Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
OP obviously does not realize that it’s less about HATING the ZERG than about doing the event properly to earn BETTER rewards….. Then again, maybe some players want to use Skill 1, die repeatedly and be AFK for 40 minutes than actually FIGHT a boss (maybe 2) for less than 10 minutes and earn much better loot…..that seems typical of some of the GW2 player base.
Again, not paying attention, but at least some other people are actually reading.
I fully read your OP. You are stating that because YOU like to ZERG no content that does not SUPPORT the Zerg mentality should exist….. You emphatically imply that everyone should enjoy Zerging and it’s not “GW2 cannon” if you don’t “embrace the Zerg”…..total tripe.
No, he is saying anti zerg content was implemented poorly, and shouldn’t be implemented while there are still no in game tools to aid with the coordination that these events require.
That is NOT what the OP stated….re-read it. Him changing his tune after being called out for his OP is does not change his original, “ZERG IS CORE OF GAME….EMBRACE IT!” statements…..THAT is what I am commenting on (not his backtracking and changing his story later in the thread).
You’re doing it wrong.
This applies to SO many complaints in this game…..
I finally hit a Server where less than 2 dozen people were on her and we all KNEW to take out the Turret. She went down in less than 3 minutes.
This is the worse skill in the game in terms of lag sensitivity…..while it may not “seem” the errors are related to lag, they fully are. Movement skills are always buggy in terms of lag sensitivity and the problem is the EXACT location your character ends up at is altered by very small client / server timing error (lag). Elsewhere in the game, this EXACT location is not absolutely critical (in most cases) and is normally directed toward an enemy target so it’s much less crucial your location be precise. However, if you are jumping toward a bamboo beam that is only a few units wide, EXACTLY where the game positions you on landing IS quite important (and will be WRONG if lag is just enough).
Due to this fact, I FULLY support the removal (or reduction) of the Cliff WP costs….I know it’s a “gold sink” and if you have a good bit of gold, it’s not a big deal, but for new players it can be more than a PitA.
On the other hand, be a bit patient when you fall and use chat to request some help. Unless you are in a VERY remote area (or on an unreachable ledge), some nice player will soon show up to Rez you (and save you the couple of silver to WP). It’s completely up to you if waiting 30 seconds is worth a few silver or not.
Search “GW2 cooking recipes” on Google and find a website that lists all the possible cooking recipes. Sort them by crafting requirement, go to the section just below your current level and start discovering recipes you don’t yet know. Go back to lower tiers if you need to, but keep in mind that those discoveries will earn less crafting XP.
Note that there are several KARMA NPCs down by the docks in Lab Cliffs (Bazaar of 4 Winds) that conveniently allow you to purchase normally hard to find or access cooking ingredients. I suggest buying at least ONE of each bulk item and potentially a couple of the herbs and fruits. Don’t go crazy as KARMA is not a plentiful or as obtainable as it once was.

As mentioned above, I don’t think they technically are capable of awarding rewards of any kind.
Never thought of that, but it’s a good bit of information to have.
Thanks for posting back with confirmation.

So you don’t trust Anet, but you DO trust YAHOO… and their “free” email account?
All the potential speculation on how you got hacked is in this and other threads here. Believe what you want, but don’t make accusations without more proof than a few “unexplained” hacks and your highly intuitive logic.
When in doubt, Click the crossed swords in the upper left screen to enter Heart of the Mists (Player vs Player lobby). You can then go thru the portal in front of you (may take a minute to load into view), to return to Lions Arch. You can then access the portal at the LA hub to take you back to Divinity’s Reach.
LA is kind of a mess right now….you want the city hub portals near the center of the map. so head north across the damaged bridge to get there.
Note that the above process will allow you to travel BACK to any of the cities from anywhere in the game (when you are not n combat)….for FREE.
I said you were exaggerating and provided EFFED UP DATA to a new player, not that you were a “liar”. Put that quote up on the Warrior forum and if you don’t get feedback that most will find it “insulting”, I’ll take back that part.
I know plenty of Eles that hardly ever change attunements…..there are bad players in every class and not learning the knowledge of the game is part of that issue (for ALL players). You are not REQUIRED to learn game mechanics to play an Ele either (you will just suck at it…and die a bunch). Again, Warriors are far more forgiving and MAY be a better choice to START playing the game with because of that.
Tossing a brand new player into a highly techncial class has a much higher likelyhood of making them quite the game in frustration than teaching them to learn the mechanics of the game….it highly depends on the player and what they are looking to “invest” in the game.

