Anyway, even now it still does require winning a lot of matches, with more than one class, not merely afking as some people in this thread claim.

In every PvP game I know it is easily possible to win games while being afk if you belong to the real bottom of the ladder.

In my experience, as soon as someone starts afking, his side usually gives up and they lose, so it’s not exactly a good winning strategy.

Elite specs vs core specs

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Astralporing.1957

Astralporing.1957

You can have good ele builds without fire or air. I gave you examples of ones (which you promptly ignored).

That’s a different role (Healer role) of course it won’t use Fire, there was no reason to comment on that.

You kept mentioning that all the ele builds use fire, so it seemed as if you were unaware that there are other builds than just PvE dps ones. Or as if they didn’t fit your thesis, so you ignored them.

And that trying to recreate those builds without elite spec traitlines will be either flat out impossible, or be a significant nerf to that build within its role.

Of course, but it’s equally impossible to re-create those builds without their non-elite specs.

Yes. But again, you seem to ignore the fact, that there are roles that use different core traitlines. Not all of them use fire and air. And yet, all of them do use Tempest.

There are some builds where Elite specs actually define them (Aurancer healer, Chronomancer, Druid, Herald) Where the elite spec is the actual “master” trait line, in other builds, the core specs are what define the build and the elite spec is the “best third option”.

Yes. And in such a case, they are almost uniformly the best third option. Because, when you create a specialized build, and you’d need at most 2 traitlines to define that specialization, you’d almost always use the traitline that supports this very role, over one that gives you bonuses for things that lie outside that role.

It’s simple, finding use for the under-used core specializations is more important than nerfing Elite specs in order to make those under-used core specs look better.

That would require completely redoing those core lines to the point where they wouldn’t be role-defining anymore.

If, for example, you change Fire into a traitline that will benefit all the roles, it will no longer be the dps traitline (because, to gain something you need to lose something).

Buffing the under-performing trait lines on their respective “build” can open up builds. Like, if there is no condi build for a profession and there is a trait line that offers better condition damage (that nobody uses) buff that trait line so the condi damage build is competitive.

We can’t do that. Why? Because that build would also be enhanced by going elite spec. Currently almost no core traitline is designed to be the third one (the one that enhances a build, instead of shaping it). You can buff them, but that will only make them more desirable as the main traitlines. And then use the elite in the third slot, and make that just buffed build even stronger.

The only way to bring core builds up to par is to make sure that every class has one “general purpose” traitline designed in similar way as Elites are now (In some cases, such traitlines do already exist, they are just way too weak compared to elite ones – in case of Ele, that would be Arcane). And that this traitline and elite one must be mutually exclusive. And you’d need either uncouple skills and weapon from elite specs, or make a similar attached option (weapon and skill type) unique to that traitline.
In short, you’d need to make Core Elite Specs.

There must be a meaningful choice in picking elite. Currently there is none – you gain a lot by sacrificing almost nothing. That (again) is why elite specs are OP compared to core. They offer a straight upgrade to the class, against what was originally promised.

At least the Ascension in S1-S4 was challenging to get (pre S5, when it was also under a time limit)

It was never truly at a time limit. We knew from the beginning that there would be a way to get it later. The only reason why people did hurry was because it was not known how exactly the acquisition method would change.
Granted, knowing Anet, trying to get the backpack within one league year was a reasonable decision. I doubt anyone expected it to become easier to obtain.

Anyway, even now it still does require winning a lot of matches, with more than one class, not merely afking as some people in this thread claim.

Actually, there was a PTR/Community-testing period for the Desert Borderlands.

It can only be called PTR/Testing if there’s an actual testing involved (as in: devs are interested in result of said testing and those results have a chance of impacting the final version). In this case the community got shown something that was so advanced that devs weren’t interested in any feedback that might have suggested any more major change in design.
It wasn’t testing. It was a PR event.

