Anyway this particular kitten wad (I typed that) hasn’t been on for most of the day…he might be down for the count.
…..
I wouldn’t jumps to conclusions. Often these attention kitten hackers follow a pattern of attacking for several nights, halting attacks for some time and then changing some attack parameters (to thwart previous “fixes”) and continuing at a more opportune time (like a weekend after a new release……

A Server status web page WOULD be most appreciated by the entire player base….I agree.
Played for over an hour this morning (CDT 5:30-6:30 AM) and saw no lag or any connections issues at all (from Mississippi, US)
If Support mentions a compromise, ASK for information about when and how long the compromise happened. You need this info when you request the rollback.
…..
Due to the response given to me on the e-mail my friend also needed to make a support ticket to return my gifted item. While I appreciate my items being returned in a timely fashion. I do not understand why items that are purchased with real cash via “gems” could not be replaced without hesitation or questioning. I am investing money and feel that I should be treated as a valued “customer” and not be warned to make any mistakes again. Which in fact I did nothing wrong and feel the latency issue played a major part in this occurrence. I would also like to know why they put options on these items to accidentally remove them from our accounts.
Emails Attached below.
To be brutally honest, I personally feel you are being overly sensitive about the situation. I’m sure their POLICY is to place these warnings in emails whenever these types of replacements are made (I have also received them when resolving a similar issue in the past). There was NOTHING in the response that was remotely unkind or disrespectful so I’m not sure why you think it’s bad for them to up front tell you they are NOT going to do this action again.
Keep in mind that HOW the items were lost is still unclear and while YOU are going to maintain it’s a “game glitch”, I doubt Anet is so sure that’s the case but they are just not going to be overly rude and come out and say that to you.
Could it be worded nicer? Possibly, but I think they certainly DID treat you like a “valued” customer and possibly you are just being a bit touchy about how they “handled” your request.
If you didn’t get a nearly immediate auto-reply (Here’s your ticket number…blah blah), then you may have some email receipt issues with Support. Check your junk mail and post in the “3 days old” sticky thread.
I would love to traipse around the world with my Boar, “Andouille” but sadly, his F1 skill simply sucks…..pig stays in the barn.
The loss of names when changing is also on the “sucky” list…..
I’ve probably done Shatterer a dozen times (not a World Boss I frequent) since release (not recently, however) and I’ve seen Players in Crystal Prisons EVERY time. The claim that he has NEVER use that skill is simply false. (per above, there must be payers near melee range of him to get “imprisoned” or you WON’T see them).
NOW it is entirely possible the “fix” made with the recent patch has somehow broken this and it is no longer happening (I saw something of a mention about this the day of release but never checked it out in-game).
Can someone confirm they have seen Crystal Prisons during Shatterer since the patch?
Honestly this is a post I thought about doing myself. Every week there is three or four new threads talking about needing mounts in game. We don’t need them. It would be just like Farming Flats.5370 said, slow the kitten servers down. Do people not realize this. Is it that hard to understand.
So because they can’t update their technology, we shouldn’t have a feature that many have been clamoring for?
This has nothing to do with updating technology, slow servers or “many” players clamoring for a feature. Mounts are absolutely unnecissary in the game and against GW lore since lore existed.
Period.

