Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
The answer depends on the tuning frequency of your tin foil hat multiplied by the gullibility factor of the posters above and below you…..it’s a simple equation but requires multi-variable integral substitution and dimensional analysis to fully appreciate the illogical nature of being completely false and incorrect for the reasons that have been previously stated.
….and the BEAT goes on….
(there’s a Brony Joke in here somewhere)
Devs were obviously trying to pump gold into the economy with the Pavilion and Scarlet Invasions last year but I don’t think we are currently in the same place now, so I’d be surprised if the rewards are as large this time around.
It will be interesting to see if any new content comes with this one or if it is just a total rehash of old content. Obviously the Council Seat voting is being replaced with “Rebuild Lion’s Arch” campaign (which COULD be used to soak up the material excess from the Pavilion).
I suggest you DON’T get hung up on doing every Monthly or Living Story one. You can waste a LOT of effort working on some specific last tier that nets you very little additional AP. Certainly get the metas (that give decent AP and rewards), but don’t “grind” content you don’t enjoy just get a few more AP.
You can get plenty of AP by just playing the game and keeping an eye on what you are close to getting and possibly putting a bit of effort in finishing up those.
DO the Dailies every day (if possible) and do a few extra if they are not out of your comfort zone or on your way to something else. Same with the Monthlies.
There is nothing wrong with that current setup a few upgrades wouldn’t get to a better place:
Video card is fine (next upgrade if desired).
You should note that GW2 does not run as well on AMD processors as Intel based ones, so if you are looking for a whole new rig to run GW2 go with an Intel i5 (GW2 does not NEED an i7).

Be a kittenhead
That is worthy of T-shirt and image….
In WoW when you wanted a certain piece of gear was it for the looks or because you NEEDED the stats? There is a HUGE difference in wanting to look good (a choice) and needing the equipment to continue forward in the game (a block).
Nowhere in GW2 does it require RL money to play the game. As mentioned above, you always have the option of buying Gems with Gold to obtain any item you desire.
Yes….the town clothes and tonics are now quite annoying in that respect. Never went to the BL Armor guy after the first character because of this.
Anet HAS to make money on Gem sales or the Servers shut down.
I’m all for getting it from players that want to play dress up and completionist collector rather than me. (I have bought a few skin sets and buy Gems monthly, so I’ve supported the game also).

While the requirement is no longer unique, it was when they were introduced (that’s what I mean’t to imply by my comment).
I sat out the game during the LA events, so I was unaware that the Recipes dropped then (I might have participated if I knew that).
I spend a few hours a month with my Chef using up unused cooking components to something useful mostly to clean up my bank. My main issue is less about the many intermediate components than about the quantities that are created by certain component recipes.
“What? I wanted 10 Herbed Meat Stock, not 30…..DOH!”
(Yes…I know it states each crafting makes 3, but those tiny details are beneath my notice (that’s my standard story when screwing something up and I’m sticking to it)).
I wouldn’t complain if we had this, but then there should be storage for each and every crafting components for all the other crafts as well (only fair). While I haven’t looked into it, I doubt cooking has more component items, they just don’t have a repetitive tier based organization that makes them seem like a lot more than they actually are.

I hope Anet is aware about it and doing something about it, this is absurd, ridiculous. This game is becoming a mafia wars, some ppl control the champs in queensdale, others the temples, soon ppl charge extra fee for you be able to do the events?
Well let’s not over-exaggerate the situation by decrying how HORRIBLE the situation is when what is being done is quite useful to the majority of players. Being able to obtain Obsidian Shards and/or Exotic karma items whenever you want is a nice change from having to search down an Open Temple and guest to the correct Server (and hope you get in on time that was previously the norm.
Not being able to earn the new Traits in a timely fashion is inconvenient and Anet needs to find a solution, but there are other options to obtain the Traits.
Nobody can stop anyone from attacking any Champ in the game…..there is NO control and you CAN close the chat window. Not saying your actions might not upset some people (and yes…that can be entertaining in it’s own right), but using the word CONTROL is in NO way valid. If you are intentionally disrupting the “train”, you do run the risk of Anet deciding you should be punished for griefing when it gets reported.