But back to OP: i don’t generally play PvP because i’m not a competitive person, and also i no longer have reaction time and manual control good enough for it.
Additionally, I farmed a bit the reward tracks in sPvP earlier on a more casual basis, but the pressure during the seasons 1-4 (where the end reward seemed to be time-limited, and achievement requirements were a bit above casual level of play) made me burn out. At this moment i just can’t play more than one game without needing to turn off GW2 right after and chill out for a long time. Maybe if the past seasons were more like the current one it would have been better, but they weren’t.

TL/DR: i don’t play in competitive nvironment because i don’t really find that competitiveness fun. Add any sort of pressure to win, and from not so fun it turns very fast into extreme unfun territory.

Yeah, it seems you are in the initial HoT story instance, while being on the next step already. Just waypoint out of instance to any other map (if you have trouble with this for some reason, go pvp or wvw, then use the LA portal), then waypoint back to SW and walk through the portal to Verdant Brink normally.

It’s possible you have VB waypoint unlocked already, in which case you will be able to waypoint straight there without needing to walk through SW again

Elite specs vs core specs

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Astralporing.1957

Astralporing.1957

Every single ele build that does not include tempest traitline can be made stronger within the same role by exchanging the least important traitline for elite one.

Exactly what I’m saying. You are exchanging the least important spec for an elite one, while the important specs are still more powerful than the elite specs themselves.

No. They are not more powerful. They’re just build-defining. You can have good ele builds without fire or air. I gave you examples of ones (which you promptly ignored). All those builds however, in their best form, include Tempest traitline.

You can say whatever you want about core traitlines being better, but that still won’t change the fact that almost all meta builds in the game currently (with maybe 2-3 exceptions) are elite spec builds. And that trying to recreate those builds without elite spec traitlines will be either flat out impossible, or be a significant nerf to that build within its role.

Yes, that’s partly due to the fact that originally the traits weren’t designed around the idea of having full 3 traitlines, but that’s also because elite traitlines were designed very differently than the core ones. While core traitlines were made to enhance a specific role, elites were meant to enhance the class as a whole. That’s why they are the best as the third pick. And that’s why the elite spec builds (as opposed to elite traitlines) are OP compared to the core ones.

How does everyone feel about Sylvari now?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Astralporing.1957

All the mordrem mean is that sylvari, same as every other race, are susceptible to corruption.

It’s not like that. Sylvari are not like say, quaggans, that can fall to some dragon’s corruption. They are like Destroyers. The whole race created to be minions for a specific dragon.
Some of those minions rebelled, but there will always be a suspicion there. And the sylvari leadership (the Pale Tree) is the most suspicious of all, since she did allow the whole pact fleet to be sunk by wittholding important informations.
That one part can’t really be glossed over. She could have prevented a lot of deaths had she only decided to speak up. She preferred to stay silent.

Elite specs vs core specs

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Astralporing.1957

Astralporing.1957

If the same 2 (or 1 in some cases) core trait lines are chosen by every build of a particular profession then aren’t those trait lines more problematic than the elite specs?

Are they? To get back to the example you set, auramancer healer is water, air, tempest. No fire. PvP ele builds don’t usually include fire as well (but they definitely include tempest).

That’s what I’m trying to say here, saying that Tempest is a problem because it’s mandatory and OP is missing how mandatory and OP Fire and Air trait lines are.

Except they aren’t.

Also, you are still missing the point. Yes, it’s clear that, say, every fresh-air based ele build will need to include Air, but that completely ignores the part where it becomes so strong only because of Overload Air. It’s synergy that makes the elite traitlines so strong. It’s not the traitlines themselves that are so OP compared to other traitlines, it’s the builds based around these traitlines that are OP compared to other builds.

Every single ele build that does not include tempest traitline can be made stronger within the same role by exchanging the least important traitline for elite one.

This is mostly true for elite traitlines of the other classes, with the addition that some of them, on top of making previously existing roles stronger, can also define a completely new roles for the class.

There are some exceptions of course (condi ranger, for example doesn’t benefit from the druid traitline), but they are just that – exceptions. Not a norm.

