For 1 silver you can open up a personal guild and then spend influence to get storage slots. You can buy influence from a vendor or farm them yourself. Iirc, 8 gold will buy you enough influence for the 50 slot storage. You can’t put in soul/account bound items but it can hold anything else. Some people also like to separate the gold they have from the bank so they aren’t tempted to buy things. It can be used for that also.

One warning though. If your account is ever hacked and they steal from your personal guild storage you will not get any of it back. Only accounts are eligible to be restored.

Astral Projections.7320

Yeah, 250 skill points. That’s an awfully big favor to be asking. That’s a lot of leveling past where you are finish using up your skill points on getting utility skills. And skill points have a monetary value since they can be used in the mystic forge to make items.

If someone does do this they will probably charge you for them. The problem is of course that you have to trust that they will give you back the completed item.

I personally suggest you wait. Run the Frostgorge champ train a few times a day every day. That’s a good way to get the scrolls. It will take a while but it’s a sure thing.

Until you can get it, may I suggest the Peacemaker focus. When being held it has a purple glow. It’s a reasonable substitute for the Anomaly and it’s 63k karma. Sold by the Asuran cultural weapon seller in Rata Sum. The picture here doesn’t show the full glow. It’s more than what this picture shows.

Too late for this imo. The majority of people who were going to make ascended armor have already done so and already paid for or used up their stocks of silk and damask. If they decrease it now, all those people will be unhappy about it and consider it very unfair that latecomers get a great price break and reduced costs that they didn’t get.

When there was the previous problem with the ectos I, a casual salvager, certainly never noticed it. That suggests to me the problem wasn’t to the level where people were getting extremely reduced amounts but that the reduction was a small fractional decrease of the 0.85 number. That it was small enough that in order to be noticed, the person had to be both salvaging high numbers and keeping records. And it took a number of people salvaging large amounts and reporting it to get ANet to check it.

When ANet finally tested it, it took a couple of days for them to come back with the results and calculations and agree there was a problem with the numbers.

This is why threads where someone says, “I salvaged a handful of rares and didn’t get enough ectos” is not taken seriously. If there is a problem with ecto salvaging the reduction will small and not visible unless the sample size is very large.

“In the system I would propose, the Follower character (one extra only) would auto-follow, and only use autoattack, the same as NPCs. You would be able to select which of the Follower’s skills would be its autoattack. There would be a toggle settable for which name was used during chat. To swap characters, you would have to return to character select screen and assign your Leader and Follower.”[/quote]

Which sounds to me like it could be banned for botting as it would be performing actions without you directly controlling it. If the computer program is controlling it and making it use it’s skills and move around, then isn’t this botting? Your control of it is one step removed, not direct.

I don’t know why this happening, i just a second copy with different email and it’s not letting me login too. It’s been three days. I’ve sent numerous support tickets and still not response from Anet. What a fail.

Sorry you guys are having problems.

A few points. Multiple tickets slow down supports response to you. Each new ticket is read but they want only one ticket so the extras are closed down. It’s best if you update the first one only. Go ahead and close down the others.

If you aren’t getting the response emails from support, check your spam and junk folders. They may be in there. Read this thread here for more information about missing emails.

If you still can’t find your emails after this you can post your ticket number in this thread for tickets 3 days and older.

If anyone is still downloading, you have to finish the complete download before you can log in.

And one final thing, sometimes people are confused by the term Account Name. The login for the game is your email and password.

Good luck.

I’m seeing a lot of fancy math and reading a lot of fancy words but what I’m not seeing is a coherent justification as to why these people deserve to have their prices protected against undercutting. The reasons so far essentially add up to I WANT and IT’S NOT FAIR. That’s not a sound reason to reshape how the TP is set up and alter the economics of the game to give yourself special advantages.

You might as well get used to it. In real life people will undercut you and you won’t be able to go on a forum and post about how it should be different and how it should be set up so you won’t lose money (but they do) unless you are a lobbyist for a corporation trying to get a good deal for your company at the expense of others.

Essentially that’s the impression I’m getting. People lobbying for special deals for themselves.

I had 2 Guild Wars 1 accounts. I ran them on 2 separate computers and logged in simultaneously like that. One was my main account and the other was primarily storage, especially for my characters in Presearing (the starting part of Prophesies) as that area had no access to storage.