I know that but no one seems to be able to tell me about the issues I am having
Not to be mean, but if you “know that”, why would you lump your 8 month old internet issues in with a SERVER attack issue? It is very unlikely they are at all related. Have you opened a ticket to address YOUR particular issue?
This feature can be turned off (mouse turn?) in the control options (I believe).
Hello,
I’m trying to get my nephew to play with me, and his mom just bought him a new copy of GW2 at GameStop. His dad tried to install it last night, but couldn’t because the game code was invalid. They went back to GameStop today and GameStop wouldn’t refund their money.
My sister-in-law said that the box had previously been opened by the GameStop staff and the DVD removed for “security” reasons, and that the DVD was handed over after checkout. Obviously a customer or staff member stole the activation code when the box was opened.
This isn’t really ArenaNet’s problem, but it’s infuriating. Obviously GameStop should refund the money, but I suppose their perspective is that my nephew could have activated the code and is now trying to return a useless box.
Any suggestion on what to do?
Thanks.
I would return to the store and first nicely ask to speak with a manager and explain the situation along with your “concerns” about how this could have happened. If the manager rectifies the situation, ok. If not, ask for his name, the employee that sold you the game and the phone number for the Corporate office and pull out your cell phone and start dialing….
Unfortunately, many managers are either in on these thefts or “look the other way” as long as the customer gets intimidated enough to not pursue the matter…DO NOT be that customer. You don’t have to get nasty, but causing enough of a scene in a crowded store (not my first choice) often gets results.
If all else fails or you just don’t want the confrontation, just call the Gamestop Corporate office and clearly state you want to report FRAUD at your local store (get the store # first).
BTW, you are correct that it’s not Anet’s fault and there is really nothing they can do. They DO sell the game at this site and you won’t get any issues (other than the larger download) from that.
Seriously…100gems…for a FULL ticket? It takes roughly 20 to 30 BL chests to generate a full ticket (tho I have gotten 8 with 10 chests before….tis RNG….i.e. GAMBLING).
I have no issue with FREE bonus items given occasionally for Gem Purchases (thoise are more of a “loyalty gift”), but the suggestion that there should be some delineation on available items between Gems purchased with real $ compared to gold is NOT something I could support.
Neither would I support Gem purchased items that give statistical game play advantages or are basically required to advance in the game (the TRUE meaning of “Pay 2 Win”). One of the main reasons I play GW2 is that all the Gem store items are fully 100% optional (tho I will agree some items are right on the corner of Convenience Avenue and Must Have Street).
P2W in my suggestion doesn’t mean you can’t succeed without any advantages. It just makes life slightly easier. Do note that just because you have a +15% damage sigil over a +5% one does NOT guarantee a win. If you don’t have the skills to play, even having a double damage sigil can’t save you.
Then you are using P2W incorrectly. The strict definition of the term means you are absolutely required to pay the $ to continue with the game. Basically you can play up to a certain level, but to progress any farther you must purchase some equipment or “pass” to get to (or have any hope of succeeding in) the next tier of the game.
Most of the issues I see on this forum about the “P2W” term is the semantics of exactly what the concept entails. The true meaning has been warped by countless posts and statements using the term incorrectly. I get that if a term gets misused enough, it’s meaning actually changes but I personally still hold to the strict definition as it is (in my mind) a basic line that I will NEVER cross (much like monthly subscription fees).

Why sugar coat it. Each Asian Culture absolutely LOATHS all the others (often with some possibly valid historical reasons) and the mixing of the cultures is insulting and offensive to nearly all of them because of it. (Yes, I’m perhaps generalizing and stereotyping a bit with that statement, but my intent is to simplify the overall views as I understand them).
Also, doing something intentionally offensive for a laugh is considered “cool” in some Western circles….that is much less “tolerated” in Asian cultures (or so I have been led to believe).

For some of us, this has been happening for the last two weeks.
I wish players would quit confusing these issues….posting FUD just confuses the issue.
There is a BIG difference in some players having connection issues (due to whatever issues) and EVERYONE in NA having these issues because the NCSoft Server farm is being attacked (and this attack goes much deeper than than that).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Nothing can be done about this here….submit a ticket.
Blizzard released MoP to appeal to Chinese market. And here NCSoft don’t wan’t to offend Chinese market by releasing Cantha. Okay.
PS. If those rumours are true ofc.
The big difference there is that NCSoft (who owns Anet) is Asian and Blizzard is not….
The choice to make game content that could be offensive to an Asian market would be VERY different between a US based and Korean based company.
The idea is worth considering, but I think a simple single “burst” that would clear the stack damage all at once would be WAY OP. My thought has always been for the existing system to allow for an added packet of direct damage (based on stats already being kept up with by the stack code) when a stack becomes maxed and condition damage is “over applied”. Again, I’m sure the issue is limited computing resources that must be “managed” across an entire zone.
I think both players and Devs feel something needs to be done here, but I’m guessing the Devs have experimented with solutions and have come up empty handed on an acceptable solution.
You don’t have to spend gems for BL key…..it just take some time to earn them.
And for people who do not want to do map completion for BL keys, buying skins during the introduction 1 ticket period from key farmers is even easier. And if you don’t have enough gold, gem -> gold is there for you and excludes the gamble.
I’m not talking about map completion……Key farming takes 20-30 min for a GUARANTEED BL key. That’s how I’m gonna obtain 5 or more of the Ley Line Skins over the next 2 weeks (I had 3 BL tickets saved up).
This is not a bad thing, however the game really needs some some new content you can aquire ingame. It has been two years and everything gemshop related is either spending real life money, or grinding for gold.
While I’m not going to disagree that more in-game aquired skins would not be welcome by me, keep in mind the overall economic model this game runs on. Whether you (or I) like it or not, RL gem sales are Anet’s only income (sans new game sales). Again, you can dislike the model, but keep it in mind when complaining about the current situation of gem related content (that is NOT in any way required to play the game, BTW).

