Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
I recall the patch notes mentioning this change, but am unsure of the exact pre-event details to comment on how Maw now spawns (but it does appear it has been changed).
It’s quite possible that the MegaServer system has altered how the party system works if players are in a MS zone. Have you all been in the same zone instance and been unable to join a party?
I guess I’m not sure why the change requires you to get rid of the weapon…..How is it no longer desirable since it has become usable by all your characters?
To be honest, the fact that you can alter on the fly now kind of makes the sites a bit obsolete (but they are helpful). I sure hope they get PVE capable build saves (like in GW1) soon. Sending a text string for an entire build was a very nice feature.
MY DAT file is currently 18.9GB… The answer depends on your internet connection speed (and whether your ISP is gonna start throttling you).
What’s my name?
(couldn’t resist)
One thing I have noted (and tried to teach) is that some players coming from other games seem to ignore the movement and positioning needed in GW2 combat. They get in range, root to one spot and start spamming skill rotations…..and soon become overwhelmed and die. GW2 requires you to actively AVOID getting hit during combat to survive harder encounters and not playing this way during easier encounters (small trash mobs) just teaches players bad (non-movement) habits.
KEEP MOVING and use your Dodge to avoid getting hit. You can circle strafe a few enemies and keep attacking but standing still is a BAD habit that will absolutely get you killed in high end areas.
As stated above, if you are in an area that has enemies even 2 levels higher than you (and you are alone or with similarly leveled players), you are asking for frustration. I’ve run across areas 5, 10 or even 15 levels above my level, but trying to engage even ONE normal enemie 2 levels above yours is not a trivial fight (unless your have some help or very good equipment). A Vet 2 levels higher will be like trying to solo a Champion (it can be done, but requires skill and a mistake is usually fatal).
Go to the other race cities (look for Purple colored portals) to find more lower level areas to explore. You will eventually want to clear those areas anyway.

You may be right. That’s what I’ve always called them (my bad).
While I think the change is a good one, I can understand that someone with characters below 80 feel they are getting “shafted” by the change (the farther below 80 the worse it seems). I “like” the idea of hunting down traits as part of character development, but many users just want to get to 80 ASAP and with the least work possible. I get that this changes makes that more difficult (and expensive if they are not actually “playing” the game to reach 80).
I think all the armor that was PvP was in PvE just named something else. If that’s not the case the armor should be present in the bank view…might take a bit of time to find it if the name changed.
Actually obtaining the skin now is a different story.
There is a gem store item that can remove upgrades from an item, so you CAN get the Melandru runes (but it’s going to cost you). I think this was a side effect of removing the transmutation system that Anet did not consider very well.
Just for grins, send in a Support request on the issue and just maybe they will send you 6 upgrade removal items…..who knows?
Zodiac was a GW1 set from Factions so at least the NAME is fully lore friendly.
You do understand that the gem store is the only method of income Anet has besides new game sales….right? I’m not saying your request is unreasonable, but on the other hand they DO need to make money for the game to stay online.
i agree that the overall number of possibilities needs to be increase to at least 12 if not 15. This is certainly a case where options have been reduced by the patch changes and that is never good.
If you go to MY ACCOUNT (top right of this page, below your display name) you can download the client directly and not need the installation disk at all.
Your email account has been compromised…..
Hackers will do everything possible to NOT alert you to the fact that they have access to your email account (including deleting emails so you never know they came in).
If Anet gets an email from your legit account, they will assume it is you and perform any requested actions without question.

I’m guessing there is some circumstances that the OP is not sharing with us as I have heard nothing but praise for how quickly and fairly Support is handling the refund requests. Sure, not everyone is going to be happy, but they seem to be doing everything they can to make this situation smooth if not painless.
The number of refund request will be massive and will obviously take some time, be patient (you really shouldn’t start even thinking about complaining for 72 hours).
Your logic on the analogy your presented makes NO sense at all. How is refunding points in a progression system that is completely revamped in any way associated with refunding the cost of actual items? You bought them and they are still good. In fact, they have BETTER functionality than before (you CAN swap them).
To be clear I don’t want a refund I’d like to stat swap 3 of the sets. It seems reasonable.
That is a perfectly reasonable request….but it a ’request" and should not be submitted as a demand from a spoiled child (yours was not). The idea that Anet should consider doing something here is not unreasonable, but the attitude that they OWE anyone something for improving the functionality of a type of item is NOT.
If you hover over the spyglass icon next to a locked trait it will detail what you need to do to earn or buy it. If you click on it, the map will show you exactly where you need to go to earn the unlock.
4 trait points now equals 20 previously.
In terms of the old point system you have gained 5 points.
Now earning those higher trait skills might be something to complain about, but it’s not something to delete all your characters over.
That’s not true….Fractals should count as a Dungeon (just like Southsun Cove counts as a new LVL 80 zone).
Still, it’s a year an a half (not nearly 2) and I agree we need a new Dungeon and some LVL 80 zones in Kryta and Ascalon. To be honest, I ignored about 60% of LS content.

