Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
Several of the Aspect skills (especially the jumping ones) have severe issues with even minor lag latency. In the past, you could try to guest to a different server to reduce the latency, but now with MS system, I’m not sure how you minimize it….reload / travel back & forth to get a different /IP and hope for something better?
Thank you Anet, the maps was filled with too much immaturity, a lot of cursing and obscenities..this move was for the best..
Except now that immaturity must now drip into other zones…..at least it was contained.
Seriously, this is a good change. Maybe some actual Champ runs will be set up in better zones now (for those that want that kind of game-play). There was a semi-champ train running in Cursed Shore last night (yes, I know it has been a thing since MS released).
Why do they have to be on the same release schedule as the NA/EU servers?….the game is NOT identical nor are the servers in any way linked (from what I understand).
I’m thinking the “Rebuild Lions Arch” portion of this festival event(s) is going to be used to “correct” some of the material oversupply in the market. Unsure exactly how it will work and what effect (if any) it will have on the materials market.
What I meant was, if you’re having fun then you don’t (or at least I don’t) care about the rewards too much. Once I’m reward driven it means I’m not really having that much fun anymore.
+1….Kudos!
If it’s all about the “carrots”, is it actually still “a game” for you?
Lol no it’s not. It’s always easier to just swipe your credit card if your time has any value at all. Sure, some if the content may be fun but it is so unrewarding that the time investment isn’t worth it.
The game offers both options….one being easier than another in no way FORCES anyone to choose one over the other.
At least this game presents options….
Actually……. they said the Megaserver has nothing to do with the costs, and that the cost difference is negligible.
I’d have to see that quote rather than just take your word for it, but if it’s true, I’d be interested in seeing the monthly average of server zones before and after the MS change (not that Anet would ever disclose such information). I would be highly surprised if it didn’t cut the number by at least half (if not more).
Granted, I’m sure all of those are VMs created on a host farm of some sort, but I find it difficult to believe that the reduction would not translate into cost savings (even if only for future hardware lease reduction). I’m in no way implying this was the MAJOR reason for the MS change, but it has to be reason even if it only translates to the entire game being easier to manage and maintain.
No. It would be too easily abused in game, just like dueling in PvE, therefore we can’t have it.
Wow….dig up any dead horses lately….(and do you wanna use my club or are you just gonna use the shovel)?
While the thought of an integrated VoIP communication is valid, the SUPPORT costs and issues would be horrific. Everything from voice lag to cursing would spawn endless issues the just don’t have to deal with now. Anyone that want voice communications can get it from a variety of 3rd party apps and services.
But it not being in the game is obviously a conspiracy to prevent PvE dueling….
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
There are arguments for having it and not having it (even in specific game modes), but I think the Devs took most of this into consideration when they decided for it NOT to be a thing. Now the suggestion of enemies blocking has some tactical merit and there is obviously merit to positional blocking in PvP. But again, I think all this was taken into consideration and the Devs decided “no” to collision.
Saying GW2 should because other games do is not a reason…just a verification that those games are not this one.
lvling the elementalist isnt a problem because i play with my friend who is a guardian so he tanks everything
……you will both eventually realize there is no true TANK in this game and things will quickly go very sideways for that plan. Just letting you know.
Ele likely has higher POTENTIAL DPS but lacks long term survivability and requires FAR more tactical thought and twitch skill than the Warrior. Nobody would deny that the Ele requires more “work” to perform at a high level and an Ele is much more likely to suffer badly when a mistake is made (less forgiving of player error).
The Warrior is certainly more survivable and very forgiving of bad or “lazy” gameplay. That being said, a well played warrior can deal impressive damage and be a force to be reckoned with.
Since you are playing both of them, you can decide which gameplay you like, but at LVL 30 you are not going to get a good “feel” for both classes. Maybe take them both into PvP where you can give them both a good test run at LVL 80 specs?

Since you are already IN Divinity’s Reach (to use that pass), why would you not port to Ebonhawk and use the most conveniently organize crafting location in the game (FOR FREE!).
… is Berserker the answer to all PvE contents…?
No. It IS the answer to getting thru 90% of the content fastest, however.
There is nothing wrong with not going FULL ZERKER! if you are not pursuing optimal MIN/MAX gameplay. Keep in mind that there will be situations where other players might not appreciate your choice and will express that to you (sad fact). In truth, only Dungeon teams have a valid complaint against that choice (and then it is only REQUIRED for speed runs).
Sorry about the language mistake…..my bad.
While I do think they use 3rd party programs to identify certain posts in a timely fashion, I do not think there is any type of automated thread closure or infractions issued….a real, human moderator would review the post and react to it. As stated above, humans can certainly make mistakes.
Bigger issue is that a hacker has access to that email account……YOU NEED TO SECURE IT and consider abandoning it for ALL use.
Once you do that, you need to open a ticket (as nobody here can regain control of your account or roll it back).
WARNING: YOU ONLY GET ONE ROLLBACK. Make 100% sure your account is secure again before requesting the rollback. If the hackers keep your email open (even if you change the password) and are able to get the password changed again after the rollback, they will clean you out again and you will not be able to get your stuff back a 2nd time.

