So yeah. The reasons for which Lich-Form is balanced are that you can:

  • block
  • blind
  • go out of sight
  • reflect
  • use the terrain properly

I agree with all of them. But then, then there’s Rampage. Transform elite skill on 120s CD, which does 20% more damage, has a tremendous amount of CCs and most importantly, it deals TONS of DPS.
By using rampage you gain: access to a lot of powerful control abilities, insane DPS, mobility, immunity to CCs, something very close to immunity to immobilize/chill/cripple, permswiftness and on top of that, tremendous HP pool. So, what are the counters?

Reflects? Nope!
CCs? Nope!
Soft CCs? Nope!
Dps? Nope!
Stab? Nope!
Well then, maybe I guess I can outrun him? You guess, it: nope!

Yes, I am asking for nerfs, in case you didn’t notice. I consider Rampage an “I-win” button. And what’s most irritating is that there are NO counters. Not even run. Just hope to survive thanks to aliens or something.

Sure but nerf grenade bug, Mesmer, and Thief first.

Right now Thief has a sleeper build and Mesmer is just absolutely annoying and anti-fun much like Rampage.

Sadly this patch has a lot of positive feedback from veterans for once, so don’t expect too much.

I dueled a slightly more skilled mesmer than me 8 times on my necro.
it ended 4 wins each.

A DRAW.

I think it is pretty even at the moment. and he was even slightly more skilled than I am. I won the first 4, but he adjusted quickly to my build and playstyle and won the next 4 thanks to his superior skills and adaptability.

so really, mesmers are not as terrible as you guys make them out to be.
all their interrupts/stuns? just counter with stability/stun breaks.

A traited necro which I am, has a 10sec shroud stunbreak with 1 3sec stability after, and I run 2 stun break utilities.

Really, if mesmers are so much pain, adapt and change your build/playstyle.

So pls stop with the nerf them threads.

The signet trait in arms is amazing. Specially when you play a super glassy GS build. Right now Axe + GS is almost just as effective back in the old Hundred Blades meta even in sPvP.

I’m not going to pick this build over Tarcis’ GS/Hammer. It’s just so bad and kinda shows someone who has no experience in sPvP. Who does air/battle and fire/cleansing? No energy sigil for reckless dodge? Great fortitude over the great sword trait? Just god, not even a 6.5/10 but a 1/10.

Yeah your version is just bad. People should just use Tarcis’ version. Like even Burr’s bulls charge build isn’t even bad compared to this and that’s saying a lot.

Alright, you guys know the drill! How are the changes so far? Either answer these questions for me or just talk about what you feel is important to mention for Warrior.

Specific questions:

  1. Have you tried actually using healing signet for the resistance at all?
  2. Have you found any builds that are extremely distinct in playstyle from builds before the patch?
  3. Have you been able to have any success with shoutbow since the patch? It’s seemed like it has been having trouble with all the burst specs going around.

1.) Healing Signet is dead. Defiant Stance is meta now. 300 healing per second will not be enough to out-sustain 10k damage within a matter of seconds at this meta.
2.) DPS Warrior is broken op. Plenty of counterplay exists but in my standards it’s just too strong atm.
3.) Shoutbow is still playable SO LONG as you have a “hyper carry” that you are supporting. The incentive becomes, focus the shoutbow or the guy who can cleave your team.

Since signet of rage has hardly nerfed, we have no choice but to only use rampage or battle standard. if we go for them, warrior’s sprint is must in need unless we run warhorn. Therefore no rifle user can actually use crack shot ability but choose warrior’s sprint. if we use crack shot, we lose all mobility.

So I think Crack shot need to be in master trait of discipline. As it goes to master trait, buff something is in need like killshot cast time decrease from 1+1/4s to 1s.

Or, buff signet of rage back. Especially double swiftness duration.

Anyway, i guess this is why Rifle isnt still viable in sPvP.

Putting crack shot on master doesn’t sound bad. The battle standard regen definitely needs to be moved downward for sure :x

Heck, on my Ranger in Settler’s at at least 95% hp (so Barkskin was up), I got dropped in less than 2s by a Thief that came from outside my LoS while I was stomping his teammate … couldn’t do anything since basilisk on me and my defensive skills were on cooldown from fighting the guy I was stomping … I think more than sustain is needed against some things.

More sustain is bad because then Hambow/Spirit Ranger/Cele meta will just come back in a different form.

Do you know why fighting games are so hype? It’s because people are always trying to go for each other and defending is actually HARD.

Lighter is right, your build is absolute garbage and you don’t know how to build. You either go Rifle + GS or Rifle + Axe.

Like who does Sword + Rifle anymore? Is this launch? Like I literally stopped at go use Sword and Rifle, I bet you use Signet of Fury too. In which case you probably pull people down in sPvP with that build.