From OP example you have FIVE more LEGENDARY weapons and SIX unlocked skins. The duplicate example have ONE skin unlocked and a title (that is quite lame).
OP’s definition of MORE is baffling…..
As stated above, if the title is THAT desirable to you, craft another of the 6 Legendarys you already have…..you will then meet the criteria for that title.

The meta is berserker DPS and when it comes to that formula warriors do it best. Anything else and you’re sub par and gimping yourself. This isn’t a troll post, I’ve played every profession (excluding engi) up to level 40 and played a necro/ele/warrior at 80 in full exotics. Warriors are pure faceroll. Walk up, smash a button or two and you walk away with a mob kill and 90% health. Other classes need to bounce around, worry about placing skills or their health bar. In fact, I never even use my healing skill because the regeneration on it does the work for me.
If the game welcomed builds other than berserkers then the other professions would be worth playing, but ATM everyone should just play a warrior.
I see this post taking a number of ASSuM(E)mptions that show the OPs limited view of WHY players actually log into the game:
opening post -snip
dear user,
the game is horribly imbalanced
sincerily yours
- the past 20 months
….and yet players continue to play non-warrior classes….hmmm.
Beacause human female heavy armors show less body and breasts than medium and light armor.
Somewhere deep in my twisted, perverted mind, this does exist as a possibility (tho my Female Norn War does wear Barbaric….plenty of skin).

It was too work intensive for the Devs to maintain skill balance. Yep that was the reason given. I was like “Seriously?” If my development team admitted that and wanted to dumb the game down there would have been alot of job openings. They may as well have told me, “We can’t do the job sorry..”
I’m waiting for them to announce console versions of Gw2. I’m used to MMO’s that require a lot more thought and planning.
What an absolutely massive over-simplification of their design decisions….thanks for sharing your insight into building an MMO…what’s the name of yours again?
Wow, swtor, etc they all face the same challenges. Even the original founder of Anet ( Jeff Strain) was from Wow. In any job, either you’re up to the task or not. If not, admit it and ask for help. It’s the first sign of wisdom. I haven’t written gaming code, but I’ve tested them and watched them evolve as a beta tester longer than I care to admit. So that gives me a bit of room to critque a game.
Added:
In closing, players voicing their concerns and complaints can only help. Like Chef Ramsay says “I don’t give a …. about compliments and people blowing smoke up my …, I only want to hear the complaints”
There is a major difference in voicing concerns and complaints and flat out rude name calling of the Devs…. There is nothing wrong with pointing out you think it’s a “lazy” decision (I stated the possibility myself) but at some point, you need to learn internet anonymity should not be used as an excuse to be rude just because you CAN.
BTW, you missed my REAL point….see the old adage of, “those that can DO, those that FAIL critique…..”.
Someone in another thread mentioned a potential, “Entitled” title….+1

lazy developers
the last skins look so bad o_o i mean like first year graphic design testsis every “artist” in a-net is payed to just sit and do noting ?
So let me guess, your a future “art critic”, right?
Has it dawned on anyone that the texture issues might be the results of some technical spec limitation placed on the art….this is an on-line game.

