Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
Keep in mind a few things:
Items purchased from NPCs are NOT salvageable (at this time) and thus the any upgrades you place on them are only obtainable via very expensive gem store items (to the point that new upgrades are less expensive). Know going in that you may NOT be able to get that upgrade back and that the item has no way to be recycled right now.
I urge you to consider the stat differences between Exotic and Ascended before pursing the later. Ascended equipment requires quite a bit of expense and effort and while weapons do pose a stat increase that most players agree is worth the effort, Ascended armor in general does not. It can be a worthy end game goal, but outside of high levels Fractals (where Agony Resistance is needed and can only be obtained via Ascended gear), it is NOT needed to play any end game content.
Keep in mind that if you discovered that area with another character it will NOT count again (so it can trigger on a 2nd character and not be the area you need to find for the 175th area).
So yes it is a shortage in my own playstyle.

Kind of OT, but keep in mind the inherent risks with keeping valuables in a Guild Bank.
If you DO ever get hacked and wiped, Anet will restore your account the first time (again, only ONCE) but they will NEVER restore anything associated with any Guild.
Also, Guild banks do not transfer with you when changing home worlds.
Don’t get me wrong, I use one and keep most of my gold there (probably a bad choice), but I wanted to share the “downside” with you.
You need full ascended in order to be competitive in this game. It is a horrible, expensive grind. Just wait until you see legendary armor!
Calling bull-kitten on this. Prove it or be wrong.
Or I’m good and now I’ll be even better with top gear. I wouldn’t want non optimized players anywhere near my team because they are unwilling to put in the effort for their own and the team’s benefit.
Oh, I see…..never mind (there’s one in every crowd).

Your event log, but I’m pretty sure it is just going to say GW2.EXE caused an error (very likley a texture error). Try repairing your game with the -REPAIR command here http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
Frankly, no web based email is very safe just because it CAN be entered from nearly every electronic device on the planet.
I think we are missing a vital bit of information in this story (but I’m the overly suspicious type). Why would the OP NOT post the actual name in question? (from the description: Lupus)
Way overkill and over-cumbersome for regular use. Your credentials ARE your to access the account. If they really wanted to stop the latest (from my view) largest compromise vector they should start verifying users that ask for password changes rather than just change them with 4 word email from the users email address. I get that a compromised email account is NOT Anet’s security problem, but I would hope that being complicit in a hack (be an integral PART of the account compromise process) would rub Anet the wrong way and make them reconsider their current policy of changing passwords and enabling mobile authenticators via a simple email request.
Just my 2 cents.
EDIT: If by vulnerable DBs you mean another DB using the same 20 character password then the fault lies with the other DB security and you for using the same password. If you are implying ANet’s DB, you are flat out wrong. If the Anet DB were compromised there would be tens of thousands of hacked accounts, not a couple of dozen. My guess is your email was compromised and you either do not realize it yet (i.e. it’s STILL compromised and the hacker is lurking in there waiting for some info to compromise something of actual RL value) or are just trying to blame someone else. Per the above, I DO think Anet could do something to halt the GW2 account accesses due to compromised email accounts, but they honestly are not obliged to do so (and are certainly not at fault).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
The party that was vulnerable NEVER had access to any user information nor was any user information exchanged with them (per Anet’s Dev comments). If you choose not to believe that statement, then change your password. The 3rd party obviously changed their certificates and patched (as the new cert is what “broke” Mac’s accessing the BLTP) so that hole (that never used player credentials) has been fixed.
Anet’s log in servers are MS software based, so they were never vulnerable. Not an issue in terms of this bug.
Certainly devices other than servers CAN be using bugged code, but short of network equipment (that should NEVER be open to remote access via the internet), very little would be gained by exploiting a user device.

ascended gear and ascended level swappable stats on legendaries are hardly mere “vanity” things.
I’d say he misused the word “vanity”, but they are not actually needed to play 98% of the game content. In TRUE GRINDY games, you have no hope of advancing to ANY higher level content without the grind items (and then you have to start all over to reach the NEXT tier…
So…..turning down the in-game music and running your own media player isn’t something you have considered?
Most online games are going to NOT be modifiable for many reasons.
Lol – I’ve seen real players play like you described!
I was thinking the same thing.
I know I won’t respond to someone if they ask me for gold/mats…..earn you own. I’ll help you fight, do events, JPs and clear maps, but I’m not even wasting my time talking to a beggar.
There are no “limited slots” any longer as all maps are basically overflows. If the bots take up so many slots that a zone becomes full, the server starts another instance of the map and the new players load into it. No player will never not be able to play because of too many bots.

