Guilds exist cross-server, meaning that if you move to a different server your guild will exist on the original and the new server together. However, all of the influence, upgrades, and banked items/gold that were earned on the original server will remain there while the new server will need to start from scratch. Think of it as the original server is your HQ and each additional server is a separate office.

My only advice is to start with a character that can’t achieve perma speed buff. Otherwise, you’ll hate every other character you play.

What sort of responses were you looking for? This comes across as a statement thread…not a discussion thread. Sorry, but it doesn’t feel as if you were looking for responses but rather just wanted to state your opinion and offer a way for the devs to contact you if they wanted to (good luck with that btw).

Other than that, I agree…it’s near the Goldilocks Zone as far as I’m concerned.

It’s worthwhile to note that it doesn’t matter if you played GW1 at all, you can get the stone for this from a vendor in Lions Arch.

Mostly true…you don’t need to have played GW1 but you need to have at least owned it as well as the Eye of the North expansion in order for this merchant to have the stones available for purchase. Otherwise, he just has cooking mats.

Parked my main as soon as I hit 80 with full exotics. Leveled 2 more characters to 80 and still haven’t toughed my main or either of the other two 80s either. Already working on my 4th and 5th alt, which to me is much more fun than playing a level capped character but that’s just my opinion of course.

Either way, nothing to be afraid of…it’s just a game.

Sorry, I confused my answer with a little bit of Cracked Armor…so GummiBear has it correct…Vulnerability doesn’t reduce armor but rather increases direct damage and doesn’t affect condition damage.

Why is this an exploit? Not saying that it isn’t but curious as to why you think so.

The 2nd section (Stats) is what contains the level & bound aspects so if you don’t transfer those over and the new item isn’t soulbound then that sound more like how it’s suppose to work.

It HAS to be option #2. Just think about it; if it were option 1, you would have situations where you could be playing on, say, Tarnished Coast, log off for the night, and then try and log back on in the morning only to see that you’ve been moved to the Sanctum of Rall server because TC is currently full. Obviously that doesn’t happen, so it has to be option #2.

This is why you can have servers with a listed population of High or Full, but if you transfer to it, it’s like a ghost town. That’s because despite having a lot of players listed as having that server as their “home”, most of those players have since quit, but their accounts are still listed as being on that server.

Except that they already confirmed that you’ll never be denied access to your home server regardless. Of course, I can’t link a source though so you’ll either have to believe me, look for the source, or don’t. That’s about how this particular discussion has gone for the past 6 months now so it’s just par for the course…not me trying to be rude.

Does this behavior continue after re-loading the game? Every time that I’ve seen this (long before yesterdays patch) it fixed itself after each logout/login.

Just Physical (Direct) Damage since vulnerability reduces armor but condition damage ignores armor to begin with so the effect has no bearing on CD.

Are you using the Dye icon to exit dye mode (the same one used to enter it)? That is the only way that I’ve found where the dye will consistently stick. All other methods of leaving dye mode have proven to be erratic when it comes to saving any changes.

I like it and would love to see more from you whenever you decide what you’re going to tackle next. Here’s my only constructive feedback that I have at this moment…I’d like to see the Total Amount of Karma changed a bit into something more like:

I wasn’t sure exactly how the monthly button worked at first but it certainly didn’t take long to figure it out. Having said that, there’s something about it that doesn’t sit just right so I’ll try to figure a suggestion for that if you like.

Absolutely none of the “official” statements prove either side conclusively. None.

There is only personal interpretation mixed with personal experience and we all know how individualistic those can be.

Again, no offense but if you take the research aspect out then you’re still left with common sense, which tells you that you’re transfering a character…not a guild. What if there were 100 members of that guild? Would they have lost their guild without any notice simply because the leader decided to transfer their character to another server? That wouldn’t make sense.

I have nothing against adding in a popup but at what point do we start thinking for ourselves again? We shouldn’t blame or expect others (not saying that you are) for not holding our hand every step of the way. Having said that, I fully agree that having a popup would save players and Anet more hassle than simply not having one as is currently the case.

