You need to realize that NO amount of $ shoved into hardware upgrades is going to get a silky smooth visual when 100 players are on the screen…..just not going to happen.
However, the upgrade you are talking about will certainly improve all aspects of the game rather significantly.
I am going to beg to differ on that now :-)
4790K OC to 5.0ghz, 8GB Ram OC to 2100Mhz, 280x OC 12% above reference.
Solid 28-30FPS in WvW last night.
Solid 28FPS at Maw (easily 80+ players on the screen)
I will post screenshots when I get home, forgot to pull them out of my screenshot folder on my desktop last night.
As stated above, very few players are going to consider 30FPS “silky smooth”. That’s perfectly fine to play the game and I’m sure it looks amazing out of a huge Zerg, but it’s still going to appear a bit “choppy” under those circumstances.
My current setup (a 2 year old rig with a fairly new video board) gets me about 12-25FPS in huge Zerg situations and I can live with it.
I don’t know what fantasy world people live in. Do people seriously expect Anet to keep the game going for free?
No one’s asking for “free” content, rather people question the means.
His comment has NOTHING to do with “free content”. It has to do with the fact that Anet MUST obtain RL money from Gem Store sales to keep the servers running. It’s the economic model this game runs on and complaining about this basic fact of how the game works is a complete waste of time and bandwidth. If you don’t want to spend RL money, Anet HAS provided an option (in-game gold to gems). They have also NEVER sold an item required to progress the game nor any items that provide distinct game play advantages in the Gem Store. It’s ALL vanity and convenience items that are not required to play.
The fact of the matter is, Anet MUST generate RL money Gem Sales or none of us will have a game to play.

You can double click the key or the chest so long as both are in your bags. Then you double click on the newly created unlocked chest to get the stuff.
This is no longer correct information (since the patch that changed the BL Chest image). Now, when you click on the key or the Chest (with both in your inventory), a new dialog window pops up and you have to click on a confirm button to actually open the chest and then you have to click on accept to get the displayed rewards. Note there is also a convenient button on this dialog that takes you straight to purchasing more keys in the BLTP.
There is another source for jewelry you didn’t mention. Many of the heart vendors sell trinkets at their level. For example, the very first heart in Queensdale sells earrings.
A list of items sold by karma merchants:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_karma_merchant_items
Yes, but I still suggest saving karma whenever possible. You will likely need it after LVL 80. Karma no longer falls from the sky like it used to.
The best way to get above the poverty line in this game is SAVE, SAVE, SAVE (i.e. don’t spend) while leveling to 80. Here are a few drops of wisdom from me to you:
Exceptions to the above:

What you need to do depends on how far along each of these “alts” are in terms of levels and how much $ you have spent on bag slots or other soulbound stuff……in other words, can you afford to consider deleting and restarting them with the “Destiny’s Edge” vibe?
You guys remember how much you “liked” this when you have to keep up with half a dozen different keys on each character…..or the need to purchase a gem store supplied “keyring” for each toon.
Head North….you’ll find them.
Really? All I found was Canadians and Santa Clause…
Seriously need to take a break from the game if you searched the RL world for Norns……
So those that “don’t like Jumping Puzzles” have never cleared a map due to the mandate that you MUST do some jumping to reach all the Vistas? Seriously, jumping has been in the game since release and while it is “optional” to some extent, I find it difficult to believe that any player has just NEVER hit the spacebar and feels “betrayed” if forced to do so to progress in the game.
The entire discussion is “hyperbole”, IMO. There is nothing wrong with disliking the Aspect skills and being forced to use them about a dozen times to progress the LS2 story, but the entire “Betrayal” drama is going a bit far.
I’m still convinced this is an issue where some other piece of software on this system is causing a conflict with the hey bindings (enabling hot keys, or some such other keyboard tomfoolery).
Just for grins and giggles. Build a new user on that system and try to run the game from that login (temporarily) to see if the problem arises then. If not, you have some sort of infection or background program associated with your current user profile that is causing the issue. Again, just a wild shot in the dark.
