How much gems did these armor cost?
They had costumes in their store that you could wear over armor but every piece of armor in game was either given to you at start or craftable. You had to get the mats and give them to an NPC to craft.
My pet peeve time! Piqued not peaked. Unless this is the most interest you’ll ever have?
I peeked at my pique, but it wasn’t peaked. I was then quite piqued (and annoyed).
These are a couple of my favorite necro armors. One, the Sunspear, is a starting armor.
While I hate to recommend spending real life money, if you have money to spare you can look into the mercenary pack.
With this pack, you can use your own level 20 chars as heroes. They can be outfitted with good gear and weapons, you can select what skills and attributes they have, it allows you to activate their skills when you wish and it allows you to make up a hero party with exactly the profession mix that is best for you. This does mean you have to level up those professions to 20, but that doesn’t take long and if you go that route, imo it’s well worth it.
I want to know if I throw four minis into the forge, will those four minis unlock for me just like the way the armor/weapon wardrobe works now.
I haven’t seen anything that says one way or the other on how this will work.
Huh? I don’t Mystic Forge much. You are saying that if you throw unlocked armor and weapons they unlock into your wardrobe?
Makes sense, I suppose. It counts as destroying them, same as salvaging. Would be my best guess.
Well, news to me. Like I said, I don’t mystic forge much. Not after it stole all my gold (30 gold) back at launch, trying to make the eternal Princess Doll tonic. We haven’t been on speaking terms since then.
Edit: I said unlocked weapons/armor. I meant locked.

While I do agree with Vayne that ANet should talk more openly to us. I don’t agree that he should have singled out this feature pack as an example. They can hardly say, “Here is a QoL feature pack. Makes some changes. Some will like it. Some will not”.
In marketing, everything always has to be the best thing since sliced bread. When has anyone seen an advertisement that said, “We made some changes, hope you will like it. We know not everyone will”. To expect ANet to do this is not reasonable.
What is reasonable is to expect more openness and a rough guideline to the future. A blog posted every month or so that says what they hope to accomplish and what had to be scrapped. To expect changes in marketing, that won’t happen.
Happened to our group. Hammer carrier fell off the platform, died, and the hammer disappeared.
i’ll be “that guy”
You forgot Kurzick.
Necromancer Elite Scar set. Nuff said
Mmmmm. My female Norn necro with with the Trickster Demon face mask and the Elite Scar pattern armor.
It will never happen. (Sigh)
Let’s just say there is a fairly high probability it will start when you reach level 10 and a good possibility the first key won’t be available till level 20.
Either way, if that happens, key farming is badly nerfed.
Yah I know. >.>
But hopefully after the update they will at least reappear when you come out of the water. There’s that at least.
“New achievements will also now be available for completing Wardrobe account unlocks for the series 1, 2, and 3 minis.”
When you already have all the AP for those mini sets, will you unlock them retroactively? Because I’m sure not I’m alone when I say that I have sold all my mini’s after I unlocked the achievements related to them.
Yeah, it is total bullkitten.
Ok. I didn’t have very many minis so a friend loaned me all her minis so I could get the mini collector title. I had them for about one minute, got the title, gave them back. So, I also have them all “unlocked”. Should I also have the right to display them?
The game can’t hardly be expected to tell the difference between my case and his.
I’ve heard that before but I’ve never seen the minis I use teleporting on any of my characters, they do seem to catch up and fall behind, but that cycle definitely falls more heavily on the lagging behind end of the scale.
Isn’t that where they are catching up, when they teleport to you? After that they lag again of course. What I was more referring to is them lagging so far behind they leave the mini map area. Mine never do that unless my game is also lagging.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
Imo the price leap is from people buying up the cheap ones for later resale, exposing old prices from back when the mini first came out. People left the old prices up and never pulled and relisted those minis, they forgot about them or stopped playing long ago.
The point being, we need to be able to UNcall targets. (I do the same thing myself all the time for the various “hunt” Dynamic Events).
