This is just about a dumb a ‘fix’ as it is possible to put in for decay.

Clearly those writing this change have NO CLUE what wvw is like away from mega blob prime time servers.

On a quiet map it can take two minutes to reach a target. Then I might be waiting for enemies to move off before capping that camp. Or waiting for the invuln timer to run out.

It was long enough to reach tier 3 on most maps outside of zerg prime time mindless spam 1 mode, but with this change it’s just got stupid.

Now the only option is mindless zerg and hope for a res if you die, as if you have to run back to the blob fight your decay means only way to maintain pips is to find a zerg and be in it.

The outnumbered fix was fine.

Decay should start after 5 minutes, then unless you do something useful your pip earning stops. So AFK pip earners would earn one set of pips and then nothing.

This decay is laughable. So glad I’m hardly playing now, I can laugh at the ineptitude of this change rather than be playing as much as I used to and be crying over it.

No tactical importance of towers on Desert BL

I had enemies helping me getting down the barricades. I left my chars there auto attacking that thing while I went afk for 5 mins – how much fun is that?
You can just block acess to the map – even better control over who enters the map.
Or you can be smart about it.
On a sidenote: Can we please get rid of the DBL for good?

It took me 40-90 seconds to take down a barricade without siege, though even that was excessive considering that they only took 20 supply to fully repair. With a catapult, it took like 2 hits. I usually just walked around them, though. A single person can avoid being funneled whereas a zerg may want to avoid the side roads as they tend to have more dangerous chokes.

Also, and I’m a little afraid to ask, what would being smart about it look like to you?

Took a bit longer than that to take down a barricade. It also meant small roamers etc would have to take these things down before moving on- or walk around them. They were also ‘porous’ to a couple of classes who could just go over them in certain spots. You either stood there for 5 minutes trying to knock it down, or if more than one of you, build a catapult and then have to visit a supply before you could move on and set up a catapult with your ninja buddy- which meant a long return trip.

The barriers contributed nothing other than annoyance to the vast majority.

No tactical importance of towers on Desert BL

That’s because the Deserted BL was originally going to be a pve map (next to Wastes was my guess) but then they didn’t need it. Then they decided to adapt it for wvw- but forgot gliding wasn’t happening in wvw (too much effort to program in).

So we ended up with a pve event in the middle (now thankfully gone), large spaces which serve no purpose, vertical drops (no purpose) and towers thrown on a map that was never designed for them, and then made too big and complicated so a small force can capture them without anyone even noticing- but it doesn’t matter, as none of the towers affect any of the others so why would anyone care?

The only reason it’s stayed is because the option was worded in such a way that most who voted read it as ‘vote to keep it or we’ll never make another wvw map’.

Of course, since then they haven’t made another map anyway..or dealt with the core issues of wvw.

Instead they brought in the badly thought out pip system to keep the bandwagonners aiming for something for the net quarter in the hope that numbers in wvw improve.

Already, we’ve seen numbers almost back to pre PIP levels on some servers after an initial surge as people realise that for your average player, getting 175 tickets a week is a full time job.

Remove WvW Linking - Give Us Back Our Servers

We would be a lower tier but a winner in our tier, so why can’t we prove it.

There really isn’t anything to prove in a system where population and coverage determines wins and losses.

You can’t speak for all of us.

Many of us are not playing WvW anywhere near as much as we used to – and with good reason.

We are being dismissed like FA can not understand because it is a host, not a link.

There is a huge difference between being a “link” and being a “host server" and therein lies the real issue – you can’t understand it from our point of view but we can from yours having been on both sides.

Links have failed.

Links, with the addition of Legendary armor, which is a long term endeavor, has made playing WvW during most prime time hours an impossible to improbable waiting game.

If the scores after every match were very close, I’d say the linkings were doing something good, but as it is anyone can look at the score history and the slammed state during prime times and know the linkings are a disaster to any who are in the links and don’t prove the server host can do anything by itself any longer.

Prime time this evening: two maps with small Q’s, other two open.

It’s not an impossible or improbable waiting game if you didn’t bandwagon to the most populated server (or end up on it).

Before linking most servers were dead outside of prime time, and even in prime time most had no queues except EB. Even after linking, many servers still did not have fully queued maps.

