All I want is a response on the following:
Was mystic tribute an intended component? Or was it a mistake, like the 1000 currency costs were?
It’s understandable if it was a mistake because 2 new weapons were released and therefore, perhaps coding was screwed up somewhere.
I just want a clear answer before I make this. Instead of making it and then having a statement claiming it was a mistake and will be addressed.
Probably a 99.99% chance that it was intended.
Don’t all the new legendaries require a mystic tribute?
Yes. Armor was slightly different as they were treating the entire set as a legendary.
Our plan is to keep releasing legendary weapons alongside episodes, with the weapons not requiring the new expansion.

Those who hate it should definitely give it a chance. It actually gets easier for the second half as all you’re really doing is jumping from one platform do another similar to a lot of the Orr vistas.
It’s an optional reward. If you don’t like the price then don’t go for it. People have paid more for an aura which is pretty much what it is.
Has anyone tried using consumables such as Fire Ele, Pet Whistle, pod turret, and so on?
Theme is fine when you look at it from a high level rather than get stuck on minor specifics.
Other than daily map currency gating, I don’t think there is anything.
Enjoy the thread now, because it won’t be long before we get dozens of posts saying “I figured it out in 3 minutes because I’m amazing!” Followed by chastising remarks about hand holding.
Generally, though, this games community is helpful and it’s awesome.
Look at the hyperbole and whining some of the responses are in this thread and then ask yourself why there are any sort of ‘chastising remarks about hand holding’…
Dont’ see the connection.
Some few, vocal people want to act like this fight (which isn’t hard if you engage your brain ever so slightly… hard for some people, I know…) is the end of the world, ruining their lives and making them want to contemplate suicide… when its just a dang game. And not even that hard of a game either.
When you come off as /that/ whiny and over-entitled over something this trivial (and it is trivial…) then yes… people are going to respond with sarcasm. But hey! If people just want all these fights to become ultra-boring ‘Press-the-big-butten-here-to-win’ kind of snooze-fests, then all the more power to them, I suppose…
I’ll laugh when the forums become full of ’I’m bored! This game sucks!’ kind of posts… likely from the very same people.
The fight is already like that if you speak with the NPC and use the new ability.
What a lot of people are complaining about is going for the other achievement that requires you not to speak to the NPC. This makes the fight much more difficult because of the very long cooldowns and need to endure through the enemy’s attacks. Currently the only way people have found to do this is either with minions/turrets/clones doing the damage or setting yourself up with very high sustain (e.g. warriors healing signet) and just whittle away at the health bar.
The problem with the above is that it excludes some classes. Now, if there was a reliable way to avoid the debuff, as dodging doesn’t appear to be working, then there wouldn’t be an issue.

I think that’s the point with these collections.
The “setting up assets” excuse probably doesn’t apply because you’re ported to another area. Or they can just add a mote to repeat. I have just been running to Anise to initiate that step and then immediately run to the door where I AFK for like 5 min.
It’s like 3 seconds of alacrity which honestly won’t help much with 25 stacks of the debuff and the boss attacking you.
The fight is only “doable” if you don’t have to rely on constant use of your skills such as if you used turrets or minions.