Target your mini pet. It’s annoying when someone targets you as a party member in a dungeon or another area where there is nothing else to target besides other players. Most people don’t like the target floating over their head. So if that happens I just get out my mini pet and target it.
Good idea. You can target the mini (and I think the target doesn’t show then) and if it still bothers you, you can unsummon then summon it,
Lol. I cleared out my mini pet inventory about a week ago. Got rid of all the ones I don’t use regularly. Oh well.
Don’t they all just sit in the bank safely? Why would they need to be cleared out?
Yeah. Needed the money. I wanted a 730 gold purchase (a permanent bank access) and sold off inventory, including minis I never used, to get enough. I didn’t want to sell the extra crafting mats I have in case they bring cooking and jewelry to level 500.
Can I get a dev response to this please?
What about people who have “unlocked” all the minis (which can be proven by checking the account but no longer have said minis? For instance, mine I gave away to guildies so they could complete their collections and yet now I get punished for my generosity. Though I have"unlocked them all" I can not use them…
Until you get a Dev response, (which may be never).
“Let’s start with inventory space. All minis can now be treated as account unlocks in the Wardrobe. The new mini section in the Wardrobe allows you to convert any mini in your inventory to an account unlock. Unlocking destroys the mini from your inventory, but once it’s unlocked, that mini is available to all your characters to equip simultaneously for no additional cost.
Any minis currently in your bank or bank collection tab will still be in your bank when you log in. You’ll need to take them out individually and choose whether to unlock them for your account or dispose of them some other way. In order to make this easier, all minis of the same type now stack in inventory."
From what they have said here, it’s only minis that are currently in your inventory that are involved with this. You got a title for having the others. If you no longer have them because you gave them away or sold them then, no. If you are unhappy about being generous, bug your guildies to give them back.
I’ve sold a bunch of minis. Should I have the gold I got for them plus the right to display the ones I sold? How is this different? How would the game tell the difference of sold minis from given away minis?
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
If you can possibly log in before the next update on sept 9th, you might want to do so. Logging in gives you the current living story segment for free. If you miss it, it’s 200 gems to buy. If you don’t you can still see the content by partying with a friend and doing it but you won’t get the rewards or the achieves.
Lol. I cleared out my mini pet inventory about a week ago. Got rid of all the ones I don’t use regularly. Oh well.
Sorting would be nice. Alphabetical or time played would be my wish.
I have 12 character slots. 8 that I play regularly. 3 mules that I visit every day to open a chest and my (soon to be made a mule) key runner. Over the course of one day then I typically log on to 4 to 5 of my characters, maybe more depending on what I do that day. This means the order they are in is scrambled each day.
I pity those with multiples of the same profession or the ones with large numbers of alts.
There is an extremely good chance that key running will be nerfed completely on Sept 9th. If it were me and I already had a few scraps then I would run as many as I could to get a full ticket. Possibly also to get as many boosters, merchants, bank accesses, etc.. as possible before then if you value such items.
Other than that, maybe not. There are only a few more days till the next update and if it’s going to end so soon, this is not a good time to starting out with key running.
True, they lag behind, which is strange. But they teleport to you periodically as you run along, I think when they hit the leash limit. The only times I’ve had to wait for them to catch up is when I’m lagging. That’s also the only time I see them outside the leash limit.
Wow. My mini Southsun Kasmeer is now 329.99 gold. Up from about 30 gold or so. O.o
Supply went from 60 to 2.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
I don’t think other people besides you or the ones in your party can see called targets, so you don’t need to be embarrassed that you called on another player. They can’t see it.
However, yes. It would be nice if a double tap removed the called target.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
Very nice QoL update. I use, or try to use, minis all the time. But they disappear every time you turn around (go into water, change maps) that if was an annoyance resummoning them. With this update, I expect to see a lot more minis running around.

