Instant repair kits will NOT be useless and will continue to be carried by my characters as “insurance” like revive orbs. Zero repair costs do you no good if there is no repair NPC nearby….

Everyone is assuming this, but what if the UIDs Anet provides us are account bound (PvP type UID dyes)? Not saying this is going to happen, but the response would be “interesting” to watch….

Without a relative control on the supply, cornering a market is not possible.

I’m not sure how buying up all of them and HOLDING them is a good idea….shouldn’t you immediately list some of them at the new “higher” price? You could then potentially make a sale (to the unwary) and/or fool the new lucky players that got the new drop into listing at your higher price point (or just slightly undercutting it).

I’m sure I’m missing something here and that’s the reason I don’t play the TP (besides the fact that I don’t have 1000s of gold to high-roll with).

Personally, I find leveling characters to be the most enjoyable part of this game and intentionally do very little crafting to avoid leveling too quickly. To each there own.

I beg to differ as I have never had an issue that Anet Support did not resolve to my satisfaction rather promptly. You are entitled to your opinion, but my experiences with Support is NOT indicative of your overly negative comments.

I think it will be less about the maps completely respawning more (in fact, they are more likely to respawn LESS if the system works as ANet describes) but players will be unable to uniquely identify the maps they are on to mark locations on the web pages AND players NOT being able to able to select which map you want to travel to. Until we get more details about map naming and potential player control of what map you load into, everything about this issue is pure speculation.

The only thing I can say for sure is that attempt to do resource “runs” will be quite different than now.

I ran the Pirate one a few days ago and I died 3 times (finally used a revive orb). I don’t know if i was just out of practice (had not run it in a while) or they have made the slide down into "Chompy"s pool more likely to kill you. It appeared to me they had changed the timing on the spiked hallways as well, but again, I had not run it since before Wintersday started.

There are 3 JPs in LA to do Troll’s End has a few very frustrating sections and is a bit longish but the one behind to Ogre in the far EAST cave is quite simple and very quick.

Mystic Flushing Nuggets and Marks also has a chance of generating SDs.

Check the Windows Event Viewer (search EVENT) under Applications and Serivces. You are looking for anything that mentions the GW2.EXE program but any error reported during the time GW2 closes would be a clue as to what is happening (so look at the other logs as well).

Actually, I would highly advise finding the board you plan to purchase and buying at LEAST the motherboard from Amazon. If you get a board with bent cpu pins, NewEgg will NOT return it, Amazon will. Just a heads up regarding NewEgg’s horrible customer service regarding motherboards with bent cpu pins.

This is false. I have returned CPU’s with Bent pins back to newegg quite often actually.
You have to supply images of the CPU’s Pins, the Packaging, and the shipping container to get the RMA. But they WILL do it.

This shows that the packaging is what bent the Pins and not user error.

My post was regarding motherboard returns to NewEgg, which is nothing new, NewEgg is known for their mobo return issues when bent pins play a role.

I’ve never had ANY issue with returning anything to Newegg, so I have to call BS on this one. I’m trying to figure out what PINS you are finding BENT? an LPGA socket doesn’t have any “pins” but the ball grid array socket can get damaged. I would suspect this damage is result of a “refurbished” or “open box” item, not a new one. I’ve purchased +50 full sets of system components from Newegg.com and NEVER gotten anything that was physically damaged. I’ve certainly gotten a number of memory sticks and a few other system components that were defective, but never damaged motherboard sockets or slots and certainly never any damaged processors (always use Intel). In no instance have I ever had anything but prompt service with getting defective items replaced.

Might be UAC is blocking access or you need to be a local administrator on the system to run / install the program (or download the DAT file). Try starting GW2.EXE with administrator privilage (or make your user a local administrator).

BTW, this mostly an English speaking forum, so translating that error for us might get some better suggestions.

I just gave my son a 4000 gem card and it was printed and the number was printed on a high quality, lacquered, official card (not a “slip of paper”). 95% sure somebody in that store is stealing codes and sticking BS numbers in the boxes to cover it up (all retail stores have a machine to re-wrap boxes so they look factory sealed).

Go into the store and demand to speak to a manager. Show them what you got and that you tired the code and it does not work (make sure of that first…your post does not actually state that you tried to use it). Tell him you are fairly sure that the numbers come on an actual printed and lacquered card, not like this one and you suspect fraud. If he offers a new card, make him open the container himself before you leave the store. Do not accept another “slip of paper” type code. Get his business card and the store information (Gamestop store number). If he refuses to make this good, it’s a pretty sure bet he’s in on the theft being made in this store.