This is probably a necessary evil to be honest. Damage becomes high so that forgiving mechanics such as evade spam become more unforgiving. I don’t believe they should nerf fire/air yet, they need to look at instant cast burst first.

Axe/mace or Axe/shield + GS. In arms, you take the signet of might at 25% hp, unsuspecting foe for 100% crit evis and rampage 100% crit when you land the boulder, and then you take Dual Wield mastery or 100% crit chance on burst skill. STR ARMS DISC. GS can definitely go full glass-cannon because of evade and mobility.

Problem is, builds STR DEF DISC are just strong as hell. I can see ARMS DEF DISC working for Mace + Hammer, sure. Maybe even hambow.

Axe/Axe is pointless, there is no incentive to use Whirling Axe over Chop. Sword/Axe or Axe/Mace are the only weapon sets that I feel are strong in synergy when talking about a non-shield off-hand.

Heightened focus is just too strong on DPS builds right now. And Brawler’s Recovery and Warrior sprint is just ridiculous.

So going off-topic and in theory: I don’t think baseline fast hands will do anything but allow a Soldier Amulet skull crack build to happen, which will get bursted fast anyways with the zerker amulet buff and over-all damage increase.

Make comps with other people that make it “easier” to land hits. Count/force dodges and cool downs better through stow weapon.

Other than that, Warrior shouldn’t get Thief/Guardian/Mesmer instant cast or it will be braindead and effective like those two classes right now.

The best way really is to nerf Rampage right now and balance every other DPS to Warrior DPS level. That’s what should’ve happened from the beginning anyways, everything getting balanced to DPS Warrior level/effort.

Like, it must be so hard to understand how to force 2-3 dodges when the Warrior switches to long bow and then burst.

It must be so hard to dodge arcing arrows or pin downs or skull cracks or anything that GS does.

It must be SO HARD to CC a Warrior before a Warrior can CC you due to the lack of instant cast.

Fear Me isn’t even a problem, that gets cleansed by other people anyways. It’s not like Necro Fear which they can overlap easily.

Even with those flaws, sure Warrior can still be strong. But those openings are what makes baseline Fast Hands balanced and not broken.

People who complain about Warriors like Toxsa are the same people who NEVER work on their mechanics and say “Warrior is OP because my reaction time is bad.” Learn to provide REAL arguments please. Sigh.

Power Necro vs. DPS Warr? If stun lock is your problem, learn to use the Foot in the Grave. You won’t miss the 50% crit rate from DS when you already hit like a truck with the procs. If Rampage is your problem? L2Fleshwurm.

And why should we play this?
Dmg? Nope. Guard do better.
CC? Nope. Guard do better.
Heal? Ingi will do better =0
Condi Heal? ….. Guard will the do the Job just fine.

I dont say the Warrior is unplayable but we need a reason for using one.

Melee Carry. Look up Faceless Void from DOTA2. Except a more reasonable one. And shoutbow is still going to be pretty annoying.

While the changes are boring and uninnovative, Warrior can still have a place as a DPS and a support.

Wish baseline fast hands would happen though when the elite specs come out. Every class will get crazy power creep at that point anyways, specially the reset on Mesmer and more evade frame-eater on Guardian? Baseline fast hands should happen at that point.

It has been like this since Launch such as the quickness nerf on Warrior with ZERO immediate compensation 2 years ago and the lack of balancing principles such as Overcharge shot vs. instant cast skull crack.

Make (Fast Hands + Warrior Sprint) Baseline

If you are complaining about:

1.) Sigil advantage

Then you are simply not a good player because, while Sigil advantage gives Warrior actual instant cast mechanics, you can still react to it and cleanse it (Hydro/Geo/Doom). Most of the people who are complaining about baseline fast hands probably have absolutely no reaction time and has a skill level of a new player who should NOT be having an opinion.

2.) Fire/air + Energy no discipline

Warrior has ZERO instant cast skills for fire/air to be that much of a problem anyways. They don’t have instant cast gap closers either. Warrior also does not have any built in evades other than GS. Now name me a GS build that will be op without discipline please. GS will still probably use discipline anyways and if a Warrior is using it’s movement skills to disengage then you win the fight because GS cannot bait dodges for jack without whirlwind and rush anyways.

3.) Intelligence

You have BAD REACTION TIME AND YOU NEED TO LEARN TO PLAY. It’s just that simple.

4.) Unsuspecting Foe

Again, you have bad reaction time and should not have an opinion. Okay, lets say Warrior uses Soldiers Amulet though? Now he depends on landing CC even more than just counting dodges and landing just damage by itself. Learn to spam blinds and wait out zerker stance? Play Guardian, stab your team, and call it skill? Game is about hard counters anyways.