“if your email address aka account name was john.doe@example.com and your account name display name was MrxFivexAlive.2980, and your password was ThisIsABadPassWordDoNotUseIt”
The way ANet named account and display names confuses so many people. There are regular posts where people think the account name is the display name and then can’t log onto the game.
May 28th patch (2013?). Even I, who doesn’t do any role playing, found this patch pointless and counterproductive. one of the many forum threads discussing it.

Maybe make the currencies dungeon tokens, one token for one event. The dungeon vendor can be updated to sell any new regional reward items as well as the rares and exotics he already has.
Supposition: I’m a PvP player, I want to play a new profession so I create a lvl 1 character of the desired profession. The PvP button isn’t shown bacause I don’t have the right lvl (18 or 22 I don’t remember), but as a veteran I know how to join the PvP lobby.
Now I enter a random PvP server. What happened when my HP drop to 0 ? Am I downed, or do I simply die because I’m only lvl 1 ?
Aren’t all PvP players up scaled automatically to level 80?
I used that booster to level one of my chars (together with exp/birthday booster). Trust me on ‘exploration exp’ mobs (mobs wich nobody kills), you get craploads of experience, expecially with new system. Tbh I like that booster more then armor/speed/rejuv booster.
I read they improved it, that you can refresh it and get it going again after the time runs out. Is that correct? I remember, if you didn’t kill something in that time period, it expired and that was it.
If so, it might be useful to me if they ever release new professions/races.
Edit: It was greatly improved
Killstreak Experience Booster http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Killstreak_Experience_Booster
Double-click to consume.
Active Kill Streak!(1m): +10% Exp from each kill for each stack. Maximum +100%
Boost lasts for one hour. Kill streaks last 60 seconds from the most recent kill and can be restarted as often as necessary within the hour.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
Killstreak boosters you can at least now convert to something else with enchantment powders.
aye, true…..now.
Still a pretty bad booster… does ANYONE actually like that booster? XD
Well, I like it now that I can change it to something else, like a gathering booster, or karma, or magic find.
I get one of those killstreak boosters now and say, “Hah! Watch me change it to something good.”
Sell them or throw them into the mystic forge.
^
Pretty much. Either mystic forge them in the hope of not only getting an exotic but getting an exotic that is worth more then the 4 rares you put in. Or sell them directly for the few silver each they are worth.
Can’t see video either.
essences of luck, and skill scrolls….. are just so so insulting. (and why I will never pay cash for keys.)
I also hate getting mystery tonics ..if I could trade them,it’d be ok, but nooooo >.>
and killstreak boosters Y_Y, with their super annoying long name to delete ><’
Oh lord, I forgot about the skill scrolls. I have about a stack and a half still sitting (I have this wild notion that ANet one day might have more profession/races and I put those aside for that. I know. Small hope). Please. No more skill scrolls either.
Killstreak boosters you can at least now convert to something else with enchantment powders.
The golem is only useful for key farmers and key farming may get nerfed in the next update. Otherwise, it’s only good for 2 weeks on a new char you make. It’s really not worth the price for that imo since 2 weeks goes by so fast.
Have y’all forgotten that drops aren’t the only way to get rares? Rares at level 35 and on up can be crafted by all the professions. (Here is the lowest level for armorsmith. This is the helm, the whole suit can be crafted also: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gladiator_Helm)
If ectos could be salvaged from level 35 and up crafted gear, that would most definitely affect the market.

Rank Rating Gear Level Variations of Armor Name
Novice 0 – 74 5 – 20 8 Fine, 6 Masterwork Chain

Journeyman 225 – 299 55 – 65 7 Fine, 7 Masterwork, 8 RareReinforced Scale, Gladiator
Adept 300 – 399 70 – 80 9 Fine, 9 Masterwork, 10 Rare Barbaric, Gladiator
Master 400 – 499 80 20 Exotic Draconic
Grandmaster 500 80 19 Ascended IllustriousFair point. For the sake of argument, aren’t they kind of pricey to make though? I mean, they usually sell for around 60s-1g+ a piece. I know the price to make them isn’t quite that much, but it’s still not dirt cheap.
