if you find a rare or exotic item, you could use it instead for as long as it’s better than your leveling gear.
Self-leveling trinkets would be especially great, cause they barely ever drop and you mostly buy them from karma vendors. Most of the time I’m just leveling without any trinkets or a backpack until things start dying painfully slowly, and I just have to get some.
It does seem silly that the liberation event is so easy, but I’m all for the initial defense being difficult. The event is basically a WB fight, cause you get the WB chest for beating it. It makes sense for it to be difficult, and for people to understand what they’re supposed to be doing. Half the time everyone zergs into the stampeding horde and dies.
…is to regularly drop my FPS every 15-20 seconds. Since it’s happening no matter what I do in the game, I assume the culprit is the “flame-y” special effect around the skill bar. The question is, why is my Guardian unaffected by this? It’s a mystery.
As I’m not exactly a graphics options whizz, can somebody tell me which option governs visual effects such as this, so I can maybe selectively turn it down without making the entire game look like something from 2004?
(inb4 the potato comment)
13 or 14, I forgot.
I disagree on the first point, no need to buff an already powerful skill even further. Activation time is fair imo.
But the second point I have to agree with. I’m not even sure it’s the camera, I tested it a lot in one-on-one fights, and it just seems totally random. I’d love it to always end with me facing the mob, but I’m a filthy casual with AA turned on.
My bet is they’re bots, running in underwear because their armor is broken.
Not sure what they’re supposed to be farming in that case though. Maybe the script they’re using bugged out.
To me this is a feature to turn ground targeted skill in to PBAoE.
It was never a problem to cast an AoE skill at your feet. This seems more like an oversight to me. Clicking on the skill and pressing the skill number key shouldn’t produce completely different results.
It sounds a bit attention-grabby, but I’d really like to hear an official response to this.
(edited by Ariurotl.3718)
You’d better not make any annoying sounds though.
So in my preferences I set Ground Targeting to Instant and ticked the shiny new “snap to target” box that was supposed to FINALLY let me use AoE skills efficiently with the way I play.
Except, it doesn’t. Not exactly. Say I use the above settings and want to use Smite (Guardian Scepter 2) on target.
If I press 2 on the keyboard, it works like a charm. Instantly casts Smite on my current target and everything’s peachy.
But I don’t generally use the keyboard to use skills. I use the mouse. When I left-click on Smite on the skill bar, the skill is instantly cast… at my feet. As long as the cursor hovers over the skill bar, the game acts as if I don’t have a target selected, and that makes me a sad panda (or quaggan?).
^ Ah, alright. Sorry for the presumption.
Once you get a level in your Mastery, you can spend A point on one of the tracks.
No, you can spend however many points that particular level requires. I just got the lvl 2 Pact Commander mastery and spent 2 points required to obtain it.
Anyone figured out what the bonus is yet? And whether it stacks with crafting boosters?
So, those of us who already did it get nothing, because we’ve already completed it?
I went to Dry Top today and got the chest immediately after the zone loaded.
I’ve been leveling my Core masteries and noticed something: when your mastery XP bar fills up, the game doesn’t prompt you to spend a point. What’s (much) worse, you stop earning XP, apparently. Cause when I finally noticed that the bar is full and spent a point, the bar reset to 0 / 1,XXX,XXX.
Either prompt us when the bar is full or add XP “overflow” like we have with normal leveling.
…and I’ll guard Central Tyria for ya. People who own HoT but choose to stay behind for now, unite!
Here are my 8 reasons not to venture into the jungle for a few days (maybe weeks):
1. Pact Commander mastery track is by far the most attractive option for me personally.
2. I’m cautious about possible bugs (it seems surprisingly polished, judging by the majority of reports, but you never know).
3. I don’t care much about getting somewhere new as soon as possible. It’ll be there when I get around to it. Don’t care about getting ahead by finding a rare item of some sort and selling it either.
4. I’m in a one-man guild (and even then I only represent on an RP alt), and I don’t do organized group content at all. So no Guild Halls or Raids for me, possibly ever.
5. I want zergs to die down a bit.
6. I main Guardian. There is literally no reason for me to chase my elite spec.
7. I main a DIFFERENT Guardian now, and he’s still not completed the map (unlike my previous main Guardian). I stopped when it became pointless to level past 80, and I’ll now resume, as it’s no longer the case. Timberline Falls over Verdant Brink for now, thanks.
8. This will be my first proper Halloween, and I’ll probably take part in some stuff.
In case anyone suffers from reading comprehension difficulties, I’d like to point out that I’m not criticizing HoT. I’m just taking my time to get there.

