The problem with " it encourages you to buy bag slots" is:
The key is on a different char, and I can’t be bothered to keep moving them around via the bank. It’s just annoying. Doesn’t really encourage me to have more bag slots.
Just encourages me to open world on a single character.

It would be such a huge QoL improvement to have them in the wallet ( or keyring: aka wallet #2).

I’m pretty sure it will happen if enough people ask for it though.

Don’t do it!

You’ll need zerker/assassin/sinister/viper for raids most likely.
Two words: Enrage. Timer.

IF you really need a “middle of the road” set for open world, stick with exotics. You don’t even need asc here anyways. So the insane cost is pointless.

As for your “balance of playstyle” thing.. Gear has sod all to do with that. That is 99% influenced by trait/util/weapon choices.

I don’t get what you are complaining about.
Each fractal lvl takes much shorter now, since it is only one and not 3/4.
Meaning that you can farm out fractals much faster with an efficient group.
Also opening the chests is worth it! Ofcause it is not worth it to buy others loot and open it! That has to be a gamble, but if he had farmede the 1000 Fractal Encryptions and spend 120G on opening them he would have made: 262-120=142g.

Or am I missing some point here?

The time to farm out 1000 boxes/keys, could yield more gold in the nerfed reward state dungeons.

I think that is the point you are missing.

So much for “decentived” dungeons in favour of fotm & better fotm rewards. ( which are now worse than before hot)

The worst about this is that some classes simply don’t have strong PvE condition based specs. When it comes to power specs, at least every class has a viable spec when it comes to DPS.

No, no.
They don’t have that much more HP (though they probably have more than before starting at a certain point), they have that much more toughness. That’s a difference.
Sinister burns through them much faster than Berserker does, which is bullkitten. Except for the Underground Facility boss because conditions haven’t been fixed on it, so you’re kittened for that one anyway.

The reduced damage in correlation to the high toughness is just… dumb. Can’t put it differently. If I run scales around 80 and I manage to make Archdiviner hit for a measly 4k with his Leap, then I don’t know anymore.

FotM changes feedback

So I’ve not had the chance to try above level 60 yet but..

I’m already finding the fights are incredibly boring.

They just drag out, and don’t feel particularly dangerous.
I’m sure at higher levels bosses stop hitting like wet noodles.

But they feel much more passive now, favouring passive defence over active skill use such as spamming protection over well timed aegis.

Also resulting in a long time spent just AAing due to everything having been used ( eg MS, glyph, whirling wrath).

Couple what seems like long boring (frankly tedious) fights, with what seems like less loot ( it may not be, but getting the best out of the loot is now a lot more complicated).

All in all I’m pretty disappointed with FotM.
I’ll probably get to 100, but unless the “fun factor” improves I’m pretty unlikely to carry on doing them.

Everyone who practices long enough reaches this point.

Eventually you start to notice all the stupid things some players do in group content, like spamming AA and nothing else. or kitting a boss out of an AoE because “ima tank!”.

Then you get the " I did nothin wrong QQ kitten" type pm’s when you boot em out in favour of a player (or many times an empty slot) more productive.

“elitists” in gw2 aren’t unfriendly quite often, some people just act as a catalyst for aggression and frustrations.

I haven’t been to a HP since patch due to only having 15 mins free before work.

Did all the champs get nerfed of just scaled? (scaling would be better imo, so they can be done without waiting for others. I had to wait around to often already cause no one was nearby).

But big +1 for the reduced cost. I actually feel like going an getting the elite specs on any of my characters now ( even more so if I don’t have to rely on others being around to get the new hot hp’s).

edit: Also they weren’t exactly challenging before, just needed someone to kite aggro while 1+ drops dps. tedium <> challenge (bit like the revamped fotm, but that’s a post for another thread).

You are making a grave mistake.

You are setting equal direct gold loot with gold gained through selling of materials/items.

Those 2 are not the same. If you get materials or items as rewards, you need to exchange them on the trading post and no new gold has entered the economy.

Direct gold loot (as is from dungeons at the moment) does influence the total goldsupply and leads to inflation.

None of the things you mentioned give any where near the same amount of direct gold loot. Just because your gold gain might be the same or higher than dungeons, does not mean it’s the same. Someone else has to give up their gold to you (plus a 15% trading post tax).

If you want to talk rewards for dungeons, then suggest something besides direct gold loot, since arenanet is likely to want to recude that. Maybe have dungeons give a couple of rares per daily or such.

I feel anet has forgotten WHY dungeons got their gold reward hiked up.

World bosses I typically get 2-3 rares every 15 minutes..
I can also go gathering materials during pres.

teq for example i can go mine 50-100 platinum, and 50+ hard wood logs while waiting.
I just finished Karka queen, got 4 rares, 4 champ bags, 6 karka shells.