If we’re being realistic about how this would affect the economy, we also have to take into account the price of mats for crafting these average yellow items going up as a result of the increased demand from people trying to craft them for ectos… which would probably stabilize quickly to a point where you’re paying more to make the item than you would get from selling 1 ecto.
So although (in theory) it could flood the market with a ton of ectos, the benefit from obtaining them through crafting wouldn’t necessarily be as good as it sounds.
True, they can be a bit pricy to craft. The lowest level (35) helm requires iron (easily farmable), wool and T2 mats. The wool would probably have to be bought, but the iron and T2 mats could easily by farmed for those who want to craft to get ectos.
It was my impression that the contents from black lion chests were to be a mix of gem store items.
Essences of Luck should not be one of the items from a chest.

I think dungeon tokens for events is an interesting idea.
- It’s a currency already in game so another doesn’t have to be added.
- It allows people who don’t do many dungeons to get tokens.
- It rewards people for doing events with the ability to buy rares and exotics they can salvage and also to fill up their wardrobe.
- The NPC who sells items for these tokens can be easily updated to sell new region specific rewards.
I’m afraid your response doesn’t convince me that ANet isn’t going to do this.
The answer to most of your objections is, it’s already set up in China for the personal story to start at level 10. If they can do it there, they can most certainly do it here.
As to immersion breaking, if ANet doesn’t consider it immersion breaking the way it’s set up in China then why would they consider it immersion breaking for the NA/EU Clint?
I totally agree with your prediction and your attitude about it. We are the open minded ones here, rogue is being incredibly closed minded saying there is no way he could be wrong. It could go either way, but judging by the sound of the update and how they have been using a lot of things from the China side. Again not 100% certain, but It is a pretty safe bet to say PS will start at level 10. I seriously hope Rogue is right, I just really don’t think he is.
I’m hoping I’m wrong but there is another thing. No red post saying, “the personal story starts at level 2, just as it always have”. True, they don’t post often but if they were to say this there would be a lot of happy people thanking them, including myself. Since they don’t have any good news to tell us then they are staying far away.
Prom previous published scrap drop rates, it typically takes about 50 runs to get 10 scraps. It varies of course. Some may get 10 scraps in much less, others in more. Whether or not the other items you get for doing this are worthwhile or useful depends on how you value them.
Indeed. I’ve read the upcoming changes so far announced and I’ve read about what they have done in China. This leads me to deduce that this particular change (personal story starting at level 10) is also coming.
Just because I believe the changes are coming and can understand ANet’s reasons for this doesn’t mean I am personally in favor of it. I do key farming regularly and this change will adversely effect both what I like to do and my income.
It’s quite possible to say, I think this is going to happen and the reasons why I think so without being happy about the change.
Have you guys not played the Sylvari intro? Chapter 1 part 1 of Sylvari is the dream, for which the character is born… how the hell are you going to play to level 10 before your birth? I mean you really think they are going to jack up the story that they love so much? Sylvari without chapter 1 isn’t going to make any sense and will screw up the story completely.
You access chapter 1 story as soon as you create your character, and it has tutorials built into it. There’s many reasons to believe that you unlock it at level 1 so players in this topic probably shouldn’t go around parading it as a confirmed fact.
The intro cut-scene leads straight into the prologue or chapter 1 part 1… part 2 is a tutorial that will be worthless at level 10. It works just fine as is, and no changes mentioned warrant that there will be any changes to the intro.
The concept that you must be 10 levels higher than the content to unlock it does not hold true to anything thus far in game and is impossible to be consistent with in terms of the level 80 content, as that is the cap level.
