Interesting idea, in ESO my ping EU was 97 my ping US was 400~. If the ping would be like this in gw2 i would have serious problems fullfilling my role in a guild zerg though…

gw2 isn’t eso. I don’t have a clue where the eso servers are based or what my pings would be like there though.

what is your gw2 ping?
what is your ping to the other side of the pond?
I personally get reliably ~140ms going to NA servers.

edit: for pve & pvp, I would love being able to switch between EU and NA ‘districts’.

WvW map queues

Being able to view map queues might be useful for those deciding which server to go to.
It would also be an interesting stat to compare match scores against.

I can see how it might be exploitable for gauging enemy movements ( if the zerg moving causes a queue), but it would be a level playing field for each server anyway.
Maybe update once/tick or something so there is a buffer on being able to use it as a precursor to an attack on another map.

People not using CC

Yeah. I’ve been learning what my class’s "CC"s are, but It’s really kitten hard to figure out what counts for breaking the Breakbars or not.So far, all I’ve confirmed are Stun and Daze are “CC” skills, but Immobilize and Cripple (The ones I have more access to most of the time) apparently aren’t.

stun and daze are hard CC.
As are things like knock down and knock back ( or blowout), pull, float and sink.

Taunt & to a lesser degree slow should probably be classified as hard CC too, since they can’t be removed.

Imob, cripple, chill, weakness are soft CC. They will still count for break bars for most fights.

Fear is a weird in between soft & hard CC, it can be stun broke and condi cleared, but its a hard control effect upon what your character does.

Longer, and stronger CC will do more to break bar ( most things tick like condis do for hp).
But do keep in mind some bosses are immune to some effects, so it is dependent upon the fight as well as your class.

Suggestion for Raids - Sigils

If anet wanted stacking sigils to be useful with raids there would be so many better ways. Like every time you phase a boss stacking sigils gain 5 stacks or adds granting a stack when killed.

Only reason the adds don’t is cause no exp ( & no loot).
mobs in story instances don’t add stacks either.

Would be interesting being able to stack these easily before a boss though.

Cloaking waters seems fine to me. The duration shouldn’t be nerfed. Otherwsie you make it entirely pointless. Add a 2-3 min cd before you can restealth via the waters would be fine imo. Still useful for the occasional sneak attack, but not allowing every single time you push to be a full cloaked zerg.

SMC should be a nightmare to take, if it has defenders.Before it was far to fragile to be called a castle.
However it should be possible to do.. Esp when BG runs away from JQ/IoJ zergs half their size.

I find LI a really bad indicator..
gear check is a start.. particularly the runes/sigils equipped.
Trait check is actually much more informative of a players level of class competency.
Mechanics quizzing tends to be the most reliable.
But is often tedious and time consuming to check things. LI ping is fast and easy for both sides.

However checking traits and gear, also allows us to offer advice on how they can improve (often times people just plain don’t know, and are willing to change things up. Provided you can provide a decent reason why x works better than y).

Being able to ping full build&gear templates would be amazing for this.

To be blunt its mostly l2p.
A strong group comp will go miles towards making it easier though.

As has been mentioned, bring personal reflects ( like aftershock), glyph of storms in earth for mass blinds. drop into water for extra heals.

if you have a war or rev, ask them to might stack, things should die before you do.
Ideally you’d have both, along with a chrono and probably a DD on competent, but pug roulette is a gamble..

Yeah I mean in game – over the avatar’s head.
They were there until recently, Tuesdays quarterly patch I think.

Its odd I remember the option a few months ago(when raids first came out), but the toggle being gone recently ( couple of weeks ago). But literally everyone I’ve mentioned it to tells me it wasn’t a thing. Maybe I need to start drinking half cups of tea.

I can’t find a thread on this topic on this forum..

Coming from a raid groups primary druid* , but also for things like backline support ele in wvw comes to mind..

