Did you CHANGE your associated email password? Keyloggers are very rare and it is more likely that you’ve used that password and email at another site that has been compromised (and thus hackers have the combination on a list they bought).

Beg to differ. It is actually quite difficult to craft appropriate level gear as a new player as you don’t normally have the materials yet, nor the funds to buy materials. I crafted my own equipment each 15 levels (Masterwork) for every character I have (one of each Class) except the first few (because I didn’t have the materials nor funds to keep up my crafting item levels with my character levels).

If you collect materials along the way, it is not difficult to do, but you have to alternate characters (rather than rush a single character up to 80), so you can raise your crafting when materials become available.

IMO, buying equipment at ALL (from TP, karma vendors, etc.) is a complete waste as you are going to trash the equipment rather quickly as you level. I think I spent Karma on a few RARE weapons at LVL 40 & 60 and bought the Guild Backpacks when they became available to me, but everything else was either drops or crafted.

You can certainly do it as you describe, but saving your resources until you reach 80 (when your equipment actually matters) is a smarter move in my honest opinion.

You only unlock the skins that your current equipment has (and the last skin it was last transmuted from).

To make sure you unlock everything you need to:

1. Log in with all chracters
2. Visit the BL Armorer NPC with each character and ask for your town clothes / outfits.
3. Visit PvP lobby to unlock any PvP equipment skins you had in your locker.

That’s just FUD. These days most hacks are because of hacked email accounts (from what I have seen).

Classes are all in a pretty good state (a few more so than others) but forum goers are ALWAYS going to claim their favorite class is in some way underpowered so they get improved (rather than nerfed). The fact that they will change in some way is a given in an MMO.

This philosophy brought me a ton of cash when Silk price went up with Ascended Crafting and my bank guild was full of Silk stacks I got from playing.

I would never just DESTROY something that has an actual use for someone other than myself (and can be SOLD to them). If I could Vendor Bloodstone Dust, I’d be all over the NPCs.

IMO the best use is making Mystic Salvage Kits. Hold your BL Salvage Kits for when you MUST get the upgrade (or want the best chance of rare materials) and use MSKs to salvage everything else.

As long as you don’t have to buy the Stones, the MSK is the most economical Salvage Kit to use on a regular basis.

My suggestion is to take a few months off (and since there is no new LS content in sight…this would be a good time).

The fact that the OP continually uses words incorrectly (like ILLOGICAL), brings all his arguments into question.

Seriously, this is a dead issue if for no other reason than there is no REASON for someone to need to trade directly with a stranger. The other reason is that Anet has made it abundantly clear this is not even something they would consider adding to the game (mostly because it is not needed). The OP needs to PROVE it is needed, not ask us to PROVE why it is not (can’t prove a negative).

While I don’t think they are trying to create that illusion as much as actually getting players together with other players (sans the RP issues being discussed here), there is another motive here that most players seem to miss. An economic one that is possibly quite large.

How many map instances do you think Anet had running on a 24 hour average before MS? The number would ALWAYS include multiplying by the number of world servers under the old system (51 worlds)

How many map instances do you think are being maintained on average over a 24 hour period with MS in place? It’s possible that it could be 5 to 10 times less (and possibly more). Considering each of those zones likely takes a separate VM (don’t know that to be the case) in a hosted server farm, that could end up being some SIGNIFICANT cost reductions over a monthly billing cycle.

Now I personally feel this change is a HUGE win-win for players and Anet, but I DO see how this may not be the case for the RP community. I know Anet wants to avoid splintering the community any more than necessary, but they are obviously having to maintain some separate server groups based on language, so I’m not sure a separate server set for RPers would be out of the question (I think they would need to evaluate just how MANY players would play on RP servers to justify or discount the idea).

I’m not sure putting a utility that could directly saps server performance (no matter how small) accessible to the public would be a great idea….(the info would certainly be nice, but the potential for abuse is HUGE).

It’s not unusual for a Support person to escalate an issue to another companies employee (obviously the company that hosts the servers MUST have Network Engineers) and just not related the information that another company’s employee will actually be looking into the problem. His statement about not hearing back from them kind of supports that (the Network Engineer at the hosting company likely has no direct responsibility to get back to the CS Agent about a specific request unless that is covered by the support contract Anet has with the hosting company).

