It wouldn’t hurt if they thinned out the red mobs in the mid level maps also. Trying to do events while at the same time fending off rapidly respawning wolves, hyenas, Minotaurs, etc… isn’t challenging so much as annoying. The mid level Charr areas like Fireheart Rise are especially bad.
And just trying to get through these maps to find events while wading through all the red mobs is tedious.
The peacemaker weapons have a pink mist coming off them. The pink on the focus and the greatsword might look good as a countercolor. When you run, the greatsword’s mist leaves a trail.

Bumped to bring back to page one.
I’ve used this site for cheapest crafting. To get to level 450 in artificer, it does have you discover several potions. http://www.gw2crafts.net/artificing_400.html One of its flaws is that it doesn’t seem to consider Ascended refinement. But it’s still useful to give you ideas as to what is the best items to discover.

I guess you’ll have to contact support. They probably won’t tell you the correct serial code if you have it wrong but they should be able to help you register the game.
If your brother is the one who is going to be the account holder he should be the one to contact support.
That’s been my experience as well. I started a personal bank guild about 6 months ago originally to store intermediate cooking ingredients, but I now use it for all kinds of stuff and keep most of my gold in there. I haven’t had any issues so far.
As long as you don’t change your privileges or rank or leave the guild you should be fine.
Why would you store gold in the bank? It doesn’t take up bag space and with the addition of the wallet system, you can access it with any character anytime.
Some people have said they like to put their money in the guild bank to make sure they don’t accidentally buy too much from the trading post because of lag. Others like to have each character maintain it’s own amount of money for roleplay reasons. They keep tabs of which has how much and withdraw that amount each time or use an starting empty bank balance each day to make it easier to tell.
The problem is that truly random occurrences don’t look random to people. People often expect random events to be spread out evenly but in actuality the events tend to cluster. Below is a picture of random dots. Imagine if the dots showed people getting a precursor and the white areas are where people are trying and failing to get one. Some people would appear lucky and others unlucky when it’s simply randomness making its appearance.
Mini suspicious bush FTW!
It can have an ‘unsuspicious rabbit’ come out, run around it and go back in
Is the rabbit in Maelstrom on a bridge? I’ve seen one there.
I killed it of course. It looked suspicious.

What I saw here was, you came to the forum asking for help. When help and suggestions as to what was wrong were made, instead of addressing it on that level you immediately became argumentative and started quibbling about technicalities and the ‘correct’ computer terms to use.
I’m not a ‘computer security expert’. Most people who post here to help others are not ‘computer security experts’. In your field you should be used to laypeople using inexact terminology and this forum isn’t the time or place to be hashing it out. What pathway was used to ‘hack’ your computer was irrelevant to the discussion and you made it the point of the discussion instead of accepting a layperson’s term, which is what you should have done.

Ok it’s your personal opinion that saying your account is hacked is ‘disgusting’ but you haven’t given me a word that is widely accepted, immediately understood and accessible to multiple levels of understanding that is not ‘disgusting’ to you.
I still await enlightenment.

Disgusting? Lol okaaaayy.
Then being a computer security expert and I’m also sure knowledgable on how to convey information to people who may have only the very basic concepts of computer terminology, how about you tell us the word that covers the concept “your computer was accessed by a malicious outside person” that is pithy, clear and immediately understandable to everyone at all levels of understanding. Also remembering that not everyone who posts here is a native English speaker and this also will limit what they are understanding you to say.
And saying that you shouldn’t have been told your account was hacked is not what I’m asking for because I and most of the others here are not computer security experts and we don’t know this word we could use instead of ‘hack’. So please, enlighten us.