After just a few weeks the pve crowd seem to have gone off again and our q’s are back to what they were before the PIP system.

100 badges per 1 WvW ticket

Got to admit, this is a double edged sword.

Those of us who contributed to the server and used badges to get siege, traps, disablers etc and get don’t gain many badges in a week would be disadvantaged over those selfish hoarders- probably the same players that bandwagonned, OS’d their max title, spammed 1 in massive blobs and who currently enjoy 250% more pips for their minimal effort.

On the other hand, being able to use badges, proofs, etc at some decent conversion rate might be useful.

They could easily time gate it by making the maximum 10 tickets a day with an exchange rate of 25 badges per ticket.

With a time gate limit per day and a sensible exchange rate of 25 per ticket, it would look like a fair reward system that benefits everyone equally.

A straightforward ‘swap all for tickets now’ wouldn’t be a good solution.

PiP speed doesn't matter

For me, I now see the pip system as the worst form of grind, like Korean MMO’s.

Grind more, get ranks.

Grind more, get pips.

Spend 40-50 hours a week playing the game to get 175 tickets a week. (none of the calculations take into account waiting time for queues, or how long it can take to get to tier 3 once you get in). You need to grind at least to end of wood every week to maintain ‘participation’.

There is no carry over, so every week most lower ranks lose progression- so the thought is, either push for end of next box, or stop when you get finished one level as those other pips are gone.

As a dedicated wvw player that has a real life, I’m ignoring it now and just playing when I want. But it sits there in the back of my mind and puts me off playing.

End result, I play this game less and another one more.

As with everything wvw-related, the devs set the targets way too high (probably because the white knights they talk to say ’that’s easily achievable in a weekend’). Remember the original yak slapper target? For most players, this pip system feels like that achievement- unreachable.

Other solution: win the fight.

Usually I can tell how the fight is going by whether my toon is dead or not. If I’m dead, usually a lot more than half of my squad are already dead or downed and we’re going to lose the fight. It’s waypoint time.

Of course, I don’t generally play spam 1 tag build so don’t ever see 5-10 bags around my corpse either…

There is no Consume All option for chests, or bags within those chests. You have to double click on every item to open.

I have give or take 5,000 boxes in my inventory. So there are 10,000+ unrewarding clicks looming in my near future. How is that for a good, modern UI design?

You have DLPS. As you must be some sort of dumb to let that many boxes build up in the first place, then come on here and moan about it.

I guess the entitled generation wants even boxes opened for them as it’s too much effort and someone else should pay for it..

Unique Server Armour and Gear

You are suffering from LPS (Lazy Player Syndrome).

All you need is copper matic, one silver matic, and the ecto gambling device (which is effectively a merchant to sell to.

Click open chests, salvage everything in two clicks, sell runes to merchant. Job done. Takes less than ten seconds on a full inventory.

Of course if you’re on a spam 1 server collecting loot like there is no tomorrow then you need to remember to repeat the above more than once an evening.

What is likely to happen now is that Anet will take the OP’s post as saying that there is too much loot in wvw now and they will cut everything by 90%, ruining 99.9% of people’s loot just to cure the Op’s LPS.

I’ve decided I no longer care about pips. I don’t spend enough time in wvw any more (I’m burnt out with the same old rubbish every week) and am playing something else which I am currently enjoying a lot more (as it’s new and fresh to me).

At my current rate of acquisition (10 per week) playing 2-4 hours a week it would take 5+ years to get the backpack. So it’s no longer a target. Why so few, you ask? As I’m scouting, defending etc and it takes quite a while to reach even tier 3 doing that, then my total game time might only be 1hr, so lose a lot of my time before ticks start…

Now I can just relax and enjoy playing again. And enjoy wiping those enemies with their legendary backpacks;-)

A single hit from a staff guard spam 1 skill will tag enemies which you can mindlessly spam and hit most of the enemy zerg- the loot bags just overflow your bags really quickly.

Compared to ele, where you will struggle comparatively to attain 1/3 of the loot. Lots of ele skills won’t earn you a tag on multiple enemies.

Even my necro can’t tag as many as a spam 1 guard.

Conclusion: don’t play staff ele if you want max loot bags.

