Second ascended ring - cannot equip

Astral Projections.7320

I’m surprised people still make this mistake to be honest. Unique rings are pretty standard in MMO’s.

And then there are people who haven’t played other MMOs. Or they only played Guild Wars 1 before this.

That is the first and only other multi player game for me and in that game, the precursor to this game made by the same studio that made this game, that term unique only referred to an item as having the highest stats possible as well as being a drop from a boss. When I read the term unique on ascended trinkets I had no reason to think that it meant, ‘you can equip only one’. Fortunately I had already read a thread about it so I didn’t make the same mistake as the OP did but the Devs did change the meaning of unique from the Guild Wars 1 meaning.

It’s puzzling that after 2 years of people making this error (and I’ve seen a number of threads about this) that they don’t save both purchasers and Support a lot of time and trouble by adding a warning.

They do drop from monsters. I’ve gotten 2 from killing mobs

They do? I have been playing since launch, and have never seen a key drop from a monster.

I’ve gotten at least 2. I got one from a hyena in Fields of Ruin a few months back and one from a skill point challenge mob in Metrica a long time ago.

Your post is a little confusing since you said you have been waiting a long time and then said you were hacked last Friday. I’m assuming it was Friday a week ago then, not the last one 2 days ago.

Did you do a full security sweep of your computer? If not, the hacker could have gotten into your email and might be deleting the emails from ANet. It wouldn’t hurt to do another sweep and then change the password on your email.

Then check your spam and junk folders, sometimes they go in there. You can read this thread, Not getting out emails for more information.

If it’s been over 3 days since you heard from them you can post your ticket number in the above stickied thread, Tickets for review-3 days and older.

Mini-pet changes in upcoming patch

Astral Projections.7320

I’ve asked this before…maybe I missed the answer.

What is meant by "…In order to make this easier, all minis of the same type now stack in inventory.”? As far as I know, Mini-pets of the same type already stack. In inventory, or bank. This is confusing to me.

They all don’t. I checked with my HoM minis and my Jenna minis. If you have multiples they don’t stack in your inventory. Each one of them takes an inventory slot.

I doubt someone actually had 250 Jennas. The max number of character slots is, I think 64. I’ve seen people put 250 of one legendary weapon in chat. It’s related to that I’m sure.

Sounds like they are in your collections tab until you removed them and do something with them.

“Any minis currently in your bank or bank collection tab will still be in your bank when you log in. You’ll need to take them out individually and choose whether to unlock them for your account or dispose of them some other way. In order to make this easier, all minis of the same type now stack in inventory.”

If you have a personal guild with a bank you can always stick them in there until you know for sure.

I assume you are trying to get in because of WvW, since it’s not needed if it’s only PvE.

ANet in the past has periodically opened up more spaces in all the servers once a number of them are full and the rest are very high. So, you might have to wait for when that happens.

What kind of armor do you like?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Astral Projections.7320

Astral Projections.7320

1) Armor without ridiculously large shoulders. That’s getting to be a real dislike for me. I was looking at all the Guild Wars 1 armors recently and so many had small NORMAL looking shoulders.

2) medium armor without trenchcoats. Some sleek lines here please. Trenchcoats are fine in their place but not so many that it’s overwhelming.

3) female light armor that’s not a long dress to the ankles with a open panel in the front, aka buttcapes. More sleek lines here also. Pants (without a short skirt) would be really nice.

4) armor that shows off tattoos, fur or glow is badly needed. I carefully choose fur for its colors, glow for its pattern and color and tattoos that were interesting. Then I had to get armor that hides these. >. >

"Store in Wardrobe"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Astral Projections.7320

What item are you talking about specifically? All items that were free to transmute BEFORE the wardrobe has remained so AFTER, as far as I am aware.

I believe he is talking about skins that come with one free application, such as the gem store backpieces. Once you use that it is stored in your wardrobe. If you don’t use it then it takes a spot in your inventory. You can’t “store it” in your wardrobe without using that free application first.

Much like mini-pets will be, I believe. You have a choice between ‘storing’ in Wardrobe at a cost (transmutation charge/loss of salability), or keeping in inventory.

Mini’s won’t cost T-charges?