(keeping track of recipients and sending greedy jerks BL chests instead)
THAT is an awesome plan…..
I think it would only be fair for extractor to cost same as transmutation charge. Even if for just a sale (or give us some like the charges).
Are you absolutely sure you can’t toss them in the flusher with 2 other exotic items (or one other and forge stone(s))?
If not, if they weren’t exotics, I’d say destroy them so the suggestion to just stash them in hopes they can somehow be useful after some future patch is not the worse advice in the world.
Don’t tell him “no cost” because as a new player he is going to have to EARN every Major trait skill (or buy them). Changing them for free at any time (non-combat) is a great change, but new players are going to have to work a bit for the trait skills to make the builds veteran players take for granted.
Don’t get me wrong, I think the change is awesome and am considering starting a new character myself to test out the system in full (I have an open character slot).
Have you LEFT HotM and gone to a PvE area yet?
My PvP stuff triggered when I LEFT HotM (was just passing thru to get to Gandaran last night).
OP is confusing trait points and trait skills (nomenclature is rather confusing as we also have normal and elite skills involved….)
Trait points are no longer assigned linearly like before and here is the progression (per the release notes):
Level 30—1 Trait Point
Level 36—1 Trait Point
Level 42—1 Trait Point
Level 48—1 Trait Point
Level 54—1 Trait Point
Level 60—1 Trait Point
Level 66—2 Trait Points
Level 72—2 Trait Points
Level 78—2 Trait Points
Level 80—2 Trait Points
Points are now available a bit later with more points becoming available once the highest tier of traits is opened at Level 60.

Guild resources ARE server bound, so while transferring would not “technically” loose your stuff you would not longer be able to access it. It would still exist in the Guild Bank on your old server, you would just not have any way to open it and get to the items.
If you transferred back to the old server, you could again access it.
Your personal bank is NOT the same way however so you COULD transfer everything out of the personal Guild bank to your personal storage and then transfer. At that point you could rebuild the guild vault on the new server.

this is tech support, where is the tech support??
This is the Tech Support forum, but NOT actual game support. You need to open a ticket if you want “official” Anet support.
Every combination would be 80 (5 races x 2 sexes x 8 professions).
CS will most likely gladly return your gems if you open a ticket.
I doubt anything will be done about the character slot limit, however.
What really makes me sad is the fact that so many here are just 100% convinced that ANet will do NOTHING to try and correct or mitigate this issue in any way. I see both perspectives and I have to agree that Anet has a bigger responsibility to try and improve the open world experience of typical players over the RPing community in general, but to think they at they will do nothing to try and satisfy Rpers is just not justified.
Yes, this system has both Pros and Cons but how about you give them some time to enhance the Pros and address the Cons before declaring the system a total disaster that has destroyed the game for everyone.
TLDR: Calm down and let Anet do some adjustments to this system….it’s a BIG change to the game and make take some time to tweak.
They are not forcing ANYTHING down your throat….you have OPTION to earn the trait skills or buy it. I actually find the idea of EARNING the trait skills a good thing as it gives you reason to go out and do specific open world tasks.
It did not show up on my daily either. I’m wondering if the list on the wiki just lists the ones that USED to always be a daily, but that has changed since the achievements have been combined with yesterday’s patch?
I also noted that I went to get Big Spender at the WvW skin seller and opened a few skins I wanted. I spent 30 Badges, but the Achievement still showed 0% completed. I took a screen shot and reported it as a bug. I then traveled back to Gandaran and the 100% registered when I zoned in.
I suspect there is some lingering strangeness with Achievements due to the patch.

I suggest you try /sit or any other emote first as it often fixes this and is much faster than logging out and in.
There were also reported issues of yahoo.com and gmail.com accounts (and potentially others?) blocking the verification emails. Note this is not an issue that Anet can fix but support can certainly work with you to gain access to your account and try to eliminate the continued issue.
I have a suggestion that I will keep to myself….(don’t want the infraction).
I think if you have a valid case for needing a splitter, support will help you out (I think I read where they supplied someone with a free one now that they can no longer be purchased).
Submit a support request.
I’ve seen several alerts from security experts that due to the high profile media coverage of the recent Heartbleed bug, email phishing and other scams to gain users personal information is bound to escalate (blaming HEARTBLEED as the reason for the contact).
Everyone should be aware that GW2 servers were NEVER vulnerable to the bug (no OpenSSL code used at GW2 login sites). Any emails or other notifications you may receive claiming to be from ANet about needing to change your password or log in to a linked server should be viewed the EXTREME caution and likely ignored and deleted. I cannot say for sure if this is the case for NCSoft servers.
Note that it IS possible that other sites or services WILL contact you about the legitimate need for security changes but I don’t see any reason that Anet would (since Devs have confirmed they were never vulnerable). As a side note, I would warn against clicking any links inside other security warning emails as well. If you get an email from somewhere you do buisness, open your browser and go the site as you normally do and search at the site for any information on Heartbleed or needs to change security information from there.
Just a heads up to the community.

