No new hairstyles for Charr?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ayrilana.1396

Why would the other races have new hairstyles with the expansion when they have nothing to do with the new region?

Because new faces and hairstyles are about offering diversity to all players, not about imaginary racial limits. Maybe you spect charr, asura, norn and sylvari player characters not to be admitted in the new areas because the problem is with a human god?

So when we go to the Charr homeland, humans will get new hairstyles based on the Charr there? If you played GW1, you would realize that, in that region, they are humans. There were no Sylvari, Charr, Norn, or Asura. Expect the same with Cantha.

  • That character can purchase a portal so that all toons can reach the zone, for free. The cost is nominal, in map currency.
  • You can combine all portal scrolls for LS3 maps for a somewhat less modest amount of local currency.

I’d prefer no gating, but if we have it, this isn’t too bad.

Would you please include the price of each of these portal scrolls and how many scrolls for how many maps we need to buy to send all our toons to that map?

Also as others previously mentioned, I rather spend that money on home instanse nodes and port to friends for different purpose too.

Hello!

Just trying to get a feel about what you think when you can’t actually get to a map until you have finished the requisite story episode.

In my opinion – and it is just that, an opinion – is that I find the concept frustrating. I know some will just say “do the story then” or TP to a friend but I am a very solo player and a Filthy Casual with zero skillz and am the complete opposite of l33t…

What’s your take on it? I suspect I’m very much in the minority here!

The story can be done solo with any class and high personal skill isn’t really isn’t a requirement.

I would love to see you solo, personal story steps (specially HoT) While in exotic gear and exotic armor on a ranger or elementalist and put the recording in youtube for us noobs to observe and learn. I don’t mind if you have 540ms ping too!

There are already plenty of videos and testimonies of players doing just that. Just because you cannot do something doesn’t mean that it is impossible.

No such thing as lucky accounts; just lucky people.

RNG is random. If something has a 0.001% chance of dropping then it will drop that percentage of the time on average across the entire player base. It doesn’t distinguish between the number of hours a particular player has played the game.

While I don’t think they need a new recipe, I do think its strange to require mithril and elder wood both to craft the curio and then to also use the curio to craft the shard of ______ for whatever weapon you want. Its weird to double up on mithril/elder wood like that imo

My assumption is so that it maintains a high price for the legendaries but also a material that can easily be farmed and/or obtained naturally by playing the game.

Not quite what I meant, Khisanth got it though I think.

Why split the mithril and elder wood into 2 recipes? Why not just have 1 recipe require them in higher amounts, and remove them from the other?

As it stands now, you can bypass needing stacks and stacks of mithril and elder wood by buying teh curios off the TP, but then you turn around and still need stacks and stacks to craft the shards. Why not have the entire mithril/elder wood cost in the shards? Or have the entire mithril/elder wood cost in the curios so that you could not require any stacks of elder wood/mithril in your inventory to craft your shards? I just don’t like how its split up into 2 recipes like this.

Why does it matter that you need some mithril/elder in one recipe and some more in another? You’d prefer if all of the mithril/elder requires for shards to be put in either the curio or shard recipe but not both?

I see. Well, that’s not terribly helpful then — 4 or 5 seconds off of 2 minutes is on the useless side. I’ll have to pick an alt that doesn’t give the doppelganger much to work with.

Or just not get that achieve. There are others to work with for the meta. But now that I’m capped on dailies, I find myself greedy for AP

Well alacrity itself removes more time off the cooldown than that. I think someone mentioned that it keeps the boss’ buff stack at 1 or something too which may be why people go for it that way.

Sure but the better question here is, why so much ?

The sheer amounts of elder/mithril is kinda absurd for farming… But just barely reasonable if you’re playing other modes and buying it.

To maintain the high cost so that it’s comparable to other legendary weapons. The amount of elder/mithril really isn’t that much of an issue when you look at what other legendary weapons require. At least this way, players have a way to directly farm the materials which are very very accessible.

Let me rephrase this so maybe it makes a bit more sense.

Can we not keep the cost high, while simultaneously not crushing and already used market by demanding an inane amount of one or two materials ?