Despite what happens at the store, immediately call Gamestop HQ and report the incident. Often managers (or assistant managers) of stores are either complicit or well aware of their employees illicit activities (or will try to cover it up when they become aware).

The other (less than honest) way of playing this is threatening to call Gamestop HQ and see if they offer you some “incentives” to smooth things over. You can take the extra stuff and then call Gamestop HQ anyway. I am in now way condoning this action (just mentioning it as possible).

I have known more than few people that work in the retail sales industry (and worked in it myself for just over a year….sad to say) and inside theft is quite common across the board.

Open a Support ticket (SERVICES > SUPPORT > SUBMIT A TICKET) as nobody here can directly assist you. I did this myself months ago and Support refunded my gems promptly.

The bug certainly needs to be looked into and fixed, but your claim that they “Can’t restore items” (per YOUR title), does not appear to be true (at least yet). How about you wait until Support turns down your request before declaring something “unfair”?

I have seen plenty of instances where Support has done refunds and other things to help players (even if it IS 100% the players fault). Now the fact that this has to do with a GUILD issue, will possibly make this not resolvable in your favor as they tend to not make changes, rollbacks or refunds when it comes to GUILDs.

Be careful about spending Karma because they Devs have made it MUCH more difficult to obtain than it used to be (I am a bit above a casual player and had about 1.5 million karma at one point). I suggest you save it.

Buying one weapon now and again as you level up isn’t a big deal, but it’s a huge waste to spend it on armor you will outgrow in 10 levels. Now that I think about it, after the update on April 15th, spending karma on a set of armor or weapon you REALLY like the look of will NOT be a waste as once you equip it, you will be able to apply that look to any character’s weapon or armor from that point on.

I’m guessing each item in the wardrobe has an associated “transmute charge cost”. It would make sense that the Heritage skins and the Achievement obtain skins would cost 0 charges. Pure speculation, however.

This is NOT a bad suggestion at all. Should be presented in the Suggestions forum, however.

Condition builds are not “useless” nor do they “suck”.

They DO have damage limitations when muiltiple players with Condition builds attack the same target (and that situation DOES currently “suck”).

Taking a bunch of condition builds into a Zerg type setting will be detrimental tot he overall damage capabilities of the group and this is NOT the case with Zerker or Power builds.

Something should be done to remove the limitation and / or mitigate the damage lost, but simply “increasing” the damage condition damage does is NOT the correct answer to the problem and suggesting it is means you don’t really understand the issue you are trying to suggestion a solution to.

I’ve always advocated some sort of BONUS damage per hit on a PvE max condition stacked foe that is based on the players Condition Damage attribute (would require very high Condition Damage to cause significant BONUS damage).

The only real difference I see is the outline of the tower / fortress. I don’t recall any structure like that existing in Timberline Falls so maybe that’s why it was altered? shrug

I think they mentioned that the name of the item is taken from the actual STAT providing item in the transmutation, THUS it would NOT get the name DUSK (as that would just be the skin visual, not the STATs).

Keep in mind this “feature” in the game currently is bugged as far as I can tell so unless they are FIXING the naming source when transmuting, don’t be surprised if this does not work like they intend it to. I would still think that since we are specifically speaking about Precursors, Legendaries and Ascended gear, I suspect they will make every effort to allow the name to only be present on the ACTUAL top tier gear item.

I seem to recall installing GW2 on my laptop at work (10Mb connection…it was after office hours) and it took about 5 hours to complete. Thus my statement that I don’t think the GW2 servers are the limiting factors in most case (they are pretty good at supplying the data). Of course, there are PLENTY of other potential bandwidth limiting factors when downloading large hunks of data over the public internet and it’s likely that most ISPs (especially if a consumer / residential connection) would start throttling you after a few hours of constant download anyway.

Now that you mention the inscriptions, you would have to craft a full DOZEN incorrect items….

My understand is that a new set of MONTHLIES will be released after the update on the 15th (that consolidates PvE & PvP achievements). It was unclear if those obtaining the Monthly before the 15th (only requires 2 monthlies) will also be able to obtain the second set (reportedly will require 4 monthlies). My guess is that if you get the pre-15th Monthly, you will already have completed the one released post-15th (but again, I don’t think the announcement was crystal clear on that issue).

