I like them the way they are, they make my Asura look like a little Cupid.
(A Cupid with big floppy ears and shark teeth that can take an arm off if you annoy her)
If you are an engie you get a twofer with this purchase. A Mist Herald/Hobosack backpiece.
It’s exciting and wonderful to have the option to switch the Mist Herald backpiece to a Hobosack whenever you want to. And it’s free! You don’t have to use any T-charges to do this. Isn’t that the best thing since sliced bread?
The other professions are wailing and gnashing their teeth because they don’t have this option.
No backpiece is dyeable. It might have something to do with slot it’s in. All backpieces are in a jewelry slot, not an armor slot.
As usual, thank you for this information Dulfy.
(However I think I’ll be holding onto my gems a bit longer)
I’m confused. Who says you are cheating, other people or this is something you are just saying? How would other people know you are swapping out the skills?
You know, I bet it’s a bug and not intentionally removed.
I find this very pity. It was these small things which makes the gw2 charming and let people stay. I doubt that is too confusing for a new player, they can handle it, I’m for sure. Please bring back the wolftonic.
And … we have the right to say “this cake is a lie” after there is no pie available anymore: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Farmer_Eda
Didn’t Aguri say the tonic was still in game but from a different vendor?
There is another wolf tonic available, though I can’t guarantee it looks the same. It says plant dog but it turns you into a brown wolf. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Plant_Dog_Transformation
Why can’t y’all use that?
well i just invited a friend who has literally no idea about GW2.
when he finished his tutorial, he has no idea where to go. so i had to explain that you go hearts first because the story starts at lvl 10.
now he’s 17 and does not know about swapping weapons, and their slots.
and according to him he finished his hearts on the 1-15 map and he has no what to do next because his story needs to be at level 20.
Did you tell him he can go to another map to do more exploration?
Unless he turned the arrow off, it should point to the next map and tells him to explore there. I’ve seen it do that on my level 80 chars with less than 100% map exp!oration.
The GWVCHA “Guild Wars Veteran and Champion Association” fully agree with the OP.
We will call a unfair labour practice strike in the next few days.
Oh please. Give me a break.
What is his job description here. “Spawn. Be killed. Drop loot.” If OP can’t handle these “onerous” duties, these duties that every minimum wage Risen in the game do every day then he needs to either man up or step down and become a yellow mob somewhere. Coming to the forum to whine about conditions the Champions have been living under for months now is pathetic.
I was wrongly banned too. Has to contact support and get unbanned. I just shrugged it off. Support are human beings and mistakes happen. It certainly didn’t occur to me to demand recompense.
OP, Zhaitan offered you the title and the pay raise and you took it. But if the job is above your ability, give it up. There are bound be lots of Risen who would love to be bringing home that sort of paycheck and have that title. Let one of them have it.
If you can’t handle the level 80 area, maybe you should look for a job somewhere else. There are plenty of job openings for a low level yellow mob somewhere in the game. Ask for some secluded corner. Tell them your nerves are bad and you need some time to recover in a spot where no one goes. I know you are technically speaking already dead but if you don’t have your health then you have nothing. Don’t hang on to a job that’s killing you (again).
The button at the bottom of the filter should be “apply filter” not “reset filter”. It’s really unintuitive at the moment and it seems pretty insane that I am force to send 4 or 5 useless requests to the TP server when I configure a filter instead of just setting everything up and clicking a button to apply it.
Oh, it means to apply filter? Lol. I never touched it because I didn’t want to reset the filter back to the default.
sprocket pickaxe = P2W
I already told you guys… I am the sprocket king. I have won the game by accumulating the most sprockets. You can stop playing and talking about the sprocket now.
Seriously though, the Sprocket Pickaxe is no more P2W than any other gemstore item, it is just more direct with the level of convenience it bestows. If you think that convenience = P2W, then the game shipped that way and the Sprocket Pickaxe is therefore no more P2W than anything else because the entire gemstore is P2W.
There are people posting on these forums who think that being able to buy pretty weapons or armor from the gem store means that Guild Wars 2 is pay to win. (Apparently styling is the new PvP battle ground). You’ll never be able to convince these people that getting extra sprockets isn’t p2w.
Isn’t that picture one of a guild mission spot? Yes it is.
When you see something like that, it’s several guilds doing it all at the same time. Each party has 5 members and it’s useful for the leader of that party to put up a tag. It’s a lot easier for the party members to locate him, especially when they are doing bounties. It’s easier to say “bounty is at my tag” and be located by the other members of the guild. Or say “mission is at my tag,” for the new people on the guild who don’t know where it is.