…..
I’d be more inclined to agree with you if the criticisms being offered by the haters weren’textremelysomewhat accurate.
Changed it so I could agree with it in some respect. Exaggerating just makes the entire statement laughable rather than thought provoking.

all my computer parts are new like two months old new, i don’t see how you can honestly say it’s my hardware when this is the only game that it dose it on and only after the major update changes here in April. the point is i can wold of tanks max graphics STO and many other games until my eyes pop out and ears bleed and nothing happens to my computer, but when i log into GW2 i am on for maybe 15 mins and computer shuts down, and my GPU only get around 70C before it shuts down, that’s not over heating.
That sounds like the Power Supply shutdown or maybe a bad memory issue. Different programs can cause different voltage loads and/or memory locations to be exersized and brand new hardware would be more suspect as defective than something that’s been running for years (tho power supplies and memory CAN go defective).
Your email is likely hacked….change your email PW NOW!
First you need to make SURE you account and email are secure and then check your account to see if anything has been taken, etc. (to see if you need an account rollback).
Most email providers will allow you to set up proxy email addresses that you can then use to associate your GW2 account with (or set up a completely separate email address for JUST GW2 account). Also, NEVER EVER use a password you have ever used at another website for any other sites. This is likely how your email account was compromised to begin with.
There are plenty of threads around here about how to secure your account better.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
There is no issue with direct player accounts (none of their servers ever used OpenSSL code at all). This was confirmed by ANet Devs (there is a thread around here some where).
There WAS some sort of issue with MACs not liking the new certificates issued by 3rd party site that is used to connect the Black Lion Trading post in-game, but no credentials are exchanged in those transactions (and the certificate change was part of the fix by that 3rd party site). As far as I know the Mac issue not being able to access the BLTP has been fixed.
The odds that they are going to reset something that will reset itself are slim to none.
By your own admission, the reason you need this done is completely your fault. Just so happens they are too busy to give you a polite NO email within your desired time frame.
Note that you must unequip the items and have them in NON-safe storage on the character that talks to the BL weapon specialist or the option to swap the tool will not trigger.
Your browser can remember your password and log in. Has nothing to do with Anet site security (as far as it knows, your browser IS sending the credentials again when you access the page). This is a browser setting on your computer (and you can change it to NOT remember passwords at certain sites if you desire…..how to do that depends on the browser being used). Note that another computer (or even user logged into your computer) will NOT get access to MY ACCOUNT on this site without typing in your credentials (at least once).
Are you 100% sure your associate email account has not been compromised. Email account hackers are usually very adept at keeping the actual account user from knowing the account is being monitored and used to try and hack other sites.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
The only items an account restoration cannot recover are items/gold you obtained AFTER the rollback to date (obviously) and any items / gold taken from a Guild Bank (which Anet does not restore).
Regaining control of your account is NOT a restoration / rollback. You have to ask Support to perform a rollback after you regain control and they will only perform this action ONCE per account.
You also need to discuss the date your account was compromised and the date they are able to rollback to as there may be a gap (and those will be items and progress you “loose”). Support has reportedly also made mistakes in the past and rolled back accounts to very old dates when a newer one was available (note this was reported by the players in these forums, not confirmed from Support), so you SHOULD communicate with Support on the details of the rollback date available and when they have records of your account being compromised.
You should also make 100% sure your account (and your associated email account) is secured before requesting rollback (or you will likely just waste your ONLY rollback and be right back with naked toons and empty storage).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
It wasn’t a very secure password if the ‘hacker’ got into Account Management to enable a Mobile Authenticator. Food for thought.
IF the hacker gets into the associated email account (a bigger security problem than just your GW2 account), they can request a password reset AND that mobile authentication be turned on (and set it up to THEIR phone). This would take a 2 sentence email coming from the email account and Support would perform the actions no questions asked.
Just saying….(it happened to me…not the mobile authentication part, but the password reset).
Some it’s karma, other it’s dungeon pieces, but both are not salvageable. I feel outraged, can i send ticket about it?
You do know the PATCH did not change what you are complaining about. You could NEVER remove those runes (via salvaging) pre-patch and you not knowing that is really not Anet’s fault.
NOW the fact that you can no longer transmute the runes onto another armor set post patch is 100% due to the patch and you can be outraged about that all you want (but I’m not sure being a nasty customer is the way to go here, but go for it if it makes you feel better).
Submitting a ticket with Support is likely a waste of time as the patch is working as intended (not bugged in this area) and they can’t do anything about your situation in any event.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
If your email provider is Gmail or Yahoo mail or one of the other big ones, I would trust them:
…….
So yes, I feel they can be trusted.
And yet you feel that Anet is somehow hemorrhaging log in info and covering it up? May I draw conclusions from THAT?
Now that it’s mentioned, I do recall a blurb in the patch notes about that.
Don’t take this the wrong way OP, but how is this very minor visual change in any way effecting your game? As mentioned, the change allows all sized characters to play more effectively at all zoom levels.
The problem is that there is nothing broken to be “fixed”, they just removed that feature.
I think characterizing the issue in those terms is not exactly valid. I think it is more than reasonable for players to request some type of this removed “feature” be available to us via some solution (rather than a very expensive GEM item). At the very least, I would like to hear some comment from ANet on the issue (and as far as I am aware, they have made no comment on the situation or if they plan to do anything about it).
You do realize those 2 shots are at a different camera angle…right? As I recall, if I lower the camera lower, I can zoom in closer.
I have not noticed any change to the camera since the patch (but I must admit the change you are claiming would not be something I would consider an issue or likely even notice).

