I think the Living Story CAN provide an expansion’s worth of content. It CAN provide new maps and new content. There’s no real reason why it can’t. The only limitation is how much can be given at any one time.

I agree, the living story ‘COULD’, however it hasn’t. It’s recycled—-insert map(s) here, add lots of stuff to search and find, add aggravating mechanic that one kills players, add lots of respawns with overly strong armour etc, increase DR, don’t fix RNG, change graphics, take SP PVE play out of the equation.
Rinse and repeat.

The only limitation seems to be from somewhere up the companys’ chain.

Let’s see.

Changes that persist.

Moa Racing (Lion’s Arch)
Not So Secret Jumping Puzzle (Gendarran Fields)
Twilight Arbor Aetherblade Path (Caledon Forest)
Tequatl (Sparkfly Swamp) completely redone
Sanctum Sprint (minigame)
Southsun Survival (minigame)
Kessex Hills (new events, hearts have changed, new daily chest)
WvW (ruins, ranks with specializations, traps, new area for GvG set aside)
PvP (solo queue for tournaments, observation mode and new arenas)
Crafting (six crafting professions now go up to 500)
Ascalon Catacombs revamp

Then there’s recurring content that isnt’ there today but is in fact new content that you can experience. Stuff like Dragon Bash, Bazarre of the Four Winds, the Queen’s Gauntlet and SAB.

Even the two dungeons that were available and taken away have returned to the Fractals, as new fractals…along with mistlock instabilities from level 31-50.

Those who say nothing has changed obviously aren’t looking very hard.

Edit: That’s not counting QoL updates of which their were many, including changes to champion bags.

Thank you. this is much more helpful then the previous if you dont like it go away post. Now I have some things to go check out.

I did not say go away, I said you tried it and found it wanting. Why would you want to suffer, unless you get a kick out of suffering.

“The game does not live up to your standards/expectations. What have you lost exactly? The market is huge, go out and find something enjoyable that meets your needs.”
Sure seems like a go away post to me.

A full expansion for free?

Edit: No srsly, now they have me curious. Meh, we’ll see what the year brings, it’s only just begun after all..

But the thing that many GW2 fail to realize is that we already get that. It’s called Living Story :P

It’s just that Living Story gives you new content every 2 weeks while an expansion you need to wait more than a year to get content all at once.

I’m thinking we get to see some new maps brought back to life from the original GW. Maybe we will get to go to the Crystal Desert after all and deal with the dragon there ;S

The living story new content in no way whatsoever qualifies as an expansion or does it even mimic an expansion. It’s just additional repetitve content in a different package.
An expansion would bring a new world/maps with new content, pve, quests etc. Going around old maps getting old socks and hats, or dragon scales or whatever is not.

Expansion coming soon?

But they also said that working on huge patch that coming in 2014.Doesnt matter do u call it expansion or not, important is to add more perma content

They also said they released an expansion’s worth of content in 2013. LOL!!

Ya but no one would have paid for that nerfing/grinding/recycled content every few weeks——amount of new content is not an indicator of quality content. An expansion would have to be so much more than what is being continually offered up.

The RNG is kind of killing the notion of reward. You can play the game for a year and get nothing, while another will play a month and get a precursor drop.

Also, ArenaNet are so scared of people farming (abusing) things that give better rewards that they prefer to have everything give crappy rewards.

Exactly!!!! and I don’t believe for a second that RNG isn’t flawed when all players don’t have an equal chance of getting rewards. I fall in to the rarely get a rare drop as well as never seen a precusor.

From what ive seen so far Wildstar is superior to Gw2 in every aspect(gameplay, combat, PvP, Devs) but this is not confirmed, we will see if that is the case in a year or so from now.

As for the the GW2 future—unless they open up a a few areas/map (expansion!!!!) with new quests etc for lvl 80s—get rid of the grind and time gated crafting—-add real content/ change the living story to be soloable—the future looks very very very bleak.

Been playing since the beginning and I have stopped buying gem cards and have a few new games to play from the steam sale—so in my case and others I know , we just aren’t playing it or spending money on it.—Made my 1st acsended and I won’t do that grind again, RNG is flawed and I doubt I will ever have a legendary. The 2 week additions have become just more of the same as well a mediocre, and what they did to TEQ was just inexcusible. Still havn’t bothered to complete my pesonal story since they made the conclusion MP instead of SP like the rest of the personal story. I’ll come back when new areas open and I have new maps (that’s plural not singular!!!)to explore.
More power to NCSoft—-I suggest they order Anet to make a great expansion ASAP.

