Thief, probably.
It’s in an extra shared slot. Should still be there when you switch characters.
My power Reaper got an almost pure buff, I’m not even joking. Focus CD reduction and damage buffs are just what I needed to compensate for taking Bitter Chill over Spiteful Talisman. Chill duration reductions across the board are almost completely irrelevant to me as long as they don’t take away actual ways of applying Chill.
So yeah, I’m happy with this. I may be the only one, eh?
First-gen legendaries require dungeon currency, and I don’t do dungeons.
Second-gen legendaries require too much time in HoT and more mastery points than I can gather in the foreseeable future.
Materials-wise, I could afford it. I even started half-heartedly working on HOPE, but I’m still at tier 1.
About time.
/15 angry charrs
Yes, you get them from HoT story achievements.
Wow…on the warrior’s warhorn he appears FOUR times across 2 skill icons!
Well, at least it’s a rare case where he’s having a relatively good time!
You know, the guy who gets stabbed/cleaved/frozen/sunk/bound/harmed in other elaborate ways on a whole bunch of skill icons. He should join a union or something. Unless it’s a whole bunch of different guys (or even girls!), in which case I recommend a support group.
His picture on Murky Water icon is especially melancholy. You just know how sad and tired of it all he is. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Murky_Water.png

I wouldn’t bet on anything changing, tbh.
As for the grind… I dunno, by the time I decided to deck my main in ascended gear, I already had, like, 70-80% of mats I needed. Now I’ve got two chars in fully ascended, 2 pieces away from the third (and the big fat achievement)… and it didn’t feel much like a grind at all. Though I did buy most of the mats for the subsequent chars.
Minions and maybe Well of Suffering while leveling. The well hits like a truck.
I get them quite often…I must have 30 in the bank and various characters.
Same. And I also got one a few days ago, so they still drop.
OPEN WORLD TWEAKS, BUG FIXES, POLISH
Wayfarer Foothills
- Made Linnea finally realize that Bjarni had been replaced by his evil twin brother Igmar. The “Yeti” remains a Jotun.
- Incorporated Linnea-Bjarni-Igmar love triangle into LS3.
Snowden Drifts
- Added Edward Snowden NPC to the Order of Whispers hideout.
Mount Maelstrom
- Replaced Megadestroyer with Gigadestroyer. Gigadestroyer now summons three Megadestroyers at 75%, 50% and 25% health.
Plains of Ashford, Diessa Plateau, Fields of Ruin, Blazeridge Steppes, Iron Marches, Fireheart Rise
- Convinced Separatists to wear armor.
Verdant Brink
- Replaced Pocket Raptors with Pocket Smokescales.
- Coztic Itzel Belongings Hero Challenge: Replaced Veteran Wasp with Champion Wasp, replaced regular Wasps with Veteran Wasps.
Nah man, it has to be krait. I can’t wait for the personal story consisting of gathering wet planks, building a shoddy tower out of them, putting a vista on top, CC’ing adventurers from the top platform and celebrating with a glass of quaggan tears*.
(* – I actually like quaggans, but I was in character, man)
I’m trying to make lore-appropriate names. Most of the time my first choices are taken, of course. Failing that, I just pick something that sounds pleasant to me and doesn’t stray too much from the lore.
I’m also addicted to Anglo-Saxon-ish names that end with -ric: my main (Norn guardian) has the first name Wulfric, and I also have a Human warrior whose first name is Rodric.
I struggled for ages with the name for my Sylvari necro, eventually gave up on making it (even vaguely) Celtic and started remembering character names I used to make up in other games… eventually I settled on Erzai, which I was shocked to discover was not taken!
At this point there should be an achievement for finding an unused name that’s less than 6 characters long and at least sounds like something (and not just a jumble of letters).
Exploration (even on alts).
And that is why it’s a completely optional area with nothing of interest save for a jumping puzzle and two achievements.