Thing is, I literally started getting these emails the day I made my GW2 account. I never used the same email on any 3rd party sites so it can’t have been cross referenced in that way.
In my experience (and I have plenty) you guys have a data leak (either internal or external) or your accounts database is compromised in some way. That is how the scammers are finding out the email addresses linked to peoples accounts.
I’ve gotten one accusing me of selling my WoW account, and I’ve never once played that game. They just send out emails at random. Maybe they have a computer randomly generating emails and sending them out as well as getting them from various sites.
On the other hand, I’ve had a Guild Wars 1 account for 5 years and a Guild Wars 2 account since beta and never once gotten one of the ‘GW phishing emails’. If gw has a data leak, I and many other people would have gotten one.

Doing away with the trading post. Man, that brings back bad old memories of standing in Spamadon shouting out stuff like, WTS 1 totem axe 5k, over and over and over again. While there was so much trade chat your WTS message scrolled off the screen within a minute or less. How in the world was this preferable to posting in the trading post and coming back later to pick up the money?
I bought one character slot when it was on sale for this possibility. But hopefully they will release another profession at the same time for those of us who already have all 8 professions.
Go to the PvP locker in the Mists and you can mix and match to your heart’s content.
They have mentioned that they are looking at it. No timeline or anything like that.

If you plan to get a legendary or do ascended crafting you will need it then. And it doesn’t come in as fast as it used to.
Someone getting gems has nothing to do with any of us. There is no reason that we should care. ArenaNet could give a random person 10k gems and it doesn’t affect me one iota. It doesn’t affect any of you either.
Unless they convert their free gems into gold and cause all prices to rise by inserting inflation into the economy. Good job!
It doesn’t cause inflation. When gems are sold to get money, the money comes from the other players, not from thin air. If you sell 400 gems to get gold and I buy those 400 gems with my ingame money then the money is only transferring from my account to yours and that’s not how inflation occurs.
Wiki sort of says, but in a round about way. If you check a particular item you want to make it will say either discovery or recipe. If it’s a recipe you have to buy it from someone. Either an NPC or the trading post.
For example:
Onion Ring
Source Discovery Type Snack Output qty. 1 Discipline Chef
Recipe: Celestial Exalted Masque
Item type Consumable Rarity Exotic Req. level (400)

In this case, you buy the recipe and then “consume” it by double clicking on it.
The wiki is put together by regular players, not by ANet. It’s only as good as the people who make it.
well, im trying to craft my celestial gear for my ele, and the celestial insignia isn’t showing up in the discovery tab…….. seriously anet? over a year and no fix? how about a courteous reply so we know that its being worked on, or maybe just tell us to bad so we can stop playing… ive been working for a month to get my cele insignias and when i try to craft them i get boned… thanks Anet… you sure know who to ruin someone gaming experience.
You don’t discover Celestial insignias. They were a drop during the Zephyr living story and now you buy them from the Trading Post. http://www.gw2spidy.com/search/Celestial%20?recipes=
If you had checked wiki you would see them described as recipes and below that it tells the initial source. For example: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Recipe:_Celestial_Intricate_Gossamer_Insignia
wow, that is all i can say. i know you dont discover the insignias. you discover the gear with (using a chest piece as example) Gossamer Insignia + gossamer coat lining + gossamer coat panel. my problem is where the INSIGNIA is not showing up in the discover tab. coat panel and lining shows up, but when i need to put the INSIGNIA into the discovery tab with the other components, its not there.
You don’t discover the items, you buy the recipe. For example, I got as drops Celestial Exalted Masque and Celestial Exalted Coat.
For the Masque I need to make a Celestial insignia, a helm padding and a helm strap. However I don’t discover the Masque because I got the recipe for the Masque already as a drop. In your case if you wanted to make the Masque you will have to buy the recipe from the trading post and then use the regular crafting, not discover crafting.

