Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
Overclocking is not going to help much (unless you are talking EXTREME increases that would require some drastic changes to active cooling of the CPU).
Is your OS 32 bit or 64 bit? If it’s 64 bit then some additional RAM would likely help the situation (assuming you have some things running in the background….GW2.EXE itself cannot use more than 3.5 GB)
Also might want to investigate unlocking cores (or making sure they are currently unlocked).
I played with no lag from about 4:30AM to 6:30AM (Central US), so don’t know if this got cleared up or if this is not a generic issue (I’m connecting from Jackson, MS to Dallas datacenter).
Just a side note, the Server being FULL is not related to the number of players actively logged in. Either someone has to transfer OUT to another Server or Anet has to allow more players into the Server for it to become un-FULL. Trying at all hours is a good suggestion, but not because less people might be logged into it.
If all possible, I hope that stolen key account get banned as well. Gosh, this is theft from GameStop!
Is that sarcasm or are you genuinely surprised? It is pretty well known that the number one source of retail theft is from employees.

Pretty sure Chievo Chests will persist across zones and character log ins.
I recall an instance where I intentionally did not click on the chest for at least a 12 hour period and it kept bouncing around down in the corner while I played on multiple characters across EotM and various different zones and even Guild Missions.
If the OP SAW the 1500 pop, the chest should have appeared right then. Per above, you need to submit a ticket if it did not.
Chests show up in lower right corner (near where items you recieve into your inventory normally list) as chest icons and they shake every so often to get your attention. You must click on the Icon to open the dialog window where you can click on a button to accept the rewards.

If you are willing to wait until the next WvW season starts, Anet often widens the server limit a bit during the weeks before, but keep in mind they also UP the cost to join popular WvW servers (Blackgate for sure) and everyone else that wants to get onto Blackgate is also aware that’s the best time to try and transfer.
I don’t think EotM grouping is based on home server at all….

You will not get good DPS by combining Power and Condition Damage…..
All maths point to full Berserker if you want max DPS. You will drop like a rock when hit, but you will be max DPS.
Elementalist is fundamentally much more complex (due to Element swapping mechanic), but you are likely to learn the mechanics of combat much better. Now that’s assuming you don’t play “lazy” and run a build that hardly ever swaps elements…..(that’s certainly a viable option, but ignores the full potential of the class).
Guardian is quite fun and has some potential group mechanics that are quite interesting and beneficial. In terms of general survival, the Guardan is superior (but note that there ARE Ele builds that can out survive a Guardian if played correctly).
IMO, it is MUCH easier to play a good Guardian than a good Elementalist.
I have to disagree with purchasing ANY items until your reach 80. Maybe spend a little karma on a few Rare weapons, but save your gold until you can actually use it on some final equipment. Either craft or wear what drops (Jewelry is an exception simply because it does not drop).

If you care about skins, go on an unlocking spree?
When wardrobe first came out, I spent about 1.2 mil on just unlocking skins (and I still don’t have any Temple armor unlocked).
If you just want to convert to gold then the (reported) best bet is Karma Crabin’ Gloves from Bloodtide Coast (4 into Forge and Salvage (or sell) result). This takes quite a bit of clicking and time (I’m told), so if you just want it quick, Orrian Jewelry boxes are the best bet.

So you basically want to make Guild Wars 2 a completely different game?
Might I suggest that GW2 might not be the game you are looking for?
This is absolutely the main issue with 90% of these “SUGGESTION” threads in this forum…. This game does not need to be “like” some other game.
A few of these suggestions are interesting (the Trade route protection one is not a bad idea if linked to some timed window like the LS2 Sandstorms), but the rest are just old hat suggestions that simply are not reasonable (in terms of need, development resources or playerbase desire).
……
and the GW1 population gets smaller…..
As a percentage of total? I don’t see this getting “smaller” in terms of actual numbers. GW1 players are likely the ones to continue playing for years to come. Even if they are not active now, an expansion or full on revamp to some critical aspect of the game could easily get them back. The great thing about this game is you can not play it for years and still return.
I’m really confused as to what this rant is really all about
I think confusion pretty much sums it up for all involved…..
This is an interesting question. What is the EXACT wording of the Achievement text?

