original leather farm

The “leather farm” was fail before the engis found a way to make it tolerable. So Anet made the engi solution more difficult. If Anet makes it impossible for engis to FARM THE LEATHER, I predict the “leather farm” will go back to being fail.

Leather farm produces more leather from time spent than elsewhere in the game. The farm is only effective if anough players do it but the farm does work if they do. Unfortunately players chose to farm gold elsewhere, which had a higher G/hr output (understandable), so not many did the leather farm.

Will we ever get a REAL leather solution?

Prices are not going to lower from it if players don’t do it. The entire purpose was to give players the means to control the prices which they did. Whether or not players did that was on the players.

If someone wants the same deal as a new player then apply the new expansion code towards a new account. You’ll be on the same ground as a new player.

New customers getting special deals isn’t anything new. A large number of companies offer deals specifically for brand new customers.

Right?"

Right?…

You added that part after I posted and then proceeded to respond to my post asking me why I didn’t answer that question.

Good, now we are on the same page and you can answer the question right?

My original answer still stands. Not everyone will agree on what they want as they each have their own preferences. They could still take what’s discussed though and use it to create more variations of armor skins in the future. . And like my question I had asked you, such discussions could end up favoring skins that you don’t like.

Well, of course not everyone agrees, that’s not the point.

Providing player input gives the devs a better gauge of player likes and dislikes… it’s a pretty simple process that the devs have rarely used to get feedback, but when they do they get a better direction… Legendary gear takes a lot of time and energy and gold and mats… but so far the devs have gone in blind, and we end up with poor looking legendary gear.

The devs are not making variations of legendary armor. The devs are still way behind with gen 2 legebdaries and just released a legendary candle holder with a pinkish Balthazar image… The devs are out of touch and it’s obvious judging by recent legendary gears.

And to address your “vote” thing you’re stuck on… That also assumes players had provided input to the devs and discussions took place to refine said gear… Understand how narrow it is just to make your “you may not like the vote” statement is?

More communication and involvement is always better than less. Again, maybe you are content with all the mystery the devs have to offer, but a lot of companies don’t and are way more connected to their players, and eat more money as a result because players are happier.

Devs see the player feedback all the time on the forums. Nothing about some players disliking the trench coats was new to them. No discussion beforehand would have mattered. They made that design choice fully aware that some players would not like it.

They’re out of touch because they don’t develop skins that appeal to you?

Which MMO companies communicate with players more often than Anet? People even complain about the WoW dev communication and that’s the #1 MMO. Just like aesthetics, players’ perception on what is and isn’t “enough” communication will vary.

Response to bolded… that’s where you are wrong and that’s where dragging out the discussion ends.

If the devs change tactics to intentionally open up dialog to fish for and accept feedback (like they rarely do) before hand then the outcome is different. That’s what I’m talking about, and that’s what you are not mentally absorbing.

How is it wrong? They know that some players dislike trench coats but they made the choice to do so anyway. How exactly would a discussion have changed that?

Player feedback has always been welcomed. A lot of what they hear is accepted and incorporated into the game. Just because what you want doesn’t, doesn’t mean that it doesn’t happen. Yes, the medium legendary armor doesn’t appeal to you. The same can be said for a lot of other armor too.

It’ll also be different from player to player. I have nothing against trench coats just as I don’t have anything against heavy armor being primarily plate armor than say chain mail.

So making it take longer for everyone else just so the however many players upset about the however many EotM farmers progressing faster than them is fair? Why should others have to suffer simply because you dislike EotM farmers’ progression rate?

Season 3 Episode 6 Release Date?

in Living World

Posted by: Ayrilana.1396

Ayrilana.1396

If something isn’t ready wouldn’t they hold it back regardless as to whether there was a PvP season going on.

Which is what I said.

As far as festivals, HoT and Halloween were released at the same time. All the other festivals (however few there are) have roughly a fixed schedule on when they become available and when they end. The episodes have roughly released every two months. With how spread out each festival is, it’s entirely possible for each episode to be released between festivals simply because that’s when they’re ready.

I am solidly aware of when festivals typically fall. Ive only been here since forever.

There was 54 days between Ep1 and Ep2.
62 days between Ep 2 and Ep3.
78 days between 3 and 4.
82 days between 4 and 5.