I don’t think that has ever been completely explained. I did find this, but it’s about your own highly rated posts and doesn’t go into details.
Mark Katzbach
Community Special Operations
Highly rated posts is a bit of a misnomer (though don’t feel bad!). The page shows all of your posts that have been +1’d by anybody else in descending order from highest number of +1s. So, at least one person agreed with what you had to say for each of the posts on that page.
You can also make that page and the one of posts you have +1’d public through a setting in Edit Profile, if you desire.
And this: The original post can be found here.
“…there are two levels of popularity, categorized “popular” and “very popular”.Currently these are indicated by a thumbs-up icon that appears next to the +1 button. If a post is very popular, the thumbs-up earns a star that appears within said icon.
Our future plans include updating these indicators to something more visually striking. Until then, this is how you will know if a post has achieved popular status.
There are also two levels in which posts are gauged for popularity, on a per-thread basis and forum-wide. Forum-wide popularity takes into account +1s from within a set time period across the forum. Per-thread popularity takes into account all +1s in a thread. Visually, a forum-wide popular post will have a red underline beneath the thumbs-up icon".

I personally pay for gems, I’ve never converted gold to gems. I have done gems to gold though ;P Although I wish I had cashed in on the “pre-launch” gem prices, 100 gems for 33 silver, I thought that was expensive, wow am I dumb. I could have been rich!
Buy the gems at today’s prices then wait a year. With people getting richer over time, the gem prices can only go up.

Permanent gathering tools refundable in gems?
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Astral Projections.7320
They have a method to exchange the soulbound ones for account bound. You talk to the Black Lion weapons vender.
http://nerdybookahs.wordpress.com/2013/11/12/gw2-permanent-gathering-tools-are-now-account-bound/
Unequip them, then go to the Black Lion Weapons Specialist above the Trading Post in Lion’s Arch. It is important that you unequip the gathering tools first! Then the NPC will offer you the chance to trade the soulbound versions against account-bound ones.

I bought extra slots so I could have one of each profession, a mule for storage, an extra when it was on sale in case they ever have new professions or races, one for the occasional key running, and then one because I decided to reroll a profession but didn’t want to delete my max level toon. ^^
The ones I’m not currently playing are parked in Frostgorge for a daily ori/ancient wood run. They earn their keep that way.
My guess is no. You deleted them knowing at the time that you were losing the use of them and the loss of the money you used to buy them. Their answer in the past to someone who deleted characters with items on them is that typing the name in the delete box is the warning that you will lose everything. You can wait and see if Gaile will answer your question. She doesn’t comment on all threads but she might, to say one way or another.
Out of curiosity, why didn’t you just buy more character slots instead of deleting high level toons? They sell those in the gem store. Since you have the option to buy more character slots, you could have done that instead of deleting toons with gem store items.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
And here’s your answer.
Magische Boek.2530:
“i have 9 characters, 8 of those are equiped with a full set of unlimited gathering tools, one of those characters has the 2 new tools and is still waiting for the unlimited axe to come out. now with this new update to make them acount bound i’d like to sell 23 of my 26 unlimited harvesting tools. PLEASE give me my gems back… you dont know how mad i am right now! i could have had a frkn legendary -.-
thanks…”

you have a source?
AnthonyOrdon

I’ll be the source. The invasions are sticking around until the Scarlet storyline is complete. Telling you exactly when it will end would probably spoil a lot of stuff. You can at least count on them regularly occurring through the end of this year.
I would suspect a bug. I can’t think of any way someone can set a character to zero map completion. They could delete a character to get zero map completion that way but then of course it would no longer show on character selection.
I’d be concerned about logging on another character also. If they can fix it it probably won’t matter in the long run but I’d be concerned about making the matter worse.
I’ve seen a few bug reports where someone can no longer log into certain characters. I didn’t see that other people reported zero map completion but otherwise this sounds like that one.