I disagree with the OP, however I feel that one thing that should’ve been made account-wide is the achievement availability for LS2. I still haven’t got around to doing that, it just feels weird having to repeat the same story on the same character in order to get achievements.
The real reason why many (not saying everyone) like him is because he’s less of a mentor and more of a funny sidekick, completely non-threatening to their macho egos. Many people REALLY hate anyone who even appears to outrank or somehow overshadow them. That’s why many like Tybalt and hate Trahearne.
I still maintain that Balthazar’s Staff is an underrated melee choice. I bet those horns hurt quite a bit.
But what I find more annoying (and this is not only true for PS but also meta events) is the crappy pathing npcs get. You know where they always double back just to make sure they are on the right track!
I take it as a necessary evil. Better than them getting stuck and bugging out their quests.
Sylvari eat meat just fine ^^
This. There’s ambient dialogue to that effect, as well.
I main Guardian, and it’s still fun for me. Our greatsword is my favorite weapon in the entire game, because it just… does everything. AoE, distance closer, three combo finishers (none of them blast, but w/e), CC…
I had to buy the focus because, rather shockingly, it almost doesn’t clip through Sylvari hand when stowed, unlike EVERY OTHER FOCUS IN THE ENTIRE GAME. They’re usually either clipping or hanging in the air a good few centimeters from the body, but in this case the upper part at least looks attached, albeit a bit awkwardly.
Plus, it fits my Sylvari’s color scheme, so it’s a double success. Goodbye Tribal Focus.
Yeah, of all the races Tengu are the most likely to be added because of a number of things, including the aforementioned basic Charr animations and the fact that the Dominion of Winds map looks like it could fit nicely in the existing world* (albeit a bit too close to two already existing starting zones and cities).
But “most likely” doesn’t mean, you know, likely. Adding a new race would require much more of a rework than you’d think, what with the entire personal story and other related areas that would need a significant adjustment.
If I were a betting man, I’d say there won’t be another playable race. But if there will be, it’ll be Tengu for sure.
*In other news, we’re going after Kralkatorrik next. I mean, THE GATE IS RIGHT THERE, in Fields of Ruin.
take off ur mix of soldier and zerker, its horrifically inefficient, run marauder mixed with commander/crusader , give u great damage/crit chance and survival. quad stat gear grant more stats than tri stat, if you are gonna mix always mix quad stats. other wise you are losing a lot for small gain no gain.
Um, thanks for the advice, I guess? I’ve got no desire to optimize anything whatsoever.
For starters, if I wanted to be efficient, I’d take the Dragonhunter line.

My main is a horrifically non-meta GS/Sc-F medi guard. Mostly soldier gear with some berserker and even knight/cavalier trinkets mixed in (some were actually chosen for lore/RP reasons).
I like it and hate it at the same time. It’s cool to never really die all that much in PvE, but on the other hand, having FIVE healing skills on the bar has really skewed my perception of what utilities should do and has made playing every other class a lot more… difficult.
I did it on my first try. I’m not even bragging, I’m a very bad player. Just happened to do it on the mostly-Soldier medi guard, and there was no problem whatsoever.
I did get downed every time Mordie did his area attack, cause I was stupid enough not to realize you can glide around when it happens. Every time I got downed, it was right at the end of the attack period, and I just revived myself with skill 4.
I’ll be honest, I did not expect to survive that fight at the very first attempt.
How could you miss Explorer Rokk and Scholar Rolla, a couple of asura who are part of an event in Orr? (Hint… Rokk and Rolla…)
There are also Wark and Wode in Blazeridge Steppes.
Well, there is Lexi Price. It does sound like adult-movies-star name to me
Oh yeah, absolutely. I’ve noticed that as well.
Somehow the bear’s bottom to the right caught my eye more, iunno maybe it’s just me
You’re not the only one. The character that’s just BEARly in the shot on the far right is also checking out dat bear booty.
