They are trying to set up a world where events aren’t static. Like the real world where once it’s over with and you missed it, it’s gone. Having the landscape strewn with old, outdated LS events would go against this.

It rather sounds like a WvW map or one of the 3 Orr maps.. Recheck them.

Do you know anyone near you that plays Guild Wars 2 that can look over your maps with you? Sometimes a different person will see things another misses.

If they change all ascended to have switchable stats, which they may at some point, then having legendary for that reason won’t be a consideration.

HoD server has been trying to do Teq at reset every day. They get a good sized group and organize but they are failing each day. Lack of dps? Wrong tactics? Group is too small? Idk. Maybe not enough people as it never gets soft capped. It’s hard to convince people to try continue trying day after day once they’ve done it a few days in a row and get nowhere near a win.

The cases I’ve read where people selected the wrong server, they still had to wait 7 days.

They do ask that you allow them 3 days to work on your problem. You should be aware that they get thousands of tickets a day and yours is on line with all the others. You just need to have patience.

Why in the world is this supposed to be a better system? It’s like the difference between trying to sell your wares by going door to door versus being able to reach the whole world by selling from eBay. Sure, chat is populated. But it’s with spam messages, not with conversations between people.

I’d like to think he was referring more to the way Ultima Online had it set up, where you set up vendors and people would just browse through them, using the same menus that the NPC vendors do (except you make & sell your OWN items on them).

Now THAT was a vendor system. People would operate their own little merchant shops, selling anything & everything. I’ve never seen another MMO even come close to the customizability of the UO vendor system.

Well that could be interesting. However if it’s crafted items it would need a far more flexible crafting system than what this game has or is likely to have. And if it’s just drops they are selling then they are still are better off selling through the trading post. It sounds to me it would require a complete revamp of crafting and drops to make if viable.

IMO it sounds likely that you, a human being, made a mistake once after sending money in the mail many times. If you do it a lot you are bound to make a mistake eventually. This seems a lot more plausible than a bug existing in the mail framework which has never been discovered by anybody until now.

Sucks, but it happens. Something that anet SHOULD do is require confirmation whenever you are going to send more than a gold in the mail. Just a little popup (or 2) that say “ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO SEND x% OF YOUR TOTAL GOLD?”

There was another thread last week or so where someone was all angry because he deleted a character that had a lot of armor skins in inventory. He wanted to know WHY wasn’t there some sort of warning.

The answer he got, the actual words from the delete panel:
Deleting a character will permanently destroy any items in that character’s inventory as well as any character-based unlocks associated with that character.
If you are certain you wish to delete “[Character Name],” type the name below and click “Delete.”

They can put in warnings and confirmations. That doesn’t mean people will read them

You never said how long you’ve been waiting. If it’s been over 24 hours with no reply then check your spam and junk folders. It may be in there.

its just weird that they wont accept my name as a proof of ownership. I believe you can’t change your first and last name after you register your account. I was giving them a copy of my driver’s license and they wont accept it and told me that any more replies would be ignored.

So I was afraid that my recent ticket will be ignored. They ignored the new ticket I created yesterday. They first ticket I sent got a reply really quick so it just really bothers me.

Well, the drivers license doesn’t prove ownership. Someone, like a roommate, could get your DL and use it if it did. They have to go by the card information and the information that is sent to the purchaser’s email (order number and serial number).

Give them 24 hours for the first reply back. Check your junk and spam mail. If after 24 hours and no reply then update your ticket. If after 3 days and no reply you can post your ticket number in the thread for tickets three days and older.

I think it’s a good idea IF they remain true to the original armors and also make sure the shoulders aren’t scaled ridiculously large.

This game has a problem with the scaling of the shoulders on many of the armors, especially on Norns, Charr and Sylvari.

You said you didn’t have the CD key. Do you have the credit card information and/or the order ID?

Like I said, Gaile has repeatedly said that the key is not required and they can prove ownership by other means.

If someone from China logged in on your account then that’s why it was suspended.

Did you by chance get a phishing email and give them information? If you did then they might have the same information proving ownership that you do which might be why support can’t tell who the owner is.

You aren’t required to have the key. They can prove ownership of an account with other information. From what you have said here, it sounds like there is a problem with determining ownership. Maybe someone else is claiming to be the owner. If it says your account is suspended then there are problems besides just logging in.

You need to contact support again, update your original ticket, and find out why it was suspended and go from there.

Well the ummmm brightly decorated gentleman in the front is wearing Guild Wars 1 armor (Profane). Imo that armor is an argument against bringing them over unless they can be true to the original.

I always hated “toon”

Since the first online game I have played was Guild Wars (1), I always referred them to “char” or “character” if I’m not lazy.

I always took it as a sign when someone said “toon” they either came from WoW or a WoW clone

I use toon a lot and I’ve never played WoW or a clone, only Guild Wars 1 and 2 with some single player games.

I suspect it indicates more the level of involvement that people have with the characters. Some people are heavy into immersion and role playing. Others, like me, are not. In fact I had never even heard of the concept of role playing until right before the start of Guild Wars 2 where I came across a thread discussing it. It was a totally foreign concept to me.

When I play I frequently shift between characters. To me they are more like outfits with specified skills attached. They don’t have a back history and any interactions with the game is me interacting, not them. So the word ‘Toon’ fits as they are not complete characters to me but rather more like shells.

For a while there after launch the email system had an amusing little bug where it would randomly select someone standing near you and change the account name from what you had already selected to theirs. I emailed off some mats to someone standing near me like that. I had chosen a guild members name from the guild list but it deselected him and put the nearby random stranger’s account name in while I was putting the mats into the email. Fortunately he was nice enough to send them back.

