Is it possible to get other order armors?

Be warned that its kind of costly, two Transmutation crystals per part, as the order armors that are sold are level 80, and so will be your target armor.

Can you not transmute items from an open bank tab?

I could pretty easily get arond spending gems on another transmutation stone by just buying a cheap exotic armor with the stats I want that isn’t soulbound.

Clearly ANet needs to make this a little more user friendly though.

You have to break the soulbinding first, which means a transmutation to a low level white item first, keeping the skin and losing the stats. This step is the one that changes it from soulbound to account bound. Then a second transmutation of the skin to the amor with stats you wish to keep. So it requires 2 fine T stones.

As for areas being harder because of contested temples, I recommend you guest to other servers. Use this site: http://www.gw2state.com/temples.html, find a server with the temple uncontested there and grab the area. It’s what I do.

You have to run another character through the story line again at least to that point. You can’t do it any other way.

You can always create the same race and profession and redo the story line. Doesn’t have to be a different race/profession.

After you get it, use transmutation ‘trick’ to break the soulbinding—→account bound. Put it in the bank and have your original pick it up and transmute again.

How to send Gold without getting banned

I would not go the ‘deposit in Guild Bank’ route, as that is how I got ‘permanently banned for gold-selling’. Or, if you do deposit it, don’t deposit it all at once, but varying amounts over a period of time.

But, it is, of course, your choice.

And as I also posted, how I got ‘permanently banned for gold-selling/buying’.

I suggest, small amounts over a period of time with an explaining email each time whether it’s through the guild bank or sending it by email.

I don’t think you can send him 100 gold at one go without getting investigated at least. You can do one of several things to minimize problems. One is send him money over time, such as 25 gold a day for four days. The second is to make sure the money you send him has an explaining note each time, such as ’I’m sending this money to you to repay the money you loaned me’. If you remember the date he loaned you money, add that. He needs to send back an acknowledging note saying something equivalent so he won’t look like a gold buyer

You might get told you can repay through the guild bank, you putting it there and him picking it up. It can still end with you or him getting investigated and banned. (I should know, I got a ‘permanent ban’ for gold selling/buying doing this that required contacting support to reverse). If you use the guild method you will still need to send messages documenting why you are transferring money to protect both you and him.

Imo the smaller amounts per day is less likely to get your account noticed as gold selling/buying. There is probably some cutoff amount that triggers an investigation.

I think they used to not do anything, but so many people have made this mistake that within the last couple of months they started sending a replacement.

The other thread on the same page, the guy got a replacement within 2 hours of his first post.

so instead of changing description of items they rather do it one by one for hundreds of players? I think they doing it right, I guess the extra 300 employs at ANet need to justify their salary there :P

Yah. Makes no sense to me that they would rather have people
1) make this mistake
2) complain or ask in the forum
3) get told there to contact support
4) contact support and take up their time and resources
5) support sends them a new replacement item

As opposed to
1) change the NPC warning to say for any ascended purchases, “Are you sure you want to buy this? You can only equip one unique item with specific stats on a character at a time.”
2) there is no 2

Is it REALLY that difficult to change the messages on a handful of NPCs to take care of a known problem in the game. For those who say, unique means you can equip only one and you should have known this, I say unique in Guild Wars 1 did not mean that. You could equip up to 4 identical unique weapons on your characters at a time if you wanted.

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Astral Projections.7320

Astral Projections.7320

You cannot equip two IDENTICAL ascended items.
That means you cannot have two Red Rings of Death equipped at the same time – you will have to equip ONE red ring of death and pick a different ascended ring to put in the other slot.

Your only alternative would be to throw one of the rings in the mystic forge and turn it into a ‘Red ring of death (infused)’, then you could equip both the infused and non-infused one. But you cannot have both of them infused and you cannot have both of them uninfused.
Since they are account bound I would suggest giving one of them to a different character and selecting a different ascended rings to equip.