They can certainly say it’s 100% not Anet if they please….it’s entirely up to you if you believe them or not. The fact remains that the majority of the latest hacks are due to email accounts being compromised (not ANet’s responsibility). There are not THOUSANDS of players reporting hacks (like in the case of the PSN issue), so stating, “that’s what PSN said.” is really not applicable in this situation.
Now saying that, I do think ANet could reduce the number of hacked account if they simply QUIT allowing passwords to be changed by a simple email request, but I’ve expressed that concern in the past and would really just like to hear they are considering changing that policy.
I’m guessing you mentioned something in your post that is considered an violation of the posting rules? Rest assured, the forums are administered by REAL people, not an automated system (I’ve been infracted enough to be quite sure of this). Also, if you want details on WHY, you should PM the moderator, not post this here (if I’m not mistaken, challenging a moderator ruling in a public post is ALSO a violation of the forum rules (tho, asking WHY is not necessarily a challenge, I guess). I doubt a moderator will answer in this public post, however.
I’m also guessing that English might not be your first language, so there could have been some misunderstanding in what you posted that the moderator mistook for something that violated the posting rules? I’m not bashing your English (it’s quite good), but it’s easy for communications to be misunderstood in such instances. If English is your native language, then I apologize for my misunderstanding of that.
It is absolutely true that the tp destroys GW2.
You present absolutely NO proof of this and thus it is ABSOLUTELY your opinion (which you certainly have a right to). Making opinionated statements SOUND like a fact does not actually make them one. PROVE that it destroys the game….and someone will listen to your claims.
You comparing D3s TP with GW2s TP actually PROVES you really don’t understand how either of them works or how both games treats high end equipment. D3s GOLD TP was FINE until the RL$ TP opened…..that’s what made the game deteriorate. D3 also had no way to allow in-game gold to purchase items on the RL$ TP (sans illegal gold/equipment selling). The comparison is simply not logical and trying to do so brings all your statements into question.

This event is to give China access to sprockets and quartz, to even it out with US/EU for future updates.
Next update will probably have toxic spores and whatever I am missing.
You state that as if you KNOW it for a fact. Has Anet in fact announced any content release for the CN game? Exactly why would a their content need these advanced crafting materials so soon after release?
I’m not saying it’s not possible, just that I don’t see Anet introducing these areas into a game that has not been on-line for even a month. I could be totally wrong, but I think your assumption that CN servers get the same updates as we do is fully incorrect.
BLTP is simply a tool. Trying to make it something else is a personal issue nobody but you (and possibly your therapist) can address.
Recipes are needed for both the Insignia AND the actual armor piece to be crafted. These can be quite expensive (especially for light armor…. as Eles are the only class considered viable with full Celestial gear).
Note that the content out this Tuesday will likely provide an alternative to obtaining the recipes AND plentiful Quartz (tho the Charged crystals are still time gated 1/day). I would suggest holding off purchasing any recipes until after Tuesday’s update.
Ascended trinkets already have stats that INCLUDE an Exotic Jewel (usually the same type as the base stats). There are a few that have a Jewel of a slightly different stat (the trinkets with 4 stats bonuses).
I think there is also an options check box to turn on a swear filter for the chat window….or am I crazy?
I think the OP is stating that he doesn’t get the box and the weapon appears RED when he hovers over it to add the upgrade item. The only time I have ever seen something like that is if the weapon is not high enough level to take the upgrade (obviously, if it has orbs IN it, that is unlikely to be the case).
Wait, are you trying to put JEWELS in a weapon? You can’t do that (can only add jewels to trinkets with an upgrade slot).
Also, if the weapon is in a protected container or in the bank, you would likely get that kind of behavior.
You would need everyone to know it. Tons of buffs and high burst characters. So I bet chances are low
I’m willing to bet they have programmed in limits so that he will ALWAYS survive into stage 2 with some minimum HP value. Just guessing, but I’m pretty sure if was possible to kill him before step 2, some Guild or other organized group would have pulled it off and advertised it as a “thing”.
This is a great post….while I was aware of the power of the Zooka #5 skill, I was unaware it can be halted and put on quick CD. I’ve got to think that is not a “workin gas intended” feature of that skill…..but I’ll certainly try it.

