It is a rip off because they allowed all of those items to be refunded. En masse when they made the change from Soulbound to Accountbound. En masse refunds. But now they are refusing to do it after making another change which is basically the same thing?

It’s not. The functionality of the item itself was changed when they made those go from soulbound to account bound.

and i think there needs to be a threshold when it comes to designing challenges
if it requires extreme precision and timing and mastery you cannot make said challenge be reliant in RNG

No collection requires gold. Gold is not required to unlock any masteries and definitely not those few.

but yes i was wrong about collections those can be done with silver

Yes, gold does. However, it is not required to get gold in any of the adventures to max your masteries. It is most definitely not required to get gold in those ones mentioned in this thread to max masteries either.

alrite , doesnt really change the fact some need adjusting though for example i still havent seen anyone get gold in punch o matic my closest i believe was 194 and it was because of a bugged spawn

Yes. That adventure is one that I agree with that needs an adjustment.

For a complete set purchased with laurels, it will cost a whopping 150 laurels (180 if you want infusions)… Those numbers ARE excessive considering we are gated to a MAX 55 laurels per month… You are asking players to wait an entire 3 months (and 16 days if you want infusions)… The wait is an entire QUARTER year and season for enough laurels for a complete set… This IS too much waiting and gating and cost, so here are my suggestions…

Actually they are asking players to go do fractals and guild missions. Around two weeks for all the rings and accessories.

That’s great! So Anet shouldn’t have an issue with my suggestion of being able to purchase a full set with laurels in pve and wvw over the course of a full month.

Thanks for that perspective, makes my suggestion even more valid!

Except there’s a pretty big difference between buying with laurels and getting them from fractals/guild missions.

Yes there is! Two weeks if you like fractals and guild missions. One month if you don’t. Perfect!!!

You’re looking at time rather than effort. It takes little effort to get laurels as all that you have to do is simply log in. You don’t even have to play the game. Fractals and guild missions require you to actually do something.

Yes, I looked at time. I also mentioned fractals and guild missions as well in the op. I also offered suggestions to supplement laurels through currency purchases or changing some numbers.

No effort, little effort, average effort, a lot of effort… That doesn’t matter… I’m talking about how we are given laurels and how they can be purchased.

Sorry, ascended is common now. It’s easy to obtain armor and weapons… I can buy all necessary mats to craft what I need and am only limited by gold except for initial laurel recipes… There is a disparity with “earning” or purchasing ascended trinkets compared to other ascended gear…

Not everyone wants to run guild missions or do fractals… Does game preference argument have to be brought up again?

It would take a brand new account 2 months to gain access and craft as much armor and weapons as desired, limited by initial ascended recipes for laurels and gold only…

So there needs to be a “big deal” with options or changing the timeframe to be more realistic? No, not when I can fire up my credit card and buy everything else and and even stuff like first gen legendary weapons…

Effort does matter when it comes to how quickly someone should be able to get ascended. You already see this in the game. From crafting to fractals to raids and to random drops in open world. You’re still fixated on time and that because so and so method of acquisition is unfair than this method even though it requires more effort than the other.

You are not fully reading here or understanding the big picture considering I had to summarize my op to you…

Random drops are random…

Do you really want to debate “effort”?

When Anet stops allowing ascended crafting materials to be sold on the bltc, and that I can buy with my credit card, then we can say “effort matters”…

Also, nice to know I can take a lot of effort buying all first gen legendaries lol… But, ya know, laurels are only given to customers for being good boys and girls by logging in…

Yeah random drops are random. Just like soggy cookies are soggy.

I don’t really care to debate “effort” but it is pretty obvious that there’s a difference in the effort that someone puts in by simply logging on each day compared to one who does fractals and/or guild missions.

It takes more effort to earn the gold and materials to make ascended materials for armor/weapons. Yes, you can buy the gold but that doesn’t represent the player population.

Hah! There is no way to get the masteries and materials without grinding due to there not being enough content to get these without gross repetition. Grind is build into every mmo really. It’s more about the achievement being based on a huge time/gold-sink on multiple levels.