I happen to believe they very well could have done just that, as is there’s several markets that are under utilized. Things like Ori (whose price is less than Plat), or Gossamar/Silk (granted these aren’t weapon specific materials), Gold/Silver (again not directly weapon specific but could be used as justification for some of the ornate designs).

This is of course all the while keeping in mind that they’ve moved away from the original series 2 Legendary journey. It just feels like a cheap solution when they could otherwise find ways to make things a retain cost while changing different materials to open up markets as opposed to saturating existing ones.

Sure. We could need to use a variety of materials. The situation we have now is only an issue because they released two legendaries at once with one being very popular. This was not an issue for the other four. This will likely not be an issue in a few more weeks once prices have settled.

Then I did get the Alacrity but it did NOT clear the 25 stacks so my only recourse was to use the ghosts lest I run around in circles forever. I wasn’t in any danger, but neither was my doppelganger.

Was it a bug? Should the 25 stacks have vanished while I had Alacrity?

They don’t vanish. You just get like 4 seconds of alacrity which reduces the cooldowns somewhat when it’s active.

Draconis Mons has enough WP. The only two hearts which don’t have one are for the Inquest base and that one where the Druid escort begins. The former can quickly be reached using the lava tubes with the latter requiring a bit more time by gliding down from the mercenary camp WP.

Slight side note here: The Vigil heart is swiftly reached by thermal tube from the entry WP. The tube just upslope from the WP drops you within yards of the heart vendor.

Expansion Announcement August 1st

Hopefully we get a completed expansion to purchase this time around.

What do you mean? I was under the impression the expansion was completed when we received it. It has all the masteries the entire story all the events and achievements and so on. What was the expansion missing?

Let’s see here Promised Raids at launch- delayed till a month after.

Promised Legendary Armor-took 2 years to implement.

Promised a New set of Legendaries 2 years in and an Expac announcement later still not completed.

Promised a complete class- given a half baked class full of bugs that have plagued it for 2 years, that has incomplete Underwater.

All maps even PS were bugged to high heaven PS is still extremely bugged on Last chapter

promised new a well polished competive Pvp mode- scrapped after 1 year. Promised good leagues- up until s5 it was essentially alpha testing, now we are in Beta with s6.

Promised Elites as side grades to core- 2 years later The blatant power creep is being brought inline, due to new Expac and new Elite Specs.
Etc.

They specifically stated before release that they were delaying raids for a few weeks. I think the reasoning they gave was to give players a chance to play the expansion and to work on a few masteries.

Legendary armor released with HoT. You cannot obtain it without the expansion. It was not stated that it would be available on day 1.

They never stated that legendary weapons would all be released on day 1. In fact, I think they specifically stated that only a few would be.

Rev is still fine. The meta build is a bit boring but players don’t have to go with that build. I’ve had no issues with the almost non-existent underwater content.

None of the maps, or the story, were “bugged to high heaven”. That’s a great over-exaggeration. I’ve completed the last chapter about thirteen times and never encountered a bug other than the one where you had to break the bars yourself. Basically all of the other issues were addressed quite some time ago.

People have praised some seasons with others criticizing those very same seasons. You’re not going to get perfect MMR because you can’t accurately measure personal skill in a team match. Players can also get carried and there’s always variations in how people won due to class comp, map, and so forth.

ToK in Black Lion Chests

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ayrilana.1396

I’m actually disappointed with the removal of tomes from the chests and stopped purchasing keys as a result.

I loved using tomes to crank out those last 10 to 20 levels and get to fully customizing a character but outside of black lion chests I’ve barely ever got any. My server does very poorly in WvWvW (despite its population shifting between high and very high) so there’s no progress to be had on the reward track and whenever I tried to play Edge of the Mists in the past months it has been empty so nothing to be gained there either.

This leaves me with the daily login rewards and, well, that’s it.

Let me get this straight. Because you cannot get ToK from chests anymore, you stopped buying keys? Implying they are the main reason you buy keys. You think it was good to pay 35g and get two level ups at best? So, for your 20 levels, it cost you 350g at least to do it with ToK? You can level from 60-80 in a couple of hours.

Edit: Out of interest I checked how many ToK are on accounts; The mean is 193 per account, the median is 59, the maximum is 9144.

They stopped buying keys because the common rewards they would often get was no longer worth it. Same reason that you were complaining about not wanting to pay for the keys because they contained the tomes.