TL;DR baseline fast hands will NEVER be broken because Warrior has no instant cast mechanics other than Fear Me (in which case Shoutbow itself will need a nerf) and built-in easy mode evades. And most of all? They can NEVER attack while evading or spamming blinds or eat through your evade frames. Warrior will still be BALANCED even with fast hands baseline. The people saying other-wise simply has bad reaction time and does not know how to count dodges. THAT SIMPLE.

P.S My opinion will not change unless the Elite Spec is broken op relative to the power creep that will happen.

It’s either adrenaline gain on-hit becomes baseline or fast hands baseline. Mostly with baseline fast-hands, I promise, that’s all that needs to happen so that Warrior won’t be “black-holed” into cleansing ire without making Warrior broken.

With the power creep happening, this should just flat-out happen. There’s literally no reason not to.

Making a Better Defense Trait Line

It seem my fellow Warriors don’t like reading Walls of text, well who does so guilty myself.

TLDR

  • Cull the weak is now a minor.
  • Thick Skin is merged with Desperate power and now is a major.
  • Cleansing Ire is now a minor.
  • Adept traits now spread out between all three tiers and some other traits redistributed.

I will still not pick Reactive Armor over dogged march or Spiked Armor with that trait line :x

Some of the ideas are cool and all it’s just that it’s a straight out buff to defense. The fact that I can have Last Stand, Endure Pain and Cleansing Ire is just pushing it tbh.

I would say in order for the defense tree to be balanced compared to the other trees, in this case the OTHER trees need to look more attractive. So far arms is looking really nice with the signet of might trait as a passive. Strength is looking okay.

I think Fast Hands being baseline by itself can potentially make non-defense and non-discipline builds (w/ Elite or without) attractive.

They have this one passive called “Lack of Balancing principles,” an elite called “Implement Anti-Fun Mechanics,” and a healing skill called “I’m getting paid while I do bad decisions” so that the developers are being forgiven for “bad play.”

Question how does this dude keep coming here making noise. He wasnt very good and he always ran meta builds and when he lost he blamed everyone else. I recall people telling me when he was on there teams for ANYTHING he would bark orders and if they lost any situation he would cry and tell everyone to L2P.

Grenades are fine. Engi deleting counterplay which is focus-fire is NOT. Slick shoes or gear shield needs a nerf. Oh, and Vampirism is just stupid for ALL CLASSES, doesn’t matter what it is. Please delete those runes, if you get caught you should stay caught and not get a free jail-card rune to back you up.

OR we can all just wait for HoT and maybe REAL balancing will happen and that each and every class will be at the same level of effort. JK I don’t think ANET has the talent for that to happen.

Nah. Here’s a real nerf that would make shoutbow still viable though and carries on to HoT.

“Shake-it-off now does not break out of stuns.” You want a stun break? Use a stance. Shoutbow is gonna be annoying at HoT with the brawler’s recovery and burst mastery, may as well make it even MORE susceptible to chain CC ganks.

Cele classes should be countered by burst. But in this case, I also hope slick shoes stun break gets nerfed to balance and d/d ele perma-dodge with burning speed/updraft perma-vigor gets nerfed to the ground to balance that braindead spec out.

The amulet isn’t the problem, it is ACTUALLY the specs themselves.

Do you have any way to show that even if Fast Hands was made baseline that Discipline would still be a must-have because of Warrior’s Sprint and Versatile Rage.

I think you still don’t understand the difference between “needed” and “nice to have” … or “balance”.

As far as Warrior’s being mobile … as was explained to you numerous times by other people, Warrior already has plenty of access to Swiftness and movement abilities on their weapon sets.

I’m still waiting for a build will be broken with “base-line” fast hands. So far you literally have no clue what you’re talking about and you keep saying Fast Hands baseline should never happen. Like, okay you may use “People are going to use discipline anyways, why make fast hands baseline? Isn’t that a waste of time?”

But a NON DISCIPLINE build with fast-hands wouldn’t hurt to have considering the power creep is happening, yet you keep getting worked up over this.

Just stupidly incompetent arguments tbh, the people saying Fast Hands shouldn’t be baseline with the upcoming power creep which will BUFF ALL CLASSES. Also, lets keep Warrior sprint baseline “one” of the incentives to make discipline stay attractive. I want my DEF + STR + ARMS Warrior with baseline fast hands. And if you’re saying THAT is op? You have pathetic reaction time.

For real though, name me a build that will be OP with baseline fast hands considering you’re so worked up about this.

Depends on the class/spec, if it’s Guardian/Ranger/Shoutbow/Ele/Slick Shoes? It takes no skill.