Actually, in this situation support has been known to send the person an equivalent ring that they can use. So it’s not necessary to infuse it or give it to an alt, if he even can at this point as I assume he attempted to wear both and they are now both soulbound.

ANet isn’t going to ban people just based on reports. Reports will cause them to look at an account, but what they suspend or ban for is when they can see someone doing something that breaks TOS. So, if you haven’t done anything, there is nothing to worry about. They will check their computer. They can see every chat, email, and movement of gold and items from one account to another and that’s what they base suspensions and bans on, not somebody’s report, which may be mistaken or malicious.

And yes, report the map chat messages for harassment. People can get a suspension for making false reports and harassment of others.

Blocking people

Astral Projections.7320

So there’s this guy who added me to friend’s. Problem is he’s no friend of mine, and I don’t want him to be able to see what character I’m logged into, where I am, etc.

I did some experimenting with the help of my guildmates and this is how the system is working right now:

1) Blocking the person only stops him or her from whispering you. He can still see if you are online, which character you are logged into, where you are, etc.
2) Appearing invisible stops the person from seeing all these things, but it also cuts off all guild chat. You are also unable to talk to your guild. You can send whispers, but not receive whispers.

I suggest the system be changed to the GW1 system, where adding someone to ignore blocks him and only him from seeing that you are online, in addition to blocking his whispers.

Except, if he has game messages enabled in chat, the game will tell him in chat when you log on and when you log off. It will say in chat, Jeydra.4386 is online and then later, Jeydra.4386 is offline. By looking at his friends list he can see what map you’re in. This updates to show your location even if you are set to invisible.

Cheers. ^^

2700gold , You're kidding bro?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Astral Projections.7320

Yea 2500g is ok but 2700g is not ok . Why keep rising it ? It’s ridiculous , its going to be 4000g in a month then .

It keeps getting “raised” due to supply and demand, as has been pointed out. Basic economics. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it, that simple.

Part of the problem is where ANet allows players to buy in game gold with real money. Granted, this is not the only way new money is injected in to the game. In game vendors pay out from a seemingly unlimited pool of money, that I like to think is funded by salvage kits and harvesting tools. While inflation will occur naturally over time as an economy matures, allowing unlimited money to be injected in to the economy is damaging and causes runaway inflation. Without the gem to gold conversion, the price of high end items would not be as high as they are at least not nearly so quickly.

Just a comment on gems causing unlimited money to be injected into the system.

Buying gems doesn’t generate gold. When a person buys gems that money goes into ANet’s pockets. ANet gives the buyer gems in exchange. The gems then are sold to players in exchange for their gold. No new gold is generated. The gold from selling gems is transferred from one players bank to another’s. There is no money injected into the system, much less unlimited money.

What would make you do a Chain’s PreEvents?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Astral Projections.7320

Astral Projections.7320

For the Shadow a Behemoth at least, I don’t think at lot of people know that ‘the monastery needs assistance’ is part of the timer.

I’ve said in chat, the pre event for SB is up. And people are going ‘no it’s not’ or ???. I tell them about the monastery event, while running over there, and they seem surprised. It doesn’t show on the big map like the portals and it’s not obvious that it’s part of SB (or even a logical part of the event chain).

As for the portals event, 2 get done fast. It’s the last one that has a longish run, to the event and then to SB that often sits. I think it’s the run that’s stopping people as well as being an event that one person can do. So the people sit and wait for that one person to d it. Laziness combined with having experience of getting partway there and it gets done so they have to run back.

Before they buffed the SB, I’ve done the final portal event and barely been able to get back and hit the boss a couple of times before it died. The chance of not getting the loot because you did the work was a deterrent.