I’m sure it’s less of a “billing” issue as a single complaint not being high enough priority to pursue vigorously. Hosting companies do have some level of responsibility to maintain a spec connection that is free from interruptions without any extra “billing” being involved. From my experience with large hosting companies (on a very small scale), they are usually very responsive to such requests .

If you are running windowed mode with a 2nd screen. Clicking on certain items (by accident) on the 2nd screen can also cause this. This is easy to do when you loose your cursor in the heat of a battle (with FX flying about).

Just a possibility that I’m aware of.

That means your email account is being accessed by the hacker….SECURE IT. A hacker has NOTHING to gain by letting you know they have access to your email account and everything to gain by not letting you know they have access to your email.

You accusing Anet of security problems and “bothering” you with emails (that you somehow think is THEIR fault when they “disappear”) is beyond ironic. Someone in this thread needs to “get their act together”, and it’s not Anet….

Now if you need help in securing your hacked account (and email), try requesting it in a nicer tone and many players and Anet will be happy to assist you.

They are monitoring her email account via web. Anything your wife EVER used that email account for is subject to being hacked. Change all website logins ever connected with that email account and secure it (start with changing it’s password and notifying the provider that you suspect it has been compromised). Consider any 2 tier authentication on the email account or just abandon it and start a new one (that is the most safe). You need to turn on mobile authentication on the GW2 account once secured (if possible as that takes away a hackers ability to do so and lock your wife out).

Note that Ascended armor is needed for HIGH LEVEL fractals. You can do lower level fractals in any armor (as AGONY, the condition that requires the Ascended equipment) does not show up until a certain Fractal level and starts to get progressively more dangerous as you rise in Fractal levels.

The OP obviously has an agenda and is making blatantly nonfactual and illogical claims to prove an invalid point. His arguments are so bad I’m not sure if he is trolling or just unable to grasp the concept that something that is not needed is simply not needed.

Considering a Mesmer can generate 3 more copies of themselves to “even the score” a bit, I’d say it’s highly likely. Despite what you would think, it’s quite difficult to find the real Mesmer in the heat of battle when they are cranking out Clones one after another.

I am right on the brink of destroying half a dozen stacks of my Bloodstone dust…..It taking up half a bank tab and I have no intention of going for Ascended armor.

Somehow I know the minute I do, they will raise Cooking and Jewelry to 500 and some amazing recipe will take 1000 Bloodstone dust per item…..

Ascended weapons are a reasonable goal to pursue but are a long term goal and offer only a slight numerical advantage to Exotic weapons.

Ascended armor, on the other hand provides some smaller increases and take significantly more resources and time (mostly due to needing 6 items for a set0. This is VERY true of the light Ascended armor as it requires an increased amount of Ascended materials than the other sets (we have no idea why).

Keep in mind that if you hit 80 and are strapped for cash and have deficient equipment, You can buy Rare (yellow) items of the TP for fairly cheap (with some searching) as some temporary kit. It will give you something decent to wear while you work toward Full Exotic gear (or Ascended if you chose to go that route). You can also get LVL 80 Rare weapons from faction and racial NPC vendors for some karma (but keep in mind that any upgrades you put on those NPC purchased equipment cannot be recovered as those items are not salvageable.

The inscriptions / Insignias (and some items) at the higher levels (Rare (yellow) and up) REQUIRE that you obtain the recipes to craft them. There is no way around it.

There are less desired Superior sets on the TP that won’t break your bank and still give decent bonuses…..search the TP for “superior rune”. While you are at it, you can search for Exotic Armor on the TP….the price has dropped to some reasonable values since Ascended has been introduced (tho, you will find the more desired and non-craftable stat combos to still be valued highly).

Another option is to put cheap orbs that give you the stats you want on the (WvW, Karma or Dungeon) armor while you earn enough gold to buy the rune set you really want. It’s not optimal, but at least it gives you some decent armor to wear while working toward your desired setup.

Gambling for Superior Runes in the Mystic Flusher can get you some of the Runes you need, but you will likely be waiting a LONG time (or buying a LOT of Minor runes) to get a full set of 6 (so you will likely end up filling out the set from the TP).

As long as he is aware he can’t currently salvage any upgrades off it, how is this armor worse than any other Exotic? I was under the impression, this is EXACTLY what karma was being saved up for.

Also, there is a big difference in fighting / running to open temples and running hours and hours of Dungeons to get enough Tokens…..

I’d like to know your understanding of how nodes spawn.

I wrote a small book and a site relog error ate it………..DOH!

Short version: Nodes only move location when maps / zones are fully recreated.