@Brother Grimm: it’s not free, I’m paying for it with “time” (playing the game) as a currency. It’s practically the same thing as farming gold then exchanging it for gems (they don’t make money from it) but it’s more fun for me.
Your time only has value to Anet if you turn it into gems (ACTUALLY farming gold) and buy the tool….
Your time played does not help ArenaNet keep the servers online, thus you are not paying with your time, you are spending your time. There is a HUGE difference.
However, you chances of spending RL money in the gem store goes down DRAMATICALLY (like 100%) if you are not logged in….Much of Anet’s content points to the fact that they are fully aware of it.
The idea of a temporary crafted gathering tool (with no effects) is not a bad idea…..
The other question that would be of interest in this discussion is if the standard gathering tools are any sort of significant gold sink.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
]NOTE: This can be considered an exploit as it might be an unintended way to convert Karma.
Anet can easily plug that hole if they want. I’ve seen this suggestion posted dozens of time and have repeated it as many and have never been infracted here for posting it. I’m gonna take that as it NOT being an exploit.
It is now very clear to me that people here are more concerned about PvP balance than the fact that condition-damage is severely underpowered in PvE group events.
I hate to break it to you but if it comes down to keeping PvP in balance and making your CD Necro awesome in the World Boss Train, PvP balance is gonna take priority……PERIOD. It has NOTHING to do with what “people here” are “concerned” about.
An expansion is Anet’s hidden Ace up the sleave. The minute the LS content development cycles do not generate sufficient gemstore revenue, THEN you will hear the word “expansion” start to surface. I have no doubt they are (at the very least), laying groundwork and writing story for something “larger” in terms of content, but since they appear to be making serious bank right now, why would they play their secret hole card now?
If they lose some players due to the current content structure, they are bound to gain them back when they DO commit to an Expansion. It’s a long game strategy.
Now quit your lollygagging and get back to the front, soldier!
What do you expect from Dust Bunnies?
There is a thread in one of the other forums (crafting or BL, not sure which) that a player details the amount of money he has spent on obtaining Precursors from the Forge. I think he was up to +30 Precursors and over 8K gold tossed in (previous number wrong):
Thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/crafting/Precursor-Research-30-crafted-DATA-PICS/first
Extrapolating, OP has a lot of farming (or flipping) to do…..

…..
Agree, but you left out one important word “related to ‘BROKEN’ RNG”
Not liking what you get from RNG is not proof it’s in any way “BROKEN”. All evidence I have seen is definitive proof RNG in GW2 works as well as can be expected from a computing system.
If you want to don your Tin Foil Fedora and make wild claims about “proof” RNG isn’t working as intended, start a new thread (or add to the 100s already on here).
I’ve said this once before and I will say it again; nobody should get to wield a fiery dragon sword without knowing who Prince Rurik is first.
A VERY valid point….
I have 23 points but it likely wouldn’t take me long to get 30. I have NONE of the weapon skins unlocked and only one Hero armor. Really need to do that cause my Ranger needs a BW Spider…..
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
uhmm gemstore has nothing to do with expansion packs, I think? Aren’t they “parallel” (as in the late GW1 for example)?
Unless you count the “unlocking episodes you missed by paying” of the LS2, which I don’t think it’ll be used very often…
You are completely missing the point…if they are making good money with the current development model, why would they change course? I think they all KNOW an expansion would be a guaranteed cash cow so they are keeping her in the barn until the current revenue stream starts to dry up. It’s less about what customers want right now and more about still making money five years from now. I know that sounds harsh, but it’s basic business sense.
“Hey Omar, wanna come with me to see the Grand Canyon?”
“No, no chests there. Plus it’s like Dry Top”
“What…?”…I actually am totally uninterested in the Grand Canyon, but like replace that with the Black Forest, some Euro castle, Dubai etc…
As a visitor to the Grand Canyon, no picture can do it justice…..you MUST stand on the edge to get the full effect…..
As I’ve said in other posts, this thread points out some basic differences between players that want to play a video game and those that want to earn rewards. It takes all kinds, but keep in mind other players just might have slightly different goals.
This game has never been about “Monty Haul” rewards and if you are looking for that there are other games that provide that “experience”. Asking for this game to change to be like another is not reasonable.