*particularly at matthias where it is required to not be standing on a certain spot, and those moving out may or may not need extra healing.

The health bar removal makes playing a heal support class very tedious.
Having to check if a person needs healing, or wasting a heal on a person who doesn’t need it is resulting in taking much longer to get heals where they need to be.
I’m finding I’m spending more time in CA finding or checking a persons hp than healing.

Either by having to click the player avatar to see the health bar above that, or clicking squad UI, and then finding the persons name plate.

I could swear this used to be a checkbox in the options, but I keep getting told it wasn’t.

Can we have the health bars back ( or at least a toggle for it, independent of name plates) please?

So.
I want to try a few different sigils on condi engi,
Such as bursting Vs earth vs geomancy vs malice ( since i am too cheap to run toxic crystals all the time in raids).

Only I don’t want to make another asc viper pistol..
And I don’t want to spend 10g /pop on the bursting sigil I’d have to replace.

So this raid dps trials thing makes me want sigil swapping even more!!
But I can’t try things out without spending a huge amount of gold.
:(

So to bring this back on topic..

Reasons for moving:
Better suited for international guilds or players with friends on other timezones
Easier to find pugs to fill spots, due to less time restrictions
more free time for the majority of people to spend hours practicing, especially to get those initial kills for new to raid players.
Better quality players having more concurrent free time not having to get up for work the next day etc.
less stressful than trying to cram a raid into a night with work the next morning.
Gives people time to do dungeons/fractals during the week, then do both raids and fotm/dungeons at a weekend.

Reasons against moving:
my guild group does it on mondays
i like mondays

Reset time is unlikely to change. We picked the time slot based off player concurrency during the week and when it was least likely to disrupt coordinated players that raid multiple days in a row.

My thoughts so far:

So stats taken from before raids were released? Which had no raiders at that point. Which are now biased due to the reset itself. Those metrics do not sound reliable.

And to paraphrase: we want people to raid more than one day per week.
I think getting people to raid more than once is a different topic that is related to repeat rewards being potentially negative in value( counting food and retries for people to learn).

Guild groups could still raid on a monday. A reset nearer the weekend doesn’t mean an end to your guilds “Raiding Mondays”. There will still be those who couldn’t get on at the weekend. Then those who insist they like mondays also.

Sorry but that makes it sound like guess work at best.

At worst sounds like it has been chosen by tiny minority of “hardcore guilds/players”.

Again I’m seeing posts along the lines of " I’m ok with it thanks, screw you"

Those who aren’t familiar names from a hard-core crowd all seem to be making the same statements I am: a reset closer to the weekend would make it easier to form up.

Which is a joke. Those with regular nights with a static 10 group can still run on mondays if it changes. Yet those who have a more casual guild, who cant reliably be on at the same time every day/week.. Are being kittened.

well, gives people motivation to l2p and do 76+. Along with the agony check..
better rewards for those who are able to do it – I don’t see any problem here.

Also swamps of the mists was never how fotm was intended to be played ( proved by the rework of daily achieves for it)

Also the daily loot boxes didn’t seem to have bad loot last night ( on top of the encryption keys).

Should point out I got 8-9g+ liquid gold from vendoring junk.

But my group cleared yesterdays 3 76+ fractals in around 30 mins. So maybe that is why it feels better than the slow but easy daily 2g.

Have you tried killing slothosaur when a random pug keeps dropping poison on the group?
The notion that one pug can’t screw your group is laughable.

Not being able to tell the difference in quality of pugs is a knowledge/skill problem. Sorry, but that is a l2p issue on your part if you cant tell any difference.

The problem with “recruiting” raiders at weekends, is mostly it’ll be people who missed their guild group, or aren’t good enough to find a guild group to invite them in. Your suggestions are what happens during the week as well. They are in no way unique ideas.
They would also be equally if not more effective with a weekend reset.

You seem to be missing that the majority of people have more time free at weekends.

