This is something I’ll report up to them this week. I strongly agree with this idea and believe it was an oversight that they weren’t present when the raid was released.
Dungeon accessories to dungeon vendor (hahaha) as well please <3.
Or take a middle ground and add them to commendation vendor. The inconsistency (and ridiculous laurel gate) hurts.
after you unlock them via the collection I hope.
Assuming this caveat, +1
+1
They should be on the shard vendor item list.
Ideally for a bit less than 600 as trinkets typically are easier to get. Maybe around 350-500 depending on which trinket it is. Amulet > ring > accessory for costs in that range. But available at all would be a fine improvement.
The dps check isn’t remotely difficult on vg. It’s not that difficult on gorse tbh.
It’s mostly learning the mechanics and not being the “rabbit in headlights”.
With a bit of learn your classes mixed in for some players.
My guild is in the same state of numbers as yours. Which is indeed an issue. Reset needs to move to weekend or be daily. More threads and eventually anet may hear us.
Is the loot from the ground chest any better in say cliff side compared to swamp?
We generally haven’t had the inclination to try and find out ourselves.
+1
Simply because: I’ll be able to form groups at weekends again, when most people actually have time to practice.
5% increase to speed of all actions?
Or whatever value seems balanced.
I’d be all for that util consumable.
Would be sad to see it nerfed. The game needs more challenging content. Even raids (with Eternal) are too easy.
No, the game doesn’t need more challenging content, it needs more FUN content. Challenge =/= fun
This.
Open world doesn’t need to be super hardcore, just relaxing and fun. For everyone.
Similarly, organisational nightmares aren’t fun for all due to open world being suspects me to trolls.
Glad to see people will do this now!
On the plusside, as u pick up pugs u can just add them, and eventually u have ppl to ask
Oh we have been for months via dungeons and Fotm.
The problem is still timezone mismatch for a lot of them, so either not on, or already done it. Such is the way with a weekly lockout. It happened a lot with dungeons and a daily lockout too. Just less so due to finding 5 being much easier and being able to trio without much real difference besides time to complete.
Back on topic: how long does it take to fill those 3 raid spots on EU?
So you are on Piken Square which is an EU Server.
Please Read the post – this is about EU Players trying to find people (and decent qualitY) on NA SErvers.
Almost. It’s about how it seems to be a very different experience between the server divide.
So for those who are on eu:
Let’s put a scenario out there:
Squad at 7/10.
Needing a herald, engi( or condi war), ps war.
Reasonable standard.. Asc weapons and trinkets, runes and sigils suitable to class. Eg scholar/berserker/str runes respectively. Sigils to compliment them such as force/air for the Rev (and not accuracy sigils for example as Rev will be over 100% crit rate already with buffs).
To find these three classes to that standard, can take 20-120 minutes. Later in the week making it significantly worse for forming. (Which personally means half or more of my available time during the week gone).
How long does it take on an EU server to fill these last 3 slots.
(edited by Artemis Thuras.8795)
We have no trouble finding ppl at any time. The challenge is in providing that u are an exp n serious group lf likeminded, if u care about outcome.
On which timezones are you playing and which server?
Otherwise your comment is meaningless and can be paraphrased to “I don’t have a problem, kitten you for wanting to be able to enjoy it like I can!”
Which helps no one to see the difference between server groups.
(edited by Artemis Thuras.8795)
so..
What server are you on?
Desolation by the sig.
Which is EU?
which is not NA where in finding there is problems with eu timezones.
So how about feedback on how it’s different instead of trying to say “I don’t have a problem, so there is no problem”.
Also 5 hours from now I will still be in work. Not everyone can finish school then start playing. Where were you going with that?
Also, pls stop with the “form your own group” mantra.
I have a guild. With raid capable players. I am usually stuck finding the last 1-5 slots.
Forming my own group is not a solution to filling up last spots [b]in my own group[\b].
Apparently the difference between “what is it like on the other servers, it’s like this here” and “QQ” was too subtle for you to notice.
@snowball, what time zone are you on?
Edit: referring to the utc times listed above as afternoon-early evening suggests you are on an American timezone.
Also taking 1-2 hours to find players who even have suitable runes and sigils. Unless you are suggesting I take terrible phiws with garenteed failure.
I simply have to wait for east coast us to log in at around 9pm utc to have enough raid capable players.