Outside of the occasional rude bore that thinks he’s been nominated to be the Dictator of Queensdale, I have no problem with it. However, the zerg needs to recognize that not everyone wants to be a part of it, and if tsomeone wants to kill champs on thier own shedule, they have the right to.

I’ve never understood the crying sound the zerg makes when someone kills out of order as the pace of the zerg is so fast, that any lose is neglible.

Blude.6812

A lot of exaggeration going on in yet another thread about the champ trains in Queensdale. For at least the last month I have not seen an argument get nasty on Tarnished Coast over people hitting champions out of order. From reading thus thread people would think Queensdale is a non-stop argument. For the most part when a champion gets hit out of order the zerg just moves on because they are used to it by now. The only problem causing I have seen was when someone or a small group intentionally messes with the order and they are the ones taunting in chat. Even then most everyone just ignores them and goes to the next event and the antagonists get bored.

As for impressions on new players, I have seen many new players receive more help and attention because Queesndale is populated and people are there to answer their questions, help with skill points and so forth. So hey, let’s nerf the map and make it more vacant right? New players talking to themselves in /map gives a good impression too right? If you are so worried about new players go to starter zones and look for people to help and give them that good first impression.

Please stop with all these exagerations about how new players think the champ train is the game and get bored and quit. Stop making up storys about excessive map chat grieving because as I have seen the map chat does a great job policing itself. You may not like champ farming because you think there are better ways to play the game and that’s fine. Just stop worrying about how others play. You will enjoy the game much more that way.

Oh and if you are on the end/nerf champ side then that should revoke your license to complain ever should some aspect of the game you enjoy get the rewards nerfed. Asking for reward seyestems to get nerfed is a slippery slope. Think about it..

And another +1!!!!
So tired of players that think they own the game and the devs should change/nerf parts of the game. You want the trains to end? Suggest that a new map(lvl 60-80) with new events etc be added to the game instead mediocre content every couple of weeks.

Players will also gravitate towards these kinds of simple mindless loot opportunities when they are in the game.

Unfortunately, this leaves many other engaging group events in the world untouched and other zones desolate.

While I applaud the players resilience for staying with such a dull manifestation of the game, I feel Anet should take an approach akin to paternalism* and remove the Queens zerg, in order to force change and diversity.

This may upset some players, who feel they should be able to play how they want to play, but sometimes the world demands an authority or organization to guide us gently towards perfection.

Who is with me?

NB:

**"Paternalism" comes from the Latin pater, meaning to act like a father, or to treat another person like a child, limiting some person or group’s liberty or autonomy for their own good.

Just because YOUR liberal ideology compels you to force your play-style on others, does not mean that the Queensdale gig is a bad thing. For those of us who have been here since launch and do not WANT to level through all of those crappy mindless events for the 8th time, this is a relaxing, albeit slow alternative that you can pop in to and out of with ease. The game needs things like this, and less people who would see things ruined for others because they do not personally see the value in them.

And the notion that YOUR advice is “fatherly” is laughable. Please do not ever try to impress your warped ideology me or my children.

+1 for that!!!

Queensdale Champion Train is wonderful, relaxing and you can clear your mind. It is peaceful, and this game does not have so much peaceful places after all.

I have level up most of my characters just opening maps and doing all hearts, and doing most of the events on the way. It is stressing, boring, lonely business. It is like playing single player game in MMO world. If I see on the road like 5 people on the same area where I am, that is lucky. In this way I earn like 8 – 9 gold on the road, when I do all hearts and most of the events. But when I jump in the Queensdale train, in a day I can earn more money. I just smash all white, blue, green and yellow items, and end of the day I will sell all those materials and get my money. I only save those exotics ones.

Most of all, I can see other players in Queensdale Champion Train, we are many, we have fun, but most of all, I can leave all stress from my sholders and finally enjoy the game.

So let the train go on. Those who don’t like Queensdale Champion Train, they don’t need to jump in. But those who likes it, let them have it.

I agree 100% with you

Ditto from me too!!!

The RNG formula is flawed, there is a major programming mistake in there somewhere and I can’t be convinced otherwise. The same people seem to get reward after reward, be it drops, precursors, tickets, exotics etc while others always get nothing. I am in the second group. Some say its just luck—sorry don’t buy that either. When one group of players consistently get good rewards (or whatever) and another group of players consistently get junk or nothing, then there is a problem.