Lost of salability in this case.

The bank collection mini slots will disappear after the patch unless there is a mini in a slot to hold that slot. Once that mini is removed, that slot will disappear also.

If you remove a mini from your bank collections or if you buy one after the patch, the choice will be to sell, store in regular inventory or bind permanently to your hero panel mini storage.

Astral Projections.7320

Does it work as intended?
This feature nowhere contains “store” except in the name.
I’d expect this to work like the “deposit collectible”, so after using this on a skin, it will move to the wardrobe and will not require a transmutation charge on the next use, and will not occupy an inventory slot until that happens.

As it is now… it is the same as “destroy”

You can expect whatever you want but if you wish to know if it’s “working as intended” then you can research it.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-wardrobe-system/
“For the Wardrobe, we’ve changed skins to an account-wide unlock system. Skins can be unlocked by using consumables, equipping items, salvaging equipment, or right-clicking on equipment and account-binding it. Items that you acquire that are already bound to your account automatically unlock their skin when they go into your inventory. Unlocked skins can be applied to items infinitely (for just one Transmutation Charge), which makes it much less stressful to try out a new look for your character, since you can always switch back!”

In other words, since it requires T-charges and it tells you so in the description then it is “working as intended”.

Not only are keys an extremely rare drop but what is normally in them, except for scraps, is not highly valued. If it weren’t for scraps I doubt there would be many key runners.

Imo keys are too high priced for what they contain. If it takes ~ 50 keys to get a ticket then the average price for a weapon skin with real money is $52€. Imo $52 is way too expensive for one skin in a game designed around getting and displaying skins. The most I would want to pay for a gem store skin is $10.

For those saying buy the skins with gold, converting gold to buy one skin with gems will be over 500 gold at current prices. For those saying, buy it from the trading post for ~100 gold, with the loss of key farming my expectations are that the prices of weapon skins will be a lot higher because of loss of supply from these farmers.

"Downed State" frightening for new players?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Astral Projections.7320

Astral Projections.7320

“Downed State” frightening , really, ppl need to get a grip if this is scary.

The thing is no one ever used the word frightening except in the OP. Anet was saying that people didn’t “get it” which was true. Baffling might have been a better word. Hard to understand even better. I don’t think anyone was frightened of it.

Actual quote says that they simply didn’t understand and that a tutorial didn’t work as well as delaying it.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2etzxq/a_fresh_start_the_new_player_experience_in_guild/
Yeah we thought so too. After tens of thousands of usability testers and interviews with players who tried Gw2 and left leading up to China launch both in NA/EU and in China – we learned we were wrong.
Honestly, we were kind of shocked how many systems, downed included a surprising number of players just didn’t understand. For downed, we tried a downed tutorial, building downed into the level 1 tutorial, etc. We found after usability testing with numerous different groups, the best rate of people learning and understanding it came from having it be layered complexity and the solution we went with above. Intuitively that wouldn’t have been my guess either initially, but we found people understood it better this way than all other options we tried.
This same level of testing led to the other changes as well. At the end of the day the biggest take away I’d say is: all of us, especially people who go to a reddit to discuss a game, probably know games (and Gw2) really really well. We have millions of users, and a tiny % of them frequent game forums or reddit. Just because all of us, me included, learned those systems well and thought it was all really easy doesn’t mean we are the norm

Second ascended ring - cannot equip

Well in GW1 you couldn’t weild 2 of the same weapons at once.

Maybe you couldn’t wield them simultaneously but you could put them into your equipment slots and switch between them as you wish. If you so desire you can also customize each of them, binding to that character’s use only.

Not hardly unique, as one of a kind, if you have 4 of them.

To Arenanet: I suggest you put some warning or anything regarding unique ascended rings so such mishaps will not happen in the future.

Something like “unique” maybe

ADJECTIVE

1. Being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else:

Unique per Guild Wars 1

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Unique_item
A unique item, also known simply as a “unique” or as a “green item” for its color in the inventory, is an item considered special and difficult to obtain. Most uniques are weapons, shields, or focus items, usually named after and dropped by a specific boss. Some unique items are drops from certain non-boss foes in specific areas, or rewards for finishing a campaign.