What do you consider grinding? Doing the same event more than once? Twice? Three times?

Only two new armor sets

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Prophecies has five armor sets. Factions has twelve armor sets. Nightfall has seven armor sets. EotN has four armor sets plus one that can only be used by one profession. Then there’s one armor set you can get from an elite map.

GW2 came out with more armor sets than GW1 combined. HoT had four armor sets plus one specific to an armor weight. That’s pretty much how GW1’s expansion was.

We’re also not taking into consideration how some armor sets were re-skins.

I’m pretty sure that’s wrong.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Prophecies_armor

And it has more armor sets per class – now you get 3 armor sets per weight.

It means ALL heavies get 3 armor sets – not 3 sets per warrior, 3 per guardian, 3 per revenant, etc.

I listed them in the same way people usually use for GW2. Those who compare it against GW1 tend to split it by profession and distort the comparison. With GW2, you can split it by armor weight and then by race. Oh, and by gender.

Each GW1 armor set can have up to 18 variations depending on profession and gender. GW2 armor sets can have up to 30 variations depending on armor weight, gender, and race.

I refer to armor sets by the name of the set and not by each variation.

I don’t expect too many people to change their mind about it, since this is parallel to the discussion about the costs of silk/damask and largely ends up dividing people along party lines: those who support a market-driven economy don’t see an issue vs those arguing it’s excessive because they feel compelled to grind.

I think you’re taking this a lot more seriously than I am Quite simply, a game is more fun to play when rewards can be achieved within a reasonable amount of time and effort. That’s all subjective, of course. This is a game. This is not a job. My personal view is that the legendary requirements are excessive due to sheer amount of time involved, not due to the difficulty. There just doesn’t seem to be a reason for the orb requirement aside from the need to create a huge time-sink when they’ve already introduced other time-sinks like the masteries and fulgerite, etc (which I have done already), which is why I don’t think it was well planned. I would much prefer skill challenge and playing difficulty being the challenge to meet on the way to a legendary vs. base ‘material’ investment (as much as can be said about a computer game).

Am I still working on the legendary? Yes, I am Do I see a way to make it more fun and less of a time-spent-playing issue? Yes. Overall Playing Experience > Economy

In Age of Conan, if you wanted that awesome cape, you had to kill a Dragon. A really kittening Big One in an organize 40+ man attempt. In Guild Wars, if you want that awesome thing, you farm for 120+ days for a few hours each day.

So based on what you just said, you’re with the second group he listed in that you think it is excessive and compelled to grind?

So…what you are saying is to wait to not get ripped off?
Wait till they make all the expansions (dlc…lol)
Pay 50 for the COMPLETE game…then maybe…just maybe…you won’t be “kittened” off by the current dlc…. i mean expansion. for 50$ mind you…. i was hyped and fully anticipating as this was my favorite game.
I feel TOTALLY ripped off and slapped in the face!
Save your money…this game is sinking fast.
All they keep doing is adding more paid cash shop crap…gating the fun stuff (since the content in hot is totally lacking)
I find myself in tyria more than the hot zones (only 3 real maps – small too)
-I have to convince myself to go back to hot zones… just for mats, and a meta…but really should i have to “make” myself go to the new zones?
- After a couple weeks the hot zone will be a chore to you…trust me.
-you’ll be back in tyria in no time…where it was originally about fun all around

You’re not being ripped off. Either you decide if the amount of content in HoT is worth it and buy it or you don’t. It’s as simple as that. When the next expansion is released, you then decide if the content is worth buying. If you didn’t buy HoT, you can include all of that content in your decision.

I’ve been playing HoT since release and it has not been a chore for me. The game is not sinking but if you feel otherwise, feel free to link a source backing that up.

Infused ascended rings x2 in 2 weeks? Good luck with that!!!
I’ve been doing them for a 5 weeks solid as a newbie to GW2 and last night I got my first ever infused drop. To infuse them in the forge takes Vials/Globs and Shards of Mists Essence and I’ve only ever had 11 Vials.

I know for the 2 Accessories it’s 2 weeks in Guild Missions – no other way afaik.