Again your post is just " i’m ok with mondays, thanks"
disregarding that having it on a weekend would not affect you personally in the slightest, while making raiding much more accessible to many.

And what prevents you from raiding at weekend right now? I do that almost every week. You get your kills before reset anyway.

Some have already done it. Particularly those on different timezones.
Quality of pugs to fill a last spot or two turns to trash because decent players have already done it. People don’t want to repeat because the “reward” is negative ( food costs etc).
tl;dr: its harder & slower to form a reliable group at a weekend due to reset.

Your comment sounds very similar to “I’m alright with monday reset, thanks”. Which is funny considering it would make it easier for you too.

So, given many of us ( or I’d like to think so) have day jobs..
and many of us (at least my guildies/raid core group) now want to run some fractals and dungeons again..

Not only did it already make sense given the time demands to practice/train people..
It now makes even more sense to raid when we have more free time to fit it in.

some reasons brought up before:
International players can interact and makes filling 10 squad rosta easier.
Time investments required for players to learn/complete.
More casual player friendly ( note: casual =/= bad).

new reasons:
easier to do shorter content during the week, longer content at weekends.
Gives people better opportunity to get geared for raids.

arguments against:
reset conflicting with wvw – make it a different time then – say 3-6 hours way from wvw reset?

“I’m ok with Monday thanks” – sadly I’ve heard this on this forum over this idea. I think the flaw of this notion speaks for itself.

TL:DR:
raid reset nearer/over weekend pls.

I’d like to see superior runes and sigils become forgeable like minor/major ones, instead of not working in the mystic toilet because…. reasons?

That would go a long way to standardizing the price of them (like it does for the lower tiers, where even the terrible ones are worth something), so 90% of them aren’t literally worthless anymore.

Completely off topic, but that wouldn’t be a bad idea either.
This probably wants its own thread suggesting it ;-)

This is my point of its 6 hrs of gameplay of there abouts ….and you want to swap between pact runes (for WvW) and scholar (for PVE)- why should you be spending all your gold for rune swapping ?

Don’t players have other things they want to spend gold on like:
WvW Siege, Food, Putting towards there first legendary?

It seems to me that you want to punish players who want to do multiple modes of gameplay.

What are you so scared of?
The prices of high end runes/sigils won’t suddenly go down. This is why I have stated it is ‘per armor piece’ and ‘per weapon’.

So if I have two great swords:
Ascended Greatsword – from Necro Specilisation
Ascended Sunless Greatsword – from Tequatl

If I put a superior sigil of force on the Teq Greatsword it is not unlocked on my Necro Specilisation Greatsword. If I choose to ‘unlock’ every sigil on my Teq weapon – I can change game modes in PVE, WvW, test stuff out without incurring extra costs, react to a future meta shift quickly.
The only sigil unlocked on my Necro ascended weapon is the starter one- if I want access to more I have to unlock them.
Most players will then either (a) swap weapons via bank of (b) start to unlock runes on 2nd Greatsword for ease of use. I know many will prefer to also unlock on there 2nd weapon.

You would be surprised what the majority of players have – those with HoT have accessibility to ascended weapons via HoT.
ANET have also given out several pieces of ascended armor via collections.

From years of dungeon running – I can confirm that there is a large player base who run expensive sigils / runes regularly. The advantage it gives is not a placebo and was worth it. With raids players are even more insistent on being geared correctly before even allowing you to step inside.

But if you stat swap the ascended weapon you lose everything. that includes runes and infusions. Now I think if this could be stopped ANet would have done it, it clearly is not something that is easy to do. what we need to know is, if this is something that could be easy to do. Which the ability to tie it to weapons might be doable, but then if you change the stats on said weapons because of a meta change, you will have to start over. Having them tied to a weapon is a good way to balance things out, but having them to character, that might be harder to do again, as it would involve changing how sigils worth with weapons.