It’s easy for people to sneer and say they are showing off and other remarks but here there is an actual use for these tags in this obvious situation.
i did a dragon event the other day i counted 15 commanders tag showing on the screen before i stopped counting. no dragon event needs that many tags seriously i dont care how many guild groups doing it. 90 percent are just showing off their tags and they dont need to do it its annoying. so yes when they do that im going to sneer and make remarks.
yes the tags are useful (especially in wvw) but when ive done the event enough and i know wheres its at and no event needs that many tags. i want to be able to turn off the tags on mini map. as for the who suggested that being able to turn of those who you classified i like that idea as long its my opinion what tags get turned off and no voting of commanders
I was objecting specifically to the picture that OP showed. That picture is of a guild mission spot and while there may have been a couple of random tags in there, the other tags are up because those guilds asked those members to display the tags. If OP had shown numerous tags around LA or numerous tags around the Maw that would be different. But he showed an instance where the tags are being used for a specific purpose and then asked for a nerf of commanders, implying that all groups of tags are up for frivolous, vanity reasons.
Hello
I’m ethan an I’m a key farmer addict . its been 1 week since i went after my last key.
Now that the key farm is broken (my opinion) I’m now left with the shakes and the cold sweat. oh and i have about 35,000 chests . What to do , what to do .
Gosh, there is such a simple solution to your problem. (I can’t believe you don’t know it)
Ok, check your pockets, look under the sofa cushions. All you need to find is a measly $36,750€. Used that to buy 2,940,000 gems worth of keys and there you are. Open the chests and rake in the goodies.
Problem solved.
Isn’t that picture one of a guild mission spot? Yes it is.

It’s a hard life OP. I agree. Spawning, dying, respawning, dying again. Knitting exciting underwear. (You obviously aren’t used to having handsome knights around you). But I find your complaints worthless. This is supposed to be a happy game. Let’s not bicker and argue over who killed who.
In my opinion, this is a learn to play issue. Sure they remove your arms and legs. A true fighter sneers at these small setbacks and considers them just a scratch.
The original question was about the origin of the term, not about our personal feelings about it. Use “toon” or don’t use it, as you prefer, but let’s not pretend that any of us individually get to choose how language evolves.
If we did, then no one would be able to “prioritize the monetization of the cash shop for a B2P coop RPG,” because people have objected to half the words in that sentence, with cause. The game wouldn’t be called “Guild Wars 2” (because: no wars between guilds in either game), fire would burn wooden objects, and Meteor Storms would damage friend and foe alike.
tl;dr you don’t have to use a word in order to accept that the rest of the world does.
Well, the OP did bring his feelings into it as well as ask about the origins of the word.
I’ve never heard it before and it took me forever to figure out that it doesn’t mean “cartoon” and means “my character”.
But it sounds so stupid, how did it catch on? Does it come from something else??
Saying that it “sounds so stupid” does open the gates for comments about how others feel about the word and its usage.
If you are only taking about skins, this would means that they would have to design brand new skins that cross class boundaries. I have no problem with that wish but I will point out that after 2 years of complaints about, for example, medium class and buttcapes/dusters they still release more of these with each new armor. If they don’t even address that and similar complaints then your wish to have mixed armor looks has a chance of close to zero.
I have to agree with Vayne here. There are a lot of people who either don’t know what they are talking about or who are making complaints, such as
“The difference in stats is so small, that all Anet teaches new players is: “expect to get crap-rewards””
Here he is talking about a reward for a brand new level 2 char, fresh out of the starter instance! Starter weapons always have crap stats. Who in the world expects to have a great weapon handed to you after playing for maybe 5 minutes? What game does that? This is an example of complaining to be complaining.

I have to admit, I’m enjoying selling my rare greatswords and other rare weapons for a nice price to all those trying their luck at the Mystic Toilet. Keep up the good work guys! I appreciate your business. I’ll have more to sell you after I do some more meta events.
(Walks away whistling a merry tune, pocket jingling with money from selling and salvaging rares).
I think it’s brilliant LOL I’ve often thought they should do a mini series about how mobs feel while they are on the job, as if they were themepark workers.
Lol. This reminds me of back when the Scarlet invasions were ongoing. I remember being in a zerg fighting in Blazeridge Steppes. There was a time when the whole zerg ran through an Ogre village, fought an invasion, then stampeded back through it again.
As I was running through it I was imagining the Ogre’s point of view.
