I thought the point of WvW was to buil community on the servers.. constantly swapping out half the “community” doesn’t feel like it’s working towards that goal. :p

That died when anet killed small guilds. Community made wvw and the small guilds that where the back bone of many servers back then, all gone now. No rivals, no competition, nothing. Nearly every tier is a blow out with one server being the mega power.

yes killing the small guilds is a reality if you don’t want to spend your own super hours of time and/or money. I just finished cleaning out my 3 guild vaults and am preparing to remove the last few people and disband it by leaving it myself. I’ve joined a bigger one and frankly don’t seem to have a use for what was a growing guild at one point.

All of the WvW buffs and stuff I had worked to hard to build up poofed away with HoT.. in order to get them back of course it would have meant claiming a GH and building it up… Yep, definitely making me mentally iller…. :P

What if I’m already mentally ill? Will GW2 make me better? hmmm… maybe!!

sadly for the first time in a long time I experienced some nasty lag tonight. It wasn’t just me either.. I watched other people pop around the screen.. many times I hit skills and watched as I died waiting for them to kick in.. arg… after about an hour it seemed to clear up though… still..arg..

I HATE this 4 server team up… I don’t hate the people.. I just don’t like it any better than our opponents do… I have no idea how they came up with this 4 vs 3 vs 2 matchup…. ‘cause it’s not a match… :P Although we still do get to have some good fights here and there.

lol… yes that’s true… it’s trivial at best I’m sure… but after the 5th time of just pleading to be given the information and access needed… ugh.. ok let’s delete this thing… it’s making me tired already.. :P

This is the 5th time I have tried to join a squad’s teamspeak since this link up started with CD.. Hey I even got into the Crystal Desert TS in the lobby.. Then spent the next 5 minutes asking and asking which channel… “The biggest one” I’m told.. only problem was there were two pretty much the same size… and nobody’s name I saw matched the commanders tag in the game.

NEVER did these freaking issues occur before this linkup garbage happened. I mean a group with 30 people and nobody could give the channel?

Like I said, this is the 5th time now and well.. frankly I will just go roam camps and run havoc when friends are online… Maybe tag along pugging silently now and then.. Heck I’m only Gold level so I don’t know much yet but learning slowly…

Yes, I ranted and whined… and maybe this isn’t the right spot? I’m not sure, but once again this is clearly an example of people not knowing each other anymore and the main group at the time (not a guild group this time) simply ignoring a request from someone who wanted to do more than just tag along ..

3. How will repair hammers work? The current design is that you will be able to purchase the repair hammer from the tricks and traps vendor. When you consume the hammer it will replace your weapon skills with 1 skill that allows you to repair any siege. If you drop the hammer or die you will need to consume another repair hammer to use the repair hammer skill.

Will supply be required? If so will it repair the siege proportional to the supply used?

It’s a little confusing because the above indicates that it would just be a thing you purchase and consume…. but the poll page says it would use supply… :P

Hey! I know! Why just stop at spamming siege and repairing it while hiding behind a structure!

We can build on this whole idea of winning the game without needing to fight at all!

Let’s introduce farms and medical centers! Some players would have to level Ag specialty and tend to the fields in order for other players to have access to food!

Other players would need to level up medicine as a craft while injured players would have to spend a set amount of time on injury leave! Be careful! Too many low level medic crafters and you’ve got gangrene or MRSA!

Maybe we could create an operations center where people could role play logistics, delivery and supply management! Better have Grand Master Administrators or your supply and map rewards just vanish into thin air!

Wait wait! I know! Hedge fund management! We could just outspend our enemies and impoverish them with unreasonable treaties!

These ideas keep rolling out guys!

How about automatic siege! Set it up then walk away and see which siege wins.

I got killed by about 15 YB near OW.. no big deal… 15 to 1.. easy kill.. and I watched them as they took the tower… oh wait! It wasn’t just YB.. it was JQ as well… At they ran over my dead body I counted no less than 40 JQ running WITH the YB group amongst them. They weren’t fighting… they were working together.. By the time I picked my jaw up off of the desk I realized I didn’t even hit record. Seriously? JQ needs that? YB needs that? I have to say I’ve heard of these things but it’s the first time I’ve seen two servers really running TOGETHER like this.

You sure about that? I’ve ran some groups that will let one group break into something and then we end up wiping them the second they do to take it for ourselves. Vulturing, it’s a thing.