That certainly looks legit (as it gives you an option other than clicking a link to verify). A phishing email would do everything possible to get you to click to their site and ask for account info.
Am I to get excited about another dozen of the same useless mini?
On the other hand, the Birthday boosters were awesome.
I find it amazing that anyone expects the ONE entity that has no financial reason to WANT you to log off to remind you to log off.
I guess a dealer might cut off a customer about to OD (just so they can survive to buy more drugs later).
If you seriously feel the word “addiction” in any way describes your GW2 experience, perhaps you should just take a break for month or so. The game IS designed to allow for that to be possible with no financial commitment or loss.
In the end, just drop some AoE heals and go back to fire
^^ So much THIS ^^
FOTM have a specific format that doesn’t appeal to everyone.
The same could be said for Dungeons in general….
I’m not opposed to new Dungeons, but it is a HUGE commitment of resources to an area of gameplay that is not frequented by a large segment of the player base. While Dungeon runners are vocal and might have a large presence on these forums, in terms of the general player base, a HUGE segment (upwards of 50% from the last Anet stat release) has never even entered a Dungeon (partially due to the attitude of those that frequent them).
Anytime I run up hill or even at an angle, this is visible. I do not have to change my camera angle on purpose for this to be seen. You assume I am a guy? I doubt any of the perverts who play this game would take the time to post a screenshot and request a change. But I bet they do enjoy this glitch.
You underestimate the ability of OCD to override perversion…..wait….oh….never mind.
Since the game is not designed to HAVE dedicated healers, I’m not sure how the OPs epiphany is a surprise to anyone (except maybe the OP). Now if you are busying healing (that should NOT be needed, BTW) and not attacking your rewards WILL likely be lower than the damage dealers.
I know lots of GW1 monks that sob a bit when realizing the above…..on the other hand, I’m out playing rather than spamming “LFG need healer” in chat….
Agreed. And they need to get rid of the 25 max. condition stack. I would love to have a condition-based build, but it’s useless. The whole Player vs. A.I. paradigm in this game needs a total rework.
As mentioned hundreds (if not thousands) of times before it is much more difficult than just typing “get rid of 25 stack limit”. There is a limited amount of computing resources on the server side that makes the stack limit necessary. I seriously doubt the solution is simple or it would have already been fixed.
I’m not saying don’t ask for a change to it, just don’t act like they can just flip a switch and remove the 25 stack limit and everyone can start spamming conditions on Claw of Jormag with no effect to the entire Frostgorge Sound server.
I can tell you where they are not. Engaging with the customer’s here.
I’ve read the customer’s idea of “engagement” and I fully understand why they choose not to “engage”…..
This entire thread is a prime example.
It’s not that simple. The 8350 will take a dump on the i5 in heavily threaded applications and games that actually use the cores (like BF4 and many newer games). In the future, more games will take advantage of the greater number of cores and threads. The 8350 also overclocks like a beast while the i5 cannot be overclocked (it’s not an unlocked cpu).
if ALL you care about is GW2 then get the i5, as GW2 will not make full use of the 8350. if you like to do other things on your computer like photoshop, new games etc… then consider the 8350.
personally i’d go with the 8350 simply because it is far more versatile and will be better in the long run as games and applications use the extra cores.
Wow…AMD needs you on their Marketing team…..or as a lawyer….
No game server will ever be configured to respond to a ping for a litany of security reasons. Try a tracert (but keep in mind that only works TO the destination, not back to your PC).
This was mentioned during beta and nothing has changed to this point….don’t mean to burst your bubble, but……doubtful.

However, the upgrade you are talking about will certainly improve all aspects of the game rather significantly.
I just got hard copy Heroic Edition (2 discs), and I’ve installed the game, and now its downloading a 15GB patch. Is that the current size of the game?
Looks like I the discs are pointless and all thats needed at this point is the arenanet account code.