So we’re back to:
“I don’t want to lose all my sigils/runes when i stat swap in the forge”

Well.. thats how it is now.
I fail to see why being able to select from a range of runes/sigils has to make that change.

So.. I see two sides of an argument: that sigil prices will sky rocket – AND that they will plummet.. But neither side of the argument is very compelling.

I see baseless assumptions about what “the majority” are using.
I see self contradictions in posts.

All in an economy anet directly has control over, via craft recipes and drop rates.

It’s almost like the arguments are a veil for “QQ someone might make money off shifting prices”

Indeed. I’m willing to bet most people don’t even change the stats on there legendary weapons.

Because people don’t do it largely due to:
1) cost
2)inconvenience ( build templates are on the to-do list so that is largely moot)
3) I do swap stats on legendaries, but not being able to swap sigils vastly limits the use of that. I know plenty who have the exact same complaint about stat swapping.

What would the effect be on the economy?
Runes:
Short-Term: Increase in niche/standard runes so they are unlocked on ascended armor.
Long-Term: Stability in the market across more runes as players unlock niche runes on armor. This would also encourage players to get some of the HoT Runes for unlocking on an ascended armor set (Leadership/Thorn etc).

This would ensure that individuals who want multiple armor sets/toons would be unlocking runes on each character. By requiring a rune unlock on each armor set this does not have the effect of destroying the current economy and still allow people to swap armor between characters.

Economically speaking what will happen is the direct opposite. Literally the direct opposite. In the Short-Run people will buy up runes, even common ones, to completely deplete the pool of resources. It will not play out as a community pool but almost the direct opposite where prices skyrocket for all runes and sigils and then stay high long-term resulting in a decrease in highly valuable or difficult to attain rune sets and sigils.

To illustrate Mithril went up in price. Now Mithral is more abundant than the air you breathe in that game; it is the primary metal on level 80 equipment so it’s salvaged far more than other metals are since equipment is for player level, it is easy to mine, it has many nodes, and really there would be no way for their to be a shortage. So why did the price rise?

Utility. More stuff needs it and that stuff has amazing utility and permanence, so in your logic the price should have decreased, that is people would relinquish their hold on the resource more easily because there’s simply no reason to hold and hoard the resource but the opposite occurs; the more valuable the resource, esp. when considering one-off behavior, the more it costs!

Demand for Sigils and Runes under this system goes way up, too far up actually, because even with the introduction of more options now you still require six of each one, they have no “resale” value meaning a player buys it once and is done, and they have incredible utility.

Market prices are specifically driven down by marginal utility. When there’s no marginal utility market prices almost always just go up. Obviously there’s nothing marginal to a complete collection of effects to choose from on the fly. In the real world commodities and necessities like food versus furniture work this way; you can’t charge a lot for a banana because it has limited utility; you eat it and it is gone and you will need another one, but you can charge an incredible amount for a sofa despite the sofa costing far less to produce dollar per dollar than the banana because of its long-term utility. One is an investment and one is a sunk cost.

TLDR; Sigils and Runes must never experience this system. It would be an economic catastrophe.

Going to break up your post to reply – there is several points here.

Mithril – salvage rates got nerfed. Meaning supply went down.
Demand went way up ( guild halls using a few thousand ingots each for example).
More people using things like sharpening stones for raids.
New Legendary collections use this material.

Price went up? No sherlock, really? ( paraphrased due to forum kitties).
Not to sound abusive, but you really shouldn’t have been surprised mithril went up either. it was next to worthless.

Demand for runes/sigils going up – lots are at minimum vendor price. Explain how demand going up for these is a bad thing please?

The final point: you’re talking as if a sigil/rune would be unlocked on a character or account not a single piece of gear. Who’s to say you don’t lose ALL runes on a piece when its forged to get another stat? Then there is wanting new weapons and armor sets for different stats or alts.
Coupled with that many refuse to change the runes they use due to the negative feedback of “overwriting” existing upgrades. The consumption of sigils/runes for those that are currently meta won’t change particularly. The niche runes move off vendor price and those crummy worthless exotics people complain about getting very rarely? They might not be so worthless anymore. Which sounds like a good thing to me ( yay my rare loot is worth more than a 5min ac p1).