Also, I’m not sure if this would work but could you maybe ask someone from your old server to join your guild and send you the items? I know that’s not much in the way of good advice and it wouldn’t help at all with the influence / upgrades but that’s all that I can think of. Sorry.

No offense but the warning are there…it’s called research. The FAQ and the Wiki both confirm this information and I was able to find it on both sites in less than 1 minute flat.

Lesson to others…if you’re going to do something as drastic as transfer a character in a person guild then read about the specifics before doing it so there’s no surprises. It’s all there in black and white, just need to look.

ok, one reason I don’t like going to character select screen is it heats up my computer more than in game … according to the apple activity monitor, GW2 cpu usage @ character select screen is 131.2 … map loading it goes as high as 189.3 (maybe higher but thats the highest I just saw it go) in game it is at 104.2.

I have 2 factor auth so logging out completely just for short AFK’s would become annoying.

I will try the mysts option since its going to a map it shouldn’t heat up my computer as much as character select screen.

Your temps are fine and shouldn’t even be close to an issue.

Also, you don’t need to log all the way out…just to character select screen so the 2 factor auth won’t be an issue either.

Lastly, once you’re at the character select screen you can use the Minimize Button in the upper right corner and the game won’t take up any resources or cause any heat.

Thanks for the invite…been nice getting to speak with others in-game for a change. Been mostly alone this whole time so this has been a pleasant experience for myself so far. Now I just need to finally get registered on the guild website and to get vent up and running.

However the Karma sets all have very mixed stats so it’s not good for optimizing.

Don’t forget that you can mix-and-match these items. They all have the same skin so they all look exactly the same. Pick up the pieces that you’re interested in from each of the vendors to create the set you’re looking for. Then, buy 6 Superior Runes from the TP and you’ll be good to go with your own custom made armor set.

Not to brag or anything, but i just hit lvl 80 and i have about 124000 Karma. My advice don’t miss your Daily Achievement its gives 4000 Karma and Monthly Achievements gives you 160000 Karma. So don’t miss those.
One more thing, this is my very 1st MMO ever, so if i can do it, why can’t you guys?

I know that the daily jug is actually 4,500.

I was under the impression that the monthly gave 10 jugs which would be 45,000.

160,000 for the monthly seems way too high.

Also, to those interested in earning karma…make sure to save those jugs until you have a ton of them…then use a karma booster, guild banner, etc to bump up the amount you get per jug to 7,000+ a piece.

You will get all 6 bonuses, not just the last 3 so your overall benefit will be +165 Toughness +50 Vitality and Gain Health Regeneration.

Clearly states you’ll be able to play on any world you have friends on. The restrictions refer to certain features being unavailable (WvW), not that the worlds you can guest on will be restricted.

No…it doesn’t. That’s just how you interpret the statement. Restrictions are only defined by 1 example…you can’t draw definitive conclusions from just 1 example.

If you don’t read anything into and take it on face value then restrictions could end up being anything…even the inability to guest cross-realm.

I have a D/D condition build and when I did the final story mission (my first dungeon sort-of-speak) I realized that I needed range…so I picked up a staff and started using it last night. I realize that I’ll probably be using D/D for solo and Staff for groups but now I’m seriously questioning my decision to go condition over direct damage. I’m starting to lean towards the belief that condition isn’t worth the sacrifice and that I might respec into a full direct damage build that would fit either of my weapon choices.

I’m loving the game and it looks as if I’ll be here for the long haul. With 2 level 80s and another more than halfway there I still feel as if there’s so much more for me to experience yet. 1. cross-server guild works more like a hub for people to chat. there are a number of us across a few servers, so people can group and look for help from people on the same server, or easily find dungeon groups in the same region. saying that there are quite a few of us on TC, so there is no need for you to move server

2. how mulit-guilding works, well you can switch representing if you need to shout out for help, or just for change in who you talk to. we don’t require representation, but it is nice to have when you’re doing things with others from the guild but again, you don’t have to. the guild is used as a hub, like I said, so you can easily see if people are online, instead of having a huge friends list.