If you use one for storage you will be fine. If you try to play them simultaneously using a macro program then you need to be very careful and research ANet’s rules as it would be easy to get your accounts banned for botting.

The reason they stop transferees from going into WvW is because there were people who would transfer to the opposing side in the middle of a matchup then deliberately sabotage that server by tying up supply, spying, etc…

It would have been useful if ANet had stated their reasons for the cap instead of just the flat pronouncement. Perhaps they could reconsider and put in a soft cap where people can continue to earn AP points but only the 5 points a day needed to gain the daily. This would allow people to continue to progress but limit the ones who feel compelled to get all the points.

The proposals I’ve read so far seem to be a plea for a type of government controlled trade restrictions, where the government (ANet) actively restricts trade (stops people from undercutting at will) in order to protect a privileged group (people who have listed earlier than others). The people who are harmed by this price protections are

a) the people who wish to list later for a cheaper price (they have to list at a lower price than they would prefer, therefore taking a loss) or
b) match the higher price (therefore not selling as fast as they wanted) in spite of wishing to sell lower because they don’t want to sell at the mandated lower price.
The other people who are harmed are
c) the buyers who don’t get the sales from group b) because they listed at the higher price.

What I haven’t seen is a reasonable argument saying why the privileged group (the earliest sellers) deserves a better price protection from the government (ANet) and a better deal for their goods (higher prices and faster sales) than the later sellers and the buyers.

History has consistently shown that government imposed trade restrictions increase prices, making goods more expensive and economies more rigid. The arguments I’ve seen here are from people who are upset that their goods are not selling at the prices they want at the speed they want but that is never a good reason for trade restrictions.

Is it? If you walked into a store and tried to buy something for $90 dollars and they refused and told you it had to be the $100 dollar item even though the absolutely identical $90 one was sitting on the shelf, you would walk away with the $100 one, perfectly happy?

Most people wouldn’t you know.

Following the idea of this topic a more appropriate price difference would be at most a dollar difference on a $100 product. I would argue most consumers would neither be aware of nor care about the difference between $100 vs $99.50 vs $99

If you actually think that consumers are not aware of nor care about even a dollar difference then I suggest you try this in a retail setting. When ringing up someone, tell them that they will be paying a dollar more than listed price. Go ahead and do that then report back what happens. I suspect you will have a learning experience.

From my experience in retail, people are unamused by being charged more than the listed price and the amount does not matter. The words theft and crook come up pretty quick when people think they are being overcharged.

Basing arguments on potential future stuff is usually not a good idea though. We have no information about if there will be additional chests and thus we can’t base our arguments around the fact that there might be.

Basing your argument on only what you can see at the current time strikes me as somewhat short sighted though. It assumes that there will be no progression past the current stopping point. That once people reach the end of the current set of chests that ANet won’t make more to entice people to log in daily.

ANet very much wants people to log in daily. Not only does the concurrency numbers matter to them but people who aren’t logging in are people who aren’t buying from the gem store. They leave vacant spots in their guilds and leave the maps empty. Which discourages other people from logging in.

So I think that ANet has a keen interest in the daily logins, sufficient interest to continue making achievement chests.

Yes I know but that’s not the point. What I’m saying is, once I have reached that cap then it will take me longer each time to get each succeeding achievement chest. I might be only getting 6 to 8 points a day but that’s 180 to 240 points a month out of the 500 points needed for each chest. It’s going to take that much longer to reach each set of 500 points. If the reason for the achievement points is to work towards the rewards and to reward you for playing the game and logging on each day then the cap is counterproductive.

It is however quite unlikely that you would not have already gotten (or at least close) to the last available chest by the time you cap out on your dailies.

I currently have 11671 AP. Out of those 3511 comes from daily and 1139 comes from monthly.
That means that the vast majority of the points (7021) comes from other sources, which would suggest that I will most likely get more than enough points for the highest chest before I cap my dailies or monthlies.

You are assuming that there will be no further achievement chests, I am assuming they will continue to make them, that there will be more chests with even more exclusive skins inside them as well as the increased luck, karma and gold percents.