Its not a 50% dmg reduction but its less dps for sure. Staff just not a dmg wepon it has not been for a long time. The metor nerf was the true death of its dmg. Its a good support wepon now though. Only if they would fix air 2 out of all the staff skills why keep such a weak skill on such a long cast time and long cd is comply beyond me.

Maybe they need us to tell them what needs looking at from a wvw perspective.

Having run around last night on ele in wvw, the blast is somewhat useful but quite tricky to pull off in the heat of battle, as you need to cast ice spike first, then geyser at that spot then hope you got the right spot for the blast to be effective. Do it the other way around and geyser is finished before the spike hits. Overall, you are reliant on someone else placing the field to be blasted.

Fire 2 change is quite useful sometimes.

All in all, staff ele just doesn’t feel all that useful in wvw any more with the huge condi piles and massive spike damage. Having to stand still while meteor shower channels isn’t much fun- what other class has to do that for such a feeble skill? Imagine if CoR rooted you to the spot for 4 seconds and did 1/3 the damage it now does….

Air 2 is just a joke.

I’m not there for maximum dps. I’m a support ele, so main role is healing and keeping people alive..my water 1 skill heals every hit, so I’m mainly in water. If I play around in fire, etc then sure I’ll tag more people, but it won’t be much use as we’ll all be dead….

And the spike is used in combination with a commanders movements to slow that section of the enemy down that we want to spike. At 4 seconds cool down it was very useful for this, at 6 seconds it’s not that good. It also did decent damage on downed people.

Ice spike was my main tag skill. The changes aren’t going to encourage more people to play ele usefully- we’re just going to see more pve glass eles not knowing how to support the group and running away when the group starts losing ( I already watch eles in wvw, amazing how many are only ever in fire or air, with many not even switching to water when they need a heal…and whilst our people are dying all around them).

If we want more dps, I’m on my necro.

Staff Ele...

Anet think this is a huge boost to staff ele:

Ice Spike: The cooldown of this skill has been increased from 4 seconds to 6 seconds and now causes a blast finisher when the spike lands.
The staff has numerous combo fields but has limited ability to utilize them. Adding a blast finisher to Ice Spike gives another opportunity for staff players to set up their own combos. We have slightly increased the cooldown to compensate for the strength of a blast finisher.

Slightly increased cooldown? That’s 50%!!!!

The only real damage skill on the water bar gets a 50% nerf bat and Anet thinks this is a huge boost….I mean, making it a blast finisher is nice and could be useful but 50% more cooldown on a toon already lacking in any sort of decent auto attack speed skill, not good.

Static field got shrunk so now can be even more easily avoided…

Geyser only got a boost in spvp, not wvw…

It’s quite clear Anet don’t balance for wvw, and we’ll continue to see less and less staff eles in wvw as it’s damage has been nerfed so much (walk through a meteor shower, you might get hit once, and that skill has to be channelled whilst you stand still..).

As a wvw vet, I’ll never get it. Purely because I have a restricted play time during the week (and weekends) these days and because of my play style and class that I play and server that I am on (and q’s at my time that I can play), I generally don’t even complete the second box, so it will be 10-25 tickets a week for me.

If I manage 25 tickets a week that’s 112 weeks- that’s if I manage to complete the second box before it resets and I lose all those pips.

If only I could have been a mindless blobber blobbing and bandwagonning on a spam 1 class…nope.

I’d like the ‘reset each week’ element removed so that it works more like a reward track – but that you can only complete once a week. Might mean you lose out on a few chests if you complete on day one, but at least you finally got through a whole run.

As many have said they play the game mode for the love of it, no vet should have any complaints about this change.

The fact that there is a 250% difference between a gold rank (who probably played as much if not more than the omniblob spam 1 stay in a blob bandwagonner) and top rank in the blobbiest server needs to be addressed at some point (but most likely won’t be).

I’m kinda sitting it out until the q’s die down as I don’t have endless hours to burn waiting in a q. When we start to see outmanned maps again, then I can consider playing as at least if I can stay on outmanned map I’ll earn almost as may pips as the onmiblob bandwagon (even if nowhere near as many shinies or wexp from blob fights).

Simple solution, participation drops to zero if you’re idle for more than 5 minutes or instantly drops to zero if you have determined buff on you. If you afk in spawn now, no loot. If you die and have to respawn, good, you deserve to be punished for being bad and dying in the first place, don’t die.