People keep saying China release is working just fine, and they are going to use that concept here. First off China’s release was and still is a painful thing to look at. And it would not be an easy thing to go in and change all 5 races intro, and push all that content back to level 10. It’s not a copy paste job. China’s GW2, is not GW2 in my opinion. It was manipulated by a China publisher that is well hated over there, and I’m sure they are getting their fingers sticky with every dirty gem purchase there.
Also in the process of leveling up to 10 you will likely overwrite parts of the tutorial in chapter 1 part 2, so that would need to be changed as well.
The idea that you must be Lvl 10 for chapter 1 (1-10) Level 20 for chapter 2 (11-20) Level 30 for Chapter 3 (21-30) Level 40 for chapter 4 (31-40) Level 50 for chapter 5 (41-50) Level 60 for Chapter 6 (51-60) Level 70 for Chapter 7 (61-70) and Level 80 for Chapter 8 (71-80) basically means all story content and rewards respective to the contents level will be obsolete… The content will all be a cake walk at those levels.
Limiting players to being a higher level than the content they are running is something they have not done ever and is not consistent. It would be a horrible move to throw new players out on a limb to have to farm to level 10 out the gate before giving them any sort of guideline, or even story to what is going on in their characters timeline and personal story… There is no denying all the facts I’ve laid out.
There is the possibility that they will remove the key from the story rewards, and I think that has a much greater chance of happening than them moving level 1 content to level 10. However giving new players that key after chapter 1 is the perfect time to introduce players to black lion keys so that they can begin buying them from the market. So I doubt they will remove keys as an early reward as that doesn’t make much sense either.
I’m afraid your response doesn’t convince me that ANet isn’t going to do this.

In fairness to Astral Projections, he did say he wishes he’s wrong. I think he’s just playing the devil’s advocate and explaining how Anet would justify the change and how new players could potentially benefit from it. That said, I still feel like it’s an unwarranted change; particularly since I find the personal story to be another means of leveling instead of having to do heart quests (I find them very tiresome). I also like how they are not exactly gated, since I like the idea of having control whether I want to do them now or not.
Indeed. I’ve read the upcoming changes so far announced and I’ve read about what they have done in China. This leads me to deduce that this particular change (personal story starting at level 10) is also coming.

If they really wanted to get rid of or at least in any way hinder keyfarming, then why don’t they remove Transmutation Charges from city exploration? Last time I checked they sell those for gems as well, and they’re even for sale now. And you can farm them just like keys by creating a new character and exploring all five cities. So it doesn’t make sense to me to prevent players from farming keys. shrug
It’s not about key farming. If it were all they would have to do is remove the key as a reward from the level 10 instance. This is ANet trying to improve the leveling experience for brand new players. If the upcoming changes nerf key farming, it’s a side effect.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
If it turns out key running gets that nerf, that means there will be that much less demand for chests. Unless these people are planning to sell to the people doing as many key runs as they can before the next update, they might find themselves holding a lot of black lion chests.
They should be on there. I play all 8 professions and when I’m downed is the only time to see the skills. At that time I’m usually not spending my time reading the skills and refreshing my memory of what they do.
It would be so much more reasonable to put these sort of skills on the hero panel so I can look them over at my leisure.
It’s strange they are put in there. Just because some can be crafted doesn’t make them a crafting mat. It’s annoying to have them take up limited space in my crafters bags. They should go in some other, perhaps the general, no special properties bag.
So, you are saying if you put a Gem Store armor on a chest piece with 4 dye channels, the Gem Store armor will have 4 dye channels, and if you put it on a chest piece with 3 dye channels, the Gem Store armor will have 3 dye channels.
O…k…seems a bit odd. I haven’t found that to be the case, but maybe my client is askew. =)
Hmmm I see what you are saying. Maybe I’m wrong and you’re right.
Do some medium armors have different dye channels than other ones? Do some medium chests, for example, have 3 dye channels and some have 4? I would think that all the ones pieces of a weight class would have the same number of dye channels. If they don’t, then maybe OP managed to find a mismatch for the Krytan armor.