The last statement is true (that IS all you need to get the game client, install and then log in). However, the disks do install much of the content so the download is shorter (but still HUGE). The total DAT file (content DB on your local system) size is now approaching 20GB (just over 19GB).
The actual download is only new / changed content and re-downloading any corrupted content. Keep in mind the game has been out for +1.5 years so the new / changed content is rather large.
So if i am on holiday or whatever, i have to pay for a story that i missed?
As opposed to the previous solution (you have no option to ever play or access it), which is better?
I’m still confused as to how she can have this awesome version of a portal skill, but can’t Rez a downed Zeph before they die.
Head North….you’ll find them.
I’m not even that hateful about the style and image….but the color pallet and combination is simply horrific to me. Again, there is no accounting for other people’s tastes….
Nope, you just get thrown into the events. Who are this comrades? Who are zephyrites? What’s going on? No answers, here is story in your face.
So the same complaint could be leveled at every PART 2 movie ever released.
There is plenty of resources available to explain and summarize LS1 for players.
Took me awhile to find him and the ramp up, but yea no jumping required for the final battle….
Plenty of Secondary platforms to Range him from as well. You do need to avoid his mines/bombs, but you don’t really even need to dodge (just don’t use “lock” skills unless he has just used his explosives).
You WILL get into trouble if you try to battle him from below (too many other foes). There is an easy ramp up to the main platform next to the narrow bridge section below the main entrance. I found that trying to secure and use the random Wind Aspects to get to the upper level is not worth the effort (find and use the ramp).
Soloing him is NOT recommended (can certainly be done, but will require some finesse and very good movement skill).

well related with this post i have been trying to change my account email ,but still no success, i have lost access to my account email about a week ago and already asked the support 2 times to change my account email, they always say the same thing “After researching the provided information, we will not be able to assist you with accessing this account.” i am trying to protect my account and i can’t do it with this crappy system,if i wait more time i will surelly lose my guild wars 2 account to some hacker ,and i don’t want that to happen i have waste some time and effort on this game and still do.
Submit a ticket (with all the answered questions) via the website (not an email request). Basically, the reply you are getting is saying, “We don’t believe you are the original account owner, but are not going to tell you that to protect the original owner’s identity and account”.
When you say you “lost” your email account, was it hacked or closed by the provider? If it was hacked, you need to 100% make every attempt to re-secure it (and it is likely your GW2 account has already been hacked and stripped).
I prefer lowering the price to the middle of buy orders and sell orders (1.5s if an item has a sell order of 2s and a buy order of 1s)
it amuses me, and I don’t feel dirty for 1c undercutting
It depends on the volume on Sell orders (and potentially buy orders) as to whether this is the “smart” move (discounting the time to sell issues). If it’s all about selling first for you, this is the preferred method.
I tend to think 80% of those that casually use the TP have NEVER done any interaction beyond selling to the highest buyer….obviously the TP interface is designed this way.
This would stomp on one of the actual game-play reasons for a Legendary Weapon. Doubtful.
Now a single use item that can TRANSFORM an existing exotic to another set of stats (whether a crafted / forged or gem store item), might be possible. Maybe an NPC that can perform this service?
I have to agree that 20 PPs is a bit much. Maybe 5 (same as the Cactus). Maybe it should be 2 and an extra zero got added?
Badges are easy to earn in EotM (no problem earning 250 -500 / hr or more if the commander has that goal in mind) and exotics earn T5/T6 materials, Ectos and Dark Matter…..it DOES make sense that you cannot use conventional Salvaging on them.
That being said, we DO need some method to obtain upgrades off these items without spending 250 gems / pop.
Any exotic gear behind gates at this point is ridiculous.
^ This sums it up right here. It’s ludicrous.
Not sure I’d use all those exaggerated terms but it does need to be changed….
Nobody at Anet EVER said it wasn’t coming back….that was pure player speculation (which I also bought into). I get the feeling, but blaming Anet because you believed an unreliable source is not really fair.
They do have story and lore but you have to speak with the NPC to get that. The instructions are available on screen for those that don’t WANT or CARE about the story.