You don’t need infused rings unless you plan on doing fractals on a regular basis. You should get pristine relics from doing the daily achievements which will let you purchase the rings with the exact stat combo that you want. Considering that you have been doing them for five weeks, you should have more than enough to buy the rings.

Constructive. If you hate it so much, why are you here? You’ve also only seem to have played the game for two days or close to that. Give it some more time.

To the OP, the core game is free to those that buy the expansion and apply it towards a new account. Targeting this type of promotion towards new players is common everywhere. This will also be how they will do other expansions with previous releases lumped together. The next expansion will be $50 and include HoT and the core game when applied to a new account.

It’ll probably be addressed through different elite specializations. When solo, break bars are normally not an issue. Some classes are better at conditions, some are better at stacking might, and others are better at blocks/reflects.

I’m sure they will still be able to participate in the same way they currently can. Its not like they will make it mandatory to bomb him. Gliding will not be given to F2P. you get it with masteries and need HoT. If you want to glide buy HoT.

Gliding will, eventually, be given to F2P. Idk exactly where they said it(I’m currently looking for it and will edit this reply with the link), but they said as more expansions are made, the previous ones will become free – so that newcomers to the game are not stuck paying for 7 expansions just to catch up to the player base that’s been around for that already.

Which means gliding & other HoT Masteries will become F2P later on whenever the next expansion is created & launched.

Ayrilana.1396

Sorry that I couldn’t provide a more specific title as there’s a character limit.

I’m referring specifically to the escort event in VB for the pact encampment where you escort the leaders. This is at the very beginning of the chain after you clear the camp of mordrem and revive the NPC’s.

The issue that I’m having is that they tend to walk slowly and have dialogue once they’ve reached the camp. Only after this dialogue does the event complete. The Asura Doctor is the worse when it comes to this and I frequently do not get credit from her event.

Could you please have the event complete when the NPC’s cross the threshold into the camp? Or have them walk faster after the last phase of the event (e.g. Rescue the last set of pact members for the doctor’s event, clear the final group of mordrem for the engineer’s)? Or perhaps a combination of both.

I have also noticed the same issue for the pact encampment chain later on when have to revive the NPC’s at the crashed choppers. Most of them have cripple so you could revive all 10 and run the risk of not getting credit for the event.

Ah yes

i forgot The official forum is reddit.

Well, actually

If you go to Permanent Bank Access, set it on day, make the graph spread out some and check the time you can see that it’s going along at about 8 or 9 supply until the patch hits and then supply drops to zero over the course of about 24 minutes. No Dev quote really needed for those willing to look first.

It had a pretty significant drop-off of like 4-5 like a day before the patch. Which is a lot when compared to the total supply of an item like that. It is suspicious as hell. And this isn’t the first time this has happened. This happens almost every time this type of change happens, always somebody who “guessed” early. I’ve known personally at least 2 people who became rich in this game abusing inside knowledge that they got from playing in the testing servers, I forget what anet calls it. It happens and trying to justify this type of stuff is only infuriating.

Not suspicious as all. People were farming the Wintersday JP and used their profits to buy the contracts. The supply had steadily been decreasing since then.

I think a possible solution would be to encourage veteran dungeon runners to teach the paths to new players (even if they’re running it just once). Something like a Mastery, that unlocks unique content inside dungeons, unique equipment, skins and titles. The criteria to get the mastery would be that it could only be leveled inside dungeons (some bonus if you’re running with a newbie -less than X AP, and/or under lvl 80-).

So CoF farm with someone’s level 1 alt account in the party? I’m not dismissing your suggestion but pointing out a flaw in it.

To me that’s the best use for those slots and the bank NPC would be cheaper in the long run if they expanded the number of slots you could have (especially if you use gold to buy gems).

Edit: Nevermind. Looks like some people had the same idea and bought up all of the bank contracts. Or maybe it was just one person.

Shared Inventory Slot Feedback [merged]

I’ve seen people saying they use the slots for their unlimited tools. Can you use them directly from those slots or do you still have to equip them? If you still have to equip them, how is this any different than getting a personal bank contract?