In DAOC, you could get realm abilities ONLY in RvR, but they were useful everywhere, in PVE and RvR…if you wanted to make top crafter, you had to go to most far keep in your realm because only there top tier crafts could be done…goal of RvR was to steal enemy relics that would give 10% or 20% boost to magic or melee damage…both to RvR and PVE (making doing dungeons easier for realm golding relics, but at same time, your realm became target of other 2 realms, so you could not enjoy your bonuses without been forced to defend them 24h/day…that made healthy community where some guilds would defend realm while others would farm pve for equipment)

PVE was done purely to equip yourself for RvR

When my group of 8 would wipe 96 people, everyone on both sides would see endless deathspam in form

“xxx just killed yyy in Emain Macha” repeated 96 times, and make you proud and zerg laughed at

etcetc, I could find a lot of more good ideas (and some not so great, but all games have them )

also there was 1vs1 (dueling), 8vs8 (groups) and zerg vs zerg warfare in theater big enough to not interfere much (and quite often 8vs8 peope would, for example, let duel guys finish duel before killing winner, or even let him go)

If I had actually had a real choice I would have chosen to permanently merge with another server and not do this linking, relinking thing.. I didn’t like the idea from the beginning and I was one of the people that was saying this kind of thing would most likely happen.. and now it has. oh my… yes this is a pain.. but seriously what about the people that just stand around at spawns almost everywhere these days and in the citadels and keeps.. Not crafting of course… just standing doing nothing. Happens a LOT more than it did before this reward thing came into play….

Asgard I feel your pain from the other side. The server I’m on is linked with 3 other servers. We barely have to blink and we are killing the other two linked groups. Borrrrrring… I don’t care even a tiny bit about the score or ranking since you get absolutely nothing for winning a week. But I do care about seeing things so lopsided that I know the other guys must be disillusioned as well. This past week I’ve probably gone into wvw for a total of 2, maybe 3 hours… used to be a couple hours a day. Frankly I’m pretty much to the point where I don’t care period.. I go in to have some fun with a few friends then leave.. meh.

That would be an awesome April 1st item!

I have some fun occasionally… for the most part I find most of WvW boring and pointless except when maybe I’m doing guild missions.. or running in FA with the guild group I’m with there having field fights. Those times are fun running with people I know, when they’re online. Otherwise, the days of roaming, defending etc are long gone for me.. Most of WvW is pretty much junked imo now.

Sorry Jim… but without some sort of actual reward for winning.. who really cares? At this point WvW is really just about the fights and hopefully having fun having the fights… The points? They are really worth nothing.. they benefit nobody, the winner gets nothing except some sort of bragging rights.. meh..

Maybe ANet removed the crafting stations really so that people wouldn’t use them as an excuse to stand around and collect reward points.. Yep, instead of that MANY people just stand around in keeps and spawn points collecting points. I see more people now than ever just standing around doing nothing.. In the keeps they will do this unless or until somebody attacks. Once in a while go outside and run around like being useful then come back in.. I watched in amusement last night as no less than 20 people stood around our Keep (FA / SoR linked EB doing nothing. Oh yes I was doing nothing as well of course, other than watching to see what would happen. Some were complaining about the lack or organization.. lol… (Note: from what I’ve experienced FA rocks with organized fighting)

After 20 minutes I logged out after observing that most of them were still there.. doing what they were doing when I got in.. zzzzz.. so sad…

World linking has gone a LONG way to causing my game play to drop significantly. I’ve said it before in here and will say it again… my WvW has gone from about 95% of my time in this game to maybe 50%. My time in GW2 has gone from about 20 hours a week to probably 5. This is directly due to the linking. Not whining, not taking shots.. just is what it is. I’m just not happy much in this game anymore.

There truly isn’t an incentive to win any week (not that there ever was since there never was a reward for winning).. but now that we don’t have a set home server any more we mostly just run around doing what we want for guild missions and maybe some havoc then head off. I’ve never seen more people standing around in keeps and spawns than I do now (since this reward thing started)… and yet they removed the crafting stations so people wouldn’t stand around? roflmao.. just makes me laugh.. I never used them but almost never saw people at them either.

On my alt account on FA last night some people were complaining in EB that FA was disorganized. Huh? Well the FA people I know are very organized… oh wait.. there’s another server attached.. could it be possible that people still feel disjointed and not really a “part” of the home server?

