Some skills are already split between PvP and PvE.

But more importantly, PvE is “easy” because the old mobs are so bland.

Just look to how many self proclaimed “skilled” players got themselves obliterated by Smokestalkers and some of the other jungle wildlife in the Beta.

always want to try avoid autoattacking on Engineer anyway I feel.

Spec into Elixirs and use FT or EG for times when you need to Auto.

Pistol is great for laying down poison, but more importantly, for the bouncing blind.
Offhand does decent damage too, but Blowtorch can be janky at close range.
Shield offers reflect, which is extremely handy vs Lich, Ranger and P/P thief on the rare occasions you see one. The Shield block is also brilliant vs any Melee.

I prefer pistol builds in PvP for the utility/defense over Rifle, which is more of a berzerker pew pew weapon for burst specs in my opinion.

Built and played well, Engineer is still the best class in the game in my opinion.
(Don’t tell Reddit)

Took a bit of time playing all the other professions again and changing up my play-style a little, but I feel extremely confident that Engineer is still a beast.

That said, all professions have a lot of potential, I’ve been able to perform well with recent builds on everything except Thief, but only because I don’t play Thief.

Just keep working on your skills OP and really try to ensure there is a harmony between your traits/abilities/stats and runes/sigils. There is plenty to think about, but that’s what makes it a fun experience.

Burn Guard actually less powerful after 6/23

The patch is not what put Burn Guard down a peg. It’s the solid existing balance of the game.

Once condi burst became a big deal, players started carrying cleanse, lots of cleanse, which which every profession has access to in one way or another.

This is just a natural shift in meta responding to a common powerful build.

We are also seeing a lot less ’zerker burst builds than right after the specialisations patch release as players are starting to build defence to prevent instant kills.

I do.

It remains to be seen how things play out when all the bugs are fixed, but for now I see all classes frequently in matches, played in quite a nice variety of builds.

I also know for sure there are better builds than the current recommendations on metabattle for many classes, at least for my playstyle.

But most of all, played and built well, Engineer is still top tier, and that keeps me happy :P

Just keep changing up your builds, trying new combinations and synergies. Eventually you’ll come across great stuff.
I haven’t had this much fun in GW2 since release.

Buffing the finest class in the game before most of the plebs have even figured out the best new builds is never a good idea.

Fix bugs, let the dust settle, then we can talk buffs/nerfs for the professions.

If damage from all sources was reduced slightly, across the board, I suspect that (excluding bug fixes) few individual skills would need changes.

Some very important points:

AMR has always had a 90sec CD

AMR is an incredibly potent trait

AMR is bugged with secondary heal skill abilities/traits since the specialisations update

Calling for a buff to this already fantastic trait is, in my opinion, absurd. However, it’s current bugged state makes it worseless for Healing Turret or charged AED.

Possible solution if we are trying to keep Rev feeling quite different would be to have whichever weapon you use in your first weapon slot appear when using your first legend, and second weapon slot for the second legend.

5v5 is far too PvE on this map, and we already have good 5v5 maps/modes.

I have no idea why this isn’t being built for and marketed as much wanted GvG content.

Stats on all abilities are terrible and the skill ceiling is extremely low for this class, meaning you can’t do much with it.

Ventari tablet is the exception gameplay wise, it is a pleasure to play with and beautiful to look at.

I believe Revenant desperately needs additional 1-5 skills. The Engi/Ele one weapon schtick only works for them thanks to kits/toolbelt and Attunement.

It was an accident ever being shorter and it is still extremely powerful.

It has also always been bugged to trigger when heal isn’t on cooldown, which is frustrating.

Pity it is bugged with Healing Turret now.

Flamethrower Toolbelt Bug:

Incendiary Ammunition tooltip describes the skill as inflicting 2 stacks of burning, on the next 3 attacks for 3 seconds.

In play the skill is inflicting only 1 stack of burning on each of the next 3 attacks for 3 seconds.

This renders the skill incredibly weak given it’s 50 second cooldown.

I very much agree with the general consensus that this build would benefit more from Rabid than Cele OP.

@mcef:

Cloaking Device is an incredible trait.

I would thoroughly recommend giving it a proper go, if you haven’t already.

I’ve found CD + Power Shoes in Inventions to be notably superior traits to the typical Speedy Kits/Power Wrench set-up in Tools. At least from a defensive perspective.