No properly deigned and properly functioning video card would ever be able to “overheat” no matter what software was being run on it. The design would allow for it to work at 100% capacity indefinitely (in theory). That is not to say that all cards are “designed” to be able to do this, but if it is overheating due to software making it work harder, then it’s a design flaw.
Without running your own email server and looking at the logs yourself, how can you be sure of that? How far do you REALLY trust your email provider to tell you if someone logged into your account?
Just as an added suggestion, change your linked email account.

Secure your email as this is the most likely way you were hacked. Good Luck.
There is a thread suggesting a way to downgrade mats in the forge, seems like a related concept, and one that I like.
I agree that would be a viable solution but they have to be careful about the quantities as letting me turning 10 Silk into 100 Linen would have significant economic consequences…..
I open all my champ boxes on a little 25 toon …..
That’s borderline genius….My Silver Doubloon JP chest opener has a new job….

Overall, I think the system is working well, but this is one of the areas that needs some “tweaking” to come up with some sort of solution (and I can’t see it being a 3rd party one….but there are a lot of people out there smarter than me).
Technically, TRANSMUTATION no longer exists….only skinning from the wardrobe.
While I love the wardrobe system itself, the loss of the transmutation ability is a huge loss of flexibility in the overall equipment management system.
I have no idea how this is unlocked for me as I do not have the item (that I can see). I guess maybe I transmuted over it and do have it, but everything I I have is either Rare Guild backpack or Exotic Temple item and there would be no reason to have transmuted them over the Toymaker Bag. SHRUG
I have a number of unique back skins just don’t ever use them as I’m not a big fan of having to look at the distracting visuals all the time.
Misunderstood OP. Reskining the Ascended armor (to non cultural) would allow for the transfer, yes. My bad.
i have a Charr Engineer (Iron Legion) and he is quite Lore Friendly….. One of my favorites to just jump on and play just about anywhere.
As I recall, start a new Ele and NEVER change the Attunement….it will pop up in less than 10 minutes.
This is one of the reasons they made it all ACCOUNT bound…..
It is also a reason they need to come up with some alternative to removing upgrades than the overpriced, GEM only Extractor….
Check GW2spidy for selling prices on those 2 legendaries to see if that is worth it (but I think Incinerator will be less than Twilight so even with the listing fees, you might just make some money
EDIT: I just checked and I doubt you will make any money (and in fact, you may have to spend a bit more as there are VERY few Incinerators listed (only 3).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
No. Anything you do (short of putting some stuff in a Guild Bank) will be lost. Note that your Guild Bank will NOT be rolled back (so anything that was taken from there is NOT going to be returned to you).
You can report the name, but I’m not sure what support would do with it.
I think the Heroic box was given to everyone as part of some promotion (I got one too). It has an armor skin you may want, so you might want to update your ticket and ask support about how to make sure you get it back once your account gets rolled back.
Just lol, ppl on this thread are like straight from kindergartens lunch break.
“Nooooooooo, I dunt wanna eat veggies cuz i dunt like ´em!”
It doesnt kill you if you pop into pvp to do few rounds.