Ayrilana.1396

The maps already have a lot of waypoints.

Not the recent ones, they haven’t.

Yes they do. Well maybe with the exception of Bitterfrost.

The last one is okay, if we consider shrines to be waypoints (i don’t, but i agree that may be debatable). Bloodstone Fen is passable. Bitterfrost however is really bad. So is Draconic Mons (seriously, there are places there for which the closest waypoint is on the other side of the map). And while Lake Doric and Ember Bay are a bit better, they aren’t any good either.

So, you have 1 (maybe 2) out of 6 that are either ok or barely passable, 2 that are really bad, and 2(3) that are moderately bad.

Bloodstone Fen has more than enough. There’s a WP in any of the sections that you would need to go and everywhere else with a major event can be gotten to relatively quickly.

Ember Bay has a WP at each of the camps/hearts except for Jade. The mastery has the lava tubes which allow players to travel to specific points such as Jade. The map is fine.

Bitterfrost has two WP which is far from a lot of things on the map.

Lake Doric has three WP which is manageable. There are some places that will require a bit of travel if they ley lines are not active.

Draconis Mons has enough WP. The only two hearts which don’t have one are for the Inquest base and that one where the Druid escort begins. The former can quickly be reached using the lava tubes with the latter requiring a bit more time by gliding down from the mercenary camp WP.

Siren’s Bay is fine as you have a WP to each shrine where most of the gameplay on the map occurs.

I’ll also mention that Dry Top had like five WP with a lot of travel required to get to certain locations just like the new maps. SW has two WP, with one often contested, which requires a lot of travel. SSC has like 5 WP, with one normally contested, and about as much travel is needed as on the new maps.

Elder Wood Log Price

in Living World

Posted by: Ayrilana.1396

Ayrilana.1396

They include those items to maintain the high crafting costs typical of legendary weapons. The fact that the cost relies heavily on T5 ore/wood is great for players as it’s easily farmable and players amass large quantities depending on how much they play the game on PvE expansion+ maps.

Some may argue about the elder wood prices but the same would have happened to mithril if the recipes had been adjusted based on weapon type. Hammer and sword are both metal based so mithril prices would have gone up considerably.

I’ll also point out that the weapons themselves don’t use wood directly. It’s the shards which do. So a better argument would be why does each legendary weapon require 290 shards.

I’m not keen on unlocking WP’s with currency. I’d guess the idea of “use currency and unlock for account” is a test due to the requests to not have to run each alt to WP’s to unlock them. For my preference, I’d hope the test fails. I prefer the old system.

As to other LS3 maps, I cannot say that I find the number of WP’s light in general. While there are some core maps where you trip over WP’s all the time, there’s also others where they are considerably scarcer. At least so far, the LS3 map WP’s are not contested and thus unavailable.

Maybe use the seasonal currency instead which in this case would be unbound magic?

Then people would be able to unlock before investing any time in a new map. I think the idea is to reward you for spending a little time there by making it easier to spend more time.

That’s true. I didn’t think that much into it.

one per section per layer and that would mean we need about three times as many as we got.

and the ones we’ve got need to bought with time gated kitten that we also need for map rewards. as far as i’m concerned we got one single waypoint.

No. That would be excessive.

Whether you see it as having five waypoints or one is up to you but it’s a fact that it has five. You can’t really argue against it regardless as to whether you have to purchase to unlock them or not. Other than not being able to access them outside the map, they have the exact same functionality as regular waypoints.

The map currency is incredibly easy to get. You get 15 per character. You get like 1-3 from many of the boss events. You get 1 guaranteed from every oyster node with over 20 on the map. If you bought the home instance node, that’s another 9.

Hope the exp doesn’t continue with this.

It’s one of the easiest fights in the game. Interact with the NPCs to gain a special action ability, then simply kill it. Ignoring that mechanic and brute forcing it is the optional achievement.

Without any idea you can even interact with the npcs, its the most garbage encounter ingame.

Which got resolved in a recent patch.

Addressed an issue with the “Shining Blade Secrets” instance in which the Images of Guilt were not immediately obvious as being part of the fight’s mechanic. These creatures will now display a marker over their heads—and at their location on the minimap—when they are able to be interacted with.