After all is said and done, the little that was done has caused a lot to be said, and a lot of good people to just stop caring.

ANet if you even read these things anymore I hope you’re coming up with a permanent solution that doesn’t involve world linking… because from what I see (with almost all my friends) it has seriously caused a LOT of us to spend a lot less time in WvW!

Comparing EoTM to any part of WvW really is just funny… ya ok you use siege and cap things… with big groups of pve people that take ignorant shots at each other constantly.. multiple tags saying that the other tag sucks.. and so on and so on.. It’s NOT a training ground for WvW… and if it was ever intended as some sort of entertainment for true WvW people while they were waiting for a queue it fell far short. The only real fun I ever had in EoTM was when we took 15 people in there and wiped enemy zergs.. nothing like a little organized fighting… then again it wasn’t really even sport. Kind of like shooting fish in a barrel.

I strayed from the topic though… using EoTM as part of WvW? Definitely not without real major changes to it.. which would simply mean they would basically build a whole new borderland.. oh wait they did… enter DBL… very soon once again, yay!

The thing is,there;s limited amount of players that can join each map,and someone joining WvW just for the crafting stations might become the reason that a player that actually wants to do WvW stays out waiting in queue.

hmm.. did you see my note up a few notes? I see a lot more people standing around doing NOTHING at spawns and Citadel than I ever did at any crafting stations in WvW. I waited for a long time to get into EB the other night only to find a bunch of people doing nothing at the EB spawn.. and even more doing nothing in the Keep but standing around… While other people were out fighting the zergs. I watched as calls went ignored by these people… Please don’t try to tell me that any crafting station usage could possibly compete with these afk deadbeats…. :P

The NA queues aren’t bad at all.. maybe in T1 and T2 they might be? I don’t know I’m not up there… but when I was with the first round of linking it still wasn’t bad except on reset nights.. so at the end of the day despite some of the people spitting venom at the crafters.. they were NOT a problem in my opinion.

OK this whole thing about the crafting stations makes me laugh big time. Every time today that I went into ANY spawn including EB I saw no less than 8 people just standing around doing nothing… NOTHING… other than gathering reward points maybe?

Ah. I definitely have all chats on at all times. With 4 tags on the map I was looking for even just one response. I believe I have the Kain ts. Possibly the cd one in an email. But not much sense popping in and out of ts’s trying to figure out which ts is run by which tag. I’m not new to wvw. 2370wxp so been around a lot. Sorry but I’m not sure why I’m having such an issue. I am so used to being able to come on to a map and be given some info real quick so I can get into the right spot. This silence is killing me.

Sure I can just grab onto a tag and pug along on the tail but that’s not my style. I like to PLAY this game and following a zerg blindly doesn’t work for me.

So many of these “tips” are outdated and wrong. No I don’t need to list them. ANet should please go in and make the appropriate updates so that people have current information to go on. imho

Not sure about Eotm relating to real wvw much other than a basic feel for some of the mechanics. I stopped going in there ages ago due to basically trash talk most of the time and really a complete lack of real organization other than blobbing. There is no strategy in there other than to cap, let people cap so you can recap and so on. At best it’s worse than a dead BL. imo

So far I don’t see a compelling argument against the 2/1 BL split. I don’t agree that it will be this big disadvantage to anyone. If anything it could be an advantage if some people decide to boycott it. I know my groups will go into them and paint them with our colours… so while some of the folks are staying away and whining… we will own their land.

In TS if it’s just the commander talking (even with an accent) I can hear and follow just fine. If multiple people are talking then all I hear is muddle.. bad muddle. yes it was on DH, not CDBL. It’s all good… hopefully we’ll all get to know each other sooner than later. I saw chatter but never in response to my posts, (and there were a handful of them when needed…. at least when I thought they would be useful).

I’m learning that when a big group is running they aren’t concerned really about much except what’s in front of them. Unless it’s one of our Keeps that needs some help that is. Other objectives appear to be “karma” farm items and are ok to flip back and forth (kinda like eotm). Am I right or am I missing something?