Just spare a thought for the ANet customer support staff today. Imagine the mountain of player complains/requests/demands that they have to deal with, some reasonable, some not so reasonable.

I can’t help think that ANet made a rod for their own back the day they decided that refunds could (sometimes) be a thing.

As far as it goes, I think a refund policy is a good thing unless one’s advertisements are always clear. Inventory slot may well be the accepted term used at ANet to refer to a one-item slot in inventory. However, there is no way for outsiders to know that. While 100% clear is not possible, ANet would do well to have someone checking their ads and patch notes and asking, “How could this be misunderstood if the reader is not an ANet insider?” They could at least avoid some of the requests that way.

Except if you check the forums and Reddit, the OP is practically the only one who misread it. Of course this isn’t a reliably way to determine representation of the entire population but still. Everyone else complaining about the slots has an issue with the price versus how many slots are unlocked.

Inventory slots are able to be filled with Bags (inventory bags), the patch notes do NOT state a non-bagslot item.

There you go.

Try again.

A bag is an item that increases the capacity of a character’s inventory. They come in a variety of sizes, up to 20 inventory slots, and sometimes have special features

Actually OP, prove that the patch notes state that it is a bag slot item.

Shared Inventory Slots are now available starting at 700 gems each in the Upgrade category of the Gem Store. These slots will allow an item placed in them to be accessible by any character on the account. These slots will appear at the top of your inventory once purchased. Each account can have up to 5 Shared Inventory Slots at this time.

The entire issue is on you for not reading.

It’s not a scam. It may be overpriced for what you get but it’s far from being a scam.

For those who read the patch notes and instant-buy it on the tradepost without further notice, it is.

Next time read what you’re buying.

Why I think HoT failed

Maybe WvW players are playing something else in the expansion? For how long has there been no meaningful changes made in WvW? It’s not unreasonable to think that WvW could of shifted their attention to something else with the expansion which is newer and the new WvW map wasn’t enough to hold their interest.

WvW is sagging for the same reason it generally sagged in DAoC.

Tactics don’t win a three-way server bout, population and 24-hour coverage do. Until WvW forces zergs to split up to claim and retain their territory, and until smaller populations can do specific things to win over larger ones, WvW won’t be close to even or fun.

Yep. Which really has nothing to do with the expansion as it has been like that since release over 3 years ago.

I see no mention of 3 months in the link. They have promised a full set of 17 legendary land weapons (I believe that was in the POI where they previewed the first three), but I don’t believe they’ve ever promised any specific timeline for their release other than when they’re ready.

The link was not meant to suggest that there was a timeline.

Are there any jumping puzzles where gliding would help? (or are they all upwards jumps?)

The only one that I can think of is the griffon one with the bomb. I think it was in Timberline. The rest don’t really start you off at a high elevation. It may also make some of the diving goggle jumps easier assuming it doesn’t cancel out the transformation. Easy way to check is to do the one in TD.

It’ll also make getting the more annoying gold coins in the SW jumping puzzle easier. The diving goggle port at the end takes you well above the cavern with the ship at the start which will let you glide to where most of the difficult ones are.

Ruka the Wanderer: Who voices him?

For the record, the actor who played Ruka the Wanderer is named Rob Shapiro.

But who does the voice for Rob Shapiro?

(I was sure that Ruka was Canach with a little reverb
— where have you gone, John DiMaggio? Our Tyria turns its lonely ears to you!)

Probably busy doing voice work for the new Transformers movie.

Nothing in core Tyria was built for gliding. Any benefit you would get from it would be fairly minimal. If you feel otherwise, please provide instances where people without gliding would be excluded.

Any time that gliding down a vertical area is faster than running around/down it, which is certainly not a minimal benefit, it is actually quite a large advantage in content such as map completion, or running from event chain to event chain.

Very few scenarios as most of the maps are fairly flat and what you do need to go to higher elevations for is normally for vistas. I don’t remember anywhere when doing map completion that would give me a huge advantage. Not to say it wouldn’t be fun to have that though such as gliding down from that vista at the top of the volcano in Maelstrom.