I tried to get a group up while in Gendarren fields to do one of the requirements for the meta, which was doing a toxic event in 5 different maps. I called out in map chat a couple of times and pinged a nearby waypoint. (crickets)

Gaile Gray confirms “GW2” accounts are not “deleted” for inactivity, that’s a good thing, but my question is about GW1, and blocking.
About posting in forums, support people browse this forums and answers questions many times, and also maybe other players could share similar issues. That’s the purpose of this section of the forums, I think.
You can always post questions and hope for answers but some questions are only answerable by support. Why your account was banned is only something that support can answer. Absolutely no one else can tell you. However, these are the things I think are relevant.
1) they don’t ban for inactivity. They ban for reasons such as gold selling/buying, botting, or repeated abusive language.
2) your account was banned. Since it wasn’t banned for inactivity then it was banned for a reason such as above.
3) either it was you that caused a ban or your account was hacked.
4) if it wasn’t you then you were hacked and you should see to the security of your computer.

It depends. If they put it in their bank instead of sending it directly back, both of you can get banned. You for gold selling and them for gold buying. You might both get reinstated if you both contact support and explain, but not necessarily.
If they send it directly back without putting it in their bank first then it’s probably no problem. It appears ANet checks for sudden increases in bank balance unconnected to trading activity when looking for gold selling.

As for who is hacking Guild Wars 1 accounts, the game is still active. I have logged on several times in the last few months and seen people still playing. Maybe not lots of people but the game isn’t dead. Since hacked accounts cost little, it doesn’t take much to make a profit from them.

If your son starts spending too much time on the game then like anything else he might be doing too much of, you restrict access. Just like you would do if he was watching too much tv or anything else. It wouldn’t hurt to let him play. You can turn off map and say chat if needed and he could play alongside you.

It’s not visible to anyone but you, but if your friend emailed it to you on the email you are using for your account in Guild Wars 2 and if he remembers it then it’s ‘visible’ to him. If you are using a different email or he doesn’t remember then you are the only one that knows.
That’s one thing I miss from Guild Wars 1. You built your skills around your elite and it was a valued part of your skillbar. Now it’s choose 4 skills and whatever elite you think you might actually use sometimes, if you remember it’s there if the situation ever calls for it.
And when you do ever use them, they are generally pretty meh and you can’t really tell if they did anything of importance.

Depends on the price you put on it. If you put it at a peak price it may take a long time to sell. If you check spidy it does show it selling some. Maybe not a huge amount but steady. http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/46695
Mel, I understand your concern, and I assure you I would not report a bot if I wasn’t 100% positive that they were, in fact, a bot. I understand how annoying it is to be accused of doing something wrong when you are clearly not doing it. There is a big difference, however, between running around and killing everything to blow off steam, and running around the exact same path repeatedly for 8+ hours every day for four days in a row. When i say exact same path, I mean it. They were there every single time I ran my Soft Wood path in Diessa Plateu, running that same exact path. They did the EXACT same movement over and over again, with pauses to change direction and a jump several seconds after they start moving forward every single time. I’ve also seen them get stuck in a tree for about a minute, and repeatedly try the exact same method of slightly turning to the right, running foward, jumping, running forward some more and then stopping, just to try again. No human being would be perfect enough to run the exact same motion repeatedly that many times, and yet careless enough to get stuck behind a tree for a minute.
Apologies. I didn’t mean for it to sound like I was attacking you. From what you described it does indeed seem like you ran into a bot. I was just throwing my personal experience out there as a cautionary tale so that others would make a careful and informed decision when reporting, instead of jumping to conclusions.
Funny story. After reading this thread I was working on the Hyle slayer and greatsword master achievement yesterday, and I was running in a circle in Cuatl Morass over and over for quite a while. I was thinking, “I hope someone doesn’t report me 0.o” :P
Even is someone (or multiple someones) does report a person for being a bot, that doesn’t lead to a ban. It only causes ANet to check the account and look for bot activity. What they look for then is computer evidence of macros. Staying in an area for hours/days/weeks doing the same set of actions, and never going off to do anything else such as run dungeons or do WvW or do events is also probably looked at but I suspect they look for macros primarily.
The main reason to make sure that you are reporting a bot and not a person is so they won’t be wasting their time not because reporting a person wrongly will lead to a ban.