I get that mentality, but it is much more jarring and intimidating for a PvE only player to “pop into PvP” for a few rounds than it is for a PvPer to do a few PvE events. But neither of those SHOULD be a problem if ANet just made it so 12 to 15 dailies showed up on a regular basis.
My only thought is that they intend to limit total achievement points from dailies to 10 per day?

I’m thinking this issue was stealth fixed with one of the small updates recently (more likely this could be / was a server side fix that would require no update).
Except soulbound items don’t exist anymore since the patch, and everything is accountbound now. So that particular problem is solved!
Seriously? Unless ALL your equipment is Ascended and Legendary (and you’re oblivious to the rest of the game), how could even think this was true?
No more overflows. Technically speaking, ALL zones are now what overflows used to be so you are already there.
I would not disagree with it being “toned” down when stored but it is fine during combat.
On the other hand, I would think a visual request of this kind would be somewhere near the bottom of a rather long list of things that Anet needs to “tweak” in this game….
Frankly, they have nothing to gain from posting anything that is not in FINAL stages of implementation. Every comment any Devs makes on these forums (or anywhere on the Net) is twisted, selectively quoted (if not misquoted) while being improperly analyzed and interpreted by anyone with an agenda to promote (kind of like the RL press…hmmm).
While I would like to hear a few more, " we understand this issue is a concern of the player base and we are looking at possible action….stay tuned.", comments, I fully understand the “Speak No Evil”, mentality they have had of late. I don’t particularly like it, but I get it.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Have I missed something? Wasn’t Sparkfly exempt from the megaserver list for now?
I’m pretty sure ANet has now added ALL zones to the MS system. There were no huge technical issue from preventing this full rollout so they did it ASAP (I’ve not seen an official announcement of this, but I’ve also not encountered an area that is not MS nor have I heard of anyone confirming non-MS zones of late).
Note that “(some) players hate this system!”, is NOT a technical reason that would have prevented full roll out. There are certainly some issues that need some consideration and tweaking (RPers totally “screwed”, Ability to find Temple Event from start, Having to actually search for nodes, etc.), but for the most part, the system does exactly what they wanted (provides well populated zones in all areas of the game).
Neither personal guild bank nor extra characters slots will solve a storage issue if everything is Soulbound (which all decent equipment other than Ascended / Legendary will be if ever used…mentioned above). Another Account will not fix the problem either (as you cannot mail Soulbound or Account Bound items).
If you have a good bit of NON-equipment stuff that is not bound (materials, boosters, food, ect.) then THAT can be stored in Guild Banks or another Account (or extra characters) and that will free up main storage area.
On the topic of Guild Banks, be careful with what you store there as it is not widely known that if your account requires a roll back due to being hacked, Guild Banks will NEVER be restored so anything you had there that was taken is GONE GONE GONE. You can also not access a Guild Bank from another server if you ever transfer (stuff will still be there, you just can’t access it).
One small additional trick to “store” items that can be sold on the TP (if you have the gold to “rent” storage space) is to put in a Sell order at price that nobody will ever buy the item. Cancel the sell order when you want the item back. Again, will cost you the listing fee.