Have you tried doing a repair on the GW2 DB file (I would be highly surprised if support did not have you do this already)?

I’ll ask again if the Event Log mentions the GW2.EXE program at all?

Also, wouldn’t hurt to reinstall DX9 as this DOES sound like a potential video issue.

Seriously, you are complaining that to Anet that it takes too long to download an 18GB file? How do you propose they get that data to your PC?

I’m not sure how an Alternate download site would help this as the bottle-kneck is likely your personal connection, not the Anet servers (unless a new patch just released….that can certainly slow down the download servers).

I agree with Lazarus. If none of those players have violated the rules, they should all be able to get their account access back and the same would hold true for you. While a ban would be a bad situation, I doubt anyone here can absolutely guarantee it could never happen to them. Worrying about that is not worth the time….just don’t break the rules and deal with the ban if it happens.

That is a VERY interesting piece of information that many here that have issues with YAHOO mail might like to know. How is there NO way to turn off (or modify) the bulk email filter?

BTW, I use ATT email (or did…I am in the process of moving everything over to outlook.com) and it is hosted by Yahoo mail servers but I have never seen any issue getting support or authentication emails.

Does this bit of information need to be added to the generic thread about support emails not getting to players? How about some effort on Anet’s part to get removed from this bulk email filter (I 100% get that this is NOT ANet’s fault and in no way feel they are responsible for fixing this).

You can submit a ticket, but I doubt they are going to assist with SIX instances of user error. I’m not trying to be rude, but something doesn’t smell quite right here, but good luck with your efforts with CS.

Open a ticket with support (Services > Support > Submit a ticket).

One thing to consider when you do this is to set up an email alias on your new account and ONLY use that alias for GW2 contact and log in (and associate the alias to the account). Doing so prevents anyone that knows your actual email address from being halfway to hacking your account.

Does the task manager list GW2.EXE as (not responding)?
Have you checked the Applications event log for any errors associated with GW2.exe (and what does support say about those errors if present)?

I’m pretty sure any MMO that does not have a zero tolerance policy for cheating/hacking is doomed to failure before release. Instanced multiplayer games are not the same thing, but I have to think the threat of being banned is a strong deterrent for lots of players that might otherwise consider using cheating tools that are available to them.

I’m not talking about “exploits” in the game, I’m talking about 3rd party programs that actively inject data into the game packets to ALTER the game functionality while playing.

What do you mean by “soulbound upgrades”? Maybe I’m missing something here, but I don’t recall ever seeing any upgrade item have this property (no limitations beyond a level requirement).

I mean really, what was the point of your reply? its very obvious we need a better reporting option for harassment, with or without dueling, it’s a core problem in any multiplayer game that ANet needs to find a solution for, blocking features for the potential of harassment makes no sense at all.

I don’t think he was implying that was the ONLY reason to not support this “feature”, just that it IS an issue that many players (note MANY more than would want to DUEL) would find endlessly annoying.

The bottom line on this issue is that you need to prove to ANet that there are enough players that want this (in the game….not on the this forum) for them to consider it feasible to assign resources to. I don’t think that is going to happen (and for the reasons I stated….players that would want this are already killing other players in WvW and PvP).

I’m of the opinion that there MUST be some method to alter the existing Condition Damage model to improve long term damage even while maintaining the 25 stack limit (that is reportedly a hard coded limitation necessary to maintain servers side performance….NOT an option to increase).

Suggestion:

• When the 25 stack limit is reached the damage being applied by that condition (per tick is a known value DMG).
• IF the 25 stacks are maintained for X period of time (that could be determined by how quickly the stacks were or ARE being added), increase the damage DMG by some % (that could be related to the condition damage of players applying the stacks)
• Increase or decrease the DMG modifier based on time the 25 stacks are maintained or lost.
• Remove increased DMG if stacks fall below 25 for some period of time.

I have no idea if some form of the above could be put in place and NOT put an undue performance burden on the server, but I do agree SOME solution must be investigated. As of now, it appears that Anet’s solution to the problem is to tone down Crit damage some (but that doesn’t fix the issue when 10 Condition Damage players are attacking a Champ).

Firm vote against allowing open world dueling…..it alters the already established co-op flavor of the open world game. With the plans laid out by the Megaserver project, it seems obvious they want to reinforce this, not destroy it.