Based on what assumptions?

That people change sigils & runes all the time?

All evidence I’ve seen is to the contrary – that people change sigils/runes as infrequently as possible. Many preferring to craft another asc armor set of the same stats to avoid having to swap runes all the time.

Having to get the sigil/rune for each piece of gear is pretty much the situation we have now. However niche sigil/rune prices would skyrocket – due to being able to effectively apply more than one upgrade to a piece of gear, people wanting to experiment, have them as options, or simply because of completionists wanting every rune possible – I know a few who would do this too.

If the demand for runes/sigils does drop off ( unlikely until every player in the game has every stat gear* with every rune/sigil* on it for every char/class) then there is always tweaking of drop rates.

*desirable and/or useful for current and all future possible metas in all game formats.

And this would be a better option than the upgrade extractor.

Anyone remember how common it was to get Unidentified Dyes when you could only unlock them on one character vs how rare it is to get them now that they are unlocked for all characters on the account?

This would have to happen to all runes and sigils out there in order to not tank the rune/sigil market. The drop rate they currently have would have to be lowered very significantly.

I think we came to the same thought about drop rates and I like your example. I doubt it would need to be altered to quite the extreme that dye was, bearing in mind the suggestion is still requiring unlock PER PIECE of gear ( not per char or per account).

It’s a big change.
It would likely be much easier to justify dev time when it would benefit far more players than just those with legendaries ( as the rune/sigil unlock for legendaries only is not a new idea).

The flexibility this would add to raids wvw even open world (thinking solo vs zerg as the most obvious difference) would be nice.

Those who are fiercely against a meta would benefit from this just as much as those who want to min/max their squad.
Easier experimentation.
Which doesn’t feel like a punishment for wanting to try a different rune set (Losing the previous rune set having to replace that rune set afterwards.. yuck.)

Then there is the fact it would potentially bump up the price of niche runes. Cause people will inevitably want to unlock different runes for different content.
This also raises the value of a lot of exotic items ( who wants to get an exotic drop then find its only worth 50s? kinda disappointing..)

I do think that build templates would be HIGHLY desirable with this. But that isn’t a bad thing imo.

ACs, the way I see it, should be a purely defensive siege option. An anti-siege option, if you will. Similar to the way ballistas work, except with AoE, as well as having siege damage nerfed to players, but increased hard against other siege.

That way you could take out enemy siege with ACs pretty quickly as a defensive option (let’s say, 5-7k damage per tick rather than 1-1.5k on siege structures), while still forcing you to fight to defend your structure if they break in. It should not be an anti-zerg tool.

The current mindset is that a few people should be allowed to hold a structure against a larger force indefinitely without having to fight for it. I think all this does is encourage siege bunkering – something that is extremely boring to play against. We need to encourage more fighting for structures, not sieging.

To wade into this argument the damage to players doesn’t need a (heavy) nerf. The damage to siege DOES. As mentioned by others we have bali’s for that.

It would be interesting though perhaps ill-thought to give balis a damage reduction to siege.
Perhaps a little damage boost to gates, so we have another (read: viable) option for DBL siege attacks.

I’m personally seeing almost no one running dungeons.
I’m also personally seeing almost no one running fractals swamps.
Raids aren’t coming anything close to the kind of gold I used to get from dungeons.

swamps might give some liquid gold each day – personally a full set of dailys i might get 10g liquid. and a few silver in mats.

or I could farm meta events and get mostly materials ( things i’d end up buying with the liquid gold anyway).