The bit about not dying or being afraid for their pixels getting hurt is one of the major complaints about pug pve’rs- as soon as there might be a fight of even numbers you can see them running backwards away from the fight practically before it has even begun, guaranteeing you will lose the fight.

If only they could devise a mechanism to impart negative rewards to those that don’t die because they ran away rather than face the enemy. Call it a ‘cowardice debuff’.:-)

The drop off in interest in wvw has already started, q’s are getting smaller and soon we can look forward to seeing an outmanned map again.

I’m not motivated by the new pip system. I’ve played wvw more than most, but due to the classes and roles I play/played, my rank is in the low 2000’s. I feel the new pip system punishes me for having been a scout and a healer, as my buddies who have played a similar amount of time in wvw as me now get 3 more pips a tick ( so 4 or 5 against 7 or, or almost 75% more. So in an average week they can play 20 hours less than me and complete the diamond track.

It’s not really very motivating.

The spread on pips means bandwagon servers get 3 for winning matchups, plus more pips per tick for being on a server that allowed them to tick wexp like it was going out of fashion (large 3 way battles or big blob clashes reward huge amounts of wexp). Those who had/have sparser pickings also get less reward from the pip system- hardly a huge motivator to play.

Yesterday I logged in and it took more than 30 minutes before I even started earning pips (after waiting in q for a few minutes) as i was busy helping the server by scouting and defending rather than running in an omniblob..

New player to game need help!

On top of reward tracks that mimic PvE drops;

Free Tactics (These generally cost 1-3g to make, and your guild might use 3-6 on a reset night and 1-4 on other nights). Saves your guild quite a few gold.
New Siege Decorations, because we all know it’s Siege Wars 2
Transmutation Charges.
Unid dyes are now obtainable in WvW! Now you can dye for more than your server!
We get new skins, even if it takes awhile to earn.
Ascended armor now in a WvW vendor with new skins.
Reacquirable Misforged Weapons in Ascended variety.
New Legendary back item.

The only thing lacklustre is the instant reward track progression (25points, much better if this was doubled), and the pip acquisition balance to reward more active playing (+1 for sentries and camps, +2 for towers, keeps and Stonemist).

Thanks for trying to answer my question, but I dont think it really solve my problem. I earn about 2-3 pips per tick toward that skirmish thing so I average get about 1 Skirmish Chest per hour, and each chest only provide about 60s-80s. The Tactics are worth more but is there anyway i can turn it into gold? As for the ascended armor and back piece, I can only play average of 3 hours a day most so average 20 hours a week, with that time i can only get the wood and bronze chest at most, so i get about 25 tickets a week max, but those armor cost hundreds and full set are in the thousands! If i play 3-4 hours a day everyday, it would still take me almost a full year to get a full set. My friend who do other stuff such as pvp told me rewards for doing other things is a lot more faster and i would be way better trying other game mode. I really like wvw and was just wondering somehow im not doing something. Cause im not gonna lie, i really dont feel a lot of difference in reward before and after the update.

If you are playing wvw for good rewards, then you need to play something else. The new pip system is heavily biased towards those that played on bandwagon servers and tier 1 blob servers or those that ran around EOTM all day, as rank determines most of your available pips. A decent 2000+ ranked player on a lower server gets 4 pips a tick, blob bandwagonner on tier 1 can get 10. As a newbie, the pip system isn’t for you at all.

The rewards from the spvp reward tracks that they copy/pasted to wvw at least mean that you can break even playing wvw, but don’t expect to make much money.

The fluff the other poster listed doesn’t help your finances at all- as you are unlikely to get any of it.

Work on getting about 10 tickets a week and maybe backpack in 4-5 years.

If you are not inTS you don't matter.

I’d recommend that all those that can, to use TS whenever possible. Back when I used to be able to use voice comms in another game I insisted on having every squad leader in TS and as many squaddies as possible, organising 60 man battles against another 60 man guild battles across 3 paths, defence and attack and feints, etc. In fact, it was much more important in that game than it is in the very much simpler combat and tactics that wvw has devolved to.