NOOOOOOO! Not Faolain!
this should be a tradable crafting material….there is no way normal character can craft the backpiece…. farming them takes so much time it is crazy.. if we could buy them from trading post, that would be more interesting
Who’s farming the shards these days? Mystic Forge sprocket promotion is much faster (albeit a lot more expensive)
More ridiculous wings… sigh
Toxic Karka confirmed. We are doomed.
Kodans often go to the bank to check their balance.
I laughed out loud at this one, and I’m not even ashamed.
AoE on target is the best thing ever, at least for me. I’ve never been good with those skills, and their presence or lack basically dictated my choice of weapons. Hopefully this will no longer be the case.
Also, you’re probably looking for the notoriously bugged Hero Challenge in Fields of Ruin that fails to appear sometimes. I’m pretty sure logging out and in again, or re-entering the map fixes it.
you need 25 quartz to make one charged quartz, and there is only 22 available per day (3 in your home instance, 9 in drytop, andanother 10 from the rich node in drytop. if they added one more you could make one charged quartz per day).
Not entirely correct, cause there’s a chance of 5 quartz. So it’s at least 22, and personally I see 5-stacks drop rather often.
Balthazar’s Staff. Gore ’em!
Since unsplitting skills previously split between PvE and PvP is something of a trend recently, isn’t it about time to give PvE Whirling Axe the PvP treatment and give it that +50% damage? Offhand axe will still barely be used, of that I’m sure, but at least it won’t be so horribly inefficient anymore.
Whirling is fun, Anet. Wheeeee!
I, for one, welcome our new eco-friendly overlord.
Ricochet.
I tried several of the 1-15 zones & found TONS of iron & silver but ZIPPO copper
Also had a look on YouTube for advice/locations & turned up copper-less as well
1-15 zones ONLY have copper nodes. They don’t have any silver or iron at all. 15-25 zones mostly have those (and sometimes copper in lower-level areas of the map).
I wish I had your problems. I’m still at the point where I don’t have enough laurels to deck out all my characters in ascended trinkets.
(I don’t do fractals or WVW or wherever else you can get them otherwise, obviously)
With the addition of Revenant, OCD players everywhere rejoiced because the game now has 3 classes for every profession type, which is very neat. But there is still a small problem: health pools.
Soldier/Heavy professions include Warrior with high HP, Revenant with medium HP and Guardian with low HP. Perfect.
Scholar/Light professions include Necromancer with high HP, Mesmer with medium HP and Elementalist with low HP. Once again, sweet sweet symmetry.
But wait, what is this? Adventurer/Medium professions include two classes with medium HP (Ranger and Engineer) and a class with low HP (Thief). Outrageous!
The solution is simple: buff health pools for either Ranger or Engi! Preferably Ranger, I suppose. They need all the help they can get, and Druid with its healing theme would probably have some use for that. DO IT!
P.S. This is not an entirely serious thread, please don’t treat it as such.
P.P.S. Fess up if you thought this thread would be about (a)symmetrical armors.

I asked Anet to remove the Kyesjard POI, because it’s a moot point.
Why did Mordremoth and Zhaitan’s acting careers fail?
Mordremoth was wooden and Zhaitan corpsed a lot.
Because once you unlock them all, you get 5 tickets back as a reward, which would essentially make them free if they had been priced at 1 ticket.
17. Complaining about the same things over and over and over again, especially when you have no constructive thoughts to offer.
- Why was an asura turned away at the restaurant?
- He forgot to bookah table.
Ooh, I’ve never thought of that before. Sounds like a very nice cheap(er) way to obtain all colors.
I’ve been maining Guardian for about a year now… and only yesterday I accidentally hit a movement key and found out to my great surprise that Renewed Focus doesn’t root you when channeling. I have no idea why I even thought it rooted me, it probably had to do with the animation. For almost a YEAR I stood still when channeling it. My face still hurts from the facepalms.
Now let’s hear about your top fails in the game. It could be anything, really. Tell us about that one time (or several times) you felt stupid!
No. Just no. This game already has too many currencies to keep track of.
(20% more damage on pistol doesn’t count)
It does for me! It’ll still be near-useless without Ricochet, but it’s a step in the right direction.
Also, I’m pretty sure many people have been asking for Ice Bow nerf, they’ll definitely be pleased.
Also also, thanks for the Flamethrower AA buff, as well.
Also also also (this is the last also, I promise!), I admittedly QQ’d a little about the FMW nerf, cause the way it was supposedly abused barely applied to the way I play (i.e., mostly roaming open world alone). But whatever, I don’t care THAT much. Maybe they’ll make it instant-cast like the other shouts (hey, I can dream).