These Gold Sinks...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Astral Projections.7320

Astral Projections.7320

Ok, let me get this straight. You say that when I spend 2000 gems in the exchange, I added nearly 2000 gems to the exchange. That sounds like gems get added to the exchange all the time. Next: we have an increasing population, veterans equipping entire alt accounts, and bots: all buying gems with time. Time is gold. To spend gold, is to spend the time it took to earn it. Ingame time = value of gold to players. Amassing enough gold to buy a reasonable amount of gems takes far longer than spending $25 at Wal*mart to buy 2000 gems. You must factor time spent into the equation. My whole point of view is that gold derives most of its value from time spent in obtaining it. Even bots have to spend time. The exchange only partially sets the cost of gems. The other part is how fast time spenders buy gems vs. how fast gem spenders by gold. and I have utterly lost track… of what I was trying to say…

I’m not dead sure what you are trying to say towards the end ^^ so let me address just the very first part.

Yes, gems are being put into the pool of gems all the time by people who wish to sell these gems for gold. Gems are also being taken out all the time by people buying with gold. This gold is a transfer from one player to another. No gold is created by this method. If more gems get put into the pool than people want to buy, then the gems would get cheaper. The gold to gem price would drop. Since the gold to gem price is rising, this means fewer people are selling gems for gold than people are buying gems with gold. The pool of gems is getting smaller, not bigger.

So what I’m trying to say here, the number of people who are buying gems with the intent of selling to other players is actually not very high. More people are buying gems with in game gold than the reverse. So there isn’t a large population of veterans buying gold for alts.

Since gold is not created by selling gems, all the gold that players have, originally came from killing enemies and as rewards from the game for doing events, dungeons, etc. Selling gems may spread it around a little, but only after players have farmed it in some manner.

These Gold Sinks...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Astral Projections.7320

Astral Projections.7320

Goldsinks are important. It’s very easy to make money in this game. If there’s no sink, there will be too much money. Then most of that money will accumulate among high leveled, veteran players. Incoming players, or casual players, will have a very difficult time matching up to the inflated prices – which the veteran players will directly, or indirectly be setting. It would not be a free market, because the veteran players will be the ones controlling it.

Then comes in a new player who just hit 80. A set of exotics will cost them 250 gold. How is he gonna get that? No one wants him in dungeons because he doesn’t have the good gear for speed runs. He can’t make his own gear because mats will be expensive (less gear salvaged = less crafting materials. Supply < demand) Only those that can afford the mats for crafting are either a) people who can bot and farm nodes or b) have the money to buy what they want when they need it. ===> another increase on prices. He’ll be stuck at the bottom.

Generally once people have bought exactly what they want, they don’t shop around for another of the same thing. If you have your ultimate look or highest tier gear, you won’t be shopping for it. You will no longer be adding to the demand of all equips you are wearing. Once all the veteran players have equipped their alts with the best gear, they won’t be buying anymore for themselves. They will add zero demand to the market. Do you understand? veteran players remove themselves from the market when they are satisfied. Why make earn gold if there is literally nothing you want? Hell, many high level players, in other games, give stuff away to friends or guild mates simply because the in game market has nothing that can interest them.

The reason Trading Post prices are high, is because you can convert gold into gems. This is why people amass insane amounts of gold. This is why people charge so much. Trying to buy gem equipment with time spent farming.
If you weren’t allowed to convert gold, the inflation in this game would dissolve in a matter of months. The botting would also fall off dramatically. Of course we would all spend much less time playing the game. The ability to turn gold into gems is the largest time, and gold, sink in the game. Don’t blame farmers, or botters, taxes, or rng; the gold to gem conversion is the single most significant drain on the game economy.

You do realize don’t you that when people are converting gold into gems, they first buy the gems from ANet. The money goes into ANet’s pockets and then gold is transferred from the player who is buying gems with gold to the player who is selling gems. There is no gold generated. The gold comes out of the pocket of one player and goes into the pocket of another.

There were several posts on the previous page discussing this.

Edit:
John Smith.4610:
As a quick aside. Gems in the currency exchange are finite. You may buy gems with real money to your hearts content, but if you don’t put any of them gems into the currency exchange the currency exchange’s stock of gems never changes.