I have no idea what you are talking about people “charging an extra fee”….. Anyone trying to extort money from another player needs to be reported and I feel confident that Anet will take action (as long as a screenshot of the conversation is attached).
As mentioned above, if you can get enough players to simply run about in the defense areas, the event WILL fail due to the sheer number of enemies that will spawn.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Change your associate email address to either a different email account or a proxy email address (or both). ONLY use that email (and/or proxy address) for GW2.
You should also be using unique passwords you have never used (or will use elsewhere) for all websites you access.
Sorry, waiting 24/7 isn’t the answer.
What’s with this temple defense, is it some group that’s trying to control temple events?
No….they are maintaining control of the Temples so they are OPEN to players wanting Karma items. I don’t think Anet anticipated the effort players would go to in order to maintain 24/7 Temple control. The response should be altering the Event chain (so the Attaching force eventually becomes simply overwhelming as to force a failure) or changing the Trait requirements to something else (than killing Bosses that now almost NEVER spawn).
Be careful trading with other players. Since there’s no secure player to player trade interface to prevent scamming, you have to use the mail system where players can scam you.
NO…..do NOT use the email system to trade…..EVAR!
(WHY would you?)
How about a category field for each friend?
(and obviously a sort / display filter to use it).
Because the internet certainly needs more endless yet annoying entertainment….
….that is ILLOGICAL and completely false for reasons I’ve already explained.
(meh…..might be wearing a bit thin).
In addition you can get the fine salvage kits with karma from the T3 cultural weapon trader in Black Citadel (near the front of the trading post), meaning you only need to buy the 2 other salvage kits.
Nice tip….thanks!
Rabid is likely the best Condition Damage set out there (especially if want some added Defense). It combines pretty well with other sets (Knights, Settler, Apothecary, etc.) to get a desired mix of stats while giving a decent Condition Boost. If you gear toward a lot of Crit triggering traits, a mix of Rabid / Ravaging is a good selection (my choice for my Engineer in Condition mode).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Legendary weapon stats are the same as Ascended weapon stats but there is ONE major difference (that was added to Legendary weapons just prior to the Ascended release).
When you are out of combat, you can select WHAT Stat Set you want the Legendary Weapon to have. If I’m not mistaken, this includes even very rare and difficult to obtain Stat Sets (like Settlers or Apothecary). If you are a Zerker only player, this is not that big a deal, but if you experiment with builds a bunch and/or change gear a good bit for different play modes, that feature is quite powerful.
So depending on whether you change your character stats sets a lot (or at all), then there could be an actual game-play reason to own a Legendary Weapon. Otherwise, it’s all about the Bling.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I agree that they need to attempt to develop some method to return to your character to the exact same location after a DC within some reasonable period of time. Keep in mind that doing this with an 8 player instance has to be easier (per the GW1 feature that did this quite well), than with a +100 player zone.
In Anet’s defense, it could be that they HAVE attempted do develop this “feature” and have so far been unable to technically (or even reliably) make it work. It is highly unlikely they would mention failing to provide a wanted feature to the public.
As I said. The new trait system is horribad.
For new characters, maybe….but really it’s just different and requires some effort to now develop your character.
It’s an awesome change for existing level 80s.
PLEASE let us sell these on TP (or at least vendor them for a few silver….). I kept a few stacks and have no desire to enter those events.
I’m 51…..my wife says I’m too old for video games (and I tell her to get offa my lawn!).
I have to say, I have never looked at another player and asked their AP nor have ever been asked for mine. I think this is a figment of some players imagination (or issue with self-worth, possibly?).
There isn’t anything in this game that actually requires skill. So what’s the issue?
Yeah….that’s a bit of an exaggeration (and sideways bragging). At the very least skillful use of knowledge IS required in many places and it’s quite obvious that some players are better than others when it comes to certain areas of content. Again, it’s mostly knowing HOW to approach specific content rather than being highly skillful at executing the required steps to success (tho that does help and the best players are good at both).
I guess what I’m saying that Tactical Knowledge applied skillfully is quite obvious when observing other players.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I’m voting that they will be accepting donations of crafting materials (wood, ore, etc.) to do the rebuild. Hopefully it will be T1 materials (that are completely lacking any reason to exist beyond getting past the T1 crafting requirements).
Just my speculation.