Uncheck ‘remember password’. Close launcher. Open launcher. Enter password. Check ‘remember password’. Play the game. Close the game. Run the launcher and see if it remembers your password.
Try:
Check if Launcher remembers your credentials.
If not, you might need to remove the settings ini file (don’t remember the details of where it is) and/or start the launcher with Administrator privileges (right click on GW2 icon and select Run as….).
BTW, how many characters is your password? I seem to recall some issue with uber-long ones.
What is the wattage of your Power Supply and how do you have the additional power inputs for the Video card connected?
I know this sounds corny, but have you tried reseating the Video card?
Keep in mind there has to be ROOM on the new Server for him to transfer…..
The Bazaar did exactly what Anet wanted it to do (their overall goal was pretty obvious from the variation in exchange rates for the Chests). Remove excess materials from players storage. I know it worked on me (to some degree).
I guess I have no evidence to support this so it’s pure speculation on my part….
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
…..
I do check their animation effects and nameplate.
Didn’t you answer your own concern to this “design flaw”?
instead of acc.bound crafting. (I can’t see that happening because of the fact that it gives exp. ) all recipes learned should be account bound. That would be a major QoL feature.
While I agree it’s a good idea for a change, am I going to get back all the karma I have spent on multiples of the same Recipes for different characters? I’m guessing it’s not a huge amount, but somewhere on the order of 10K-20K karma.
I’m not going to put up a big stink about it, but you can bet some players here WILL.
There’s alot of people upset over the wardrobe changes and runes on karma armour. tough kitten.
But they did make quite a bit of refunds, freebies and concessions when those systems were introduced. I’m not saying they made everyone happy but you must admit they made a rather good effort to do so (I was personally quite pleased with the results).
Note the above is about Wardrobe / Dye systems changes. Runes on un-salvageable items is STILL quite a dilemma that has never been resolved (and was really just a side effect of the Wardrobe System removing the ability to “move” runes to another item look).
My comment wasn’t to imply I was against the idea (I’d LOVE if all my recipes were available to all craters), but to play the Devils Advocate and mention the imminent “RAGE STORM” that would follow such a change.