John Smith.4610:
Think of it this way. The government can print as much money as they want, that doesn’t mean your bank account has access to that money. The currency exchange does not have access to gem creation. It has a limited stock that players add and subtract from.

These Gold Sinks...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Astral Projections.7320

Wouldn’t the gold to gems ratio be a somewhat separate issue from ingame gold inflation? The cure for one is not the cure for the other. ANet, theoretically could put more gems in the pool, but I can’t see them doing that. It decreases because more people want to buy gems with gold than want to sell gems for gold.

My guess is ANet is going to sit and watch it unfold. In theory, eventually it will become tempting enough for people to trade gems for gold and the rate of exchange to flatten. But this may take years. People who are starting out can get a starting infusion of gold by buying gems and selling them, but bank tabs and other items may become only for real money or ingame rich players.

It’s not a separate issue because we don’t have inflation at all.
An excess of gold is introduced in the system every day, that’s for sure, but it doesn’t make prices to rise besides maybe for a few vanity items.

The release of ascended weapons has “forced” anyone interested to craft about (probably more) 15 exotic weapons, flooding the market and making prices to go as low as reciclable goods (same will probably happen with armor and trinkets).
With standard gear losing even more value than gold, and regular sinks (waypoints, repairs, respecs, holding runes, trait books) being laughable for the amounts we earn, gems are almost the only real use for gold unless we’re aiming for something really exclusive, and has become the main gold sink on the whole game.

For a paying customer (excluding the weird people who buy precursors with real money), which is obviously going to get his BL goods directly with cash, there aren’t many reasons to exchange gems for gold.
There’s a limit in theory for this to change, that’s true, but if gold is only meaningful for vanity, and vanity is the only thing that suffers inflation, then that limit can be really far away.

It doesn’t really matter if a BL exclusive armor reaches insane prices (T3 culturals are over 100 gold, so still plenty of room for gem price to rise), the problem is with the basic/QoL stuff in the gem store (I refuse to think this game is expected to be played with a single bank tab) which, gold wise, is already more than in the game itself.

A boost in the gold value, be it by nerfing gold sources or introducing new sinks, would not only fight the inflation but also make more interesting the gem to gold exchange.
A lot of good could be done just alternating the selling point for new armor/weapon skins between the BLTC (gems) and some ingame NPC (gold). It probably would produce less earnings for ANet, so it’s highly unlikely to happen, but the damage for the game could be worse in the long run without some changes.

It’s true there isn’t much price inflation of most items in the gem store, but there is inflation in the player gold supply. Everyone started at launch with zero gold and now having hundreds of gold is not unusual. There is the occasional long term player who may only have a little, but I suspect that the average casual player who hasn’t bought expensive items has at least 100 gold. Spread that growth in equity over the entire player base, and the amount of money that is pooled in banks and sitting there is substantial.

Basic items not becoming more expensive in the TP may be more a function of lack of demand than lack of inflation. After all, once you reach level 80, and most long term players have at least one level 80, the demand for basic gear is low. This lack of demand may be masking inflation, rather than there being a lack of it.

Where you can see inflation occurring is where demand is, the vanity items. The increase in the prices of the precursors and Legendaries are, imo, a sign of this masked inflation.

It’s because ANet has left out one very important detail. EVERYONE IN THIS GAME IS SECRETLY A VAMPIRE. (Wow, I feel so much better now I’ve told you this. Shhhh. It’s still a secret, don’t tell no one else).

When you kill something while dying, you suck the life force out of them. This increases your life force and health allowing you to heal and get to your feet.

This is the whole basis of the new living story and expansion after the Scarlet one is over. It will be vampires versus the next dragon. We will turn into giant bats and suck the dragon’s blood and life force out in an epic fight that leaves it a dried husk on the ground. And we will be enormous bloated balls of dragon blood, lying on the ground beside it.

And just think, you heard it here. (I hope ANet doesn’t read this or I will be in such trouble for letting you know the next stage of this game).

Talking about gold, the game actually needs either more sinks or less sources.