Finally I get to finish working on beating Liadri! I have two stacks of gauntlet tickets and a desire to kill her -_- (serious face time)
On that note….PLEASE let me sell my tickets…..I have tons and have no desire to do any of those battles….at least let me vendor them!
Can I ask for anyone to explain to me what the return of the Festival of 4 Winds and the Crown Pavilion have to do with rebuilding Lions Arch? EDIT: Never mind I see. I’m guessing this will be a “donation” type drive that will replace the LA council seat voting that took place during the last Festival. I don’t think this event will do any actual change / rebuild to Lions Arch at all (just “prepare” for it).

Awesome….might be able to afford Celestial gear for my Ele…..WOOT!
There is nothing wrong with annual content returning….the assumption that it is fully due to lazy development (not discounting that it IS EASY for the devs), is quite pessimistic (but that’s par for the course on this forum).
This content had quite a few GOOD things associated with it:
On a side note, I would imagine this news will make the existing Celestial recipes on the TP plummet in price (but why rush to buy them when you could wait a week or so and get them for some relatively easy effort….or much cheaper when the supply increases).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Most likely scenarios include defective (or going bad) or inadequate power supply or a defective memory stick. 95% of system reset issues are one of these 2 things.
There is an off chance it could be video driver issue (but that would likely cause a BSoD with an error rather than a full reset).
VERY slim chance it could be a video card seating issue.
This needs to be in the bug forum (as it’s an in-game graphics issue, not a technical one).
Rest assured this has been reported multiple times, however.
My multiple Charr characters are amused by the talking meat……
And secure your email (that was likely compromised to allow the hack) before requesting a rollback (or better yet change the associate email address).
I’d submit a ticket to protest, but I’m not sure how far that will get you.
Some of the bans are quite questionable, but Support has the final word (no pun intended) about name issues.
sure isnt my fault thats for sure.
Sorry, but those are famous last words of a player that gets hacked again (immediately after having a rollback). I am not pointing the finger at you, I’m simply stating that you need to try and determine WHAT went wrong in the security to allow your account to be compromised and it is HIGHLY unlikely that the compromise was from Anet’s end (or there would be litterally THOUSANDS of hack threads flooding this forum).
Make sure you check with support and ask them for ANY information on tickets they may have opened concerning your account so you can be 100% sure they did not perform a password change in the past. Make sure you do this AND change your email password AND turn on the mobile Authenticator yourself BEFORE requesting an account rollback.
If there were tickets you did not open then your email IS compromised. Note that I could not find any evidence of my email account being compromised and the email provider did not indicate there was a compromise, but there was certainly several tickets opened via my (old) email account with Anet. Either the hackers were good enough to spoof my email address to fool Anet (very unlikely) or they compromised it and my email provider (starts with a Y and ends with OO) was less than truthful with me or just simply clueless or incompetent. It’s free email….how far SHOULD you trust any of them?
YOU MUST BE 100% SURE YOUR ACCOUNT IS SECURE BEFORE REQUESTING A ROLLBACK AS YOU ONLY GET ONE.

The PvE world is not duel free right now.
There are multiple skillpoints where you duel a npc.
That is just an idiotic statement.
By your logic you ARE dueling every time you fight a human foe, so your problem is solved! Thanks for stopping by!
Dueling requires consent from both sides. The NPC challenges the player and the player click the accept to fight.
A human foe wants to kill you, but you just want to get to a skillpoint. So the human foe kills you. That is not a duel, that is ganking.
That is the difference between my example and your example.
You misunderstood my post (wording issue, my bad). I meant ANY RED FOE in the game is now a “duel”, by that logic. How it’s started is not an issue as the NPCs you are talking about have no other purpose in the game but to fight the player. Your “reason” it is like a duel is a complete illusion (that apparently works on some players).
My point was, fighting a pre-programmed NPC that is DESIGNED to fight players (no matter HOW the combat is initiated) is in NO way close to a player vs player duel (in how it would be initiated or in the skill required to perform the combat). The comparison is again, for lack of a better word, idiotic.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Making condition damage personal would already be a big step in the right direction. As long kitten people have to compete for one burning debuff nothing else really matters, the design is just stupid.