What we have here as a discussion, is about a lost convenience for people that use GW2 for WvW and PVE. For those using only WvW, they impose their selfishness on a service that was not really affecting them, This is a myth., to be consumed by fools.
The real reason for the change is that ANet wants to make more money with their inconvenient airpass system.
For those WvW that only do WvW, you will get this, as a thank you note from many of those that play both worlds, we’ll come less often or stop coming.
What is your benefit: Guild crowds that will ravage your maps and much less peoples to defend and scout.
Scouting and fixing camp problems, killing Dolyaks, guards etc is a thankless job and is done often by people hopping in to clean the maps and restore services. This is what is being degraded here. So, full time WvW, let me tell you this: You will suffer from being so obtuse, sooner or later and I hope you enjoy your empty maps.
WvW is up for the Slow Death, as simple as that. Anybody doing PVE, knows very well that we can make far more gold and having far more interesting drops in PVE than in WvW. Anybody running any outfit needing traffic knows this basic truth: ‘you need to attract peoples for success, not make their life more miserable’. It is easy to understand that if one is in a spot, waiting for a dragon to appear for example and having some free time , that they use in WvW to clean their bags, to clean up a few camps and maybe a tower and go back to the dragon fight, as an example, they won’t bother to come anymore, this is what the short-sighted get. Same applies to commanders whispering for help, they will be much more likely to be ignored.

I agree with this. Even though I never crafted in WvW many of the people I run with in WvW would stop to craft things they needed during ‘down’ times etc. I hardly ever saw more than a couple people at the crafting stations, let alone a bunch. The times that I went to these stations for anything at all was to get into my bank.. super convenient!

Now seriously due to a few people and ANet’s believing that this was actually a problem causing thing.. we have lost these very useful to WvW people items!!! sheesh.

World PvP is not about killing people. It is about objectives. Killing people is a method through which you claim objectives. If you are causing other players to run away, you are winning. If you want to play a game mode where killing is people is the primary focus, that is what Conquest is for. It is designed to funnel players in to very small spaces and force them to stay there to gain progress and rewards.

WvW is not designed for what you seem to think it is.

“Roaming” is just a fancier way of saying “I want to gank people and don’t care about contributing to my team.”

Scouts contribute to teams. They scout. It often means actively avoiding fights. Roamers just waste ques in an effort of find lopsided fights to stroke their egos, and complain when things don’t go their way.

WvW (and GW2 in general for that matter) is not designed around 1v1 fights. Attempting to make it so, then complaining the experience is lackluster is willful denial of the game you’re playing.

If you’re going to do something the game wasn’t designed to do in the first place, don’t complain that the thing you’re doing is poorly balanced.

You don’t understand roaming if that’s what you think it’s only about. When I am Roaming I am NOT looking for players to fight. I am taking camps, taking back camps, taking out sentries so our zergs can go places with less detection. If I have even one person with me then we are hitting and taking towers where we can as well.. Maybe tagging keeps to distract the enemy for our zerg… and so on.

THIS is what WvW is about, and THAT is what Roaming is really about. PvP roamers don’t have any place in WvW in my opinion… but true Roamers that do what I listed above are not only good to have, but very valuable to the commander on the map.

Agree with RodOfDeath. One reason I don’t get into roaming more is that it just looks so boring and lame. Roll the thief or condi mesmer and go gank people running to the zerg or taking a sentry. Just not my thing, but I guess it works for some people.

If you think about it, who in the real world has this behavior? kitten , pedophiles, serial killers and the like. I think that’s kind of telling. Just saying.

You play in WvW and take a shot at serial killer… oh for shame.. leave those poor guys alone… let them roam in peace. Now where was my roaming build….

So we are linked with 3 other servers. I see commanders running the BL’s and not typing in the message box so they are definitely in TS. Three times now I have asked for the TS channel and received zero responses. Joining the squad isn’t much use when 99% of the communication is in TS. In EB I tried to join a squad that was closed so couldn’t of course. Joined the other squad and asked a couple times what TS they were using with no response…. So I have to ask.. is it because I’m not in the ‘right’ server that no response is coming? or is it just bad luck last night? Sadly it seems like the groups are staying tight to their server lines for the most part. So I roamed a lot… then I saw messages complaining that people were roaming and should be on tag… chuckle ah what do you do? I continued to roam of course..

Oh my goodness! I’m Kaineng (Owl Legion) and a TS admin – please message me in game Balth, I’ll watch out for you when I’m on. You are more than welcome to run around with us and join our TS anytime. By the way we will never berate folks for roaming; Roaming = Life.