In my experience, those I raid with aren’t really getting a worthwhile amount of loot from the raids ( lol, spirit vale half loot, be lucky to see people bother outside of shard capping). With food costs, and the initial outlay for asc gear ( which is now more expensive than ever to make).
There is also significantly fewer actual ascended drop rates coming out of fractals, which also has an impact on demand for materials.

The opinions expressed in this thread seem to be along the lines of “I’m earning more gold than ever”, but what seems to be overlooked is that is gold from trading materials, not liquid gold directly.
What happens when the people you’re selling materials to run out of gold? Your materials won’t sell. and material prices fall.

Seems like a lot of people ( perhaps John Smith included ) expected material prices to fall much faster than they have (lol, GH material vacuum + scribing + raised ascended crafting ). Indeed demand seems to be a much bigger factor than supply ( especially given supply is in theory higher than pre hot).

shiney baubles are pretty restricted as to which maps they are coming from at any given time. Though it is nice when they are up on a meta map. They also don’t drop that often to really raise the income that much.

On the topic of distributing the income: why do so many still think being able to afk spam 1 while watching netflix on the other monitor should be equally ( or currently superiorly) rewarding as something intense or significantly challenging (comparatively) such as raiding? Sounds like communism to me.

TL;DR

People aren’t making more value (read: money) than before particularly.
Much less gold income, but more materials.
Material prices holding steady or raised considerably.
HUGE material demand is what is causing this weird state (which hasn’t slowed at anything like the rate it maybe should have).

I’ve been thinking flax req should be reduced to 10 for a while.
Thinking about how many of thousands of flax needed for a hall I kinda want it reduced to 5. But 10 would still be a good improvement.

I understand that there are vendors gated behind gathering glad/linseed which directly reduce the cost of scribing. So making these cheaper to get would directly reduce the scribe cost.

This and pigment req reduced to 1 from 10 on scribing kits..

They can just put a skill/utility on auto.

- Within 5 minutes the person has not traveled at least 10,000 units.

Would cause a lot of people who are actively contributing to be kicked out.

10,000 units is 10 seconds walking. I doubt it.
You can’t put an auto attack on auto without a mob killing you before you kill it. HoT maps, not vanilla.

Criticism is a good idea when you can actually make a valid point.

1) log in
2) put heal ability to auto
3) observe skill activations
4) take your own advice make sure you understand the facts, before falling foul of your own criticism.

Also I estimate 10,000 units to be more like 30s of walking without movement buffs. Based on it taking me ~ 10s to go just over 3,000 in my guild hall just now. I actually could see this being an issue at some events.

The biggest issue here is when a large character model obscures of enemy, or raid commander, not your own character.

I found it could pose an issue for mossman & gouge, or any boss that isnt gigantic. The visibility is vital for timing aegis any active defences, rather than just spamming buttons while sitting in an exploit (safe) spot.

Vale guardian’s melee attack can be obscured, making it that much harder to avoid.
Even the blue teleport, often I can ONLY see the vertical blue part of the tell, and not the actual ground aoe.
Especially if you get 2-3 of those huge kitten wing backpacks.

Using Sabetha’s flamewall mechanics for an example, sometimes you want to stack on a particular side of her, to limit where the flamewall starts to make things easier for those going for cannons.
However it can be difficult to locate the commander tag, amongst all the character models.

I wonder, how many players haven’t seen a problem, simply don’t see it because they don’t watch for skill telegraphs?

Something to add:
Got “Spectral Balm” tonight.
This is the gorseval accessory.
No viper stats.
Apparently there is 2 accessories, however I’m going to suggest that the other one is unique, just like my new spectral balm ( which has zealot stats, which I may use for my druid).

Given that its unique – no having 2 asc zealots accessories?
Alternatively no having two viper accessories?
Same applies for the other stat options I suppose – but these two i know are popular choices for raiding.

Seems like they need to include a wider selection of stats, or not be unique.
The former of those two seems like a better option to me.

I’m guessing this hasn’t been noticed much as they are rng and probably not too many players have them yet.