The design limitations are there because each zone instance only has so much computing power available. While an instanced Dungeon may be able to support a more robust condition damage system, having the system work differently in a Dungeon from a zone would be confusing and inconsistent. It would result in NEW player complaints and just more Dev headaches.
Certainly trying to revamp the entire system to reduce the computing resources needed for a zone to keep up with them would be welcome, but that would likely require a MAJOR change to the combat system that likely would introduce OTHER imbalance issues the Devs are aware of and simply do not want to unleash (or they believe there would be an issue and simply don’t have the resources to pursue the possilbity).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Just to add, you have to buy both the Celestial Exotic Inscription / Insignia Recipe (just like other ones you buy from the crafting trainer) AND the Recipe to craft each item (this was TOTALLY new to the crafting system when introduced and is unique to Celestial stat items). The requirement for a time gate on the rare materials was also a first (and still complained about to this day).
These recipes could only be obtained during the Bazaar of the Four Winds event (about a year ago) and have thus become rather rare and pricey (especially the Light Armor ones…..since Eles usually benefit the most from Celestial stats). I’ve been hoping they bring the Bazaar back rather than spend a small fortune to outfit my Ele (not quite 80 yet).

It would be awesome if ANet would create a courtesy pop-up box for people making mistakes of this caliber.
……
There IS a popup when salvaging ANYTHING RARE or higher…..the fact that people click past warnings without thought is NOT something Anet can (or, IMO, should) fix.
More because pve players said it would “ruin” the economy with a too high ammount of ecto’s, thats why.
I seriously doubt PvE players would be against another source of Ectos & Dark Matter on the cheap (PvE player DO get Badges from Achievement chests). Your implication that PvE players have anything to do with this decision is VERY misdirected…..
You are confusing your angst against the PvE community with a policy Anet put in place a very shortly after release that was aimed at not making it easy or highly profitable to convert in-game currencies (karma, badges of honor, etc.) to gold.
Take it up with Anet.
Not that I’m aware of. You also cannot gift upgrade items.
Why is this not announced here anywhere? They’re removing one of my favorite sets before I’ve had a chance to get them all….
Because posts like this generate more interest (and potential sales) if they are “outrage” posts from players than an announcement (that will likely be put out in the next few days).
Either of you feel free to mail me and I’ll be happy to assist or answer questions. I’m NA on Yak’s Bend (not that it matters much anymore). On most evenings a (way too much) on weekends.
…other than misusing the word “illogical”, in a rather ironic way (thus creating endless yet annoying entertainment…..thus my theory he just might be trolling this along in a masterful way).
Any area that drops bags in the desired material range (example above for Linen range). Flame Legion in Fireheart Rise, Risen in Straits of Devastation (pretty much any non-animal enemy in a 60 -75 zone). You can get silk from 65-80 zones.
This wiki page pretty much gives you everything you need to know:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Container
The other option is to have a character that is the desired material range level open your champ bags (materials will still come out at the champ bag level , but items will generate at the opener level and can then be salvaged for the desired mats). Obviously, obtaining the champ bags with a character of the desired level is better (both mats and items out of the bags will be the level you want).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
They should allow stacking but just like regular items have a stack limit. In this case the limit would be 25.
I present the MYSTIC SALVAGE KIT as a rebuttal….. (250 charges)
Even if they allowed only 25 max on the lower kits, it would be nice to be able to combine lesser stacks together (they should have done this when they made them Account Bound).
Same goes for gathering tool stacks.
So if I spend 100g from my account wallet I only get something for one character? Hmmm………
EXactly…..
If 2 players want to do a trade with each other, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are or aren’t trying to scam each other. There are 2 possibilities.
1. Both of them want to scam the other.
2. One of them wants to scam the other.
3. Neither of them are trying to scam each other. They just want to do a simple trade.Either way, they don’t know the intention of the other player.
…….
Ok….one last time (for the difficult to understand).
1) & 2) can’t happen with the TP.
3) is not necessary with the TP.
Their intentions are meaningless on the TP (meaning nobody has to worry about them).
AGAIN, this discussion is pointless.
sounds like you DO have 7 days….
Sound like your ISP (or someone in the network path) may be throttling your bandwidth.
Take a screenshot of the comments and do a report on her and attach the image. They are basically going AFK (there HAS to be a report for that) AFTER attempting to extort gold from you.