It’s an attempt to please to a wider audience (I personally think it’s rather successful), but if that is a major issue for you, then maybe this just isn’t the game for you. Being FORCED to speak with the NPC in order to start performing the task feels like a linear path I’m being forced down (tho doing the task without the back-story ends with the same results).
Your best bet is to try and find a group of Guildies that are doing it and request to travel with them. Since it can only be done in the story instance, this makes the Chievo kind of difficult to gain without some planning (unless you are a VERY good JPer).
In short, the new system does kind of “screw over” those that want to change (or maintain) their look during level up (as pretty much everyone had many spare transmutation stones (Yellows) to use for this. On the other hand, those spare stones can be turned into something useful for ALL skin applications now (so they were not just taking up space storage if the player had only 80s to deck out).
I do think they need to come up with some better method to EARN transmutation charges but since it is purely a vanity issue, I can see it being mainly a gem store purchase item. You can still get them by clearing city zones with new characters and from BL chests.
BUT.. They should implement a mode that allows you to go 1st person view only if not doing any action or in combat.
Isn’t combat exactly where you’d want to have first person view?
Are you suggesting it as a “challenge” mode of sorts? I can think of no other reason you would want to reduce your field of view and eliminate the visual awareness of the surroundings during a fight.
I’m quite baffled as to why anyone would want this in a game designed for 3rd person combat? There are plenty of FPS games on the market that were DESIGNED to provide challenging combat from First Person view.

I send a ticket to customer service and they asked me to destroy it, so that they can help me.
Waiting for response now, I hope they can restore my item.
I’m sure they will send you a new one once they verify that you destroyed the old one.
As long as they have GW2 enemy AI I think we are all safe….
I’m not a huge fan of the Aspect skills, but their use is limited across the zone and there are very few “die if you fail the jump” locations (sans working on specific achievements). I think they did a very good job NOT forcing players to use the skills too much (tho I feel the limited timing and limited number of uses at different locations is kind of confusing).
Most certainly this content will not appeal to all players. But it is certainly doable with a minimal of “Mario Brothers” game-play.
It seems it can stay open much longer depending on the Event Success inside.
So this is immersion braking, but flying ships made of bamboo and held up by sails is scientifically sound fiction…..m’kay….
Most likely not.
You can try contacting support, but wouldn’t count on it.What a thoroughly crappy way to implement a great idea. If there is a way, ANET finds it.
So the fact that you liked the skin enough to transmute over it has no bearing on this situation? Yes, blame Anet for failing to give you back a skin for FREE you basically threw away….
Good luck getting help with that attitude.
All anyone here can do is tell you how the system works. If you want to be “an exception”, work that out with Customer Support.
I don’t like being hit up -.- I already put money into the Black lion Gems… I have bought all 3 campaigns and played the original game for quite a while. Legacy benefits should be available to all legacy accounts! It takes nothing away from those who bought EotN … It isn’t unfair to them at all. It’s Dishonest in a way to those like me.. who ARE LEGACY ACCOUNTS!! to be told you need to shell out another 20 dollars for a game that’s 5 years old and hardly active anymore. Its not a reasonable demand.
While I can see your (very negative, BTW) point of view, as stated above, this was NEVER hidden or dishonestly represented by Anet. They were quite clear about EotN being the method that GW2 bonus rewards would be made available to players in GW2. Your demanding attitude that this should change nearly 5 years later is quite unreasonable.
That is one of the reasons why speculators are bad: they make gold by draining other players gold.
So this entire thread is about anti-capitalism in general (because the above is pretty much a justification for any free market). Glad I didn’t waste my time reading all of it….
Yeah, if you would’ve read the whole thread, you probably wouldn’t post that comment.
And capitalism is neither about draining others money, nor is being against peolpe who make profit at someone else’s expense anti-capitalsm.
I was actually joking, but if any of you think REAL Capitalism (not the Economic term) isn’t about a fool and his money being separated you are sadly delusional….
