Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
Elementalist is definitely more work (to play well) but Mesmer is not far behind (# 3 behind Engineer). Really depends on what you consider “fun” to be able to answer the question.
The title of this thread does not promote any type of meaningful discussion…
Condition damage is broken in terms of Zergs vs 1 enemy. Other than that, it works fine.
Should they try to fix it? YES. Does the manner the OP starts this thread in any way allow for that….NO.
If you have a reasonable suggestion (other than, “It should work like these other MMOs……”), make them.
EX: My proposal is to allow for some scaled direct damage packet to be applied to any enemy with maximum stacks of a condition. Getting this to work both technically (so this does not overburden zone servers) AND in a balanced manner (so Condition damage from 50 players does not become the new OP meta), is the challenge.
GW1 used HEXES and Anet spent 7 years trying to balance them (with wildly divergent degrees of success). They obviously felt the challenges of keeping them from being OP or useless was not worth the trouble in the new game (can’t say I blame them, but I do love me some GW1 Spiteful Spirit, Assassins Promise and Panic…..)

From the info you guys have been posting, there is obviously some issues with Level 3 routing and Anet has no direct method to fix that kind of issue. Have any of you attempted to open a support ticket and provide the traceroute info to someone that might be able to pass it along to someone at Level 3? Very few actual Devs view this site (mostly self-help from other players).
I’ve been in EotM since the beginning of the match up and don’t see these lag issues but obviously EotM runs on different servers. BTW, I’m on Yak’s Bend from Mississippi.

Unless he is actually moving locations, then the IP he is getting SHOULD be from the same subnet of his ISP and the authentication will eventually widen the authorized IP range to include his dynamic addresses. Is this a cell connection or some other form of wireless WAN?
LCD monitors do not actually “refresh” so if you aren’t using a CRT, there is no visual (in terms of screen flicker) difference between 60Hz and 144Hz. Now screen tearing and image choppyness CAN be a result of a lower screen rate, but LCD screens do NOT flicker like old CRTs could.
I spend all mine of obby shards.
You seriously can’t go wrong with this suggestion…..
With the new trait system you won’t be able to afford traits until you start skill point grinding at level 80. There isn’t a way to transfer skill points but if you have any scrolls they are account bound you can switch them over to your thief.
That is so untrue….I’ve bought plenty of Traits on my new (since Trait patch) character. You do need to be careful about what skills you unlock, but as long as you are clearing areas during level up, the skill points are there. Also, Tomes and Scrolls of knowledge aren’t exactly hard to get these days….
Since the OP was asking about the looks, when it comes to the Guardian I’ll only say one thing:
Beware the Aegis.
There are a few shields that the Aegis symbol actually looks good over, but it is functionally sub-par to just about every other off-hand and 2 handed choice.
I just unlocked 15 chests and refuse to open any more until the Dragon Coffers get removed….They are HORRIFIC in terms of rewards and I’d much rather have the guaranteed booster combiner (that was there just prior to the Coffers).
What’s up with SOULBOUND fireworks??
Go run around Orr and you’ll get your mob….
The fact that NOBODY has mentioned the possibility of a shield on a Guardian proves how much that weapon needs to be tweaked…..
Engineer has some valid uses for a shield between Kit swaps.
Never liked the Warrior Shield skills….too many other valuable off-hand possibilities in my opinion.
An expansion would instantly revive sales and player log in.
I wonder WHY they wouldn’t want to put that out now when they are not having financial issues and are making decent money with just LS releases and the Gem store?
HINT: Reinforcements are held back for a reason when you are playing a long term game.

Not being as big of a company is no reason to not have a roadmap.
It just means you don’t put as much stuff on it. Leaving customers in the dark is bad business.
Even if every light you shine is turned into a bonfire to light the torches and storm your castle? I seriously feel the entitled, elitist, greedy attitude of the community is 75% to blame for the darkness all around you.
I’m sure they DO have a roadmap, but they just don’t want to show it to the brats sitting in the back seat……you will see the Disney World signs soon enough.
On precursor crafting (my 2 cents): They never had ANY intention of allowing existing precursors to be crafted. They will be part of the all new series of Legendary weapons.
PvE: Warrior, closely followed by guardian.
WvW: The Zerg
PvP: Classes that fit into the metawhat does Zerg mean ??
Think I’ll stick with a Ranger, I was thinking about it because of the long range and now I’m quite certain
Noo.
No no no no no no.
No!
Please. Dont. Do. The. Bearbow.
You have no idea how much you are hurting serious rangers like me with that.
Go play warrior or something, they are super easy in every format and game mode.
Kthx
While bad (lazy) players are PART of the Ranger dislike issue, The fact that the class (STD Bearbow) is almost guaranteed to teach really BAD play habits to new players is the REAL issue.
I love my Ranger, but I can tell I’m playing “lazy” after extended sessions with a bow build.
Check your associated email account is not hacked….that is the most common compromise vector right now.
……So short of a trustworthy friend on the old.server…..
….that is already a member of the Guild in question AND has access to the stored items.
How did you NOT expect an install of an MMO released nearly 2 years ago to not take “hours”?
Note that the warning when you switch Servers specifically states no Guild resources will transfer to the new Server.
Mobile Authentication will eliminate the authentication emails but the Authorized Network issues will still remain. The authentication is just much easier.
Per above, you will eventually quit getting authentication (if you check the “remember” box) when you Network Range gets learned.