If you are buying immediately, they price isn’t a priority. You will buy an item that’s been lumped into the “cheapest” bin, a bin that is “subjectively” the same price.

I’m still seeing this:

“So how about this, you bin closely priced items and if that bin is the current best price then execute orders from that bin as a FIFO. You can even set bin size in a non linear fashion relative to price. This way you don’t directly restrict players to a minimum difference in order price but since all items within the bin amount from the best price are lumped together and then ordered FIFO wise you could have a slightly higher priced item being sold first because it staked out that price range first.

In other words, the slightly higher price (the $100 item) is sold before the lesser priced item (the $90 item) regardless of what the customer wants. The customer is going to want to buy the $90 item but is forced to buy the $100 item because it’s in the same price bin and has been there longer.

I had this same idea and think it would be a fair solution.

Is it? If you walked into a store and tried to buy something for $90 dollars and they refused and told you it had to be the $100 dollar item even though the absolutely identical $90 one was sitting on the shelf, you would walk away with the $100 one, perfectly happy?

I’m all for removing the TP and letting us EARN our goods while PLAYING THE GAME, get rid of the gem store too.

As I told another respondant GW1 did/does just fine for the past 7 years without a TP and gem store and with 10,000% better looking fully stat’ed armor/weapons(not lame skins) that you ACTUALLY EARNED just by playing the game, no RIPP-OFF TP and GEM STORE.

I played Guild Wars 1 for 4 years and I can say not having a TP was a major pain.

I still have storage packed full of green (highest quality) gear I never sold because the main way to sell was to stand in Kamadon and repeatedly spam WTS X item for Y plat. Over and over and over again. And then the possible buyer had to be in the exact same map you were at the exact same time and had to be paying attention to trade chat at the same time.

Yes you could earn your goods by playing. But selling the excess or the unneeded was difficult. There were undoubtably buyers for my Totem axe or my Mallyx bow but I never found them and my desire to stand in one spot spamming WTS was not great. Plus trying to figure out the current sale prices, bleh.

Spamming messages in Spamadon, a pain. Putting items in the trading post and walking away, Priceless.

By the way, Guild Wars 1 has their version of the gem store. You could buy exclusive ingame content that people who didn’t buy couldn’t play, access to skills without playing the game and Mercenaries so you could play without grouping up with other players.

And I couldn’t care less about how many points I have. Why should I and others like me have to be capped (and make my progress towards the next set of rewards slowed) because some people think it’s a race or worry about losing out forever or those who fret about some leaderboard.

You can currently get chests as far up as 24,500 AP. With the cap on dailies and monthlies you will be able to get 15 000 of those points from doing only dailies and monthlies.
And dailies and monthlies are far from the main source of APs in this game.

Astral Projections.7320

The whole LIFO/FIFO argument in reference to the TP is simply an incorrect way to look at how business is done on the TP. The TP’s underlying principle is best price goes first. There is no “queue” in terms of temporal order of posting. And from the mechanics it’s all rather objective what best price is and that alone determines which order is executed first.

Now when a player posts and order, they can trade coin for an advantage that their order is executed sooner than later if at all. However when we are talking high end items with large price tags, the current minimum difference of 1c is an insignificant trade off for an advantage in trade position. I think that’s the gist of the argument.

So how about this, you bin closely priced items and if that bin is the current best price then execute orders from that bin as a FIFO. You can even set bin size in a non linear fashion relative to price. This way you don’t directly restrict players to a minimum difference in order price but since all items within the bin amount from the best price are lumped together and then ordered FIFO wise you could have a slightly higher priced item being sold first because it staked out that price range first.

It’s a wacky notion but those suggesting a minimum do have a point. On higher valued items the trade of coin for immediacy becomes extremely cheap, to the point of being meaningless.

I can’t see your proposal working.

What if you went to a shop and tried to buy something on consignment at a certain price and were told you couldn’t buy it at that price. That there were other identical items that had been sitting in the shop longer, were more expensive and you had to buy one of them instead. Would you think that system was fair and made sense?