I’m hoping they put in a new map that has giants as a regular mob. So far I’ve got 22 killed, with the last one about 6 months ago.

Yeah, scrolling through my character select shows one normal sized character after another. Then I get to my Charr and she fills up the screen. She is way bigger than any others, including my Norns, who are normal sized there. It’s such a big difference that it’s obviously a glitch.

I agree with you Talonblaze. Mistakes do happen and even with a confirmation box it will still happen. Like I said I would own up if it was my mistake and humbly ask if I could get it back, if not mistakes happen and it would be my own fault. Just wish I could check cause I still think I sent silver and not gold.

The problem is, how can support get it back? There is only one of two ways.

One is to take it away from the other player. They can’t do that. For one he may no longer have it. For another, they can’t just go into accounts and take items or gold away from them based on something that another player claims to have happened. That player would be outraged if they did that and who could blame them. Their policy is that anything sent through the mail is a gift and is not refundable.

The second way is for them to make up gold out of thin air and send it to you. For one, support may not have the tools to do that. Even if they could, it’s a bad idea for support to be making up gold just because a player says he made a mistake.

Example: new exploit.
I “accidentally” mail out 1000 gold to a friend. Friend buys 1000 gold worth of whatever. Then I contact support. Oops, I made a mistake. I meant to send out 10 silver. Please send me my gold. Support says, “sure, no problem”. Makes up 1000 gold out of thin air. Sends it to me.

People also make them purely to level artificer, as they are a pretty cheap way to go, resulting in a LOT more supply than demand.

Not completely pointless. If you use them mostly for leveling (or getting some extra SP for use in the Forge), they are a very cheap XP booster… At least, that’s what I am using them for….

I doubt there is any problem with your account. The increased numbers of messages from gold sellers has been noted by many. As you have already pointed out they all have the same final statement Hace a good day! which indicates they are all from the same site.

All you can do is report them. I’ve friended a few of them to see where they are and how long the accounts remain active. The accounts only last a couple of days before they go inactive so the reports do work.

It’s probably short for the word cartoon but I doubt there was a formal beginning. People have to call them something. Avatar could be a possibility, but it’s not a word that a lot of people knew back then. The other would be char, short for character. Maybe because the original characters back then were cartoonish especially in the oldest games before wow, and it fit.

If they are truly forcing you to change your password, and this is the first time I’ve heard of it, just tack on a 1 to your old EPIC password. Easy to remember and your account security isn’t compromised.

As DavidSev said, you will need to contact support. I gather from previous posts that there is a cutoff time for allowing these types of refunds and if memory serves me, it’s not a very long period of time. So whether or not you get a refund will depend on if you meet the requirements.

New guild members will not be able to access the guild vault for 72 hours after joining the guild, in order to prevent instances of Real Money Trading (RMT)

As long as the 3 days are up and as long as they have the proper permissions then someone should be able to remove items from the account and mail them to you, as long as it’s not a new account. Those have their own restrictions.

Another possibility. Buy a second account and place it on the old server. Make it a guild leader also. There are restrictions on new accounts on how much gold and items they can email however. Those restrictions are lifted as the account is played.

I have 11,500 AP and I wish I could hide it because it don’t mean squat. I’m a very casual player who rarely does dungeons. I have about 8 paths done on dungeon completion and may not do a dungeon in a month’s time, which means I’m clueless on what the mechanics are and depend on my guildies to tell me what to do and where to go. With my high AP I hate to pug as people will see it and think I know what to do in the dungeon. :/

Blocking someone doesn’t hide anything. Setting Invisible mode does.

Actually not true. If you enable ‘game messages’ it will tell you in chat when someone on your friend list logs in and out, regardless if they have chosen invisible or not. And, iirc, if you check your friends list it will still tell you what map they are in and it will update when they change maps.

When chat tells you if someone has logged on, it tells you when they are at the character selection screen and before they have a chance to choose the option to be invisible.

Currently all guilds, their influence and upgrades including the guild banks, are tied to the server they are created on. If you switch to another server you lose all this unless you switch back.

No date has been given for these changes and contacting support will not help. There is nothing they can do about it. Currently there is only 2 things you can do. One is to move back to the old server. The other is to have a trusted person who is a guild member on the old server remove the items from the bank and email them to you.

Which is a little vague but I assume it means if you are using, for example, greatsword:axe/axe, where the greatsword had bloodlust and then switch to Longbow:axe/axe where the Longbow doesn’t have bloodlust, if you do that you will lose your bloodlust stack.

Mixed professions. The first thing I would do is make mine secondary thieves on everything as I find Heartseeker and Shadow Refuge too useful.

You might be trying to log on with the wrong information. Since you can get on the forum, your account is still active.

Remember it’s email and password, just like logging onto the forum. SONNET.9128 is your display name, not your account name.

They need alliances like Guild Wars 1 with alliance chat. There are multiple advantages to this. Populating chat, friends in different guilds can chat easily. Guild missions would be easier to do for the smaller guilds if they could call in alliance members to rep and help out. Easier to get help for skill points guarded by champs, etc.

Well it wouldn’t hurt my feelings if they did reduce it to 2 scraps per bolt. I refused to make any ascended armor after looking at the costs and the tiny benefits. It’s just from reading the forum and how everyone responds when something they have spent gold on is made cheaper. Immediately there are numerous posts asking for refunds either ingame or actual real money refunds and general upset among the people who are finished buying the whatever is the current topic.

I said it was probably too late because ANet probably won’t want to rock the boat after the nerfs to costumes, etc.

What they are obviously doing is, Zomorros is holding back on the precursors and slipping some to Evon to sell on the trading post. He is the one undercutting everyone else. If Kiel comes in, she will stop that little racket.