How does everyone feel about Sylvari now?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Astralporing.1957

Astralporing.1957

Does anyone (apart from the PC and his team) know that she knew?

There might not be a hard proof, but the fact that sylvari were Mordremoth children is out. Even if Pale Tree were to claim ignorance, most would at least have their doubts. Many would be sure she knew, and some might even think she was a willing accomplice.
Seriously, by now even sylvari themselves might not believe she didn’t know a thing (Nightmare court is likely to gain in popularity now).

And, unfortunately, her withholding that information did cause a lot of casualties. And the rulers of other races (with the possible exception of Norns, that do not operate that way) will have a really good reason to blame her for it.
Shw could have avoided the whole mess if she only were a little bit more forthcoming. And the fact that she was somehow considered really trustworthy up until that point is only going to make the negative impact worse.

LFG Abuse -> Raid polluted with adverts

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Astralporing.1957

In what way is it against the rules? You are trying to form a group to discuss joining your guild which is a legal use of the LFG tool.

Creating a group for talking purposes is not creating it for the purpose of raiding, and as such does not belong in raid category. Besides, that very same argument was made about legendary selling ads in LFG (that it was okay, since the sellers were creating a group to talk abour selling). It got shot very fast by devs then.

And i see Seera managed to find some of the relevant quotes, that should make the situation clear.

The thing is, anet stated that using lfg to sell spots in a group is legal.

Consequently, those LFGs that do not directly sell spots, but only advertise a service in general (by, say, offering a link to a website) should likely be considered an abuse of the LFG system.
in short, any LFG message should be about getting into a group/getting players to a group, with all additional requirements (whether they are gear restrictions or monetary ones) being okay. Any LFGs that aren’t about grouping, but are merely ads are not okay.

The thing is, advertising for a certain boss kill is no different than selling a boss kill, both require setup time. The main difference being that most of the time, boss kills fill quickly with the intent of killing it ASAP, where selling runs can either be ASAP or scheduled for later.

Yep. And, while the first use is okay, the second one (“for later”) isn’t.
And guild joining advertisements were specifically mentioned at some point to be an abuse of LFG.

(just to be clear, i have absolutely no beef with raid selling. It’s just that rules are rules, and Anet did make some clear statements about LFG)

Is GW2 Worth Getting Into? (2017)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

If you’re a more recent player and enjoy the game as it currently is, then you’re unlikely to be disappointed with future content and expansions. The team at ArenaNet has made rather clear what they intend of the game — at least in terms of competitive play and high-level open world content.

That’s exactly the opposite of what i was about to say. At this moment, the game is at crossroads and its future is unclear. Perhaps the next expansion will clear the situation, but for now, the future is very much uncertain.

That doesn’t mean the game is in danger of closing however. It’s likely to last for at least some time. What is unsure is only what kind of game, and for whom, it will be.

I think it has changed, recently, with the new items being offered for Karma, and the other reasons to spend Karma.

I know I’ve gone from around 6 million Karma to just over 1 million Karma in the last couple of months.

That’s likely mostly due to the boxes from the wintersday karma vendor. I dropped like 5 mil karma on those last year (and this year) too. On the other hand, i earned way more karma between previous and last wintersday, so i am still ahead (even after including frequent purchases from pact merchants and the new areas).

If you really have no use for it, just sell them. If you think, however, that you might want one of the things they are used for somewhere in the future, better keep them. They are not going to get any cheaper, their acquisition is really slow, and they tend to be required in greater amounts, so you may end up in a situation where you’d need to buy them back, at a loss.

Warning - HoT removes Tyria Dailies

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Astralporing.1957

Astralporing.1957

…obviously some people, like the OP feel dailies must be done, ….

That wasn’t my point at all. My points were really as simple as this:

1. I didn’t pay $40 to remove things I enjoy from the game. “Expansions” should expand on the available content, not replace it (GW2 isn’t WoW after all).

2. I should NEVER log into the game and discover that I CAN’T do something I enjoy, simply because someone at the game company thought it would be cool to take that content away.