You have to log in with the character AFTER the patch goes live to unlock that characters dyes (or get any UIDs if they have duplicates).
DON’T delete your character yet.
The change in critical damage will be across the board (not just GS weapon) and frankly it needs a bit of a nerf.
Actually, I think GS will be BETTER after the patch as you will be able to apply a 2nd Sigil to them.
Just goes to show that I learn something new everyday (sometimes it’s good, sometimes not so much….) This was a good one (Show Rarity toggle).
dont do this
when arenanet bring cooking lvl 500 they delete all your recipes 80+ again^^
So you can gain experience (and thus level you beyond 400) discovering them again….How DARE they!!!! << sarcasim
Should change your title….sounds as if you are complaining that there is too much silk available (not that you want silk required for Damask reduced).
The Damask required for light armor should be brought in line with other Ascended armor material requirements.
Can’t you guest and do dungeons or world events?
There are web pages out there that detail what is currently available on other servers you could guest to.
There is nothing wrong with the current cooking material gathering system so there is no reason to change it.
If you want staple items added to the cooking vendors, that is also questionable since it would effect potential sale of the items on the TP. That is not a good thing for buyers or sellers.
BTW, there are already a good many items required to do cooking available ONLY with Karma, so adding more does not really make much sense.
Getting cooking to 400 (or possibly 500 in the future) is NOT “Pay 2 Win”. That term is uses far too many places on these forums by players that have NO idea what it really means. If you can actually progress in the game without the items, the are not needed “to Win”. Many on-line web based games CANNOT be advanced any further without paying real money for items you MUST have to move forward in the game…..those are “PAY 2 WIN”.
Guild Wars 2 has many “Pay to progress faster” or “Pay to make easier” points but all of them (as far as I know) allow you to purchase the items with in game currencies (not force you to use RL money).

I should not have said ALL but MOST in my post. Sorry if that implied nobody makes stuff for southpaws (not the case).
If you consider what constitutes the large portions of a patch, it has to be new graphics files and in terms of those, I think this patch will have very few…..unless the mechanic to unlock trait skills actually introduces new content (Bosses, map changes, etc.).
Beyond that, all the graphics content (wardrobe, PvP alteration, etc.) is already in the game files….your characters just will have different access to it. I don’t think UI interface changes and functionality on the client end require that much data to be transferred to the DB files (but I could certainly be wrong).
Long story short, it could be surprisingly small considering how much of the game it is going to alter.
Pretty sure servers will be patched on the fly (if they have not already been done or in progress). They likely have the updated servers sitting there waiting to generate new “patched” zones when clients with the new code log in. These days, servers use virtual machines that are likely both clustered and load balanced to allow for updates that are seamless to the end user client. I seriously don’t recall the last time they took down the game for “maintenance” and I have not seen an announcement that this will be the case today.

I would say the obvious answer is that there are multiple MMOs that require TRINITY type play and they didn’t want GW2 to be just another one of those? I for one and quite happy with that decision (and if you are not, those other MMOs DO (for the most part) still exist and you can go play them).
Anet has stated many times that Guild resources are NEVER going to be rolled back (or restored) for any reason.
I didn’t know Guild vaults can’t be restored. WTH, I keep most of my resources in my Guild vault. You know, with the word “vault” in it’s name, it should be more secured.
That is secured from Anet’s on a technical level. If it glitches and somehow everything is gone, I expect it to be restored. For someone physically removing items, I don’t expect Anet to be able to discern whom is in the right to do so.
I have never heard of a game bug instance being PROVED to have lost items from a personal or guild vault via a bug (tho there are issues with guild inventory and resources lagging that have caused issues), so I’m not sure how it’s less secure (from a game bug perspective) than anything else on the GW2 servers.
While the support claims seem to indicate it’s not technically possible to roll back a guild vault, I suspect its very strict policy is more to prevent dupping scams (similar to the 1 rollback per account limit on personal storage).
Well unfortunately, all gaming input devices are going to be made based on a right hand configuration. I know lots of Left handed people that have simply learned to deal with having to use a mouse with their right hand (of course the mouse buttons can be swapped, but that does not help when all games default keyboard controls for right handed play).
Seriously, there has to be some “lefty” gamer websites out there that specialize in what southpaws need to do for PC gaming.
Yes….my bad….bought a few skins this morning to meet the “Big Spender” daily.