There they are, doing their daily routines and chores at home, when suddenly out of nowhere this HUGE group of fighters wearing armor and waving weapons, shouting slogans like “For Great Justice!” runs into their village. Everyone grabs weapons to defend themselves against the onslaught but then something weird happens. The invaders just run through and disappear. After a bewildered pause, everyone settles down and gets back to work. Suddenly the invaders appear again! And again they run through the village, waving weapons and shouting, throwing everyone into turmoil, run out the gates and disappear. Leaving all the Ogres to stand there scratching their heads and saying, “WTF just happened here?”
I put that superior sigil of speed on my thief’s shortbow. It stacks fast and there are times when I have between 2 and 3 minutes of swiftness.
Maybe an item that transfers a crafting profession from one char to another. Can either be a gem store item or an item from an NPC (though I would bet this would be a gem store item).
My thoughts on how it would work:
The char that has that crafting profession double clicks on a item that transfers the chosen crafting profession to it. Another char then double clicks on the item and learns that crafting profession. (This char does not gain any exp for learning this profession).
A similar one could also be used to transfer recipes accidentally learned on one char to another. It brings up a list of all the ones that char knows and you can select the one you want to transfer.
His bark may be worse than his bite, but she needs to leaf him alone. How can he take root at the crafting table with a clinging vine like her around.
I wonder if it has anything to do with being on the same computer on both accounts. If so, it might mean that 2 different people who both use the same computer to play can see each other’s trading post’s history.
I don’t know if this could be considered a breach of privacy or not, but it does seem to mean privileged information might be available to others without permission.
I would ask for these changes
1) when selling more than one of an item, it should automatically set it for the maximum being sold or have a box to type in amount, the slider is cumbersome.
2) the option to click on a button and save a preference for when selling, either to always set a bid or sell to highest buyer. This button should remain visible for if I want to change my preference.
3) when canceling old items from the bottom of the sell list, don’t have it leap up to the top again. It makes me scroll back down repeatedly to the end of the list.
4) have a final price that shows exactly how much I am getting. If I’m trying to sell a lot of items it’s annoying and takes unnecessary time to have to calculate the final price on each one. How much I’m getting is an important piece of information and should be automatically displayed.
At this point the trading post feels very cumbersome.
Click on item to sell
If it’s more than one, click on the bar to set it to maximum (unnecessary click)
Click on the right side to set a bid, as I almost never sell to highest buyer (unnecessary click for me)
Look at prices. Add up the TP taxes. Subtract from total. Make sure this is an acceptable price. (unnecessary work and extra time that the TP should be doing automatically)
Hit sell.
Hit the accept button (to me, unnecessary click. It’s already gone at that point. It’s not like I could get it back by changing my mind. I don’t see the value of hitting accept after hitting sell if it’s gone anyway).
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
One possibility is when you were switching representation from one guild to another, you left that guild accidentally. The two buttons, Leave Guild and Represent, are right next to each other. it’s possible to hit Leave Guild instead of Represent without meaning too.
If this is what happened and if it was a personal guild with you as the only member, the guild is gone for good and support will be unable to help you get it back.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
Chars made before the change to traits will have the old system, even if you never leveled them and they’ve been sitting at level one all this time. Any char made after the new trait system was put in will progress under its rules, buying or doing the events to get the traits.
Then it’s been over 36 hours since you last heard from them.
You can post in that thread then for Gaile to look it over and see what’s going on. It wouldn’t hurt to check your spam and junk folders, just in case you got a response and it went in there. (Not getting our emails).
It is because of the NPE. Looks like you were in the middle of a step that requires lv20 to unlock. You should get the star back once you reach lv20.
lol. You’re right. I had completely forgotten about that detail. If you are in-between the story blocks then you won’t have a guide till you level to it.
Try toggling off and on the content guide. It’s under options—>general options—>user interface—>content guide
Maybe that will restore it. Possibly you have it set on ‘hide events and personal story’.
How long has it been since you last heard from support? If it’s been 3 days or more you can post your ticket number on the stickied thread above, Ticket for review-3 days and older.
Well, what can we say here.
When is the last time that character had a bath? She might find the “manly scent” pouring off his unwashed body to be so overwhelming that she forsakes all others.
Even Kasmeer has noticed that some people are more “manly” than others.
“Kasmeer Meade: Maybe we need a strong perfume like what I spray on a hankie when around…aromatic warriors.”
Sometimes it’s wonky and won’t highlight the ingredients. Try putting in the dust first then. See if it works that way.
