Grinding is never free, to say so is nonsense. Grinding takes you away from money making if you are grinding for a specific drop. If that drop is buyable then you have to consider if you spent time making money in place of grinding would you have saved time. Time is money!

But i’ve seen as much siege usage from SoR as i have from FA, BG, TC- pretty much everyone. As long as siege is effective groups on every server will try to max out as much of it as possible at different times. To think any server is more siege dependent than other has always been a silly idea to me, often siege dependency isn’t a server issue but a group issue.

I never said anything about siege dependence. I said his statement was ironic from what I witnessed last night. Siege was placed in the game to be used.

I agree, and i wasn’t trying to say you had brought up siege dependency as much as frequency. I was extending the conversation to dependency as to kind of sure up the reasons for observed frequency.

I’m just laughing when Vayne thinks it’s just some people talking, because the way I see it are some in-game traders who bought bulk and started selling recently, and contributed at least 50% of the initial increase of prices. And the prices didn’t go up because everyone was at southsun, it was because anet announced the closure of union waypoint farm, and traders pushing it up.

The minority is king here, and the majority is exploited.

Isn’t this always the case in MMOs? I’ve been the minority in other games and i don’t see the issue. If i make my game playing the TP and i get good at it then a certain degree of domination should be expected.

I find it hilarious people are posting Economics 101 but forget about economic shortage, it’s fundamental to any in game economy and that’s exactly what people are describing in their posts in here. Taking a course in college doesn’t mean you understand the fundamentals and doesn’t wipe clean the slate of bad decisions we’ve seen in this game and others (remember D3?) over the past year. It also doesn’t change the fact that every time a nerf spot occurs the prices rise even without people being in these forums talking about said item. It doesn’t forgive how they claimed they liked legit farmers on their Reddit message telling people they’d adjust DR so that it wouldn’t affect legit farmers months ago, which still hasn’t happened. It doesn’t change the possibility of there being a Wi Flagged style algorithm bug in the system causing people to not only hit DR faster then others but also have it last long long after they’ve logged out and across multiple characters. There’s a reason why WoW has 8 million players still to this day, carrot on a stick, take that out and people will leave, they learned that early on.

If they had come clean prelaunch in their interviews and been honest with how they really felt about farmers, legit farmers, then they would have lost sales so basically what we’re seeing is an unethical system of advertisement, “play how you want, except in these instances,” we’ll change the entire game after launch so what you experienced at launch won’t be anything near what your friends experience months after your excitement ends. That’s what I’m saying. The problem isn’t just that there aren’t enough farming areas there’s this big hole where a rewards system should be, and the economy is based off the ancient poorly designed system (even then) of the 2004 RNG everything. Limit the resources in this way and people will leave. One can only imagine what will happen when games that don’t lean on a single currency for everything in a game launch this year. I’ll be watching.

There’s another area in SS cove where you can farm sharks, if indeed they nerf that one then my suspicions will be validated.

This is so very cynical. Certain farming spots NEED to be adjusted because they are broken- do legitimate farmers suffer from this? yes. How about people who rely on materials and artificially low prices? you bet. Until the pace for farming various materials is normalized throughout the game any reductions to the rates from farming in specific ways will be perceived as a nerf and an assault on the legitimate farmer.

This matchup is beginning to suck. When TC and SOS are out in force, its a ton of fun, sadly, SoR as a server just completely outmans those two and its impossible to get in passed the hour+ long queues.

ANet, I know switching it up is ‘hip and cool’ and whatever, but when you forcefully change matchups to boring meaningless ones between a stacked server and a non-stacked server(s), youre doing everybody who enjoys WvW on those servers a disservice.

A comment on this; trolling using gw2LFG needs to stop. People rely on that service to be trustworthy in order to accrue and maintain participation through it. Seen as there’s been no official statement yet about TW moving to JQ ill quickly clarify for everyone;

Due to the current state of the WvW matchup TW has temporary transferred to JQ server to get some WvW fights and will be transferring back as soon as SoR is matched up with JQ or BG. Stealing JQ’s glory and annoying BG was part of the logic behind the choice.

I’m sure normal tasks preformed by TW such as the server meetings will still happen, the only difference is the lack of Indo sitting on the map akitten for 6 hours being rezzed consistently so he can be killed again.

Only the kill deprived TW who could afford the transfer fees both ways transferred (around 30). I, your siege master Ascii, remain on SoR.

-I used to play a lot back when the game was first released (Obviously). I made a thief and only got it to 67, but shortly after that I stopped playing for a while. I wanted to make a new character, but I just can’t stick with it enough y’know? I do like playing, the game is fun; its just whenever I try to start something new, its…. “Ugh”. -I love my thief, but I want to try something new. I’m kind of stuck between Mesmer and Warrior. I don’t really know too much about these. How is their WvW potential? I don’t do much of that other PvP.

My interest in the game comes from tpvp, wvw, and my guilds, as well as working towards my legendary /shiver.

I recommend you play a warrior. A lot of my friends love to lead their warriors into large open field conflicts in WvW and it is the only thing i regret not being able to reliably do on my toons.

This game needs more WvW love- a quality WvW scene will keep a rabid, advocating fanbase for decades.

Add me to the list, i’d pay for a race change. On the living story issue just reset the characters living story. Maybe bundle a race and name change for a more premium price.