I’m not apposed to the idea of SOME specific items being limited to ONE TP sale (so those items BOUGHT off the TP become Account bound), but not all items…..I’m also not sure how what those items are is decided (tho I’m guessing Precursors and possibly Legendary weapons top the list).
However, this is a slippery slope to start down and artificially controlling the TP like that is the first step to accepting that Anet can openly interfere in a supposedly free marketplace.
I am seriously considering putting a hold on my key farming until the Dragon Coffers get taken out as one of the 4 items from BL Chests….. those things give HORRIFIC rewards.
WTH are fireworks SOULBOUND?
If you need the T6s for something specific, yes.
For profit….maybe.
While that’s not a bad idea, it does not need to be a guaranteed recipe for a precursor, but some percentage chance of a precursor (say the 20% for a promoted item) and all other would simply be another Ascended item. I’m also suspecting that the resultant Precursor would be Account Bound (up for debate, but very likely not for TP resale).
Also, Ascended Rings are NOT difficult to accumulate (via Fractals), so those would likely be excluded in some manner (tho, the idea of Legendary Trinkets have been mentioned in terms of Jewelry crafting to 500).
Not to be nitpicky but this would be Precursor “Forging”, not crafting, per se.

Temple of Balthazar, the Straits of Devastation.
….or any OPEN temple in Orr. Cost Karma.
Until tomorrow (I’m guessing), you can also get them for Festival tokens at an NPC in the 4 Winds Cliffs zone.
Where is that beaten mount pic when you need it……
You mean this one?
EXACTLY….thanks
Note that the material market is in a state of change due to the Festival Chests so, Mystic Forge promotion of materials is not very profitable right now (if at all). If you did a bunch of material BUYs BEFORE the Festival and are SELLING the promoted materials now, you would be rolling in gold.
While I get the OPs point, there is no reason to be insulting to the Developers in this way. It is VERY difficult to write a G Rated story for an MMO that NEEDS to be non-offensive to everyone and tells an engaging story (and make no mistake, GW2 has ALWAYS been all ages friendly and has never claimed or been advertised as anything different). I’m not saying it couldn’t be better done, but claiming it, “attracts no one at all”, is a flat out exaggeration.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Well,… GW2 is a big boy and handles itself now… NCSoft puts all his attention on his newborn WildStar. I won’t expect much improvement in this game from now on.
Actually, if NCSoft loosens its “grip” on GW2 a bit, that could be a very GOOD thing in terms of development direction and pressure to be the cash cow of the company.
There were never ANY promises on WHEN crafted precursors would be released. Granted, they indicated they were aiming for 2013 and they are obviously behind schedule on this, so an inquiry is justified.
However, anything they say on the subject (short of an announcement it’s going to be in the next release), is just fuel for the continual “Anet lied to us!!!!” fire, so I can’t really blame them for saying nothing until it’s ready for release.
Thus I end up laughing at humans, and making a gorgeous sylvari thief that I have yet to see any human even come close to equaling visually.
Now that is something highly subjective
….and sorely lacking a good balsamic vinaigrette…..or compost.
Why are you guys bantering about minor math mistakes when the real issue is WHY is Charged Quartz still time gated? I get that maybe you shouldn’t be able to convert 630 of them in one sitting, but is 1 / day still needed? How about it get changed to 1 / character / day or maybe 5 / day. Nobody is logging in every day to JUST convert Charged Crystals any longer (except maybe the OP).
Total size of present DAT file is nearly 19GB. I have no idea what amount of data is installed from the DVD.
Sorry I couldn’t help but I do appreciate you doing the mission with me and my son.
Have you tried the LFG tool?
…… because the TV series was just a soap opera with swords.
If that is your serious opinion of the show, I can’t even fathom what you consider high quality TV…… I fail to recall any TV production that was more impressive in just about every respect.
I don’t disagree that there was “embellishment” of the story for TV just to get some skin and sex on the screen, but none of it was not within the bounds of the story and characters involved.
It is outrageous to get closer to 5000 hrs played and receive non precursor.
Your number of hours played has no effect on RNG drops….just letting you know so you can re-evaluate what is and is not ‘outragous’.
For any chance greater than 0%, no matter how small, the more shots you take at it, the closer the chance to hit upon success at least once gets to 100%.
For example, if you take 5000 gambles at 1 in 1000 odds, the chance to win at least once is a little above 99%.
Seeing how long and how intensively people play this game without getting precursors, the drop chance for those kitten things must be incredibly small. Some might call it outrageous and I wouldn’t argue.
You missed my point entirely. I was arguing that the length of time you play has NO bearing on the odds of a precursor ever dropping. I’ll give you the semantics argument over the term “outrageous”, but it’s a well known fact that precursors are a long shot as a drop, so certainly should not be surprising.