You pick up an item selling for $90 and take it to the register. The clerk there takes it from you and says, “sorry, you have to buy this one for $100 because it’s been sitting in the shop longer. It’s only fair to that person who is trying to sell it. He got undercut several times and now he has the most expensive one in that price grouping. Once all the more expensive ones are sold that have been sitting here longer, then we can sell the one that is sitting on our shelves priced at $90”

That’s the only explanation I can think of. There was a long thread about this.

The ONLY problem with your argument is… that:

1. You can buy gems with in game Gold.

and

2. Many of the new games that have a subscription also have a cash shop. And that is a Shop where the Only way to buy items is with cash, NOT gems which can then be purchased with in game gold.

Is there a temptation for some players to NOT be patient, earn the Gold, buy the gems, and instead use cash? Of course there is, but is that Anet’s fault? How hard is it to simply play for free… save up your gold, buy gems… and have whatever it is that someone that uses cash to buy gems can also buy?

Name ONE item that can be bought for cash that cannot also be bought with in game Gold? well the ONLY thing you Buy with cash..is gems… and you can also buy gems… with GOLD.

Last time i checked… the amount of gems you can by with Gold…varies based on demand.

TESO has a subscription fee…and a cash shop.
WoW has a subscription fee…. and a cash shop.

it seems to me that if you were discussing " MMO’s that ONLY have a subscription… compared to MMO’s that have a cash shop" you might have a point.

The problem is, that in today’s market, it’s " MMO’s that charge a subscription and also have a cash shop… vs… gw2…. No subscription + Gem store, where you can play for free if you wish…. and buy gems with in game gold…if you wish."

The problem as I see i is ..most people do not play the game for free out of their own desire to have things NOW…so will spend cash…but..NO one is forcing them to use cash… they can play for free…. but that requires…patience. Something which most of today MMO’ players seem to lack.

How much time would it take you in game to earn enough gold to to buy 800 gems? Why would I grind all that gold when I can work at my job for a fraction of an hour, buy what I want, and spend the time I would’ve spent grinding for gold doing whatever I found fun.

WoW has a cash shop, yes. But that cash shop only a few mounts, a few pets and dumb looking transmog helms that everyone mocks if you dare show your face in game with one of them on.

Meanwhile, I can get hundreds of mounts and pets in game.

Just out of curiosity I googled the WoW site, found a link for the shop and then found these comments: in this site here

“I honestly think its crap that a game that we already pay monthly for has stuff like a ingame shop. Usually this is the type of stuff you see in games without some sort of sub. Though there is nothing that says they cannot do this, it just sort of puts a bitter taste in your mouth when you have microtransactions in a game that you already pay monthly for. There should be some sort of way to obtain these items without having to put forward real money”.

“I agree, it’s a little crap to have to pay real money for something that is in a game not real life and you are already paying monthly for it.”

“I agree I wish they would make these mounts obtainable in game through achievements or such idk anything besides the ingame shop”

I guess someone is going to be unhappy no matter what the method of payment is and what is in the cash shop.

Guild Bank Robbed

Sorry, nothing you can do. While accounts can be rolled back to recover lost characters, gold and items, guild banks cannot. They are not tied to any account and if anything is stolen from them, it’s gone for good. Support either can not or will not help in this case.

For her particular case, if she hasn’t heard from support about her hacked account and still needs it returned or needs an account rollback still, she should check her junk and spam messages. Sometimes support emails go in there. If she can’t find her messages she can post her ticket number in this thread here or someone can post for her there if she doesn’t have access to the forum.

Town clothes in combat?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Astral Projections.7320

Yes, April 15th patch.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-wardrobe-system/
Town Clothes sold through the gem store as outfits, such as the Pirate Captain’s Outfit, will be usable as a single outfit skin through the Wardrobe. Purchasing an outfit will unlock it for all characters on your account to use. Outfits will replace the look of equipped armors, are equipped in a separate appearance slot, and do not require Transmutation Charges to use. Single items, such as the Fuzzy Hats and Scarlet’s Spaulders, will be unlocked for your entire account and usable with any armor weight.

However:
“Some basic clothing items that are no longer available for purchase will be converted into endless tonics”.
(Some restrictions do apply)

Uh huh.

You were just “concerned” because you weren’t invited to the party.

Not to mention how folks would “bid” for something and then when it was time to pay up they either 1) didn’t have the amount they bid 2) would try to renegotiate or 3) decide they didn’t want it after all.