All this requires is me to run around, and press f & 1.
If we assume the dungeon rewards are being nerfed to 26 silver + 60 tokens once/day (seems like a fair assumption from what i’ve read).

60 tokens = TWO rares, for 5-30 mins work ( with a metazerk team).
As much as 15-60 mins with an average team.

Now lets also remember anet NERFED the drop rate of ectos from those dungeon token rares, to HALF the regular rares a couple of years ago.

some stats that afaik still hold true:

Dungeon token rare: 0.45 ecto/rare
All other rares: 0.9 ecto/rare.

So dungeon rares are worth 1/2 a rare. So 1 path is 1 rare.

This was because ecto prices plummeted after the rares were added to world bosses and due to converting of tokens -> rares -> ectos.

For often more time, always more effort, I get less loot.

to compare:
15-20 (up to 30 for teq) mins of world boss:
lots of gathered materials (anything up to a stack)
2-3 rares (as many as 10 for teq, and 5 for karka).
Karma from events.

Dungeons:
5-30 ( meta zerk) or 15-60 (typical pug run)
1 (Effective) rare.
26 silver.

TL;DR
I feel world boss rewards significantly are too high.
Too many rares and too many ectos.
They aren’t/won’t be scarce, despite being called “rare”.

Dungeons don’t sell for $50.

They do for me, I buyed this game mostly for the dungeons.

At least Raids are like dungeons… with 10 people… and harder… Right?

And also time gated to once per WEEK.

It’s hard enough finding groups for dungeons during my evening since it’s so close to reset.
I expect I will have to do all nighters if I want to raid.

I love how Anet thinks zerging events/mobs in the precious seconds they’ll be up is going to be as fun or feel as rewarding as forming a good dungeon team.

Or how spending 30 mins max doing fotm for inevitablely badly balanced rewards can come close.

A whole bunch of it is already in the game client, judging by how much has been data mined + beta weekends.

I suspect if we get any further patches before HoT they will contain some of the data the client needs.

Only got 189 hero challenges right now.
So either anet would have to add hero challenges (only seen mastery points in beta) in new maps, or we have to forgo having some of the skills/traits to get the skins ( which sounds pretty sadistic to me, since that char would be better deleted and remade after getting the skins).

If anet intends us to level each and every class to 80, then delete it and start over just to get the skins & have a char that is mechanically viable, I’m pretty sure there will be outrage.

rng on which item you receive seems fine to me..

However it really does need to be every event, not every second event.

It make it seem disappointing, and almost chore-like to go find another event on a map that has been swarmed by players.

JP’s were included in the new loot? Those should definitely not require two completed for loot either if so.
& I might actually go do JP’s more often in the future too.

Were mini dungeons included in the new loot? Those could use some love too.

Thank you for the heads up Gaile. May I suggtest that while the team is fixing Symbolic Avenger to consider boosting Shattered Aegis damage so it becomes a viable option too? Giving Sword a % dmg or a speed buff modifier when traited would be appreciated too because the current Right Hand Strength (20% reduced recharge on Sword skills) is not useful compared to the old trait.

1h sword attack speed buff? that’d be a cool option..

Base Crit Chance bug

I believe they must have normalized it.

Precision – 841.xxx – 74 (which is the difference from 1000 to 926) / 21.xxx
It makes 4%.
Tested with 1090 precision, and It shows 8.28% in my panel, and it works with the formula, so I believe they did that.

I think they wanted it to stay at 4% for the base precision.

So we “gained” base prec, only to have it be completely useless anyway?

I sincerely hope not, as that would very much suck.

It looks like we are running at base 4.0%
Which still seems wrong since we “gained” 74 base precision, which is doing essentially nothing.

I’m guessing its a bug, as it seems to be functioning as “powerful blades”.
Tooltips shouldn’t alter without retal, if at all. However sword/spear damage is changing without any prerec condition.

This trait is described as a 10% damage boost while under retal.

It is applying a damage mod to sword/spear, much like powerful blades did.

r u saying it is only applying it to sword/spear, and no other weapons?

I’m saying those two weapons are getting increased damage in tooltip when it is equipped.

I am not opening them and not adding them to my other toons inventory because their inventories also nearly full. I’m not really into the skins, I want the armors and weapons stats for my toons later when they’re level 80. (They will be geared from all the stuffs I have in bank )

  • For example for my low level ranger: I need the 6 pieces of the glorious armor, and like 6 weapons boxes of arah (for longbow, shortbow, greatsword, warhorn, sword and axe) total is 12. 12 slots is too much if it’s possible for them to take only 2 slots.

And since I’m not sure how many boxes I would need later for my toons, I’m not opening them to throw them in Mytic forge.

So keep those 12 on that char, ready to open when it hits 80?
You could even open them ready, so you know why they are there.

& you just freed up nearly half a tab of bank space.