In this game an individual could have up to 4 of the same unique weapons equipped on the same character.

So unique does not necessarily mean, can equip only one of them. The definition varies and the game should spell out restrictions at purchase with a warning.

In your account bank? Or your guild bank?

Your account bank is bound to your account, so anything in there would be safe if you switch servers.

Your guild bank is server-specific for now, but come Sep 9th, all guild banks will be across servers, so anything in there will become available regardless of which server you’re on. (As long as you don’t leave the guild!)

Oh no , lol,,,I have to rethink quickly , I have a 2 man guild, my friend is on another server and I actually hide stuff from him in my guild bank, ekkkk now he will be able to access it ? Not that I don’t trust him , but he does have the tendency to “borrow” items

You can make another guild with a 50 slot vault, just for you. He doesn’t need to know about it.

No reward from The Shatterer unless zerging

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Astral Projections.7320

Hmmm. It’s more than just hitting the boss sometimes.

I was in Frostgorge once, doing an ori/ancient wood run. The claw event was going on and one node was by the event. I ran over, got the node, rezzed 2 people who were downed and ran on. Didn’t hit a single mob. Didn’t hit the dragon even once. When the event ended a bit later I got a reward chest on the side of the UI so I ran back to the site, saw the big chest and was able to loot it.

Maybe the claw is glitched and maybe the Shatterer is tougher, but if he hit it a couple of times and did other event related stuff, he should have gotten the chest.

One question, OP. Did you happen to use a char that has been in that area for a couple of days, doing stuff there? If so it’s possible to hit DR (diminishing returns) and not get rewarded. That happened to me when I had a char in that area over several days. I did that event and didn’t get a chest.

Did anyone try map completion for getting keys? How bad is the rng? I’ve gotten keys in a row once and sometimes a long streak of trans charges.

I expect the odds over time are 50/50 since you get either a key or a Transmutation Charge. You realize RNG means you can do several in a row and get a T-charge each time though.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Map_completion
Explorable zones
Rewards for completion of explorable zones scale up to the top level of that zone. For example, the map completion of Fireheart Rise can give rewards up to level 70. In addition, the rarity of the items recieved scale with the level of that zone, from Masterwork to Rare to Exotic.

Coins (amount scales with the level of the area)
Experience (10% of level at the time map was completed)
2 random pieces of equipment (approximate to level of the area)
1 Transmutation Charge or 1 Black Lion Chest Key
40 random crafting materials or 20 random ingredients available in the zone

The Wiki is known to have false or incomplete information. In this case, I believe you can get both a Tcharge and a BLK. I was doing map completion last night and i’m pretty sure I remember getting one of each. I could be having a brain fart though.

I suppose it’s possible, but aren’t there 4 slots? 2 of them for gear, one for mats and one for key/T-charge. Getting both a key and a T-charge means one appeared in one of the slots for those other items. I would think the slots for gear and mats would be “hard coded” for that, not gem store items.

Astral Projections.7320

The cost of making an ascended weapon from crafting level zero varies with the weapon but is approximately 150-160 gold for lvl 500 in that weapon type profession, and then another 30 for the weapon itself, all costs included.

25 Gold won’t cut it. Stick to exotics.

And while ascended is very slightly better than exotic, the difference is entirely dwarfed by the stats that using food gives you. even cheap level 70 odd food. I have never understood people that invest hundreds of gold in ascendeds, but refuse to spend 2 silver on food per hour. I could earn back the difference by harvesting any random iron node.

Also, search for Skale Venom on the wiki. It’s a copper-priced utility consumable that can be used together with food – the vulnerability increases kill rates and the weakness reduces damage dealt by mobs.

You may find the effects from cheap food and skale venom to already make a noticeable difference in play.

Skale venom. Sounds nice so I wiki’d it. 10% chance. It only lasts 10 minutes so it has to be frequently reapplied and this:

The armor isn’t worth it imo. Costs a ton to make and the stat gain is tiny. The weapons are better but I read a post where someone said that downleveled ascended do the same damage as exotics. If that is true, then their utility is very low as most gameplay for many is below level 80.

If you don’t have much gold and you don’t want to do them, just to have a goal, then I don’t recommend them.