(edited by Artemis Thuras.8795)
@ phoebe, that is on an EU server?
Where there (should be) people on European time zones, which are ahead of utc.
Such as a German guildie of mine, who is an hour ahead of utc.
Meaning start times of 8-10pm and finish time of 11pm-1am local time for him.
So assuming your times are on eu servers, it sounds to me like EU servers are having to do the same as I am on a us server:
wait til east coast us or those with student schedules from us can get online to bolster the numbers.
Anyone got another view or experience to share on this? 150+ views and no other comments suggest to me that the times posted are pretty much the consensus.
Edit: odd showed 420+ views to the thread before i logged in. Oh well.
(edited by Artemis Thuras.8795)
It’s been 1 day since your original post, support asks for 3 for a response. Sounds like you need to be patient on that score.
As for being able to attune those rings – it would be nice but it’s probably ( should be) so far down the to-do list it’ll never see the light of day.
To clarify ( as if this wasn’t abundantly clear already):
I am on jade quarry a US server I have no desire to move to EU due to guild.
This is why I am asking about what is it like on EU servers.
(edited by Artemis Thuras.8795)
How is it forming a raid group on an EU server ( EU timezone)?
I’m finding we have to wait around till around 9pm UTC til east coast US starts logging in, in order to find enough raid-capable players to attempt with. Meaning half or more of my evenings are gone before I can even start.
Hot map style progress/participation, without any tier cap. Maybe just one repeatable tier. Chuck in some rng on loot bags to vary it.
Put in items needed for wvw hall upgrades.
Add in an achievement for completing the tier so many times for a given map for legendary back peice. Could use loot gotten from killing players too.
Usually we field 5-15 when we do drop into wvw.
The costs seem a bit steep compared to the loot.
Most of the auras seem overpriced anyway.
Claiming is the same issues but much worse. Good sink is vastly higher than what one earns in wvw. And this was core functionality before.
Such steep barrier to +5 supply makes it much harder for us to achieve anything.
(edited by Artemis Thuras.8795)
I actualy agree because ppl from higher leagues are anyway matched up with lowers so whats even point to have leagues? System works basicly same as before now its just make ppl even more angry then before when they lose. Loosing progress isnt fun.
As of Sapphire 3 I have not seen a single Amber since leaving Emerald.
OP: Removing pips keeps people from pushing up divisions with a sub-50% win rate. The entire idea behind the system is that you move up divisions when you’re significantly better than your peers. If you’re only treading water, winning every other match, then you’re exactly where you should be. That’s how the system is supposed to work.
Sorry if it’s lower than what you expected.
People deliberately tanking Mr ruins the concept.
Mmr is designed to give you 50% win/loss ratio assuming everyone is actually trying their level best to win every match.
To string wins together one essentially has to tank Mmr to progress. Or improve significantly.
So a player who should be in ruby from the beginning May get stuck in emerald due to matchmaking and not being able to improve significantly enough to string together so many wins before they start a losing streak due to to higher Mmr.
That’s great- shame it’s only addressing a symptom rather than the cause, but it’s something. Will your system protect people who are experiencing horrible streaks, or will they become collateral?
Being horrible, or being on a horrible streak will be protected
Being purposely horrible, or being purposely on a horrible streak will not
How do you plan on distinguishing between those?
My guildie streamed some matches on twitch today – he was winning most 1v1 and holding his own in groups and 1vX as well.
But his win loss ratio is only 21% for the day. With probably 6 hours of pvp.
He also received abuse for not winning fights such as a 1 v 3.
Or dying after downing multiple enemies and his team couldn’t stomp. Being told he made his team lose.
Sounds like he could be wrongly punished here.
How does Anet intend to protect people from things such as false reports?
How are most players meant to know if someone is intentionally running a bad build to throw a match?
You could farm dungeons to make gold then.
LOL!
Take 5 with gorseval beating dps, and they are still pretty darn lucrative…
Much more so than the raid itself I’d guess.
My toughness was 1.8K.
Your toughness is vastly higher than needed.
use less clerics gear. More zealots or Magi. (Also mix in some zerk, full zerk still has enough heals for gorseval FYI)
And rev can aggro control with just cavaliers rings and facet of chaos.
VG I found works better with chrono tanking which has even less armor so you need to keep the Druid as low as possible.