That being said, I have no issue with a dedicated instance area that allows dueling, but I do not condone a huge amount of design resources be directed at this development (but that’s not our call). As long as I never have to enter the area, more power to you.

This area wold make much more sense under the WvW sphere of control as I venture 90% of the players that want this are already WvW players. I’m not sure why this would even be associated with the PvE open world at all.

cheater “honey pot” server…..interesting idea.

My main question is that if is “determined” that the player needs to be transferred to this so called, “cheater server”, why would Anet just not perma-ban the account? It really makes little sense to give a person that violates your ELUA some sort of “grace period”…they just need to be gone from the game.

In the case of Titanfall, it is a instance based multiplayer game and EA does not have the authority to ban Xbox Live accounts (that I’m aware of). They also likely don’t want to loose potential customers this soon in the game’s life, thus they have a reason to try and rehabilitate cheaters (rather than just ban them from the game).

I would venture that it is not a question of wattage being sufficient, but that the 500W you are currently using may be in some way defective (or going bad). A GT440 is not a huge memory hog video board, so unless your are running a huge number of physical hard disks, I would think 500W should be ok, but 700W is certainly better (duh!).

Immediate shut downs like that (without a Blue Screen displaying) usually indicate a very low level hardware failure….most likely your Power Supply is defective in some way (failing and power is being removed from the motherboard). Note that different games can put different loading demands on a system, so one program can run just fine and another will trigger the failure….I know it sounds crazy, but GW2 can tax hardware much more than other games (CPU in particular).

That is just an educated guess (but I’ve been troubleshooting PCs for +20 years).

I would change your email password IMMEDIATELY.

If a hacker somehow logged into your email, they can request a password change and since it is coming from your email, Anet will do it (I have suggested this be changed, but was told the email was verification enough). The hacker can then use the link to change your GW2 account password and then delete all emails associated with the transaction. Either you interrupted the process of being hacked, or it’s a phishing email.

Change your email account password and get in touch with Anet CS to ask about any requests for a password change that appeared to come from your email.

Don’t post multiple times here as that does no good. Certainly don’t submit more than one CS ticket or that will just slow down the process. It may take 72 hours to get an actual response (but you should get an automated confirmation eamil very soon after submitting the ticket).

Keep in mind if your email account has been compromised a hacker could quickly delete ANet response emails….I suggest you change your email account password immediately.

If your account was actually hacked that indicates your email account has been compromised. Web mail messages can be deleted such that there is no way you can see what has transpired between the hacker and Anet (Through what Anet considers your VALID email account….they considered any requests, etc. as coming directly from you).

Change your web based email password (and consider getting a different email account and get CS to change to that one once your GW2 account is secured).

It does not make sense that you cannot log into your game account but can log in here….are you sure you are using your email address and not your display name to try and log into the game?

Wait til after the patch release and put in a ticket. I’m betting you get your gems refunded.

Isn’t it likely they will alter the low level area rewards so there is NOT a relatively easy and free (yet time consuming) way to obtain transmutation charges? I know I would if I were selling the charges…..

Besides, nobody is taking away the Champ Trains, just toning down the gold rewards.

You complain about every suggestion to make gold being provided to you, but disregard every other user that complains about how boring, degenerative and simplistic Champ farming is.

Except karka vets don’t reward the additional effort required to solo it over a regular karka. Nobody in the game could manage to make a veteran karka profitable over killing regulars in the same amount of time. The game also doesn’t differentiate between 50 lazy people killing 1 npc and 1 nonlazy person doing the same thing, but the nonlazy guy gets considerably less loot in the end because the 50 man moved off and killed dozens of other things in the same time.

Yeah, didn’t mean it was economically viable, just that the OPs skill / tactics may be in question if he is claiming he is unable to kill a Karka Vet solo.

No where near the worst (but no doubt it could use some improvements). Gross exaggerations like the title taint the entire rest of the OPs comments and contradict the attempt at constructive criticism (intended or not).

SUGGESTION - Account based wishlist.

Lets players list items they want (even the ones not currently available) and possibly alert players when the items go on sale or show up again. I’m sure this information would be invaluable to Anet as well.

The recipes are outrageously priced on the TP now (at least for the ones that would make sense for Celestial stats). Been waiting for the Bazaar of Four Winds to open back up (where these originated in the first place).

I doubt the “select a reward” for the materials will happen, but I do like the idea of a forge recipe to convert materials (or at LEAST convert Bloostone Dust into something more useful than the consumables they have released so far).