This merely verifies that they are staying within their 2-3 month projected cadence. We could do all sort of projections on where we think Ep 6 could fall based on any of those numbers, the average, etc. In truth, a full 90 days from Ep 5 puts us all the way out at 9/5, so guessing an early Aug date puts us right around 60 days.

All of this aside, it was just a guess based on a logical pattern, regardless of coincidence. You guys don’t need to rip my head off cause I offered up a prediction.

I believe it was also stated by someone from Anet that the living story episodes are on their own release schedule which is separate from everything else.

This is entirely possible. I don’t recall it, but I wouldn’t discount it either. I know they are on a 2-3 month cadence, that is enough to determine a ballpark idea of when to expect it. From there, its a matter of looking at what’s being said and what else is happening to maybe get a better feel for when it might fall. Coincidence or not.

If we don’t have a thread from Mo mid to late July saying the next Ep is going through its finishing touches, I’ll likely revise my prediction.

Episode 5 released May 2nd so 90 days would be around the beginning of August.

I’m simply disagreeing with what you said and the intention was never to “rip your head off”. I’m sorry if it came off that way.

There are various theories on what could happen and what could not. From what I have seen, I believe that it doesn’t matter if there is a PvP season. From your side, you see otherwise. Either of us could be correct.

Can we do something about mastery points?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Ayrilana.1396

Ayrilana.1396

Actually there is forcing, when the xp gets to the max and you have no points to spend at the moment. An excess of 30 or so is not enuff for up to 186 points to spend. Considering that less than 20% of the material will be considered enjoyable by the players, and that the players will differ on what is enjoyable to them, so at best anet can provide 50% of quality material, then there should be a bonus of MP’s of about 94 points.

It’s more than enough buffer.

Did you make up that “fact” about 20% of players?

Excess mastery points should not be based on what players prefer to play as that defeats the purpose.

No it doesn’t, as long as they are doing enjoyable (to them, at least) content, they will stay engaged in the game. 20% of (enjoyable) content…. Or they could just take out MP collection itself, altogether…

Again, where are you getting this 20% from as it looks like you’re just making it up to support your argument.

Having so much of an excess of MP in the game makes it pointless and defeats the original purpose.

It does defeat the purpose, as it is not needed and is terrible game design. It starts to devolve the game into a niche game.

It defeats the purpose as the mastery points get players to experience most of, if not all, of the expansion content.

The XP requirement already takes care of that. Yes, you can do it on another map but presumably you will want to explore the new shiny a bit anyway.

Meanwhile, you know next to nothing about most MPs on the new map. Odds are you know of some on other maps you have not grabbed yet though.

The XP requirement does not do that. You could skip the first three maps and go directly to DS to farm XP and max your masteries.

You could even level them with only going into the HoT maps once to unlock them and then max them on the LS3 maps. The original leather farm provided a lot of XP that was only second to the lab farm.

That moment when t3 wvw armor looks better than legendary armor /faceplam.

http://i.imgur.com/CySBcpN.png

When will people realize that certain legendaries fit in theme with certain classes better then others?

When will the devs realize they should discuss things like these with the community and get feedback first?

Because not everyone would agree? Some people may have issues with something while others may not.

Pretty sure majority of engi/thief/ranger community got sick and tired of trenchcoats…. and yet we got another one making your character look like it is pregnant with a whale.

Yeah and that’s 1/3 of the classes and perhaps 1/3 of players if they were all equally distributed. That’s also assuming there are not people that actually enjoy the trench coats.

In the end, no matter what choices are made by Anet, there will be players unhappy.

You do know most people have multiple classes, right? 1/3rd of classes have to deal with trenchcoats. I wouldn’t be surprised, though, if that was almost 100% of players.

I’m well aware that people have multiple classes. I didn’t state “if they were equally distributed” by accident although I could have elaborated more. Whether or not all players have at least one medium armor character doesn’t matter as personal preferences on aesthetics differs across players. I personally have no issue with trench coats just as someone else may.

It’s kind of frustrating to see that med and light wvw armor looks better than medium and light Legendary armors.

I sincerely hope the devs revisit leg armors and make improvements with player feedback.