Then i have wonderful news for you. As far as dailies go, HoT didn’t go against those points.

1. The pool of dailies is expanded, not replaced.

2. HoT didn’t make you suddenly unable to do anything you could do before.

Legendary Armor

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Astralporing.1957

Astralporing.1957

It’s partly delayed because it requires the next round of raids to patch into the game. That was my understanding anyway.

If anything is getting delayed it’s the actual raid because of legendary armor. They are horrendously slow at creating armors for some reason.

That has been explained. With each armor they not only need to make sure there’s as little clipping/misjoins as possible. They also need to make sure there’s no clipping/misjoins on every combination between each new armor piece and every already existing one within the same weight category.

Which, of course, means that each next armor takes them longer to make than the previous one.

I assume, that, with legendary having animated pieces, it’s even harder.

And that’s only technical problems. There might be an additional slowdown if they decided to, for example, make a second legendary set for a different content (which, frankly, they should have done at the very beginning).

Well this is clearly a structural problem they need to solve, and actually serves as a perfect example of how inefficient they are at creating new content. It’s not an excuse.

Yes, it’s not. It’s merely an explanation.
They are slow, because their design for armor system is flawed. They should have reworked it long ago. Especially since with each new armor introduced, any rework will end up requiring more and more effort.

Yeah, those nodes were difficult to get without being able to do that. They could just add another let line or one of those short updrafts around the central platform. This way you could get around there more easily.

The only problem that i see is that they’d have to be extra careful not to make the mastery point too easy to get. From what i understand it is supposed to require gliding down from the waypoint.
Still, if they can pull it off, an easier way to get to those nodes would be appreciated.

Discussion of future Legendaries/ls3 episodes

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Astralporing.1957

Astralporing.1957

The skins for those legendaries are likely already mostly done, and basic designs were likely done long before LS got finalized. What had been stopping them from releasing those legendaries was the collections.
(now they are spreading them out most likely to extend the content and to minimize the impact on the market)

Don’t count on those thematic ties in the future. The existing 2 ones fitting to your idea is likely either a result of accident, or Anet just picking the most fitting ones from already existing list. Also, if you’re right, where is the Bloodstone Fen legendary? What part of LS does the shortbow fit? (remember, that, according to previous AMAs, mace and shortbow were almost tied for completion shortly before Mo announced cancelling the work on collection-style legendaries, and they didn’t know then which one would be first)

So, you can stop worrying. Your assumptions are almost certainly wrong.
(also, we do not know where we will be going next. Might be isles of janthir, but so far haven’t seen anything that pointed in that direction)

The most logical place to apply a gate is raids.

Nope. Considering the exclusivity and narrowness of that gate, it’s the least logical option. It’s just completely out of place compared to all the rest of the game

I ask you then, where would YOU have placed a gate for legendary armor that was not crafting with the mastery like the weapons, that could show prestige?

Prestige? sPvP tournaments probably. There’s not much of a prestige to be had in raids. They are exclusive, but not prestigious.

The only location that made sense to me was raids. Now, remember, it must be in a location that is exclusive to HoT as wether you disliked it or I liked it, which to be honest at the time I didn’t care, it was a selling point of HoT. We can’t place it in WvW, as nonHoT players do that too. Can’t just drop it in PvP for same reason. Sure they could have you grind out the metas over and over and over for a chance at the drop, but then we have things like chak eggs. Or we could have it like the new weapons, which is running around the world and then spending gold, which for more casual players is just as bad as raiding, because then you have to farm AB nonstop. Not many enjoy that. The next logical sense to me would be to tie it to raiding.

There’s a major difference between the new weapon requirements, and raiding ones. First is done through content most players are supposed to do. The second is done through content that, by design (and devs statements) was not meant for majority. HoT map completion and metas was something Anet assumed most players will be doing anyway. Raids were supposed to be a side content only for those that enjoyed that kind of thing.

It’s a new thing, they needed something to push people in that way, to play it and learn the hard content. So they put legendary armor gate there.