I want to craft Mawdrey, and I’m up to the point where I need to make the Mists Infused Clay Pot… which requires 5 pristine fractal relics. I’m terrible at any sort of “harder” content (and I don’t have any friends in the game to drag my sorry behind through it). Is there some… I dunno, trick or some knowledge that can make it possible for me to obtain those relics while being as bad as I am?
Thanks for all the suggestions!
Man, I feel squishy in HoT even with Valkyrie armor. I’ll have to invest in Toughness. Yes, l2p, l2p. Playing soldier medi guard ruined my perception of sustain.
First things first: Like it says in the title, it’s an overland PvE build. I’m doing stuff alone most of the time, so I don’t care all that much about helping allies with this one. I’m also not very good at the game, and I’m not going to get better. Slow reaction times is something I can’t fix.
I’m currently leveling a necro with a view of making it a power Spite/Soul Reaping/Reaper with Valkyrie armor and Berserker/Valkyrie trinkets, and I could use some perspective regarding trait choices I just can’t make my mind up on.
Bitter Chill vs. Spiteful Talisman
I’m planning to run D/F as my primary set, so Spiteful Talisman looks rather useful. PvE mobs rarely have any boons, so that 5% would be active most of the time as well. Bitter Chill is, however, also an attractive option, especially if I take Decimate Defenses in the Reaper line (which I’m also not 100% certain of).
Soul Marks vs. Unyielding Blast
Soul Marks looks like a better deal, but I’m not planning to use staff in my usual rotation. I’ll keep it for bosses and other cases when range is necessary, but other than that I’ll stick to D/F. Unyielding Blast could help in keeping up max Vulnerability (especially if I end up taking Bitter Chill).
Decimate Defenses vs. Chilling Victory
I’m leaning heavily towards DD, but since I need survivability in tougher zones (as I’m running alone most of the time), I’ll probably take Blighter’s Boon as the GM trait, so extra might can be useful for more healing in shroud and more LF generation outside of it.
Thoughts?
Yep, same thing here. And it’s NOT an old bug, we’re talking about a different thing here.
You think Divinity’s Reach is fun to glide in? You should try Black Citadel.
This could be fun as well, but… I just don’t feel that I’m a hero Black Citadel deserves.
…is so much fun, I don’t even. I got so much silly enjoyment out of this today. Came for the exploration XP, stayed for playing Batman!
The lines your character is supposed to say/yell when he/she scores a crit are played when a crit is scored ON your char. This has been the case since I started playing ages ago.
Reported time and time again, nothing is being done.
Still easier than the Dry Top goggles jump.
Do you mean the Jungle Tendril attack, OP? Dodging those has been a must since forever (well, since LS2). Those attacks are super-easy to avoid, tbh. An L2P issue if I’ve ever seen one.
If anything, Smokescale and Snipers are a far greater annoyance.
(edited by Ariurotl.3718)
Every class that isn’t engi.
Engi can be lazy. Just equip FT, trait it and never stop.
I’m a tarantula keeper, and I’d like to see more big, fuzzy and colorful spiders in this game! :P
- Beat the HoT story for the first time just now.
- Got the rewards.
- The description for Victor’s Cache promises a vision crystal.
- No vision crystal inside.
- Not listed as a reward on the wiki either.
Way to lift my spirits and send them back to the ground within seconds, Anet! Just… fix the description. I’ll go back to farming Empyreal fragments, I guess.
I miss it as well. Before the big patch that removed Ricochet and rebalanced level scaling, P/P was the most satisfying thing ever for me in PvE.
I barely touched my thief since.
I find the best way to get the daily on this map is wait for the Order of Whispers chain (3 events) and then hang out with the Kodan until either the emissary or the assassin event happens.
Your tone suggests you don’t REALLY want to purchase Divine Lucky Envelope.
Dragon’s Jade Lacerator for Shiro imo.
I vote for Drooburt.
New mechanic: thirst.
My torch is close to going out and I re-sharpened my pitchfork eight times.