Rev tank works out nicely on gorse as it lets the chrono focus fully on maxing out group dps though.
Raids are also making people wake up and realise they have to l2p, especially at actual dps under moderate pressure. People get stressed. Sounds like you did too.
You were genuinely hindering the group due to the mechanics of the raid however.
To be clear, speculation isn’t something we can control, nor will we bounce into every thread that contains a speculative comment to try address it. We did not announce, and never planned for, a drop on December 1st. If you are disappointed, I really am sorry to hear that. I’m familiar with speculation — we had a lot of it as we prepared to release Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2, Guil… well, you follow my drift.
It’s part of the nature of our sharing info about upcoming games, features, or improvements, that someone will speculate a date and that the date — even while never stated by us — may come to be seen as “obvious” or even “official.”
In this case, we wanted to share the news that good things are coming, but as in other cases, a date was not tied to that info.
I just checked with Production, and everything is on track to see the introduction of fractal changes later this month.

Gw3 confirmed!
To add to the arguments for a friday night reset:
Not everyone has 6+ hours to practice on a weeknight.
Given I’ve heard anything from 6-30 hours to beat the vale guardian..
It is quite disheartening to try for maybe 1-3 hours, knowing full well your group won’t have enough time to practice and beat just one boss, even if you yourself know how to and have successfully beaten it.
Chuck into that mix: different players each night due to schedule clashes, and the time to actually get 10 players who are even geared up to take part. Then getting a partially new squad into the right rhythm to beat a boss.
I think 40-50% of the time it took us to beat VG was organising a squad tbh.
+1
Trying to get guildy sinister stuff for raid,
Can’t because this instance is uncompletable ( can’t complete the finish in 20 mins achievement).
I can’t wait to see the tearsplotion when the weekend crowd gets on and tries the raid.
Enrage timer means dps rotations have to be executed well. Can’t just spam 1 and let the guardian carry you to victory like dungeons and even Fotm. Then go "oh what difference does a few seconds ( minutes or hours in reality across a tour) matter to you?
This is a good thing
I love how far my guildies have come after just a few hours against the vale guard.
Raids weren’t meant for the average player base.
We asked for higher end skill content and we got it.
So far I kinda want aggro on an engi/Rev to make bomb kit & dps generally lot easier to use. At least for the vale guard.
Dps == tank.
Poor neo.
I hate the timer and if they must have one I see no reason for it to be so low. The mechanics of the fight are great and tough enough that you wipe without worrying about time. If there must be one then 12mins would be a good spot imo.
Oh, I’m not talking about the Vale Guardians timer. Oh no, Gerovage? … Gorvoge? … the boss after him is hands down reaches 0 = GG.
Three of our party members can confirm running Soldiers, Rabids or Cavalier’s will most likely prevent you from beating the second boss.
For the DPS role raids you HAVE to run zerkers, vipers or sinisters. Anything else will hinder yourself and your entire team.
When you say zerker, vipers or sinisters does this mean zerker armor, weapons AND trinkets? or just armor and maybe weapon?
Yes. All three& runes & sigils. That is what is meant when one talks about being ‘zerker’.
It also typically means scholar or str runes and force sigil, with some other build complementary sigil such as air. Or berserker runes with malice/bursting sigil for Condi.
Hah! I don’t list our Fotm lfg enough. I had no idea it did that.
I doubt that. The zerker meta is never going to change.
For raids it’s looking like it will.
Technically yes. But I think people are interchanging zerker with glass cannon to include viper/sinister too ;-)
Edit: been predicting a tear tsunami since trying raids in beta. Unless it’s been nerfed to faceroll, which would be a darn shame.
hmm. I’ve been using scholar runes on my rev for the better dps. so 15 might is about the upper limit on my stacks. But I like to rotate out of dragon stance for other utils.
Also str sigil counted in that 20-23? that won’t be on allies.. so rev would benefit from extra might elsewhere.
I don’t think the overlap will be too much of a problem in raids to be honest. A little ebb/flow won’t hurt too much since there will be room for might from other sources.
Also given I expect 1 druid to be a good choice for raids – they won’t need to be under 25 might all the time anyway, due to dropping into CA.
I swear people are just posting their favourite class at this point.
On the other hand, it means anet did a fair job of balancing classes in terms of aggro control, considering every single class has been mentioned.