Most comms will let me join their squads despite not being on ts (even those that advertise as TS only) and even other guild raids will add me as long as I am on my ele or necro, as I will contribute and know what I’m doing and know how most commanders drive.

My favourite comm was on SFR, when I got to know his playstyle so well I could use water 2 skill on the spot he would be attacking so it landed just as he impacted.

Worst problem for most comms isn’t whether pugs are on ts or not, it’s the fact they leave their brains behind when they join wvw.

If you really have a hard on for this gear, and are really kittening about a small group of people who are getting a couple more pips, then just transfer to a low pop server and play outmanned; you’ll get +5. Or, you could try playing, be part of the solution, join the team, get in ts, join a guild, whatever, so that you’re placing 1st and get +2 pips.

Low pop servers are linked: it’s not been possible to find an outmanned map since reset on my server…

Your other solution is basically saying : join a bandwagon server so your placing first. Last time I looked the top 5 EU servers were all ‘full’ so that’s not going to work either.

The only real issue with pips is the spread between average rank and bandwagonned ranks in terms of pips is too large and needs a tweak. that would still give a bonus to higher ranks but not to the extent of 2.5 times more between a mid rank 2000+ and max rank for doing less work.

Skill lag

The problem with lag is it promotes use of passive builds over active. A passive regen type who can spam 1 and maybe get a utility to work wipes the floor with any class that actually needs to use it’s skills to survive.

The problem now if that if you get into one of those fights and might think about switching classes to one that works, you have no chance due to huge queues, so it’s either q up on a class you don’t really like playing or q up on your favoured class and then not be able to use it due to lag.

Hardly a wonderful advert for Anet either way…

Getting a couple extra pips based on rank would be fine, but the current spread is too much given the high ranks are also likely to have bandwagonned to a blob server and have stacked up rewards.

The spread should be a maximum of 4 points for rank, 1 below rank 2000, 2 for 2-6k, 3 for 6k -9999, 4 for max rank.

That would reward the average wvw player on a fair basis- although number of pips for each chest might need adjustment.

As a guide, logged in tonight and saw 30-40 q’s on all BL’s, so didn’t bother as my time is limited. I might complete a wooden box before reset this week.

The disparity between a losing server mid rank (4 points) and a winning server high rank (10 points) isn’t really an encouragement to play.

Most people following a tag would benefit from being in TS. But then again, most people following a tag could learn what positioning is too.

Personally I cannot, for personal reasons (that my guild know about) log into TS. I would love it if I could. Does it make me slightly less effective as a support/healer ele? Probably a little- but then I used to monk in GW1 so the habit of watching the HP bars hasn’t left me, and if you know enough about the game you know when to throw that water field without being told..and after a while the comm will know it will be there without having to ask for it in TS.

The bigger problem is people leaving their brains behind when they enter wvw.

How long will it take to craft Warbringer?

You need 2900 tickets to finish the legendary. Overall it will take 400-500 game hours to finish or 18weeks. Assuming you start from no wxp, by the time you finish the legendary you will be around 500-700rank.The same amount of game time it take to finish other legendaries.

A lot of players are not taking into consideration the loyal pip after 3 weeks of playing on your server and the extra pip you gain after you level to bronze/silver. If a new player only plays 10hrs a week it will take ~12weeks to hit bronze. That will reduce the amount of time you have to play wvw to get the weekly ticket limit.

The problem is that you can not do anything to speed up the process of getting the legendary with the weekly cap of 175 tickets. A-net should make diamond repeatable for ticket. Did Anet do something similar to that for spvp?

The cap is a good thing- it stops those that bandwaggoned and have enjoyed full servers/busy prime times and got high rank plus now have hours and hours of wonderful pips and battles clocking up wvw ranks, compared to those that stayed on their servers and struggled a lot of the time to find 3-4 other players on a map to do something with.

As for the first week, gained 25 tickets- spent most of my available time q’ing for maps then when did get in a lot of people standing afk at spawn and the ‘blob’ contained a lot of pve’rs who turn and run away from any real fight.

When we do get in, generally it’s 4 pips a tick, not the 10 a bandwagon max rank blobber gets- which is already too much of a spread and needs fixing.

I wish I had played spam 1 guard now and run around yawning in EOTM too and farmed kills in OS and bandwagoned rather than stuck to support ele so I could be getting 10 pips instead of 4 too.