What they needed was to entice the players to try raids, to see whether they’ll like it. Legendary armor is not that. It’s way too heavyhanded, and requires too much grind in raids.

You can’t push people to have fun. It never works. And if you try too hard, you will only cause an opposite reaction.

Essence of Luck

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Astralporing.1957

Astralporing.1957

I’m still struggling with how a game can have Essence of Luck and Diminishing Returns (DR) at the same time. They both individually make sense but together, how do they work? Will Luck push you past DR or does DR stop Lucks effect, when and how?

They are both independent of each other.
Luck only serves to improve Magic Find, up to a certain point, and the amount of luck obtained from salvaging is not in any way affected by DR.

But, assuming you actually meant MF when you said “luck”, the answer is still very similar. The both systems sort of interact with each other, but they are independent.

MF improves basic drop chances (well, to be more precise, improves chances of getting better quality of the items dropped). The DR reduces quality of loot and drop chances, and seem to be so strong eventually, that any bonuses from MF might as well be nonexistent.

@Nikkinella: Your problem isn’t that raids are difficult or you can’t do them it’s that legendary armour is tied to raids. ANet should have made it independent of raids as now there is 0 prestige to anything in raids as it can all be bought.

Legendary weapons are tied behind WvW for the PvE-ers and tied behind PvE Map completion for the WvWers. Tying legendary armor to Raiders is a similar thing. They said legendary armor would be for those doing HoT stuff. The only logical gate to make it seem as prestigious as we want it to be is Raiding.

In case of core legendary weapons, both the pve reqs for WvW players, and WvW reqs for PvE players are a low effort ones. They encourage you to try the gamemode, but aren’t hard enough to make you keep hitting the wall with your face in case you ended up not liking that content. Raid requirements on the other hand are nothing like that. Seriously, even requirements for gamemode-specific legendaries (The Ascension and Ad Infinitum) aren’t that high – and there are two backpacks in existence, in case you really didn’t like one of the options.

i dont think you realize how long its taken them to get 1 set done. much less a new set for every game mode.

That’s the main reason why i keep asking to make this one available through other means. It’s more realistic than hoping they will make a second (or third) set.

The reason I defend the gate of raiding for armor, is that it was something to help sell HoT.

For you, maybe. For me, it almost made me not buy it.

The most logical place to apply a gate is raids.

Nope. Considering the exclusivity and narrowness of that gate, it’s the least logical option. It’s just completely out of place compared to all the rest of the game.

Saying that we, as a community, do not want to gamble while the community spends money to gamble, is essentially a waste. Warning - HoT removes Tyria Dailies

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Astralporing.1957

Astralporing.1957

Astralporing isn’t wrong. The HoT ones don’t remove any of the Core Tyria ones. They just add to the pool of possible dailies.

And there are 2 sets of possible dailies: one for those with HoT and one for those without HoT.

According to the wiki, today, if you own HoT, you get Auric Basin events and the other three from Core Tyria. I have verified this.

However, if you don’t own HoT, you get Wayfarer Foothills instead. I can’t verify this. Can someone without HoT verify?

That’s true. But (what i meant, and Seera explained), having a HoT account will not prevent you from ever getting Wayfarer Foothill events daily. Nor does it prevent you from ever getting shiverpeak harvesting daily. The chance for any zone/region (including HoT ones) is the same, which means that most of the days you will see core ones, not those from expac.

If you have 18 white marbles in a box, and you add 3 black marbles to that box, if you pick one at random you will still be able to get white ones. It’s just that, from time to time, you will get a black one.

Thus, saying that adding those 3 black ones to the mix somehow removed all the white ones is simply not true.

The only slot where expac might have changed the situation significantly is the one where world bosses resided. That one box got a lot of black marbles added to it. And many of them weren’t really that nice.

I despise their account luck system and I want to avoid it.

As i said, the only reason i can think of is that you don’t actually want better drops. Which is weird, and definitely not something you share with many people.