Your thief would get more mileage from “on crit” sigils most likely.

Different sigils synergise more effectively with different builds.

Technically, every class can utilise “on-swap” sigils.

Just because a class/build other than your own can utilise them more effectively does not make something OP.

Do consider that the alternatives to “on swap” sigils are also very effective.

You must admit, this thread does very much read like the typical “yours is OP, mine is fine” circle-jerk mentality prevalent in PvP forums…

Personal score points awarded for:

  • Decapping nodes.
  • Capturing nodes.
  • Standing on white/home colour nodes whilst in combat
  • Kills in close proximity to node/map specific buff/creature/object.
  • Resurrections while in close proximity to node.
  • Capturing/killing/controlling map specific buffs/creatures/objects
  • Each multiple of 20k outgoing damage.
  • Each multiple of 20k incoming damage.
  • Each multiple of 10k outgoing healing.

Personal score points NOT awarded for:

  • Kills off point/away from objective.

This way, the vast majority of points are awarded for successfully contesting points.

Additional qualifiers could be placed on kill points to discourage zerging from point to point, such as 30-40% total damage contribution.

Both are pretty perfect, turrets/explosives seem to fit the Charr aesthetic more, while Elixirs perhaps fit Asura better.

However, 95% of Medium Armour clips/warps horrendously on Charr.

Somewhere after about ~300ms is when this starts to manifest I find.

Perhaps your connection has degraded recently.

Might be worth running a few basic diagnostics to see if you can find an issue, maybe give your ISP a buzz following that, they can run some tests and offer advice too.

First run a ping test to another random non-gw2 server in Germany (I think the EU servers are housed there?).

Always worth doing a few basic diagnostics to see if you encounter the problem before ANet’s servers.

Spirit Watch and Courtyard suggestions are great, exactly what needs to happen for those maps to make Ranked Queue.

I’d like to see private server options to modify spawn times back to normal for Courtyard though, 10v10 clusterkittens on that map are pure joy.

I think adding kiddy rails to Skyhammer just makes it a boring Kyhlo clone. Perhaps it will be a great map forever relegated to hotjoin as a very fun experiment.

Best chance is to max out cleanse and be very careful of when you cast abilities. Every cast is another chance to get slapped with more confusion.

Engineer is recognized as having a relatively high skill floor, thusly it could be reasonably concluded that engineer players are, on average, more skilled. Which would obviously skew the results of a report.

Calling the Geedub PvP community “toxic” is laughable.

99% of the “rage” that I’ve seen is experienced players sharing barbed strat advice in team chat.

That’s basically par of course for any PvP.

The only PvP community I’d call “toxic” is ranked League of Legends. But I haven’t played in ages so it could be good now as well.

The Tur-gineer is basically meat on a string without it’s turrets, which means it’s a free kill.

So by leaving it’s turrets, it has made a L2P mistake and will likely die.

As perhaps OP did when clicking Ranked Queue instead of Practice.

Regardless, how to beat a turret spec:

#1. Get gud. (means play turrets in this instance)
#2. Turrets only wins if you run in and get spammed with CC, so use ranged skills.
#3. Range.
#4. More Range.
#5. ??
#6. Praise Brew Pinch.

If you play Guard, you can wade into the turrets with stability and just CC chain the Engi to death.

If they gave it another 1100 range, upped the damage and increased the AoE radius it would be a pretty cool skill.

It’s also got one of the only/longest Ice Fields as well, which could see some interesting play if the elite wasn’t terribad otherwise.

…But, yeah, in it’s current state, Grenades are far better.

Gets you killed by retaliation, but it is a pretty decent kit these days. Used to be a piece of kitten back in the day.

It does have some sweet abilities:

—The insta-cast blind is great for stomps.

—The knock-back blows back projectiles and extends burn duration.

Still has some annoying issues:

— Auto shoots into the ground if you target someone close-by.

— #2 shoots into the ground and disappears almost all the time. It should at least explode when it hits terrain.

Used to run the current Mesmer meta way back. It was considered a bad build by forum-tards despite my consistently strong play.

There have been no patches making any significant changes to the build since then.

Now all the “flavour of the month” kids have all caught up, I’m well versed in builds that perform very well versus double ranged Mesmer.

It’s all too easy.