I remember finally getting a buyer for something after standing in Spamadon for ages advertising it. We settle on a price then he tried to short me by 10k plat. His excuse, he didn’t have the plat to buy it but he wanted it so he tried to short me the plat and hoped I wouldn’t notice.

Q: Backpiece skins in the wardrobe?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Astral Projections.7320

I would think its part of the wardrobe from what they said concerning the Spinal Blade backpack.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-wardrobe-system/
If you have an item that has gone through skin progression, like a legendary weapon or one of the Spinal Blade backpacks from the “Escape from Lion’s Arch” and “Battle for Lion’s Arch” releases, you will unlock all of the skins in that direct line of progression. That means that if you made Twilight, you will have access to both the Twilight and Dusk skins across your entire account. If you’ve created the Dynamic Tempered Spinal Blades, you’ll unlock that skin and all previous Spinal Blade skins.”

I’m assuming since you are posting that he can’t access this page to make a ticket here. If he can he goes to the top of this page-Support, then top of the page-Submit a request. From there he can make a ticket. If he can’t then he can email them at Support@guildwars2.com to start a ticket that way.

Contacting them directly would be better for him to get this resolved.

What's the biggest mistake you've ever done?

Astral Projections.7320

So far, my worst, and most amusing mistake…..was just the other night in WvW. I was claiming a tower late at night on my ranger, when a lone enemy waltzed up the stairs, and I engaged him. After a few seconds of trading blows/shots/etc., he knocked me back and stunned me….I broke the stun, and without thinking where I was on the small tower platform took my short bow and fired the shot that does an evade roll back when you shoot(can’t remember the name of the shot). Well, I rolled back and off the tower, tumbling over and over again down through the outer scaffolding that was against the tower…..with my character letting out ‘oofs’ all the way down. Fortunately, I had the mud special that breaks your fall, and I barely survived the 5+ story fall……lol. I laughed and laughed at what I had just done.(It doesn’t take much to amuse me….lol). After doing such a stupid thing…….fortunately, as I was falling, a small group of friendlies close by dusted the guy on top of the tower, and I still got some credit for the kill. I can just imagine what my enemy thought as I tumbled backwards off that tower(“what a moron!”) just before he got finished off by the small group of friendlies.

My wife got a good laugh out of it, too…..as she has done the same with her elementalist more than once….lol.

LOL… good one!

I had a similar experience in that my group and I took a tower, and at the last second of killing the champ, I used my sword “rush” skill (warrior), but since the champ had just died, I literally ran off the side of the tower to my death. I laughed, and a guildie was quick to point out he saw the whole thing I hope he had a good laugh too.

I’ve done that on my thief. I was using pistol/pistol a lot to spam skill 3 (unload). Switched to shortbow, hit skill 3 and leaped backwards off a cliff and died.

No way to get them back at this point. Contacting support is not coming to change things. They either won’t or can’t undo player decisions of this sort. And the mystic toilet doesn’t have a recipe for this. Your best bet is to hope they sell these minis again one day and buy them when they do.

I may bring you a bad news, and i hope i am wrong.

[Please note that skins or partials skins that you previously purchased but which you no longer possess will not be unlocked on your account.] copy and paste from feature note.

You’re wrong:)

How does Wardrobe affect my Gem Store purchases?

If any of your characters are wearing or own any piece of an armor set (such as the Profane armor set or the Magitech armor set), all of the remaining pieces will be unlocked in your Wardrobe in addition to any pieces currently on your character or in your inventory.

By “partial skins” they mean 1-item skins like gloves or mantles.

Did you see this line in your copy and paste paragraph?
{ in addition to any pieces currently on your character or in your inventory}

to my understanding, only pieces on your character or in your inventory will be converted. But man, i hope i am wrong.

If any of your characters are wearing or own any piece of an armor set (such as the Profane armor set or the Magitech armor set), all of the remaining pieces will be unlocked in your Wardrobe in addition to any pieces currently on your character or in your inventory.”

It seems pretty clear to me. If you are wearing or own any piece of an armor set then the remaining pieces will be unlocked also, even if you deleted them.

In other words, in addition to the pieces you own you will also get the pieces you deleted.