Apart for the obvious drama potential your idea has, if I was Anet I wouldnt allow it. Though you probably wont do anything wrong or illegal as such, Anet needs to keep an eye on a lot of logs to make sure. They need to check that it isnt some white lvl 1 item changing hands for 100 gold. Every time.
But the drama potential alone would make me very sceptical.
Though it would be cool if you someday have your own stand in Lions Arch
Agreed….my thought is Anet will feel allowing this type of “service” is not worth the effort they will have to put out to “police” it. It may work fine under their radar but when the first support tickets surfaces, they may be put in a position that requires account closure(s) to resolve for good.
Just mentioning it as a possibility.
The core and basic idea of the entire combat system is built and balanced on specific weapons having specific skills…..I seriously doubt this is going to happen.
Entirely new weapons for each class? I’m pretty sure that WILL happen (and I’m guessing sooner than later), but being able to change a weapons skillset….not likely.
It seems that some here do not understand that just because something may be technically possible does not mean it SHOULD be done. The same goes for a player “wish list”. This request goes against the main premise of the combat system and how Anet balances it. While it may be “kewl” for you to be able to mix-n-match weapon skills, trying to make the game balanced and playable would become a technical nightmare if this were possible.

I’ve got no problem with Zerg content existing, but there should be OTHER content and Anet attempting to design something that punishes massive Zerg behavior is NOT a horrific crime against the “core gameplay”, but just an attempt to do something that requires DIFFERENT gameplay. Now whether or not it is a successful attempt remains to be seen as I have only tried the Blitz 2 or 3 times so far and have never gotten anything better than a Bronze Chest (mostlly BECAUSE too many players “embrace the ZERG”.
…and the report is texture / model errors?
Try repairing your GW2.DAT file.
This is not about NET NEUTRALITY guys. This is about some incompetent tech or engineering setting up something wrong within their network.
Now it is possible that the reason the changes are being made is due to Network usage reconfiguration related to the NET NEUTRALITY argument / issue…..but we will never know….could just be installation of new equipment and the guy installing it doesn’t know how properly because Cisco changes their firmware like toilet paper rolls to prop up their lucrative certification programs.
Memory or Power Supply.
Not highly unusual to get a bad DIMM or PS out of the box (that will be borderline and GW2 stresses more than your other programs).

Packets leaving a network does not mean there is not a DNS problem or some other issue within their network….
TracerRT does not show a RETURN path (that is necessary for a file transfer). The fact that the download appears to START is full proof that the request is going thru to Anet’s servers.
The fact that another DNS resolver works fine when you are USING their network very much implies it’s a DNS issue on their network. In any event, there is NOTHING Anet can do directly to fix this issue and a workaround (that other customers confirm) has been provided.
Your best bet is to contact her cousin and respectfully request they pay you for the account and buy her another one…..
Have you refreshed that page? When I logged back in (via the Authenticator w/o remembering my network) my page also listed my previous network still (even tho I had removed it). When I refreshed the page….it was gone.
If what you say is true, you need to contact support as your account is NOT acting normally.

No they cant…..
I beg to differ….they CAN and as you stated…THEY do…..all companies do. If you mean they SHOULDN’T, that is a different issue and we are arguing semantics that do nothing to solve the actual problem. The fact is (again, like you stated) companies WILL NOT state they “may” be at fault as that would simply be a PR nightmare.
You are right that customers will be the last to know, but a company CAN say whatever they want about any issue they want and your feelings of annoyance are not going to change that in the least. Your expectation that a company would ever imply their own security is not 100% is simply NOT realistic. Annoyance and disappointment are sure to follow if you seriously think that would ever happen.