Should foods be overhauled?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Astralporing.1957

If some ingredients were a bit more widely available, some people would switch to producing their food directly, instead of buying it. Seaweed farm getting introduced helped here a bit, but there’s still a scarcity of spores for Toxic food, for example.

Also, there are people that would use food if they could produce it in satisfying qualities, but would never think of buying that food from TP (either because of that mistaken belief that things you can make from mats in your storage are “free”, or due to some people just liking doing things themselves).

This is I think the third or fourth time I’m suggesting this: remove essences and instead add the luck directly to the account when it would be awarded or generated by salvaging. Adjust some recipes that require essences now to require something else. Problem solved.

And I hate this idea. I despise the account luck system and I don’t want any luck. I destroy the essences.

I would argue that the mayority of players is fine with a price of 1g BECAUSE THAT IS THE PRICE THEY ARE BUYING AND SELLING IT FOR.

I’m pretty sure that the majority of players do not, in fact, buy MC’s at that price. If i’m wrong, and the number of players is indeed that small, we have a really big population problem.

And thats not what I said. I said buying and selling. I didnt talk about players that neither buy or sell.

The mayority of new buy orders will be posted above 85s and most new listings wont be above 1.15g.

Sure, but that’s not a majority of players. Merely a majority of players that are buying and selling.

As a side matter, the fact that people are buying/selling at a certain price does not mean they are fine with it. Merely, that they can stomach it at the moment.

Since you get 20 Mystic Coins every 28 days by simply logging in, it takes about 11 months to get the Mystic Coins required to craft a Legendary. To amass the other required items takes about the same amount of time.

Only if you don’t do much beyond just logging in and out.
Remember, that by the time ascended gear got introduced (3 months after launch), there were already people with legendaries made. a year after launch i have personally knew more than one person that had several legendaries.
And getting the materials for legendaries now is easier than it was then.
Except for MC’s, that is.

ANET has done it this way for over 10 years ………. I have no problems with it.

No?
I don’t recall anything in the first Guild Wars not obtainable by playing (even a lot).
And here, everytime they did something like this, they got bad feedbacks from the community.

if you weren’t around during a festival, hats were completely unobtainable forever
Lupine Mask
Zombie Mask
Skull Mask
Dragon Mask
Lion Mask

etc

they’re all pointless items, but if you missed them they were forever unobtainable

First, they weren’t rng. They were a guaranteed reward for participating. Second, they weren’t gemshop-bought (and gw1 had no gemshop-bought rng whatsoever). Third, they eventually fixed that.

So people are now complaining that prices going up due to supply and demand interactions, in a situation where the governing body has declared a preference for allowing free market (ish) forces to run their course, is comparable to communism…?

It’s not a free market when all the supply is government (Anet) controlled.
I still wouldn’t use the “communist” comparison, but there are some similarities.

A better question might be if MCs are too expensive at 1G, what should their price be , and how would that price be determined, and how would the TP be regulated to prevent the MC price from rising above the regulated price?

That’s simple. There shouldn’t be a “regulated” price. To achieve that goal, MS’s should be farmable in some way (so, if you find the TP price too high you will still have an option to go out and get them directly). It doesn’t have to be a massive farm like ab multiloot is now for ectos, but some way of getting them that is not capped and does not involve buying from TP should be possible.
Only then can the market self-correct.

Legendary Armor

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Astralporing.1957

Astralporing.1957

The fact that it was explained does not make it justifiable. 7~9 months to make ONE armor set, just think about how ridiculous that sounds.

I never said that was justifiable. At the very least it speaks about a very poor design approach. They changed the armor system from the one in GW1 specifically so they would be able to make armor sets easier. That it ended anything but what they wanted is a massive failure. That they haven’t reworked that system completely even after they realized it’s going to be a big problem is also not a good sign. You cannot duct-tape one of your game’s primary pillars (which is visuals) and keep hoping nothing’s gonna break. That’s not a good long-term strategy.