There’s something quite dangerous going on with gems atm.
If ascended armor/jewelry is introduced on a similar fashion to weapons, and exotic counterpart prices devaluate as much as exotic weapons did, we are going to find ourselves on a point were, gold wise, fully gearing a character with exotics is cheaper than a single bank tab.
When just QoL upgrades cost far more gold on gems (storage through bank tabs and bag slots, character slots) than on TP / through regular sinks (storage through bags, fairly decent gear), the gold to gem exchange is going to be much more used than the opposite, and exchange rate is going to keep rising.
At some point, that rate may get so high that alienates A LOT of no real cash users (the cost of a bank tab is probably already depressing for newcomers).
I don’t really know if this is desirable for ANet. If not, gold needs to at least recover some value (some real value outside exclusive skins) for a stable situation. Is that or a complete overhaul of gem economy.

All of GW1’s market was skin based.

Runes, Insignias, Minis.

Alcohol, sweets, unidentified golds.

-50 Cesta.

Ah, the good old days.

Minis, booze, candy and unids had absolutely nothing to do with the gameplay.
The only rune that one could consider to be something to ‘save up for’ was the Sup Vigor one and the -50 Cesta was cheap because it was only essential in one (albeit very popular) build and was easy to get for any Tyrian characters.

Minis, Alcohol, sweets, unidentified golds.
They had everything to do with the game play as the game play was title grinds and those were all used for one title grind or another.

Also add lock picks, Zaishen keys, and war supplies to the list. All pricy and all used for title grinds.

You can’t show pics from preview for each one? Kinda hard to judge unless you just want people to flip a coin.

Oh no not me I was asking if anyone has chosen a Charr to use the gas mask on that they would like to share a pic.

Here’s a pic of my charr engineer using it, if you want others to see it better let me know but you’d have to wait until tonight when I get home.

Back on topic, I’d say that I couldn’t chose without looking at each character’s armor first, to see if it fits together.

I don’t usually like the Charr head gear. But that looks very good. ^^

I kinda’ have to disagree to a point there is a substantial amount of RL money that is brought into the game everyday through people buying gems with RL money. What I’m saying is they only convert and bank, they do not buy anything with the gold.

Snip

If you are saying here that real life money brings gold into the game, then you are incorrect.

When someone, let’s say me, buys gems with real money and sells them on the TP, no gold is generated. The gold I get is 100% from other players who are buying gems with ingame gold, no new gold is created. This gold is directly transferred from their bank to mine. Zero gold is generated and zero inflation occurs.

But what about the people who use RL money to buy gems then convert those gem to gold on the TP? Doesn’t that add a new amount of gold to the system?

There is only one way to convert gems bought with real money to ingame money, and that’s to sell those gems to other players on the trading post.

As an example, I buy gems with real money and sell them to you, who are buying gems with gold.
First I buy the gems with real money, ANet gets my money and it goes in their pocket. They give me gems in exchange. I then turn around and sell the gems to you in exchange for your gold. No gold is generated. The money goes directly to ANet and the gold is transferred from your account to mine.

Stupid stupid stupid….all this time I thought ANet controlled the gem sales and that when you sold your gems for gold it was a transaction between you and ANet..not you and another player

Thank you Sir, I get a much clearer picture now.

From reading the forum for over a year, it’s a common misunderstanding.

One thing ANet could do better, is when they see people misunderstanding the background of the game that goes on for literally months at a time, is to post corrections somewhere. It doesn’t need to be in each thread. They could have a sticked post that is specifically for correcting common incorrect beliefs.

Edit:
That’s why the gold to gems ratio keeps going up. Most people who buy gems with money don’t sell them to other players for gold but use the gems to buy items in the gem store. This means players who are buying gems with gold are chasing after gems that are getting scarcer, that are in a slowly decreasing pool of gems. As gems get scarcer, the price of them for gold goes up. The prices won’t stabilize until it gets more tempting to sell the gems bought with real money for gold than it is to use them to buy items from the gem store.