If you get one of those emails and suspect it may be VALID I would suggest opening a ticket with Support and asking them if any current or recent open tickets for your account (if you can log in, they are obviously NOT valid). If they are obvious phishing emails, all you can do is ignore them….However, you may want to consider changing your GW2 associated email to either a PROXY address or a completely different email account (or BOTH).
When did you turn it on? (maybe it take some time?)
I just tested this (both in-game and here) and it required my authenticator at both logins (I did NOT check REMEMBER THIS NETWORK). My current log in is NOT listed as an Authorized network.
Note that in neither case did I receive any emails so it’s an either / or situation in terms of Authenticator OR Email confirmation….not both.
tbh that kind of things should be hot fixed instantly , this only show how badly is this game disegned
So…just how hard is it to remove the costume until they fix it? This is 100% a cosmetic issue that the player can get around by swallowing a bit of vanity….Yes, I get it effects gameplay in a rather large way, but it CAN be gotten around with a very simple user alteration until it is corrected.
(Yes, it needs to be fixed, but “instantly” is not a reasonable request for ANYTHING but a fully game breaking bug that does NOT have a workaround…this issue DOES have one).
Sure I have the choice between flying to California and riding my bike to California…no one is FORCING me to spend my money on airfare afterall, but I’m pretty sure I know which option I’d choose.
But the real issue is do you NEED to go to California (or do you just WANT to go)?
You blame the METHOD when the real issue is the REASON.
With this patch recipes for satchels/boxes of celestial armor got introduced. Should be cheaper to get one of those than 6 individual recipes.
Hmmm….wonder if this will bring down the individual TP prices for the recipes even more? 4
HOLY DIVING BELL, BATMAN! Those prices have absolutely TANKED since the announcement. The Recipes I need for my Ele totalled nearly 25g a month ago (and I don’t even need ALL of them)….I can buy them directly for about 75s now….

…..
If you want to just roll your face along your keys while not really learning a thing because you don’t need to dodge/evade or use active defenses, then play a warrior. …..
The above statement is totally unnecessary and a gross exaggeration of the class in general. Up to that point, your post was intelligent and factual….then you posted that line of total FUD and I quit reading….good job.
Of course, a warrior is easier to play, but that does not mean that every warrior out there plays “lazy”, never dodges nor uses any defensive skills. Just because a Warrior can possibly survive an encounter like that does not mean every Warrior plays that way.
BTW, I play both classes (in fact, I play ALL of them) and we are all overjoyed that you “love your Ele”, but players of other classes would appreciate it if you didn’t translate that “love” into disparaging posts that border on lies and insults.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
XP boost is ONLY for KILLs…..you do not get an increase from other XP sources.
You can call it a “pawn shop” if you like, but you are advertising to be a loan shark and yet have no way to “enforce” payment of the “loan”.
It is possible that Anet would look at the ’interest" as something that violates the EULA against gold selling.
While I’m not sure ANet would have an issue with the general premise of the venture, the potential Support tickets that could get generated when someone involved inevitably tries to pull a fast one may be a major problem they don’t want to deal with….even telling someone, “not our problem”, takes resources.
I have literally met lvl 80s with <4% Map Completion…
THAT is a pathetic (and unfortunately believable) statistic…..
I ran QD Train numerous times (mostly to get Daily Events quickly) and have to say the experience was enjoyable for about the first couple of loops…..then I got over it….every time. If the point of playing this game is making gold…..isn’t that the definition of a JOB in real life and are you still “playing” a game?
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Fanboys call every complaint QQ don’t they?
It doesn’t matter now anyway. I got other farms I do and don’t plan on posting them on these forums. Anet has proven they want to limit the amount of gold in the game. Fine. Inflation sucks but so does being broke.
Yes, because the point of this game is to farm gold…..good luck to you.
I think if every high level player that ran QD Champ Train goes to Orr, Anet’s goals will have been met. Note they did NOT nerf Champ Train rewards any farther, just removed all Champs from Starter Zones. It is a location specific change, not an activity/reward change.
Claiming that PvE is being “attacked” by the Devs is just another massive exaggeration that this forum is famous for….
I get that Orr is a lvl 80 zone, but isn’t the whole point of down-leveling in this game to encourage max levels players to play in all the zones, and not just lvl 80 zones?
No doubt, but do you seriously consider what transpires around a Champ Train Zerg as “playing” the game? I think the answer to that question is fully answered by what Anet just did with this patch.
The OP specified Orr….I guess I should have stated that if all those that WANT to farm Champs move to NON-starter Areas, their goals would be met. Orr is just one of the options and speculating on what area will be “attacked” next is simply an over-reaction.