No, you have to play GW1.
All of GW1 can be done solo with heroes.
It’s fun so I’d give it a try. It’s not like GW2 is overflowing with content.
While they certainly could, I think this is more of an issue in regards to inventory management.
That’s not a source…
Someone quoted that on the forums, but with no search capability…
But, I compared it to my own experience. I’m a non-raider in the top 12% of all players. I may be atypical, but the real number can’t be a whole lot off from that.
I was referring to it as not being a source to your statement that “the vast majority are in neither group” in regards to XP.
Citing that raids was only designed specifically for 10% of the player population is not a valid source to state the above. Just because something is designed for specific players, does not mean that everyone is excluded. There are many PvE players with the PvP legendary backpack and there are WvW players with the new legendary weapons. As for raids, there are encounters at the beginning of the wings to give players just starting out a way to ease into raiding. The escort encounter of wing three is one such example.
You’re also making the assumption that everyone, or the majority of players, are at a point that they cannot progress their masteries. This is something that you cannot know or claim.
What I stated that the XP version helps players is true. Whether those that care less for spirit shards, or can no longer progress their masteries, does not matter.
I merely ask that they drop the whole multi-leveled maps and just flat out make them much larger in square mileage.
Plains of Foreverness
The vast majority of players are in neither group. (According to ANet, raids are designed for about 10% of the player population. So, 90% are excluded immediately.)
Is there a source for “the vast majority are in neither group”?
Yeah. Immediately after the statement.
That’s not a source…
Both Karma & XP boosters are entirely useless … until you actually need karma or xp.
Yeah, that was my point on XP. The only way you can use XP is if you:
- Are training masteries for which you already have MPs, or
- Have all masteries completed (including raiding MPs)
The vast majority of players are in neither group. (According to ANet, raids are designed for about 10% of the player population. So, 90% are excluded immediately.)
However, karma boosts are still useful. There are tons of things karma can buy, and ANet seems to be adding them all the time now. I may have 10+ million karma available, but I spend some of it almost every day. I would buy the karmic retribution boosts in every map if it were available (including core Tyria, although that doesn’t seem likely to be on the table for ANet).
Is there a source for “the vast majority are in neither group”?
Exclusion and who content was designed for are two different things. WvW and PvP were designed for specific types of players but does that mean that Anet is trying to exclude PvE players from those modes? No. As for raids, Anet has been adding easier encounters at the beginning of each wing. Wing 3’s escort is essentially an event.
That event with Dawkurra can also spawn them. Use range attacks and stay to the sides of you are not able to melee it.
There is also one that sometimes appears near the north gate. It can be up at the same time as the mordrem events so it shouldn’t be the one left over from Dawkurra. That one is obviously much easier since armors can easily break its bar.
Yeah. Forgot about that one since I have sometimes seen it attacking the veteran vinetooth.
Get the Karmic Retribution from the unbound magic vendor in Ember Bay. There will be three tiers of it that you will want to buy. Ember Bay has the highest enemy density which is why I’d do that map. You should average about 180 karma per kill.
I just don’t understand why a Necromancer would use a ‘scythe’ in the first place. Considering in Guild Wars, it was for the Dervish Class, not Necromancer. After all it is just a weapon ‘skin’ you are still using a staff -_-
I think they played Diablo 3.
On another Legendary I ran in to a problem I was doing the Kudzu I: The Experimental Longbow, The one flower that is need to complete this is on a dead map Tiny Vinewrath Blossom main boss in the Silverwastes, was there for 5 hours seen only eight other people .
Fun times.
Did you use LFG? On NA servers there’s almost always a farm map running.
Hey. I remember I read somewhere about this, but I don’t remember. How does one save xp for the upcoming mastery?
LS3 map daily chests.
Some of those you are going to the wrong location.
Everything released from Episode 2 and onwards is very easy to craft. It just requires a ton of refining T5 ore/wood.
Edit: You’ll have an easier time doing the champ emperor in TD. Just ask people in map chat if you need help.
The HP arrowhead doesn’t drop it if you’ve already killed it that day. It’s in the bouncy chest. That event with Dawkurra can also spawn them. Use range attacks and stay to the sides of you are not able to melee it.
Read the description again for the location of the Stonehead one. You’re on the wrong map.
As always, the wiki pages for those collection items provide a lot of help.

I don’t see the need to change this when players can either join those squads or create their own and use the LFG. If there’s so many players that do this every cycle, it shouldn’t be a problem to fill your map.Btw, I didn’t suggest to change the current behaviour. I was merely suggesting that commanders can improve the current situation by taking their squad to another map if half of them can’t join the current one. Which was the original topic of this thread: people being stranded on non-organized maps when there would be plenty to fill another one.
It works well every time for me and leaves less people frustrated. Hopefully.
Sorry. Yeah, it was another player that had suggested that behavior and I kind of lumped it in with yours since you responded to my post addressing them.
Lake Doric was in the game data for years before it was made accessible so that alone doesn’t mean it isn’t going to be the next LS map.
Of course, it doesn’t mean it will be the next LS map either.
In name only. It was never a playable section like the parts of the Orr map we see now that are a part of the dungeon and personal story.
It wasn’t playable alright but the map data was in the game for ages, WoodenPotatoes did a couple of videos on it a while back, someone (I think that shaman) had software that allowed a fly through. The final version was different of course, they drained the lake, and a few other things.
Unfinished map data that looked nothing like what we got for Episode 4. Much different from something that is in the game and accessible.