The thing is that not all skins will appeal to all players. While you may prefer the WvW ones, others may not. Feedback, while useful, likely wouldn’t matter as much in this case when it’s based simply on players’ differing preferences.

The devs could easily create concept drawings for us to discuss and vote on… not hard to get the playerbase involved in legendary gear and weapons matters.

And if the existing skin had won?

Answer the question, don’t ask me hypotheticals.

You, while positing a hypothetical situation, insist that others not ask you hypothetical questions?

Really?

Yeah really?… Ayr can answer instead of deflecting with a question. I’m sure (s)he is capable of providing a response.

I’m not deflecting a question as you never asked one. All you did was give a hypothetical situation of Anet providing concept drawings to vote on and discuss.

The point of the question was to get you to realize that no matter if there was a vote, people would still complain. There was a vote between that reactor fractal and an abaddon one and people who lost still complain about it.

You’re asking for a vote which honestly wouldn’t change the existing situation. No single option would please everyone.

I did ask you a question. You can reread it.

The entire point is to get some community feedback first… Mindblowing concept right? Out of the realm of possibility for the devs to gauge how the players who will have to earn and wear the gear feels? Right?

Maybe you’re use to the gw2 dev team that rarely communicates and rarely engages the community, and a game that doesn’t have an open testing server and such… but there are other games, that earn more per year, that do…

Maybe you like it when the devs drop trench coat dresses for rangers, thieves and engineers… that make our medium armors classes look frumpy battle wizards, but I sure don’t… Maybe if the devs actually paid attention to previous armor complaints, or gauged the community to get a feel for what the communit at large would like, we could possibly have something more tasteful and appropriate… but ya know… Flames of “War” candle holder…

Would do you well to wrap your head around the benefits of dev and player interactions.

“The devs could easily create concept drawings for us to discuss and vote on… not hard to get the playerbase involved in legendary gear and weapons matters.”

The above is a statement, not a question.

As I’ve stated already, feedback wouldn’t necessarily matter as player preferences differ. What one player finds appealing, another may not. The end result would be that some players like the skin(s) while other don’t. Asking for feedback prior to releasing every skins wouldn’t reveal what they don’t already know and I’m sure most of it is by design choice. They’re well aware beforehand that some players may not like the skin while others will.

The devs communicate fairly often. They don’t need to communicate to every single person that feels entitled to be communicated to. An open testing server isn’t a necessity and I could not find that many MMO’s that do that for anything that couldn’t be considered a beta test like what was done for HoT.

I personally don’t have issues with trench coats. Again, that’s my personal preference you as you have your own. Mine doesn’t overrule yours just as yours doesn’t overrule mine. The devs are well aware of the complaints as a segment of the population have been complaining since around launch. They’ve released non-trench coat skins but apparently that isn’t good enough. The WvW T3 armor isn’t a trench coat for example.

I’m aware of the benefits of player-dev communication but there are instances where nothing valuable can be gained that’s worth holding back the release of skins.

They can always add more rewards at any time. Any reward structure that they add will of course reach a point where players have everything unless Anet adds more. The new WvW rewards are not any different.

The timegates are there to keep players coming back and to maintain the WvW population which was low. Players have been asking Anet for years to add new dungeons. If there weren’t timegates, players would grind through to get all of the rewards in a week and then abandon those dungeons. Timegates are a necessity.

The difference between first, second, and last is a pip between each. It’s not that detrimental to be last. You miss out on two pips compared to those that are first. You’re still making progress for the week.

Tier 3 Armor

In addition to Tier 2 armor, you’ll be able to earn Tier 3 Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s armor in this release. Tier 3 armor is the ultimate prestigious WvW armor, and it will require you to have earned both Tier 1 and Tier 2 to acquire. Each piece requires a very high WvW rank to purchase. However, unlike Tier 2, this ascended armor will not require any crafting to earn.

But looking at the skirmish vendor on the wiki https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Skirmish_Supervisor#Mistforged_Triumphant_Ascended_Armor it shows Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s (armor piece) requiring grandmaster marks to purchase. Grandmaster marks can only be obtained by crafting and are account bound when you get them.

Is the wiki wrong? Or is the armor in the list here a different type than what was mentioned in the dev blog? The dev blog clearly said “will not require ANY crafting to earn”.