My estimate for getting the legendary backpack is: never.

The 175-ticket cap should NOT exist

I reached a grand total of 25 tickets before reset, then I lost 3/4 of the next box.

So yes, please keep the 175 limit weekly it slows down the 200+ rank in a couple days steamrollers in hugely populated servers who clock up pips and ranks like they are going out of fashion.

Maybe they should invert the pips and rank gain based on tier of your server- so playing for a lower tier server rewards more wexp and pips per tick. bandwagonners would still get their extra rank pips and 3 for winning due to their having been on busier servers, whilst those playing on quieter servers (where there is less action a d ranks were a lot harder to come by) would gain a few bonus pips a tick, evening out the system.

Holy Condis Batman!

Anyone who has faced a condi spamming toon (such as thief or necro or mesmer or engi) knows that no matter how much cleanse you bring, sooner or later you find yourself ticking down fast.

Multiply that by 40-50 people, and suddenly you can be hit with 50+ bleeds, numerous burning and loads of other condis which are impossible to remove and down you instantly.

They need to introduce a stack limit on condis in wvw. But then they also need to either give staff ele a faster auto attack or be able to switch weapons but that hasn’t happened either…so don’t hold your breath.

What measure are you going to use to determine who should get higher rewards as a long time WvW player?

Kills? What if you were loyal to your under populated server? How would you punish the OS kill traders?

WxP? How do you distinguish between WxP earned through fights, ktrain, EotM? Which is more worthy?

How about we use Yaks killed as the measure instead?

Just adjust the amount given for rank. Higher rank still gets a higher reward for doing the same thing, but just not as much.

The trouble with however people got rank is people could play in the same match and get wildly different amounts of loot, tags, kill credits and wexp- compare playing a spam 1 guard to, say, a healer ele. Having played both, I can tell you the guard ranks up much faster and gets a LOT more loot fighting in the same battle.

Extra pips for ranks is fine, just needs a tweak as the spread is too many. Currently a blobbing server winning matchup gets 3 pips a tick plus up to 7 for rank, giving ten, whereas someone of reasonable rank (2500)putting in the same effort on a losing server get 1 plus 3= 4.

Two and a half times as much isn’t a good ratio, pips for rank should be brought down to a range of 1 to 3 or 1 to 4.

Think I’m mostly getting 4 pips a tick. So 32 hours a week of wvw for 175.

Realistically after waiting in queues I’ll get about an hour of decent squad time a day if that, so let’s say 10 hours for a full week. I reckon 40 tickets, maybe 50 on a good week.

At that rate I might get the legendary backpack some time in early 2019.

I have ran through the pip ranks completely and can confirm diamond chests do repeat, but they only let you get the tickets for them after the initial 6 diamond chests.

However, you do get increased rewards at the diamond level compared to the lower ones, so i dont see the real problem with the lack of claim tickets. Putting this much time in wvw in a single day is absurd, normally this amount would be 3-4 days (normally 5-6 days a week of wvw for me)

They should reset after you run through the diamond chest, clearly you are cranking out extreme amounts of pips with your high rank and bandwagonned server winning matchups.

The pips for ranks are way too high and reward blob servers and EOTM heroes whilst leaving those who had harder battles, or played on quieter servers, or scouted, or played support rather than spamming 1 mindlessly at the front of the zerg, and less wexp and average ranks (say 2000-4000 ranks) getting less than half the reward per tick: 4 pips per tick compared to 10.

Kinda makes me wish I had followed the bandwagonning guilds and played guard so I could get rewarded for it.

Lower the Rank Requirement for Armor

sorry man 360 hours in 5 years is not a lot…

I’ve been played games for 25 yrs now 500 hrs for me in wvw and I’ve mastered 99% of the game mode, telling me I need to spend another 1500 hrs is ridiculous when I’ve already mastered it after about 50 hrs.

I’ve gotten 20 ranks today in about 4 hours, do the math. It does not take 2000 hours to get 2000 ranks.

5 ranks per hour? 25,000 points an hour? That’s a rank every 12 minutes. Can we all move to your server and you can tell us how you did it, and will continue to do it for the next 2000 ranks.