Wow…..good to know you never made a mistake.

This is really a matter of comparing your actual in-game maps to the wiki ones you can find thru THIS page: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Explorable_zone
You are looking for white text areas that your actual maps do not have listed. You can easily complete a map and yet not find areas that are semi-hidden. My “bane” was “Tail of the Serpent” in Timberline Falls (far SE edge). There are half a dozen areas in that zone that have NO items you must have for map completion. The list Rose gave above is very helpful (it’s what I used to find missing areas in Shivereaks, Kryta and Ascalon.

Good horse….stay dead….
To unlock a skin in your wardrobe, you need to either:
a. Equip it (making it account bound/soulbound)
b. Destroy it
c. Right-click on the item and select “Unlock Skin”. (This will also make the item account bound.)I unlocked a lot of skins for my Fashion Collector title via crafting (or by purchasing cheap crafted items on the TP). One thing to remember is that kitten, T4 and T5 non-Rare crafted weapons all have unique skins. (They use the same skin, but with different colour schemes.)
Not to be picky but you can also:
e: Salvage.
I thought the OP was going to blame GW2 for his lower back pain….
Where is that beaten mount pic when you need it……
It depends on the build, but a POWER build for an Engi would be very AoE heavy (Grenades, Bombs, etc.) and thus can damage many enemies at once. They generally lack a lot of condition removal and stability, so can be countered (so they are NOT OP).
As far as bad things go, while the Turrets have recently been improved, they are still “bugged” in a variety of ways (go check the Engi forum for details). Engineers are heavily geared to be VERY strong Condition Damage dealers, but in general Condition Damage is not in a great place right now in terms of end game modes. This is not really the fault of the Engineer class but the way Condition Damage works in GW2 in general.
If you are not talking about legit retail sellers of gem CARDS, this thread will be deleted shortly….
If you format some devices (like SD cards, etc.) for NTFS, they will not function in non-PC devices (like cameras). There is a reason the default for removable media is FAT32 (on PCs at least). If you are sure you will never use the device on anything but a Win XP or higher PC, NTFS is fine (but NOT the default for formatting on a PC).
Certainly for this operation, NTFS is REQUIRED if you are using a non-HD device.

Has this been reported as a bug to Support or in the Bug Forum? This is NOT something anyone that frequents this board (player wise) can likely help with.
Also, is there any chance we can get a year in the post date? Is this thread a few months old or over a year old?

There have been issues with certain ISP / Internet service that is not properly finding the Anet update servers (I think it’s Verizon’s new fiber). Their DNS is messed up and they either don’t know how or refuse to fix it. If you set your DNS to point at an alternate DNS server (like Google), that should clear up the problem.
There are threads on the subject here but since the Search feature is FUBAR….good luck.
Loss points outside your network have NOTHING to do with ports opened or closed on your end…… The port only has to be opened in one direction (so a diag from outside WOULD likely report it as being closed. You do NOT want to open it for incoming traffic.
They had some earlier issues with a combat email sent out in error…multiple times, so it’s not surprising there is something not quite right with the automated mail system. Might want to report (or have this thread moved) in Bug Report forum rather than here (tho it is a legit account issue as well).
There are loot bags Silver Doubloons can drop from……can be farmed directly or purchased from TP (potentially profitable without ANY SD drops).
4 Nuggets / Marks can produce them from the Flusher.
A Guardian can “faceroll” just as well as a Warrior….don’t see your point. I like playing both….they are different and yet neither are very likely to be taken down in PvE unless you do something stupid.