As stated above, it’s not an exploit.
The question of whether they lost money by key farming is a different one and imo I suspect they didn’t. The people who key farmed did so because they either didn’t have the disposable real money to buy sufficient keys to get a weapon skin (typically around $50 USD) or simply didn’t want to. Nerfing key farming is unlikely to cause either of these 2 groups to buy keys.
It took me an hour to get to level 10 last time I tried it. What I’m going to try next time is to do the five easy hearts in Queensdale, run to the garrison and do the heart there then the heart that involves killing the wasps and wasp nests.
After that I found the hearts were too slow for fast leveling. I’m going to go to WvW. Run to the LA portal and go through. That puts me near the Caledon portal. Go through that and hit the easy starter hearts for more fast leveling.
I don’t want to craft to level. It seems counter productive to spend one or two gold each time. If you are doing this to get a weapon skin to sell it cuts into your profit too much unless you raise the price to cover crafting cost times the number of runs it took you.
It still drops too often though. I fought teq four or 5 times since the patch and got one every time.. I would rather get normal junk than this spoon.. at least that can be sold to vendors..
That argument, that it drops too often, is reasonable. However it can be vendored and unless you are salvaging everything it’s actually worth more than most of the other regular drops (blues and greens) as it can be vendored. It has a vendor price of 10 silver which is more than what most regular drops sale for or even salvage for.
When a word has an accepted meaning, you just can’t go and single handedly change the meaning to suit yourself.
So we agree then. You can’t just go changing the meaning of “Pay to Win” to ONLY refer to PvP scenarios.
Can you find a definition where it means other then PvP? Every place I looked refers to buying an advantage in PvP. I’ve certainly never seen one where it means to buy cosmetics and strut around thinking you are styling.
(Here I define glory to mean I used a fine knock down argument that you were unable to actually refute).
There was no need to refute anything, you were using the inherently faulty premise that PvP is the only way to “win” in a broad MMO. It was nonsense.
Bah. Managed to delete when trying to correct.
When a word has an accepted meaning, you just can’t go and single handedly change the meaning to suit yourself.
You can report yourself by contacting Support. If they decide it breaks TOS then you will be given the chance to change it. Either they will tell you to change it or when you log on there will be a halt and and option to change the name before you can finish logging in. (I’m not sure exactly how they do this part).
To contact support, go to the top of this page- Support. Then the top of the page again- Submit a request.
Since it’s so much more expensive than what Milton Book charges, it would make more sense to go to Cornucopian Fields instead.
All male armors are trench coats, except charr t3 chest (because leggins are the skirts, lol) so … here is my charr thief
Gasp! No Trenchcoat? I can see your charr’s body outline. I’m shocked and offended. I hope you aren’t playing where small children can see you. (Hands him a coat to cover up).
/just kidding.
My Charr ele is feeling extremely envious right now.
It shouldn’t
I also have a charr mesmer… SE chest piece, ascalons pants, rest obvious
Hmmmm. I missed that combination. I have to check it out.
What is the SE chest piece? Sorrow’s embrace? It doesn’t look the the light armor Sorrow’s Embrace chest piece.
Edit: nvm the important piece here is the pants, and I located them in the wardrobe. Looks like I need to do some dungeoning. ^^

This reminds me of the old saying, I cried because I had no shoes, then I met a man who had no feet. Except here it would be: I cried because I had no shoes, then I met a man who…… called his toon a toon?
First world problems. Really. Some people lives are too easy if they complain about stuff like this.

Is it actually an exotic taking an exotic loot drop though?
It’s colored like one but it’s actually labeled as a trophy.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Carved_Bone_Spoon
If it’s a trophy then the game should handle the drop as one, regardless of what color it is. Since it’s not labeled as an exotic there isn’t reason to think it takes an exotic loot drop slot.
Can one still change the home world for free if you delete all the characters?
Yes, to any server that isn’t full. There is a cooldown of 7 days from any previous server change or from initial start of playing (because you choose a server then and that is counted as a change).
Pay to win has always had the meaning, pay real money to win in PvP. To stretch it to mean win through cosmetic purchases is to take the Alice in Wonderland route.
‘I don’t know what you mean by “glory”,’ Alice said.
Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. ‘Of course you don’t — till I tell you. I meant “there’s a nice knock-down argument for you!”’
‘But “glory” doesn’t mean “a nice knock-down argument”,’ Alice objected.
‘When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’
You can’t take a word that has an accepted meaning and make it mean something different to support your argument.
