I lead a simple life when it comes to inventory management. If it is not exotic and can be salvaged, it is and the mats sent to the collection tab in the bank. Rare upgrades are sold off on the TP with any mat overflow. Junk and masterwork upgrades are sold to merchant NPCs. It’s not rocket surgery.
RIP City of Heroes
Yes but you are overlooking full ticket drops. Yes they are like 1 in 50 chests but that drops the overall average per ticket down to around 1 in 20. So that drops it down to 320 chests per set or around $336. Of course there are periodic sales on keys, 20% off that would lower the monetary price even further.
Still more costly than any other gemstore set except for those that weren’t available for tickets in a really long time.
How pray tell is it the most expensive set if it’s only one ticket each? That’s the cheapest they can be.
RIP City of Heroes
Yes, binomial distribution can mean you have, out of 50 at 2%, a 36.4% chance of getting none. But it also means you have a 26.4% of getting more than 1.
RIP City of Heroes
There is a lot of players where 2 g a day IS a lot. They haven’t learned the lessons on how to get the maximum value from the loot they get as well as how to save what little gold they have. They don’t realize that simply clear cutting and strip mining mid level zones and selling those mats can make a fair bit of coin. This is especially true with their first character.
RIP City of Heroes
As an old player I completely disagree with this and hope that Anet reintroduces more skins that are no longer available.
Seconded by another old player
thirded by another oldie

I feel gems are too expensive for 800, It should be more like 800 for $5.00 for the price of items in the store. Would you rather get more gems for your money or have items charge much less in the store. I know in AOC, I spent more money to spend in the stores because the cost was cheaper. Do you feel you would buy more if the cost went down?
This is what I was taught by one of my bosses that owned a sub shop. He used fresh steak cut from roasts every other day. Pizza dough made up every morning. Three cheeses on the pizzas, you would think that having top grade ingredients would cut too much into his profits. The subs were maybe 15 cents more for the steak and crab cakes. but because the were a good price and were great, more sold. This placed hopped daily and he made bank.
I feel if the gems were twice as many for the $10.00(1600), they would sell more. Or if the store dropped everything by half the cost of gems people would buy more.
Instead of the I love both dresses, which do I choose, its now I will get both and more because I feel I am over charged I will only get something if I am dying to get it, as if it was cheaper, all impulse buying would go ahead. Or I am nuts.
It’s been that price since the game’s launch. Since the purpose of the cash bought gems is to provide cash flow for the game and that hasn’t changed, why would they feel the need to reevaluate that ratio, 80 gems for $1€/0.85£ (note the Euro and Pound price includes a baked in 20% value added tax)? Did it suddenly become less expensive to develop and run the game?
And while true that there is a maximum for price x volume of sales, they do tweak this via weekly sales. We would likely never see an across the board sale, as in everything is X% off nor will we ever see a standalone discount on gems. Either of those would make me worry about the remaining life of the game.

LS2 is 20% off when bought in bulk (all your missing episodes) from the TP rather than one at a time from the story screen.

12th or the 26th is my guess. 12th is 12 weeks after last one which was 12 weeks after the one before that. 26th would be 26 weeks after the winter one.
Roll randomly.

MMOs are not one-player games.
No, MMOs are games where you can choose to play with other players than just soloing.
And other than raids, dungeons and fractals, the entire game is soloable so … not really a lack of content.
RIP City of Heroes
Well if GW2Efficiency represents a fair sample of players, the median (50% above/below) wallet gold is 115 gold. Even the 4000-4500 hour player median is just under 300 gold.
I think it’s unlikely GW2Efficency is a fair sample of players. You have to sign up to the site to be included, which means it’s mainly going to be people who see acquiring gold and valuable items as one of their goals and want to know how they’re doing at it and they’re likely to have more gold than most people. I’d bet the majority of players haven’t even heard of it, particularly the ones who just log in, play with their friends or solo and never visit the forums or follow the game in other ways.
But that’s the problem with trying to collect this type of data. It’s always going to only include a small sample of people and that sample may not be representative. The same is true of this topic as a whole. Even if everyone on the forum replied that only tells you what the type of people who visit the forum do.
Of course Anet have access to all the data. But they don’t share it with us.
Well 100K accounts isn’t all that small. But onto your point, if GW2Efficiency is used primarily for players who are interested in seeing their wealth, then the “low” amount of wallet gold really shows that 500 gold isn’t a paltry amount.
RIP City of Heroes
Go with Intel one.