Before posting more “gimme sumthin’ FREE, ANET!” suggestions, please consider where the money to continue to run the game Servers comes from.
It’s not ALL about what YOU as a player WANTS.
Don’t recall this ever being something they would consider reverting nor any Anet employee ever implying they would.
You do realize this has nothing to do with how many levels you can gain by crafting and just kind of worked out this way when they introduced 500 crafting, right?
Yeah….acronym is just too long and I consider the McRib a overly hyped and processed Marketing scheme, so I’m out…..
Just kidding….good luck!
What you’re asking for is highly subjective. What you consider a “good look” and “unique” might be something I consider hideous and visa-versa. There is no accounting for someone else’s tastes.
Bag items (mob loot bags) it doesn’t matter but Champ boxes it does. The material straight from Champ boxes will be the level of who obtained the bag, but generated items (sans named exotics) will come out based on the opener level. Note that I added the exception because I have recently gotten a number of LVL 80 named Exotics (no precursors….yet) while opening Champ bags with a LVL 50 character. I had heard this was possible but didn’t really believe it until it happened to me.
It depends on what you WANT out of them. If you are strictly looking for specific materials or materials to sell then that is very level specific. If you need / want Ectos or Rares / Exotics to toss in the Mystic Flusher, then not using a LVL 80 is counter productive.
I personally split mine up and open half on LVL 80s and half on lower levels (while I still have some).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
While the details ARE going to change, I think the consensus for SP 2 gold is promotion of materials in the Mystic Forge (a WIDE choice and what is “profitable” changes with the TP material markets).
There are 2 schools of thought on karma to gold:
The Skelk around the JP are the best source I’ve found for T6 Blood. I’ve never been very successful at getting the Arctordus to drop them (might just be an RNG thing).
You would be MUCH better served farming for T6 items in Orr (Cursed Shore, Malchor’s). Heavy bags are a much better source (but are not as focused on specific mats).
As mentioned above, while Powerful Blood is quite high on the TP, farming pure gold and buying them may be a better use of your time.
Unfortunately, this is going to be a rather expensive “learning experience” for you.
Adding upgrades to an item above “Fine” (Blue) status soulbinds that item to the upgrading character. Sorry you had to find out this way.
Use a BL Salvage kit on it and maybe you can get back some Ectos and Dark Matter (in addition to the Sigils).
Backpacks already existed, so “plushy” backpacks are like weapon or armor skins and thus are a very poor analogy to Mounts.
One could also say that a method of travel already exists in the game as well (which, after all, is why people keep being told that they don’t “need” mounts), so I think the analogy isn’t as poor as you’re suggesting.
But a mount would not be a simple reskin of the existing WP system (like your analogy is a simple reskin of an existing “system”). Adding Mounts would be a HUGE amount of work in nearly all areas of the game (despite what some advocates would like everyone to believe). From my perspective (and I’m gathering from the responses, a LOT of other players), those resources could be better used on MANY things to improve the game and add features that do NOT currently exist in another form.
Quite simply, it’s an unnecessary use of limited development resources and that’s the BEST reason it should not even be considered at this time.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
As a long time GW1 player (I started in June after the original release in April), I’m not overly apposed to this suggestion, it would remove the only REAL remaining reason for Anet to gain GW1 software sales (besides the fact that the game IS really good and worth playing). That fact alone is why I doubt this will ever happen (and there will be some “outrage” from certain GW1 players….not me, but others).
Assuming he doesn’t get killed by Mord this season…
There are worse fates than death awaiting him…..
I’m sure Morde would love to have the “Slayer of Zhaitan” as his main Champion….
There are obviously a myriad of reasons the PC should know this name and have some knowledge of this newly awoken Elder Dragon, but the first utterance of the name in any Personal / Living World Story was handled rather poorly, in my opinion.
A simple addition of the following lines, would have eased the name into player minds a bit easier:
“It looks like the work of the most recently awoken of the Eldar Dragons, to me.”
“You mean it’s Mordremoth, from Maguma Jungle?”
……
But that’s just my 2 cents. I believe any player would admit the sudden use of the name was rather “jarring”.
Do not assume since the hardware is all new, it’s all “good”. You can certainly get an out of the box failure item (and the above points toward a video card issue). Note that the above suggestion is not a bad one and you should try it.
Have you tried older video drivers or reinstalling the existing ones (with a CLEAN install)? I get you are saying this is only in certain areas, but keep in mind that many areas use different video post processing or effects and if the hardware or driver are having problems with specific ones, it WOULD appear to fail in those areas.
I think GW1 had a larger set of “optimal” and “near-optimal” builds than GW2 does.
There were also many more exotic/gimmick builds that were somewhat viable, which I thoroughly enjoyed making/using. I can’t think of any wacky builds in GW2 like touch rangers, for example…
I suppose that’s expected, since GW1 had more skills, a more flexible skill bar, and dual professions.
Touch Rangers are a GREAT example of WHY the Devs decided on a simplified GW2 skill set. I’m sure some balance Devs would love to discuss just how many potential viable Necro and Ranger builds were devastated because of that particular combo….Even after the PvE/PvP skill split, I recall that combo (Expertise & Necro Life Steal) causing havoc across all game modes….
Removing the condi cap is not going to affect solo play or smaller groups, which is where I feel conditions need the help.
Have you PLAYED with or run CD builds in these situations? CD is in fact a bit OP in player vs player situations and drops open world PvE enemies just fine….CD does NOT need help in those areas. Unless you can point out a specific situation you encountered to support your claim, I think you are very mistaken.
The ONLY place CD falls short is when multiple CD appliers attack the same target. ALL of their effectiveness is diluted and it gets worse and worse with each CD player added to the attack.
This idea would have be CAREFULLY tested and then implemented in a manner to remove the possibility of it becoming OP or exploitable.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Op’s stuff
You came here “to play a video game” – some of us came here for the rewards.
……
I think this one statement sums up the VAST chasm of space between the various fragmented player bases in this game. I’m someone in the middle (I want some rewards WHILE I enjoy playing a video game) and just don’t get the eternal pursuit of “MOAR LOOTZ!” (not there’s anything wrong with that).
Backpacks already existed, so “plushy” backpacks are like weapon or armor skins and thus are a very poor analogy to Mounts.
The ONLY reason I take AP in any way serious is when actual REWARDS were introduced with them. Before that, I never even looked at them. Just don’t care about the “number” as it’s only indicative of how much time someone has invested in the game and will tell you nothing about how well they play and certainly not how well they will play in any given activity or mode.
Anyone that thinks the AP number directly relates to skill in-game is simply delusional.
If you are running D/P, #2 is one of the best finishers in the game…..that’s pretty much it’s reason to exist.
They should bin the BLC altogether, and go back to the Eye of the North way, where you buy keys ingame for gold, and open random locked chests in open world.
Have you played any of the new LS content…..your wish is granted (sort of).
Keys are available as drops, story rewards and purchasable via a drop “currency” (Geodes).
When each zone gets a different key to haul around to open chests, this idea won’t seem so great…..(I see a “key ring” gem store item being “needed”).
I’ve obtained 4 and am keeping them all (because I DO like them).