Nah, flipping isn’t the problem. The reward structure in which so many things cost vast amounts of money instead of being able to do challenging content to earn a drop is the problem.
Thats because the TP is the most challenging content.
I’d say “challenging” is quite subjective in this response. I’m not apposed to “playing” the TP, I just don’t find the “challenge” enjoyable or relaxing. I’d rather play the game than play the market. My point of view is that neither method is right or wrong and that if you are doing either (or both) of them simply for the end reward alone, then just how enjoyable is it for you?
I came into this thread feeling that the jumping puzzles needed a longer timer, and frustrated by the annoying problems I had to start with. I still think a good compromise would be adding 5-10 seconds to the jump timers.
But I’ve beaten the content in Dry Top — all of it — with THREE characters, with my limitations.
I’m beginning to agree with the pro-jumpers here.
This is a reasonable request I can agree with (and from someone that has an actual dog in this hunt….). Kudos!
AFAIK, working as intended. NOT a bug.
Definitely a top suggestion for a gem store item…..good call!
Heck no. It should just be a toggle you select in the Finisher Panel. You set it to “Random Finisher”.
If wishes were horses…..(no, not a mount thread).
My bad. I thought they still had a very slight chance from BL chests (like the other perma items).
……. WvWXP, or the royal thingy pass
How I wish I could sell you those worthless storage wasters…..at least the last patch made them quite dropping. I have 5 and see NO use for them….maybe back when LA was closed but now they are absolutely trash (and to make matters worse, they do NOT stack).
Ascended crafting is not complicated in the slightest, you’re just a classic case of wanting everything straight away……
Have you looked at the flow chart of crafting Ascended? It IS MUCH more complex than any previous crafting recipe. You can argue it’s not TOO complex, but saying it’s not complicated in the slightest is just untrue.
On the other hand, your analysis of the true intent of this post is spot on.
So because your opinion disagrees with his opinion you are stating yours is the actual truth, but still based on no facts. You are racking him/her for making an opinionated statement, but are actually doing the same thing…. ^^
I stated my opinion as my belief, not as a “fact” that everyone MUST accept. I feel no need to “prove” my opinion to anyone as I’m not trying to convince anyone I’m right.
I’m smart enough to realize a few things here:
Asking Anet to make it “easier” to obtain a Legendary is not the same as (incorrectly, IMO) claiming the system is broken and MUST be fixed…..
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I would be happy with a preview that don’t require me to buy the kit in the first place.
If you EVER plan to change hairstyles, keeping one in your bank is NOT impossible. A few BL key runs will likely nab you one for free…..
still not fair with ppl who spend LOT OF MONEY and receive same a.pts and no title.
You do realize you can simply build another of any of those 5 Legendaries and you WILL get the title (if it actually means that much to you). Nobody is stopping you from actually earning the title.
You don’t have to spend gems for BL key…..it just take some time to earn them.
While the diversity of GW1 was glorious for players, it was an admitted NIGHTMARE for the Dev Team. It’s not incorrect to say they sacrificed the nearly endless combination of skills available in GW1 for simplifying the game for both casual player accessibility AND ease of game balance (in ALL areas of content). While some say it’s a result of a “lazy” design decision, I have to think it’s more of a smart move on the Dev’s part.
The game works well as it is and despite the claims of there being very limited builds for each class, that really only applies in specific game content (Dungeons, Fractals, high end PvP, etc.). You can easily play this game, enjoy it and use any build you want but players DO need to keep in mind that even in Open World PvE, your performance as a player CAN effect other players around you. This fact was also true in GW1 so in terms of what others would “accept” in certain content, there was an imposed limitation on build diversity.
I also find it confusing that the OP would ask if this is going to change, when the entire game is built around the concept that makes the games different. The question itself does not make much sense to me. Exactly HOW could this game change to be more GW1ish and not be a totally different game?

I’ve got to think it was an outage at Level3 and that guy is just yanking everyone’s chain.
I have a hard time believing someone intelligent enough to take down all NCsoft’s servers is stupid enough to admit it on-line via a source that could easily be traced back (at least to the ISP he’s using). Then again, it’s hard to fathom the twisted mind behind someone that thinks either performing on-line sabotage or claiming to do so is a good hobby.
Ok…read some if this guy’s drivel….#cyberjerk

You are aware all upgrades you have purchased so far will be lost…..right?
(well, not lost but unavailable to those not on the old server).
It helps bit but is not that big a deal in the long run.
Please don’t…..
Well an “infused” Ascended backpiece is not exactly what you asked for….and it appears you already knew the answer.
From what it looks like, the one guy intended to only take down Wildstar NA, but it seems they were actually pretty surprised to find that their attack on the Dallas datacenter managed to take out all NA NCSoft games.
If that is true – Wow.
“Don’t put all your eggs in one basket” comes to mind.
I certainly recall it being in the notes….but haven’t done him since (yet).
Blazeridge Steppes
Updated the Shatterer skill, Crystal Imprisonment, to hit more targets and be unblockable. Increased the health and duration of Crystal Prison. The intent of these changes is to ease access to the Shattered achievement.
Could be bugged (wouldn’t be the first time a change was the exact opposite of what they intended for some reason)?

Trying to reason with unreasonable players is futile….(like resisting the Borg).
Go to other starter cities (via portal gates to Lions Arch then to other cities) and clear some maps. Do every event you see pop up.
No more level problems.
Definitely a top suggestion for a gem store item…..good call!