• Maps are no longer valid (destoryed) at some point after the last player leaves it.
• Maps are created when the first player tries to enter a zone that needs a new map (now determined by the MS system).

Note that the only time the above MUST happen is when new code is released as it appears no players with different code bases can both exist in the same map (which makes perfect sense).

The only way (that I’m aware of) to tell what server you are currently on is typing ‘/ip’ in chat (returns the server IP address you are currently on). You can rezone to try and FIND a specific IP address. TIP: You can rezone at you location by entering a WvW area and then exiting WvW via the WvW menu (lower right hand corner).

• Races….maybe (but I doubt it….too much graphics work).
• Classes….doubtful. Anet has added classes to existing games in the past (GW1) and while the majority of players embraced them, even the Devs have admitted it sent the game (mostly balance) out of control and it took them YEARS to get it back to a semi stable state (and some would argue it broke it for good).

All indications I have seen from Dev comments indicate they have a long list of things to “add” to the game and neither of these are visible on that list. Hey, there could be some super-secret expansion plans in the works they are keeping hush hush that includes new Races & Classes, but I’ve seen nothing that indicates this is the case (admittedly, it wouldn’t be very “super-secret” if we had).

From a financial perspective, it either (or both) would certainly increase character slot purchases.

I doubt this is a LVL issue (my son has a LVL 5 theif and he bought gems this weekend). It’s likely an account age issue.

Wait…how could you NOT recover the compromised email? If an email account exists out on the internet that WAS associated to you and you no longer have control of….that is a recipe for disaster (and to be quite honest sounds VERY suspicious).

You need to make every effort to ensure that email account is closed / deleted (or under your control in some manner).

Just as a side note, your friend DOES understand how serious a hacked email account can be, right? If that site is what he used for bank or CC sites, he could have problems MUCH larger than a hacked GW2 account.

Secure that email account and then go to all important websites and disassociate that email address from any sites that could cause issues. Pay very close attention to any websites that have direct access to financial information or vendor sites that have any CC info saved.

Many emails allow you to see recent account activity and you are able to see if someone other than you is accessing your account. Please review the security on your email and if you see any of these outside your network accesses… your email is compromised… abandon as per suggestion.

Keep in mind that in the case of my compromise I HAD definite proof that my email had been compromised (The ticket the hacker opened to change my password on my GW2 account) and yet my email provider (starts with a Y and ends with a OO) indicated nobody but me had ever accessed it. I was given a lot of double talk when I asked them about the compromise and lack of correct info and needless to say I no longer use them (and take everything I am told by corps with a grain of salt…. Hey, it’s free email….).

They likely hacked the email account associated with GW2 account. They can request a password change from your email and it will be assumed to be coming from you (since it IS the valid email on the account). Change your email account password and keep in mind that some webmail sites MAY allow a hacker to keep the email page open indefinitely even after you change the password. Per above suggestions, abandon that email account entirely.

The whole crafting display could use a revamp. My pet peeves:

• HORRIBLE highlighting of the selected item in the crafting list. I’m guessing this is the actual reason most players mistakenly craft the wrong item. The selected item of every other line is very difficult to discern by just looking at the list (and the other lines just barely).
• Selected display options of the list (closed / open categories, filters, etc.) are lost when another tab is selected. Those settings can’t be that hard to maintain while the crafting window is open.
• Get rid of the useless window after a successful discovery (or at least make it close-able via ESC). I’ve crafted way too many 2nd items when I meant to make the next discovery.

AFAIK, the set has only become unavailable with the Wardrobe update. The only way to ever get all the pieces was via PvP rewards (as far as I know). Yes, they need to address PvP only sets that have been made unavailable by the Wardrobe changes, but I think this is less than half a dozen sets….there are plenty of others to collect until they (maybe) fix this.

Anet does not earn any revenue from the TP tax….it’s just a gold sink (that ALL MMOs need to have). Not having to handle scammer support tickets DOES cost them less overhead, however.

This will not be fixed. They intended that player to player (secure) trades not be possible. I completely eliminates the possibility of player scamming.

Hammer’s not that great in PvE for a Warrior, but Hammer on a Guardian?….being able to keep up Protection and Retaliation while bashing skulls is never sucky.

Also appears they have actually fixed the Sharkmaw JP (so the slide down to the drop into Chompy’s pool doesn’t result in insta-death). It was definitely bugged at some point during the end of the previous LS content.