I wouldn’t be surprised if I “Kited” or dodged focus fire on Ranger or Guard, those classes take no skill no matter how you build them anyways. On shoutbow? It depends on the comp, it takes no skill no matter what though even vs. burst because you wouldn’t be trying to kite burst in the first place anyways. On Ele/Slick Shoes? Nah I have a sense of humility.

Kiting in this game just shows how easy defense/evade/stun break spam mechanics are no matter what the meta to be honest. “Attacking” takes more skill, period.

Mixed ques is really just a band-aid to a larger problem where sPvP IS DEAD.

Separate ques will work if sPvP was alive, which is OBVIOUSLY not and is a much bigger problem.

All you’re doing is really asking for more band-aids to be honest, really uninnovative suggestions. Like templates won’t bring sPvP to life, all it will do is make it a little convenient but that’s it.

Brace yourself for the upcoming power creep. It’s going to be a whole different game except with one similarity: it’s going to be the same devs who made the cele/hambow/spirit ranger meta whose going to be working on it.

While Mace is strong but hard to play, reaching the point of “viability” or easy and effective should probably never happen. Warrior shouldn’t really have instant cast other than Fear Me to be honest.

New Smarter AI vs 100b?!

We’ve all seen this topic before. “Make 100bs mobile!!1!!!one!!”

But there’s some new context today: Smarter AI!

Normally I make lengthy posts, but I wont mince words here. The bottom line is that either NPCs will soon move out of 100b because they’re smart (making 100b useless) or they wont because they’re stupid (making the AI upgrade pointless).

Either way, somethings being rendered useless.

My suggestion? Let Warriors walk (not run) and turn while channeling 100b, just like a Guardian channeling whirling wrath.

I also would love to have smarter AI’s but I would like to keep HB as is. Also, walking HB is broken and shouldn’t happen for PvP.

People who think Fast Hands shouldn’t be baseline are literally using fail arguments. The only advantage that fast hands give that people complain about is.. on-swap advantage. And on-swap only really helps certain builds such as Tarcis’ Greatbow, shoutbow, and condi specs, and maybe soldier hammer. Only shoutbow is a real problem tbh though a shoutbow variation, in theory, without discipline won’t really work if fast hands were to be baseline.

Maybe fire/air + energy DPS builds without using discipline could be strong if fast hands become baseline. But I don’t believe it will be cancer either unless they give Warrior some instant cast mechanics.

For real though? Are you going to say.. Unsuspecting Foe will be OP with baseline fast hands? L2P, mace and hammer are already too telegraphed. Are you going to say.. Condi Warrior will be OP with baseline fast hands? There’s no point in picking that over shoutbow and it has no CC.

Like name me a build that will be OP with baseline fast hands without the discipline tree, please. I’m going to laugh if you say DPS warr will be op because that just shows you have zero reaction time and just bad to have an opinion.

So long as they keep Warrior telegraphed and not have too many evades on weapon skills, baseline fast hands will NOT HURT balancing.

P.S I still don’t understand why casuals are saying their opinion on why Fast Hands shouldn’t be baseline. That isn’t a big buff tbh.

Beneficial Suggestion for Zerk Warriors

DO NOT fix what isn’t broken. I’m telling you right now, this is my final warning to ANET before I take a long break. DO NOT make DPS Warrior easy and effective or it will be cancer.

If they go with your suggestion, then once again ANET enforces the META and makes it so that GS is the only viable DPS weapon for Warrior. And in practice, do you know how broken HB would be if you could cast it while moving? Moving HB = Warrior baits dodges easier and Warrior baiting dodges by itself without team support should be it’s weak point. Why are you deleting counterplay vs. DPS Warrior? We don’t want another Slick Shoes Engi or D/D ele.

You get rid of the weakness where Warrior has a hard time downing people in the first place, they will be broken for the most part because DPS Warrior is extremely broken when people are down-stated. Most of the time they will not res/be heavily punished against the “good DPS Warrs” granted that people are interrupting res utils.

You know what DPS Warrior should be? They should have a hard time landing DPS but be rewarding for landing DPS. THAT is how you balance it out, not with “moving HB.”

TL;DR DO NOT make DPS Warrior easy and effective. Final warning to ANET.

P.S If you want a REAL buff that’s balanced in practice, why don’t we raise Signet of Might to 60 seconds while keeping the unblockable buff AND adding a protection ignore mechanic to it? I want to substitute a defensive utility for an option that rewards offense anyways. Lets buff Signet of Fury too: make the cool down 120 seconds and make it so that people can’t stun break for the next 3 seconds on your next CC. Now MY suggestions will reward “good players with good habits” and punish mistakes hard.

And no, the worst Zerker class is Engi. Not Warrior. If anything, Engis need it more: a zerker build that isn’t braindead and effective like Ranger or Guardian.