And then it creates multiple maps instead of a full one. No thanks.
Initially it does. But these fill in no time. There are far more people waiting to play DS than what you can get into 1 or 2 maps. Actively trying to go to a new map instead of leaving half of your squad stranded makes it better for everyone.
And once the expansion hits? It’s be pretty annoying for squads to be sent to separate maps when there’s only enough for just one map. This may even be the case during certain times of the week.
All that this is doing is creating extra work on Anet, and in players, when the outcome is really not all different with many players. There’s really no difference between three squads of 30 players being put onto a map versus with 90 un-squaded players being put onto another map.
If you want to be on the map of those squads then join them. If the map is full then join another. If there isn’t another, the suggestion to split up the squads is already pointless as they’d all merge into one map instance anyway.

This is part of some updates that I’ve been working on with the mystic forge, though we had not intended it to go out with last weeks build, as some parts of the change still need some work.
I didn’t put this in the update notes since it wasn’t meant to go live yet, but since it apparently went through, we added the Bloodbound weapons, Shadow of the Mad King weapons, and some weapons with no way to get them anymore like Scarlet’s Kiss to the mystic forge as possible rewards for combining rare weapons.

XP was also removed from WvW
Can be killed with a party of players. I’ve seen it done with as few as three. It only fails because people do not use CC and for whatever reason try to throw more players at it without understanding how scaling works.
So do the commanders’ actions have an impact on the problem or not? I don’t think so, it shouldn’t technically happen that squads are split up at this point.
In a way. Unless I misunderstood what you meant. I thought you meant the map reset. When the new map starts and everyone gathers at the entrance and waits patiently for the end of the world.
What I meant is that the commanders could help to improve the situation. Scenario: 2 full squads, 50 ppl each. Both comms end up on the same map at reset. In both squads ~20 ppl can’t join because the map is full. Now if one commander switches to another map, both can get their complete squad onto theirs instead of leaving many ppl stranded on a few empty maps. No more frustration. Or less at least.
I thought that was what you were referring to. I do it all the time and, apart from a few ppl who rage quit as soon as they see one “map is full”, it always works just fine. Remaining spots on both maps fill fast via lfg.
Wouldn’t it be great (and far more logical than the current situation) if the system automatically put one squad in one map and the other squad in the other? I honestly can’t imagine why Anet didn’t set it up this way in the first place.
And then it creates multiple maps instead of a full one. No thanks.
I would have liked the XP one on Doric Lake.
The XP helps players gain spirit shards or to train their masteries. It’s far from useless or wasted.
Unless you don’t raid.
If the player is at that point where all that they have left is the raid mastery line. Unless most players are at that point, the OP is incorrect.
There are also going to be people who haven’t gone hunting the mastery points, and thus have full XP bars on all their currently available masteries but don’t have the mastery points to unlock them. I was in that situation myself until a few months ago, when I finally got around to hunting down enough mastery points to unlock everything.
In that situation, XP boosts are literally worthless because you can’t gain XP in the first place.
But would that be most players? There can be 4,329,473,987,432 ways that someone cannot have XP be useful. If those ways don’t impact most players when the OP is wrong.
Maybe. It didn’t seem like there would be anything that would glide or fly. We don’t know how the hover could behave.
The griffon can jump and wing flap, which is likely slow fall. They wouldn’t want to require HoT to play the next expansion, so they’ll either not require gliders or simply reintroduce them. They’re going to need a lot more invisible walls however if they simply allow these special abilities; high jumps for example.
They’re not going to duplicate masteries. Griffons in the game don’t glide; they jump into the air and hover. Their mechanic would likely be being able to hover in the air and travel short distances which is what they do in game.
I would have liked the XP one on Doric Lake.