They are bringing in a fair number of features from the Chinese client. The personal story there starts at level 10 and the first key is at level 20. They said they are restructuring both how the personal story is delivered (you will get a group of them at a time and then none for a while) and the rewards. Meh, it’s kind of the thing heroes do. Look at commander Shepard in Mass Effect. That’s what he did too, bring races together to fight a common big bad.

Yes…. i agree.
Even in Dragon Age they always fight the same guys.
But for god sakes they write different storys.
And i actually turned it on again after not playing it for years.
It was super refreshing how much fun a game can be and how well the storys are told.
But this is another topic

A dragon didn’t pop up in GW1, no one in lore told the player about a elder dragon. We didn’t fight a dragon.

Guild wars 1 is full of Dragons.

Bone Dragons
Rot Scale
Shinny
Kuwalavange(or how ever you spell it.)
Glint
Glints child
Sea spray dragons.
They are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

There is also that dragon frozen in the lake in the far north, in the Norn area. As well as the dragon bones in the Charr area.

Difference: Lowering the quality of bonding the Group even more.”

So want do you suggest instead? The dragon pops up but sends no minions? Just sits off in the distance somewhere radiating ill will? I guess it can ravage the countryside but then the landscape/cities would have to be heavily destroyed. Then rebuilt. Then destroyed again with the next dragon. Then rebuilt. Our little group of intrepid adventurers goes out to tackle an elder dragon by themselves? Without bothering to get as much support as possible? Everyone, if we did ask them, would be delighted to join in regardless of other problems they might have. We don’t bond together even after undergoing many trial and tribulations?

You said what you don’t like, but haven’t said what you do.

well…. if i have to write my own storys i can make my own game.

But let’s try

The Dragons are sleeping anyways, it’s not that they are just sitting there and wait for their turn to be slaughtered.
So what about completing the map 100% and then move to Cantha and Elona.

-Example would be Elona still ruled by Palawa Joko.
Let’s say the Order of Whispers who are the only one in contact with Elona if we believe the lore, waking the interest of Palawa Joko.
He intends to expand his territory. Zaithans minions are dead and he has sees he chance.
- This would be a way to unlock crystal desert.
Epic fights going on and off, front lines going back and forth.
-We are able to push into Elona and army of millions of mummys and skeletons
-We are batteling for ressources like water or plains to plant food.
-This could have real impact on the size of our armies
-Piece by Piece we take back Elona until we cornered Palawa Joko.
-Just before the the final blow Kralkatorrik the Dragon of the Crystal desert is waken up by the ongoing war and starts rampaging our back lines until we have to pull back.
-From now on Crystal Desert and Elona are a huge battlefield until a group of heros pops up who is able to face Kalkatorrik and defeats him by a smart idea.
-Elona is still a continuing battlefield after that…………………………

I made this story up while i was typing, so it doesn’t seem to difficult to make something else than rinse and repeat.
It also includes something players wanted most.
More contend………………………

Wasn’t that difficult actually

True, true. Sounds like an interesting story line (and truthfully better).

“GW2 Living Story 2
-Dragon pops up, having minions destroying the country.
-Group of people who could fight them have no interest being involved
-You bond group to fight the Dragon
-Defeat it
Difference: Lowering the quality of bonding the Group even more.”

I guess we could ask the dragons to go away so we could fight something else, bandits maybe.

At any rate, 2 years in, why even bother to make a post complaining about fighting dragons in a game that is specifically based on fighting dragons that are threatening the world? It’s pointless.

It is not fighting the Dragons……
It is repeating the same story again and again with constantly lowering the quality of the story.
Eye of the North wasn’t really a brand new story but it was super fun because of the journey you did to bond the groups.

In GW2 the canceled all the cool stuff.
I really don’t mind fighting Dragons but seriously write a new story for every Dragon

Like what? You can’t hardly solo fight an elder dragon (not realistically). That means each one has to involve getting a group together and finding out where it is and how to combat it. In every group of people, there are some that don’t believe in the threat or have other things to fight.

If you destroy 13 mini Queen Jennahs……. 13 mini Scarlets appear, and a new living story for each one shows up on your UI. 13 of them. All at once. And you can’t turn them off.