There are few ways to show ArenaNet that we are not happy what they have done.
1. We are not spending any money to this game anymore.
2. We are vote with our legs and leave this game
3. We will start to inform all the potetial gamers that GW2 is not worth game to play. When Arenanet will see the result, it is too late for them. It is harder get back those players who have left than those players who never played. But when gaming house is getting bad reputation it will not get any other customers tho. It is hard to fix the harm what one unhappy customer can do, than 1000 satisfied customers can afford. When there is 1000 unhappy customers, it is usually catastrophy to any company.
So what Arenanet can do?
1. They can apologize the bad situation what they have done.
2. They can reward all it’s customers to make all events in everywhere more profitable (loot, droppings, materials, what ever) for everybody, for those who are unhappy and for those who are happy.
3. Make all events give more xp and karma.
4. Change all Champions in every area to Veterans (including, dungeons/instances, wvw and pve)
5. World Bosses don’t reward any chest anymore, they are giving only normal loot as all events and foes
If this isn’t a troll post……never mind…..(shakes head and wanders away from thread).
If you are getting Bronze Chest, the event is being done incorrectly.
Moral of the story is that this problem is NOT solved by one big ZERG.
You got rid of your tickets and now want to complain that you don’t have any tickets?
Yes, Anet is fully to blame for this situation (and how can they “jack up” the prices when the tickets are using a currency just introduced?) If you want to complain about that, ok….but the price is completely NEW not HIGHER than last year.
Fixing it would be easy and doesn’t require anyone to write an essay.
Add Loot. Done.
The loot is there. You just need to do the event correctly to EARN it.
Give it a bit of time and those that want to do the event correctly will figure it out and teach others that are willing how to do it properly. Those that just want, “loot added” will go elsewhere.
I do agree that some sort of better explanation of how to do the event properly is needed for those that want to simply ZERG the bosses in succession and then complain that they got horrible rewards.

Where are these “lots of people”?
I just did a memory check of GW2.EXE on my system and see NO indication of a memory leak….you are making an invalid assumption that this is an Anet programming bug of some sort.
You need to make 100% sure your email and GW2 account are secure before you request a restoration. You only get ONE rollback, so if the hacker is still able to get in to your account (via changing the password again), you will loose all of your rolled back stuff and be SOL.
In the case where your email account has been compromised, your GW2 “stuff” should be least of your worries as someone else having access to your email can be a MUCH larger RL (and potentially financial) issue.
So you are upset they gave you the opportunity to earn the AP again?
Those Evil Bastages!!!
I just really hate how buggy all the skills get when you’re not living right next to the data server
Actually ALL movement skills are buggy like this, but these require rather precise timing in some areas or you end up dead. All 3 of them have some rather severe lag sensitivity that can be quite frustrating for some.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
The level drop on the map from 80 to 15 was definitely done so as to not throw our new players from China into the “deep end of the pool” just a few days after the game opened to all on 5/15.
What “deep end”? Up-scaling or down-scaling would add 0 complexity for them? Aren’t they up-scaled to 80 in WvW and the Queens Pavillion anyway?
Seems like a pointless change made because you I don’t believe your player base is capable of handling simple concepts.
Queens Pavilion never scaled players to 80 (dunno about the Gauntlet).
Players learning “teamwork” and how to actually PLAY GW2 from the Zerg in Queensdale were taught everything wrong and are in for a rude wakening when NOT in a ZERG…….If anything the existence of the Zerg was highly detrimental to new players (and in more ways that just BAD HABIT training….no pun intended).
If you WANT to Champ train, there are other zones in the game that have the capability to run one…..some already do. Go run them.
I just have to shake my head at anyone that used QD Champ train as a main way to level a new character (and a borderline exploit in my opinion).
One point that everyone complaining about this change (and WHY Anet did it) is being ignored. Anet did not target Queensdale, but removed Champs from ALL starter zones. That makes it pretty obvious to me this s not a “Dont’ farm Champs” move, but a “You will NOT farm Champs in starter zones”, one.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I’m confused as to why Champs in other zones can’t be farmed if that is what some players WANT to do? I know for a fact that while clearing certain zones, Champs pop up all the time….there has to be pattern that can be figured out and rotated.
I think this recent change was much less about Anet NOT wanting anyone to farm Champs as it was removing that “experience” from starter zones. Nobody needs to learn to play GW2 via Zerg and frankly, some of the encounters I have witnessed with obviously unknowing new players were simply applauding. It would be much less of a problem if some players had even a bit of manners or consideration for others, but it doesn’t take long for the refuse to float to the top of the bowl and be smelt.
Oh yes…. thank you SOOOOOOOO much. The Queens Pavilion and WvW aren’t giant zerg fest at all. Oh how amazing and innovative you are. Praise be to you…
Thank you for taking out champ farms too. No one in the entire game wanted to do them ever. And clearly every person who ever participated in the champ train was a kitten, racist, QQ, zombie that doesn’t even like this game.
Sarcasm aside, I do applaud them for TRYING something different despite the above attitude of QQ. I do agree the rewards are a bit lacking and am afraid that once most everyone gets the AP available in the Pavilion will fail miserably because of that. EDIT: If what is stated above (about better rewards) is true, I could be wrong and some decent organized groups going for GOLD might be worth pursuing.
BTW, they took the champ farms out of the starter areas (a VERY good idea, IMO). If you want to Champ farm there are dozens of other zones available for this. It can’t be hard to figure out a decent rotation for nearly every zone in the game if you are willing to do more than WP > hit #1 > WP > wait…..wait…. > hit # 1 > repeat.