However with things like a PS war it may be more desirable to let the boons flow amongst everyone.
I think having a PS war in 1 party and a Herald in a 2nd party is a better way to do it. Also might from the PS war keeps overwriting might stacks on people with 25 already, no?
possibly. However a rev won’t cap at 25 on everyone solo.
Also it looks like PS might duration got nerfed from 8s base to 6s.
(which explains why i’ve noticed might wearing off very fast since patch on war).
So capping 25 might on ps takes more investment now ( str sigil).
It also allows berserker ( warrior) to take prec food over dumplings since they should hit 95% might with str runes + facet. (dropping arms means the need for extra prec, but the % mods are totally worth it).
also partying subsquadding up hinders EA application ( 9s duration, 3s interval) so you’d want the war not restricted to buffing 5 people.
during beta we had the ability to assign subsquads.
I believe that influenced boon sharing.
However with things like a PS war it may be more desirable to let the boons flow amongst everyone.
follow the meta event chains and stop worrying about the xp.
Also loading up on boosters helps a ton.
watch the LFG for organized maps. Follow or pop a tag.
Raids are not 5 person content.
fractals are.
so..
5 person 10 person content?
Sounds borked.
Adding them as stand alone raid instances?
Yes.
Can I throw in some controversial suggestions in for you to think about? Here goes;
Tempest:
Lowest HP lowest armor, so what? 100% protection uptime makes 40% damage reduction. 50 when in earth melee range, 60 with a frost aura on. Add in lots of thoughness and laugh danger in the face. Doubles up as group support with aura-boonsharingDaredevil:
Its hard to take damage while constantly evading, dd would need a little reset time every now and then tho…
Not controversial. Classic tank mindset: sac most dps capability to tank.
It’s just not how gw2 combat was designed, and completely uneccesary to do that
A lot of dungeon and fractal bosses aggro onto higher toughness. This happening in raids is not new to the game.
Edit: herald trait for toughness per upkeep makes it a very good choice for tank without losing any dps. The other traits in he first herald slot are pretty mediocre. (And this has allowed me to keep a lot of pressure off team mates in Fotm lately & keep bosses where I want them).
(edited by Artemis Thuras.8795)
If you try to zone into a raid instance while an encounter is in progress, you will zone in defeated and therefore won’t get any credit for loot.
What about if someone dies during the encounter, but the squad still beats it?
The three “bosses” before the vale guard aren’t going to be counted as bosses for loot lol..
They are trash mobs
mail suppression kicks in after 2 mails sent within a minute or two.
It’s quite annoying because the suppression counts any emails that failed to send due to suppression too. The result can be pretty annoying.
But its less annoying than gold sellers flooding my inbox.
Have you set your underwater legends? Skill sets for non-revenant are different for out of water and under water, so you may not even have a legend selected.
For revenants underwater legends are the same as on land, if you change them under water you have to change them back on land. Its a ludicrous situation, the class is clearly unfinished. Not to mention the idiocy of glint not having underwater skills despite being mainly just passive buffs.
IT gets better.
Have you tried activating glints utils before going underwater yet?
timezone and region/server would help a lot..
sell those frac encryption boxes…
They are account bound now.
what?
when did this happen?
edit: are you referring to the achieve chess, not the encryption boxes?
it’s been like that for as long as I can remember.
I still can’t fathom why necro didnt get a +150 condi dmg trait similar to EA/spotter/assassins presence.
Would kitten near guarantee a necro a (singular) place.
This would need to be on to of the feeble lifesteal/no health loss on downed thing they do though.
My co-lead got the core masteries all done ( well, half way to final legendary mastery) just by 99% mapping his rev.
Just to add another spice to the cooking pot.
The Living Story was an ever evolving content they immortalized portions in fractals, there was no need to make it permanent.
Tower of Nightmares and Marionette boss fractals would be great fractals only if they were added in the first place.
I reckon they’d be better ported to the raid style instances with 10 man squads tbh.
Scale down marionette platforms to be duo fights with an enrage timer.
Could stick a bunch of random and hugely OP allies in 4/5 lanes (could make it cycle or something so the squad can try each lane).
And ToK was pretty much designed for a squad of players.
Behind the scenes it might need some work, say to track x/y bosses or events completed.
I know I’d love having both of those back as stand alone raids in the core game maps.