Agree, and the step by step instruction guild is nice as well.

oh, i’ve seen that, and it is very poorly done. nearly worthless.
the reason is that you do not have a clear picture of what it takes on the three precursor weapons. none at all. for example, try to go there and tell me what it actually takes to get the leaf of kudzu I. i will tell you:
just for the stave, it takes 20 spiritwood planks. but what does that REALLY mean in terms of sheer materials?
softwood: 2 logs make one plank. you need 20 planks per spiritwood plank. so you need 40 logs for one spiritwood plank, or 800 logs for all 20.see what i mean?
800 softwood logs
600 seasoned wood logs
1200 hard wood logs
20 ectoplasm
200 thermo regents
100 memories of battle
100 shards of glory
3000 elder logsnowhere on your list does it show that i need 3000 elder wood logs to make leaf of kudzu I.
my list shows the total root materials needed. much more valuable.
It’s available from the wiki. In the recipe box that lists the four items for the Mystic Forge you need, there is a like “show base ingredients” which brings up the above link and a detail breakdown of the lowest base materials needed with their near current high bid.

1st reply asked for that and they haven’t been willing to share so …
And yes the FX-4xxx series was designed to target the i3 series, being a CPU that can run 4 threads simultaneously but only has two FPUs. Sadly AMD marketing had other ideas.
RIP City of Heroes
It certainly had an impact on the gold to gem exchange rate.
RIP City of Heroes
Start a new character and play it a bit to get until you get use to the changes before revamping your existing characters.

July 12th will be 12 weeks since the last one which was the gap between Winter and Springs quarterly update. July 26th would be 26 weeks after the Winter quarterly update.
The only “official” statement about LWS3 was it would come after the last part of the raid wing got pushed.
And MO stated before the April quarterly update that they weren’t going to do the whole hype train thing they did with HoT for that update so it’s possible that the only hype we get is a week, maybe two before it goes live. How much additional damage was done to HoT by first working the player base into a frenzy with the constant hype train.
RIP City of Heroes
Well, the FX- series of CPUs aren’t all that much faster (you can’t compare clock speed across different CPU designs).
Run GPU-Z and post a screen shot while the game is running.

Oh good, thought it was just me.

It went up in early May due to the recipe change for squares. No real change in the last month other than it’s daily cycle. except possibly a slight downward trend on average.

If they really meant quarterly, then the next update is either in 2 or 4 weeks, I’m wagering the later.

Those Dye Kits are almost always a 24% chance for (shadow was much higher) so it’s not all that unlikely to not get one of the special dyes from just two tries.
And Luck doesn’t make a difference.

It is your opinion that HoT didn’t meet your personal expectations. Please don’t presume to speak for the rest of us.
they objectively couldn’t deliver what they have promised.
The expansion was supposed to come out with a full raid and a set of new legendaries out of the box. So many months in, new legendaries got outright canceled and the raid is only getting finished right now.
Nope, they never said out of the box.
RIP City of Heroes
That’s a graph showing the trend of the exchange rate. This one is Gold to Gems but Gems to Gold tracks with it.
Holding on to excess gems is your choice. Just be aware that converting Gold to Gems and back to Gold will be a loss unless you converted back when Gold to Gems was much, much cheaper.

They aren’t holding anything to release against Legion. It makes no sense to joust against that 800 lbs gorilla in the first place and in the second, the quarterly updates come quarterly.
A quarter is roughly 13 weeks but ANet tends to publish a patch every two so say 12 to 14 weeks, 84 or 98 days.
Winter Quarter Update was Jan 26th, the Spring Quarterly was April 19th which was 12 weeks later. Now that would put the Summer Quarterly around July 12th or 26th. Legion is due at the end of August so likely at least a month before Legion.

It looks as if the 32-bit client is crashing after it starts up the 64-bit client successfully. Also if I force just the 32-bit client it’s fine as well. It’s just during the post start up of the 64-bit one.
Anyone else seeing this?
Edit: Yes I did send in the crash report.