Most people are lucky to rank up once an hour, or even less on quieter servers before today.

I’m on about 2300 ranks after 5 years of playing- but then I didn’t spend all my time spamming 1 at the front of the choo choo train and scouted, flipped camps and generally play in quieter times.

Even in peak times 2 to 3 ranks an hour is extremely rare.

Realistically 2000 ranks will take most people at least 1000 hours, and probably double that.

Been looking at how these work.

You get 3 for winning, 1 for losing, 2 middle server.

A mid ranked wvw player (up to 2600 rank or so) gets 3 pips, an EOTM leveller gets 7 (or just those that got high rank by tagging everything and never scouting on high traffic servers).

So someone on a middle rank gets 4 pips every 5 minutes. Someone who was on a busy server (bandwaggoner) or a winning stacked server gets 10.

Based on 100 pips for a chest, 7 chests. Middle rank needs around 2.2 hours of constant participation (not always easy to get on lower servers) compared to under an hour for stacked EOTM high rankers.

Seven chests: middle ranker has to play EVERY night for at least 2.2 hours (more likely 3 to 4 ) to have any hope of getting through the rewards before they reset. If they can get into wvw that night.

EOTM bandwaggoner needs less than 7 hours and can likely finish all whole pips in a couple days. if they can get into wvw that night.

That’s assuming there is 100 pips a chest- with my server is now q’s 50-80 deep I don’t have any way of checking that.

Given that the rewards are much better at the top end you can already see the bandwagon effect with 5 EU servers now showing ‘full’ (and more to follow).

I’d suggest next time Anet design something for wvw they ask wvw players what they think of it before bringing it in.

It needs a tweak or two on the pips side as the ranks pips is way too much of a spread and the 1,2,3 for winning or losing also needs looking at. There should be a much smaller gap overall otherwise it’s bandwagon city.

But they would all need to be logged in at once, so 5 machines just to run a ‘squad’….

We still do not know how big of an effect it will be but its also to reward the dedicated wvwer that have been lacking rewards for sometime now. I just hope their are new runes./sigil and armor stats for the wvw armors like sage gear.

Sadly it will just reward those who were on busier servers and those that k-trained in EOTM for ranks, rather than the dedicated wvw’rs who might only make one rank in a session.

My main concern is that you lose all progress at the end of a match up each week- unlike a progress bar on a pvp reward track, which stays there forever.

It’s going to be very annoying being one pip short of completing a bar at the end of a match up, and then people will work out that if they ain’t done by a certain day they won’t make it and won’t bother. Some might not even make a whole bar in a week, so be forever at none completed.

Progress needs to carry over week to week, otherwise scouts/roamers etc will be badly penalised.

It didn’t sound too bad, until they added in:

I mean, wtf? So if I am one pip short of a full track during the week, I lose all progression and have to start over? Who thinks that is a good idea?

People who don’t play wvw all that often could log in Tuesday, look at progression, work out they aren’t going to finish the track before reset and just not bother logging in.

As for more rewards for higher ranks, way to feed all those that EOTM’d to gain rank or those on the busiest servers….

I can see dozens of tags on each map as you get more for being a comm- and fights over who is supposed to tag up. I’m guessing they consulted one of their pet commanders before bringing in a bonus for a comm tag…

Why don’t they at least ask some wvw players about these changes before they fester them on us?

It’s now official: k- train ftw. I can see loads of pve’rs running around tagged up and completely clueless…until they realise how hard it is to actually get anything in wvw and off they will go again.

I’m guessing that the actual targets for getting the armor and backpack will be so off target (like wvw achievements were for years) that the vast majority will have to play for the rest of their lives to get one piece of ascended.

Are you talking about roaming guilds or 4-5 man teams consisting of cancer thiefs with engi /ranger support insta-downing solo people as they try to make their way back to the fight?

I tend to find those an annoyance and just avoid them, tell other people not to feed them and they will get bored and move.

Roaming guilds, on the other hand, are great. As long as they are not just running thiefs with support and actually want to engage other roaming guilds. Small scale fights are great fun.

It’s the condi bombers and the new epidemic which needs more calculation than the old version plus the new elite adds huge calculations too.

They don’t consider wvw when they ‘balance’ patch- we just get to suffer the results.