That’s about the clearest statement that Anet has given us on this issue but it still leaves a lot to be desired in regards to clarity. So everyone still has their own interpretation and opinions on the subject with it seemingly being split down the middle. I for one believe that the server limit is in relation to currently playing accounts and not the number of accounts registered to a given server. Therefore, “at the moment” would be the key phrase that I take from the above quote. But then again, I don’t have any solid proof either way and neither does anyone else for that matter.

From personal experience…if you keep trying you’ll get in soon enough. That’s about the best I can tell you.

After looking at the sets it appears that there’s no PTV leggings or shouldpads so I think that I’m going to end up with a set of Balthazar armor with a Grenth helm. I’ll probably replace the ruins for the Undead, Vampirism, or Elementalist set and then use my accessories to fill in the blanks as needed (like you said).

I have no idea how much attention I should be spending towards Precision, Crit, any Durations, or even Healing Power…I just know that I can currently rip through things quickly so long as they don’t tear me apart first so my main focus needs to be better survivability. I’m guessing that once I get this armor completed I’ll be able to tell if I’m suffering too much in the other areas or not. Up until now I haven’t really worried all to much about anything other than P/V/T and Condition Damage and it’s worked out well so here’s hoping it stays that way.

I just don’t want to be so squishy anymore.

How ridiculous would it be for a D/D Elementalist (30/20/5/5/10) to mix and match the level 80 exotic karma armor to achieve highest P/T/V possible and re-seat them with Superior Runes of the Undead…or something like that?

Not sure how detailed I need to be so I’ll leave it at that for now and see if it was enough to make me look like a complete newb.

Save the jugs from dailies and pop a karma booster before opening and you’ll have a full set of exotics in less than 30 days while making money in the process.

Just because you didn’t get something with 200% MF and did without any doesn’t show anything. Your chances were maybe 0.4% with MF and 0.2% without, and just got luck without.

It’s like being allowed to roll a die 4 times to try and get a 6, and not getting one, when someone else rolls a single die and gets one.

I tried reading as much as I could, here and on the guild forum, but I’m still left with some newbie questions…

1. How does cross-server guilding work? I’m on TC and would really like to stay there.

2. How does multi-guilding work? I have no problem representing but the majority of my time will be spent with my current guild so I’d prefer to rep them whenever I can.

Those two should be enough to let me know if I can contribute properly or not. I really want to as I feel that I have enough invested into GW2 at this point that I could be beneficial to others in more ways than one.

As simple as possible…you have a bottleneck in your system and without knowing the specifics there’s nothing that anyone can say to help you resolve the problem.

If that’s not what you’re looking for then…NO. Buying a new GPU will not stop your FPS drops. But then again, it might.

I’ll probably go into more detail about the specifics but for right now I’m still looking the build over before I finalize it and start playing with it ingame. I used a similar setup while leveling but having used this specific build as of yet.

They’re not silencing complaints…this isn’t the official method for such actions so if you want to complain then you need to follow the rules and go by the methods that they have made available for such matters.

Also note that nearly every mmo forum has had the same type of rule for decades now…this isn’t about freedom so I wouldn’t worry about Anet becoming the next Korea.

Split them up into 2-3 smaller groups that can take 1 acolyte each. This will actually speed up the process by not wasting players on a single acolyte that could otherwise be dealt with by a couple of people.

We failed several time until we did this and once we figured it out the event went as smooth as butter.

My warrior, which I took to 80, was a nice fit at the time as it allowed me to learn about the game without too much difficulty.

My elementalist, which I’m almost 80 on, has now become my main simply because it fits my real playstyle better…more intricate with more options. Anyone can play a single element elementalist but to get really good at working with the synergy of all the elements is when the class really shines. I love being able to let go and dumb down my experience if need be (fire all day long when the mood dictates) or to be able to delve into more depth when my brain is up for the task.

I’ve tried other classes but these two seem to fit me best so I’d say…yes, my professions fit my playstyles.

Not really. If you log off and back on you’ll notice that the list changes constantly with each log in. I highly doubt that the server on the top of the full or very high portion of the list would fall to the bottom of that list and back to the top again within a couple seconds. It’s more of just an odd grouping without any real reasoning behind it. Sorry to say.