Didn’t consider that but if you FORWARD (or link) your new email from the old one, a hacker with access to you old email can easily obtain the new address from those settings.
I suggest setting up a UNIQUE PROXY email address (even from a new account) as your GW2 associated email and use it nowhere else. This should prevent any future hacker from being able to easily reset your password with Support NOR being able to easily have your actual GW2 account log in (as it is now different from the email account login).
Also enable any available 2-step authentication with the new email account. I know that Outlook.com allows you to do this without a smartphone via your Microsoft login (but it is a bit of a PitA).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Patch notes indicate there should now be 12 every day…..I hope so (likely can’t tell until they change anyway).
EDIT: They added them to the existing Daily so I was able to get 2 more AP before Server reset….This looks to have solved all complaints (at least from PvE players).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
So now all the level 80s will either move to high level zones or stand around the mystic toilet waiting for their queues to pop. Leaving Queensdale to become dead, just like all the other starting zones.
What a lovely impression this will make on any new players.
You seriously think being Gank-Yelled at by 50 cyber-bullies for engaging a Champ out of rotation was a GOOD impression?
BTW, I’ve never been in a dead starter zone since the MS release, so I’m not sure what game you are talking about. I’ve been helping my son clear the starter zones and all of them have ample players in them (even before the MS system, my server had decent populations in all of them as well). If anything, they may be a bit over crowded and some of the Renown Hearts can take a bit too long to complete while you have to wait on items / enemies to respawn due to competition from other players.
There are tons of other zones that have Champs in them that can be “trained” if anyone takes the initiative to start one. Champ slaying is much more enjoyable with 5-10 other players anyway.
You need to understand this issue can’t really be fixed by ANet (other than redesigning the skills in some manner to make them less sensitive to lag). It is caused by latency across the internet that ANet has very little control over. ALL of the movement skills are effected by it, but long distance jumping skills that require a precise landing area are going to be VERY problematic.
While zone population may be a factor, your actual latency to and from the server you are connecting to is likely the real issue (which was why guesting to other servers could make the situation better). I’d say 80% of the player I recall having a horrific time last year were Pacific / Asiatic players….those that would have the highest latency to the NA or EU based servers.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
…… I remember a few years ago when Arenanet insisted that Guild Wars 2 would be a game with no grind…..
You remember wrong. It was stated that the game would not have REQUIRED grind. No MMO can exist without some sort of progression that requires time and effort at the end game. Still, you don’t HAVE to perform the grind to obtain sufficient equipment to actually PLAY the game.
Some of the OPs statements are not untrue, but the repeated misquote of this one item (NO GRIND) is stated FAR too many times in FAR too many posts as rallying cry of POed players and it is factually incorrect.
I think it’s for a new title and the AP again….not sure, not into the Gauntlet (but they did mention a new title for beating her in the patch notes).
sigh Nothing is ever good enough for some…..