And it’s a matter of asset dev-hours between doing an outfit and an armor set. They have only so many of these to “spend” and if they can do a dozen or more outfits, each for 700 gems a year Vs two to four armor sets at 800 gems, what makes more economical sense? That’s the reason they limited armor sets to expansion content now. It’s too much of a resource hog to make.
RIP City of Heroes
So who made/sent the hero-tron quad copter to you guys?
RIP City of Heroes
They vaguely warn you by listing “unique” in the area of the item popup devoted to equip limitations like “soulbound” and “account bound”. A common definition of unique is one of.
Yes they could have done a better job.
RIP City of Heroes
Do we really need a “oh no, not another outfit” thread every time. They’ve said that’s what we are going to get from now on in the store. They’ve said that armor sets take a whole lot more work to do which is why we don’t see them in the store anymore.
Fine, I know there’s a segment who hate them. You are always going to hate. We get it. But I find them fine for leveling.
RIP City of Heroes
The game uses multiple cores but, like all software, becomes capped at the speed one thread can execute so instructions per second is important. On the other hand there are enough threads to keep more than two physical cores busy so a true quad core like the i5 is better than an i3 with it’s two physical cores but four logical cores because of hyperthreading.
RIP City of Heroes
I think you need to look at it with a healthy dose of perspective. A.Net is not a publicly traded company tasked with maximizing return on equity to shareholders. It’s a private company owned by millionaire veterans of the game industry that want to run a company that they like working at – and if that resembles a kindergarten classroom of passionate artists and designers doing what they love, then so be it.
Except ArenaNet is wholly owned by a holding company that is wholly owned by a publicly traded company. I’m sure they got a really good deal from the point of view of control and retained IP ownership when they sold themselves to NCSOFT in 2002 but they are assuredly NOT privately owned. And while they don’t answer directly to shareholders, they will be reminded that the game needs to either maintain or grow its player base as well as be profitable at least on paper, at some minimal level, to keep those at the mothership in Seoul happy.
Other than that point I agree with you. They are developing entertainment, not an office application. It’s not just programming, it’s story and scripting and 3D Models and animation and music and foley and voice overs. It’s developing tools that non-programmers can use to build events and create AI (http://www.gdcvault.com/play/1021848/Building-a-Better-Centaur-AI). And sometimes in this process what gets created turns out not to be fun to play and parts or all will be scraped to go in a different direction. That’s bound to tick some off, having weeks or even months of work set aside.
RIP City of Heroes
The game isn’t raid centric, it’s just that the raid development and release schedule started well before HoT’s launch and was small enough to be released every 3 months. But HoT’s issues set the rest of ANet back on their heals. That set them scrambling to fix issues while LSW3 got delayed while they reconsidered what went wrong.
RIP City of Heroes
Gee the semi-regular post about Glassdoor reviews where people use it as proof that ANet is failing. That’s been happening since the game launched.

Well since I couldn’t even get here immediately after the disconnect seems to imply an issue with DNS or their ISP.
RIP City of Heroes
There are no failed event rewards, only rewards from rerunning the event in short order and farming the critters that spawn for it.
RIP City of Heroes
It’s usually not failing is more rewarding but that the event resets quickly to farm again.
Now from a design aspect, a quickish reset for a multi event meta makes sense so you can try it again to move on to the next, the ultimate goal is getting to the end of the meta for the bigger reward. The design presumption is that players WANT to get to the end of the meta.
Now the two fixes for failure abuse is either bumping the reset timer up so the loot/hour is less attractive and those players abusing it move onto something else or you eliminate drops (and possibly XP) from the event spawned mobs and improve the reward for completion but with some participation tracking so leechers don’t crash the last minute for rewards.
It’s not that it’s a bad design, it’s that the devs expect players to listen to their better angels.
RIP City of Heroes
Only thought it was one way low to high.
RIP City of Heroes
I make a good “living” buying armor off the TP and salvaging them for mats. And it’s not that RNG when salvaging in large quantities as the output is fairly predictable.
RIP City of Heroes
And of course on map complete you get a fabulous prize … well you’ll get something, even a chance for a Black Lion key.
RIP City of Heroes
And it’s easy and free to promote now. Just be careful not to promote all of them, sometimes it’s good to have a few of the lower tier around.
RIP City of Heroes
Dragonite isn’t an issue with me but bloodstone dust which I have over 45 stacks of. I’m roughly 2/3rds the way through crafting Mawdrey but stuck at fighting the dragon minion in LWS2 at the Pale Tree.
That said getting Princess was fun, well except the one in Lion’s Arch in the JP. JPs are rarely easy for me.
RIP City of Heroes
I would imagine different skins locked behind various game modes but the functionality be available from other game modes in the future, once they get it worked out for raiders.
RIP City of Heroes
Honestly, if you don’t care for raids then don’t do them. I have plenty to do as a “casual” player that I haven’t really tried yet and I’ve been here since Dec 1, 2012. With the fixes to HoT, I can look forward to finally play those maps even though I pre-ordered HoT and only scratched the surface enough to unlock gliding and working toward auto-loot.
PvE non-raid content is coming and will likely be out with the July quarterly patch. I’m not upset at ANet for first fixing many of the issues with HoT first.
RIP City of Heroes
Then what’s next? Legendary weapons? Ascended weapons and armor? No, you have to equip harvesting tools just like armor and weapons. You can’t use them out of your inventory and that’s what shared slots are, shared INVENTORY slots.
This was one of the first things players wanted when shared inventory slots first came out.