A common complaint among the GW2 PvE community is that each update brings more limited time impossibly hard to acquire skins in the RNG boxes associated with each event. I know that this is a means of generating revenue but i think if you were to offer the meta reward as a choice between the holographic shattered dragon wings and a jade weapon claim ticket you would bring a great deal of happiness. I would not expect this to dampen sales in any meaningful way as this would only dissuade purchases from those who have no interest in the wings and wouldn’t do the meta. Those people would then be doing content which they would have avoided instead of purchasing boxes, but i think it is safe to say a safe majority of your playerbase will still wish to purchase the coffers as they will want both a skin and the wings. Greater choice is greater freedom, giving your players more options and less dependency on fate will bring them a great deal of happiness.

For those bringing up why they may or may not do this don’t expect a great number of responses from me as i am aware of how limited my scope is on the issue.

I’m over it; it is frustrating to offer my opponents respect and to treat them well and to be trolled and disrespected by them in return. I’ll let anyone act as they so wish; i won’t be calling anyone out on their behavior- not worth my time.

If you have a problem with what i have said then fine. Don’t use me as an excuse to let the actions of those who trolled me stand as acceptable though- it does a disservice to everyone.

I look forward to the day when a former tier-2 server goes against one or more tier-1 servers. I imagine the gap isn’t as wide as you like to believe, especially considering the massive coverage gaps all your servers have (as made evident by the fact that there’s at least one time period every day where each T1 server is getting pooped on).

SOR doesnt have coverage gaps. And when we are getting “pooped on” you must realize that we are keeping an approximate 200-250 ppt ( today we were top ppt actually during SEA) against 60-80 man JQ zergs in 2 out of 3 BL’s as well as EB. Think about those numbers and how your server would fare against that.

You give SoR a bad name, just leave this thread and head back off to your bridge. No one in T2 is intimidated by SoR or you.

I think removing the visibility of the outmanned buff to enemies would be a positive change. It would require better logistical work on the part of warfronts and protect some of the holding of the already disadvantaged team. One issue i would have with such a change would be the added difficulty it would be to keep up with map hopping zerg balls, but that is a logistical issue and i suppose such added difficulty would do nothing but promote sentrying so it is not a concern that poisons the idea for me.

Its funny because dying is a much more frequent occurrence in GW2 than in most other games i have played. I got used to dying early on.

Seems a lot of people don’t understand Glicko or the concept behind it.

Even though your server may be winning or losing by a large margin currenty, that does not mean you are gaining or losing points necessarily.

A lot of the servers in this thread complaining about being dominated are actually gaining a large number of points because they are doing a lot better than Glicko expects them to do.

That is the beauty of mixing the matchups up a little. To see how your server performs against a different higher or lower rated server and if you perform better or worse than expected than you will rise or fall accordingly.

As of this post, SOS is losing their tier but gaining a hefty 63 points to their rating. Because they are performing a LOT better than Glicko expects them to against those two higher rated servers.

The prices went way up because Anet has nerfed the only good farm spot for cystalline dust to ZERO drops. They could have reduced the % of good drops but nope, they had to make it so that wraiths do no longer drop anything at all.

Result: prices of crystalline dust went up 15 silver (roughly 40-50% more).
This makes going for the Bifrost so much more annoying… (as it requires 750 crystalline dust – now over 250 gold)

When did this change to wraiths go in?

I only request one thing and that is for TC and FA to show some small respect. I have noticed today so far there are a few guilds on TC one with tag INCV I believe that will /laugh when they kill players. This will be like a 40 man zerg versus 15-20 people on SoS. Granted were not as strong as we used to be because of players migrating to other servers. When I kill players and it was a good fight they deserve respect. Please /bow

It would be nice to see players who would be qualified to lead based on rank and badge/karma rather than 100g commanders that do not know how to effectively call strategy for the forces in WvW or that just don’t know what they are doing.

Too many times I see a known commander leading and some random n00b(s) tags up and splits the force and causes a loss of forward momentum because the lemmings and sheep that just follow tags do not actually read what the commander is saying or looks at the tagged name, they just head to the closest com tag and /face roll keyboard.

Yes there is an option to join a squad, but no one does it.

This seems a problem with your server and not with new commanders. New commanders need to get thrown in the fire in order to develop their style and become a better commander. Try working up an apprenticeship system with newer commanders and have your more experienced commanders talk about splitting of forces on maps.

Man, DB taking third place has to be hard to take for certain people there. I guess we will see just how resilient DB’s wvw community is or if it will suffer the same fate as KN.

Everyone has accepted this in T2 quite some time ago. I wonder if SoR’s response time is this slow in game as well.

I think once SOR is ticking 600+ 24/7 vs TC u’ll find out. SOR knows very well how easy it is to crush the morale of TC’s PVE’rs…..

And no, its not necessarily about skill, our coverage will ensure that when your NA prime forces meet ours, SOR’s already dominant NA will already be inside waypointed tier 3 keeps. Good luck with that…..

As if DB isn’t stacked enough already; if you care about balanced tier, FA should be the only server in Tier 2 that you’d consider. Stop asking people to move to DB. Meanwhile, FA has lost two of its more prominent guilds, both of which played during the NA timeslot.