Both Karma & XP boosters are entirely useless … until you actually need karma or xp. Karma seems to have more sinks for more people more often than XP does, but it’s moot if you happen to have 10M karma and want to finish off the latest mastery.
I prefer Karma boosters, because I have far more uses for karma. Despite having spent 2000 spirit shards to unlock all the antique weapon skins, my surplus was higher afterward than when I started (and that was without unlocking raid masteries). Whereas, I spend karma like crazy and can’t seem to maintain it as well.
Still, I recognize that my preference won’t be shared by others. What I wish is that we got to choose which currency would be granted by retribution in each zone: karma, xp, gold find, magic find, or even gathering.
Just like gold is entirely useless unless you actually need it. What’s “useless” will vary from player to player which was what I was getting at when stating that I had a need for XP and that others may as well.

I think most of the EXP items from LS3 are auto-consumed upon receiving them. Their description/tooltip should state this.
HoT Story Journal Chak Killer Achievement ~ I just tried twice killing all the chak and never received the achievement. Can you please fix my account. This is keeping me from receiving the completed award. I have completed the other twelve achievements.
Did you ever get downed?
The wiki pages for each of those collector achievements were made as early as March 2016 after the achievement changes with the new checklists. The few that I just spot checked appear to be using Anet’s numbering so the pages should be correct.
They could still use images though as text directions don’t really work well for some of the coins/badges.
Just did it using the Chrome app and it worked fine.
Can you post a screenshot of what you’re seeing?
If they do add mounts into the game, and are available maps outside of that expansion, they must not provide anything other than aesthetics.
One of them is the new glider, so they’re probably going to be more than just cosmetic.
There is literally nothing good that can come out of adding mounts to the game as it is now.
For ArenaNet there is. It’s simple advertising and will boost sales.
Maybe. It didn’t seem like there would be anything that would glide or fly. We don’t know how the hover could behave.
Worked for me on mobile. Do you have any browser add-ons that could be interfering?
Had 15 players crossed the finish line?
Shrug. I don’t see anything terrible about it and will be crafting it eventually like the others once I have the spirit shards.
If they do add mounts into the game, and are available maps outside of that expansion, they must not provide anything other than aesthetics. I would also want an option that allows me to toggle off the visualization of the mounts on my screen so I don’t have to see that screen clusterkitten and have my PC’s performance affected by it.
I had already addressed the point of it potentially attracting new players in a previous post. If someone currently has no interest in this game, how is adding Tengu, going to attract players? It’s like if WoW added crocodiles as a playable race. People that haven’t played it yet are unlikely to suddenly start playing.
Well, you’re wrong. I got into WoW cause “Wow, you can play as a huge werewolf! Awesome!” And don’t start on pandas. Pandas are not cool. Werewolves are, as well as big samurai-birds. If Mists of Pandaria featured giant ninja were-grizzly bears as a playable race the sales would have just skyrocketed.
By the way, crocodiles are fine too. But dinosaurs would fit better. People love them, people want them.
So if some random game you had no interest in suddenly added a new race, you’d suddenly be interested in it? Sure…
I think that you might have misunderstood my posts. You most definitely misunderstood the part of my post that you quoted.
I was arguing against including anything beyond aesthetics and roleplaying to justify a new playable race because those elements could be added without it.
I’ve also said that it’s up to Anet as to whether the benefits that a new playable race brings is worth the cost. Resources are finite. If resources are spent on one thing then they cannot be spent no something else.
And the last paragraph of what you quoted addresses this. The very point of bringing in more races and lore and visual looks is why a new race is desired and would attract players…so we should avoid adding such features?
And again, the resource argument ad infinitum. If you agree that it’s up to Anet as to whether to add a certain feature or not, then there’s no reason to explain that resources are finite. How is me asking/suggesting a feature be added to the game assuming Anet has infinite resources? And how is you quoting the effort involved in adding such a feature make you more knowledgeable of what features are best to add to the game?
I had already addressed the point of it potentially attracting new players in a previous post. If someone currently has no interest in this game, how is adding Tengu, going to attract players? It’s like if WoW added crocodiles as a playable race. People that haven’t played it yet are unlikely to suddenly start playing.
The finite vs infinite resources probably wasn’t stated by you but by the other person. I’m not arguing what should or shouldn’t be added but about what should and shouldn’t be considered when trying to argue one way or another. I personally don’t care if a new race is added.