Wiki could be wrong as they may have just copy and pasted.

All ascended armour and weapons use these tokens. These changes were rolled out couple of months ago in an effort to make the costs for acquiring them similar to crafting ascended as a whole.

Read the article linked.

There isn’t, or at least not in your case, as I’ve been logged into either 4 or 5 accounts at once.

Adding -clientport 80 on the target line of the shortcut may fix it.

Aren’t these rewards and such permanent? Why the rush to get them now? Weeks later, after the rush, you’ll be able to grind out what you need.

Maybe to give players two different looking items so that they have options rather than be stuck with a single theme that they may or may not find appealing.

Legendary Armor: Feedback [merged]

It’s kind of frustrating to see that med and light wvw armor looks better than medium and light Legendary armors.

I sincerely hope the devs revisit leg armors and make improvements with player feedback.

The thing is that not all skins will appeal to all players. While you may prefer the WvW ones, others may not. Feedback, while useful, likely wouldn’t matter as much in this case when it’s based simply on players’ differing preferences.

That moment when t3 wvw armor looks better than legendary armor /faceplam.

When will people realize that certain legendaries fit in theme with certain classes better then others?

When will the devs realize they should discuss things like these with the community and get feedback first?

Because not everyone would agree? Some people may have issues with something while others may not.

Season 3 Episode 6 Release Date?

in Living World

Yes, Ep2 released during a pvp season (season 4 to be specific). However, since then each episode has come between the seasons. For Ep 4 and Ep 5 it came directly after the season ended, and Ep 1 and 3 came right smack in the middle between two seasons. Ep2 seems to be a bit of an oddball.

Every season is 55 days long (yes, I verified), which ends PvP S7 on 8/7/17. This puts us right in the time frame to expect the next episode. If nothing else, it seems the pattern is to expect the LW Episode to release between the pvp seasons. I’m still holding to my original theory of 8/8.

That’s just a coincidence with the timing of the episode being ready. They’re not going to hold back an episode for weeks simply because there’s a PvP season going on.

Agreed, if it’s ready, I’m sure they’d release it. That said, if its not ready, I’d also fully expect them to hold it back.

However, intentionally timing a release cadence in such a manner allows for it feel like they are consistently pushing out things for players to do. As one ‘thing’ ends, another gets pushed out to keep people busy and happy. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if there were doing such a thing. We’ve already seen them do exactly this previously with LW and assorted festivals.

If something isn’t ready wouldn’t they hold it back regardless as to whether there was a PvP season going on.

I believe it was also stated by someone from Anet that the living story episodes are on their own release schedule which is separate from everything else.

Taking a look at the forums tells me there are a lot of solo players, or as solo as can be possible. I suspect they want to do it solo. I’m pretty sure most of them understand that help is available but they would rather achieve it themselves.

My main concern is what will happen with guild storage under the old system when the next expansion or a major update hits? It gets harder to add stuff and still make everything work and I suspect creating a “one type fits all” guild hall and storage approach would be, should be, on the horizon..

What do you mean by guild storage?

Those who had everything unlocked before the expansion were grandfathered in so they had those storage upgrades unlocked once the expansion hit. I don’t see Anet resetting this with each expansion. What we could see them doing is adding more storage slots but that would just come down to more materials and guild currencies.

PIPS, and reset.

I wouldn’t just blame the queues as “bandwagon city”. The server caps are based on active players in WvW. With so many more players, who may already be on those servers, flocking to WvW then it’s going to increase the likelihood of hitting that cap.

I agree that there should not be scaling of guild challenges.
I suspect most small guilds would be fine with this.
Most players that have seen the old system just want to be able to drop a banner here or there to help out. They are prevented from that by the system.
I don’t see a problem with making a hall attainable by a small guild, even one or two player guilds. We have the ability to be in 4 other big guilds at the same time.

How would that be different than players now gaining a hall and selling it to other players?

I was referring specifically to upgrades but yeah.

Guild halls can be claimed with a party of players. I’ve seen it done solo before too although I personally wouldn’t spend the time attempting that. There’s also the LFG which will bring you players who are willing to help whether it be because they never got to experience claiming their guild(s) or just wanted to because.