On the other hand, at this moment legendary armor is not only meant for only a small subset of players, but is also one of the main contention points about the raids, generating a lot of negativity, so perhaps the delay is not that big of a problem for now.

i never said it was useless. but raid rings are not unique. id love to see a explanation why some are and some arent.

Raid rings were unique at the beginning. That got changed as soon as raiders started to complain.
At that moment Anet was dead set to make raids a great success, so they immediately acted on such complains. The rest of the players however seem to be less important for them currently, as this case apparently wasn’t even worth enough dev attention to give us some sort of response.

Trinkets don’t just “happen” to be unique in open world, they are made as such to increase each map’s population.

It’s far more likely that they are simply unique because they were unique at the beginning, and because no dev wants to be bothered enough to change it.

Originally it was to force you to use either a defensive and offensive stat infusion, or to use a versatile one, which cost more (there weren’t any “easiest to obtain” items, as there was only one source for everything). Now that all slots are the same, the reason for unique tag disappeared as well.

Would you fight to reclaim Ascalon?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Astralporing.1957

But the charr already reclaimed it. It took a thousand years, but it finally happened.

I with Greener, the charr already reclaimed it. If humans want more land, they can settle the empty parts of Kryta or spread south from Lions Arch. Most of those lands are wilderness.

I hear Orr has lots of ocean front property.

That actually falls in with my point I made earlier in the thread. No one cares about reclaiming Orr to live there because everyone who used to is dead. Ascalonians are pretty much all dead. The few left are probably as much krytan as they are ascalonian.

That’s only for the descendants of ascalonian refugees in Kryta (and even then it’s likely not correct – there’s a whole Ascalonian district in DR if you haven’t noticed, as well as a big ascalonian settlement near LA). Ebonhawke is however a solely ascalonian city. There might have been some blood mixing in there, but that would be a minority.
The same almost certainly stands for most of the separatists in Ascalon areas (because most of them are likely descended from those that fled to Ebonhawke).

Remember, that Ascalon has been losing the war for years and during all that time refugees continued fleeing the country. There were many of them. And they didn’t get wiped out, like many of the Krytans, when southern krytan territories sunk due to Zhaitan’s awakening (because they settled north of LA).

So yeah, there’s not enough Orrian survivors (i bet there were some) to worry about reclaiming Orr now. The reason why up until recently there was still a war going on, and why the peace settlement is so strongly opposed by separatists show us clearly that in case of Ascalon there are still many people alive that do care.

That’s however (as it has been already pointed out) only for the humans. Charr obviously have a completely different point of view, while other major races have no beef in that, and care only inasmuch as the potential resulting conflict won’t blow in their faces.

LA's background music should be changed

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Astralporing.1957

You do know you are allowed to change the music in Game to whatever you want right? You can change most of the music playlists.

Unfortunately the “customized tracklist” feature is really, really lacking.

You can fully customize you don’t have to remove everything.

You can’t. There’s lot of features that the ingame tracklist has, but customized one doesn’t.
For example, you can’t set a specific sound list for a specific zone (like LA). You can only set a shared playlist for all of the cities.

Also, you can only replace an existing playlist. You can’t add to it or disable only specific music. This is a problem when you realize that it’s impossible to completely duplicate the in-game music playlist using the custom tracklist feature. Even if you have all the music files.

Warning - HoT removes Tyria Dailies

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Astralporing.1957

Astralporing.1957

They could make it so which ever of the two daily you do cancel the other.

For example it is currently either Salvage Pit for people who own HoT and Fire Elemental for people who don’t.
If someone with HoT went to do Fire Elemental daily, the Salvage Pit daily would get disabled and, likewise, if they completed Salvage Pit, Fire Elemental daily would get disabled.

This way people could chose the one they prefer doing.

The best way (and one that was suggested several times already in few different threads) would be to simply make a separate HoT daily category.
Yes. That would mean PvE players would get twice as many dailies than WvW or sPvP ones, but WvW/sPvP dailies are far more generic in their nature and far more likely to just be done during normal gameplay without ever worrying about them, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

(Not that i expect for the current system to change, however. Those are simply my personal thoughts)