Some of the post in this place are just jaw-dropping…..
There does not seem to be a limit to what entitled players WANT…..
Basically its not as dangerous as you seem to think, log in attempts are an extremely common event.
I know it can be common, but that’s a definite sign you need to CHANGE your email address…likely the prefix as it is now going to be spammed to every major provider out there.
If you had security footage of someone trying to pick the lock on your front door every night, would you be concerned?
I have proof my email account was accessed by someone other than me and yet the providers records showed no access but mine. I have no idea how that’s possible, but either the provider (and their site security) is totally incompetent or they are flat out doctoring the records to cover up security breaches. It’s an old (no longer in use) AT&T account (but run by a larger provider that starts with a Y and ends in OO).
Your ‘perceived’ increase in account hacks is just that…perceived, not factual. If an actual DB breach had occurred, these forums would have 1000 times more “account hacked!”, threads.
Use a NEW proxy email address and enable 2 step authentication on both the email account and your GW2 account.
I’m curious if all these hacks are having passwords changed via a Support Ticket or are hey logging in here and changing the password (or is the password NOT being changed)?
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Performance with an Intel Graphics Chip is going to be pretty bad.
It is possible, but spoofed email addresses are pretty easy to spot and any decent spam detection system would (or should) immediately kick out spoofed emails. I would certainly hope Anet Support does something like that (but you could have a point).
On a side note, your theory would not be difficult to test….

It’s kind of ironic that everyone who comes here saying they’re hacked always says they have super-tight security, unique emails, and 47-character randomly-generated passwords.
Meanwhile I’ve been using the same email address for everything since 2009 and I haven’t even had a phishing mail.
I said the same thing until my email go hacked and my account got compromised. Granted, mine was an old email account (I think it’s been in use since 2002) and it was using a password that I have used for other sites since before then. I have LONG since quit using that password, but neglected to go back and change that email account password and that was my error.
Overall, I think it’s less about good email provider security than whether or not any websites you ever used that email address at (and possibly the same password) have ever been compromised (and their user DB stolen and sold). Obviously 2 step authentication on both the email associated with our GW2 account AND the GW2 account itself should lock down your account (but still use unique and strong passwords at every site). Strong means longer than 12 characters (46 character passwords are insane overkill).

If Support determines it was actual verbal abuse, they might get a temp ban of some sort. Not reporting the insulting person is absolutely guaranteed to do nothing…
I’d say attaching a screenshot of the conversation in the chat window is much more likely to get some action.
Other point is that one of the components requires MULTIPLEs of an item and you don’t have enough available…..there is a #/# under the item in the discovery window and if it is RED you don’t have enough of that item.
I was about to say that the OP may be stretching the term “organized” to the point of snapping…..
The world boss events are on a specific timer:
This is the most commonly used one: http://dulfy.net/2014/04/23/event-timer/
Welcome to Tyria!
I think the HoM webpage lists EXACTLLY what you earn when linking accounts (even what you have not attained yet) and as I recall, all you need is a GW1 character name to view them.
Per above, OP should consider Toughness/Vitality as your last resort protection from taking a big hit. AVOIDING damage thru every possible method is primary defense with Toughness & Vitality being your secondary method (when the primary method fails for whatever reason).
Thief Short-bow is far from useless, but I’m not sure it should be your main weapon. It has plenty of utility uses, but it’s base damage is lacking any serious punch.
One other thing is that I’m thinking it is the only class/weapon combo that does not have any specific traits that improve it’s use directly. Not sure why that is.
As mentioned above, this is usually ALWAYS my Thief’s 2nd weapon.

Yeah, I’m not about to start associating any sort of collection or completionist tendencies certain player have to END GAME content. That is NOT a thing.
So…Gimme, Gimme, Gimme is a perfectly acceptable request now?
I would still like an explanation or some kind of reasoning exactly WHY this change was done. I really hate when they change such a core mechanic without even mentioning it in any update notes.
They did mention that the Daily and Monthly Achievements were being merged together. They just didn’t mention the details of numbers available nor how they rotated.
I have yet to not be able to get a Daily, but I do dislike the days when only 5 PvEs pop,
Finding 5 Events everyday takes the most effort, IMO (but it’s not a BAD daily, just time consuming and sometimes frustrating). If completing a Renown Heart counted for an Event, I would have no complaints at all about the current system.

Nah, just go for expansions and drop the cash-shop. If it is expansion content that means we need to pay for it and then Anet can drop there cash-shop or at lease for 99% putting all those items in the game in stead of in a cash-shop. It would simply be better for the quality of the game. If it’s expansion-like they would need to keep focusing on the cash-shop for money with all the negative side-effects we have seen for over a year now.
Why would you even think they would consider dropping the Gem Store? No matter which direction the content takes, why would they just close a source of revenue? Some of the comments made on these forums just baffle me at times….. Do some of you just not grasp that beyond providing an entertainment product, this is a BUSINESS?
No company divulges details of their revenue sources and CERTAINLY not details of their expenses unless it is publicly traded (which NCSoft is) and then only to stockholders (obviously, those documents are easily obtainable). Even then they do everything they can to keep competitors from learning too much about their internal finances. There is a level of legal disclosure they must make (to maintain public trade status), but rest assured, no company will EVER divulge more information they are legally obliged to.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Beyond the above, I don’t think there is anything you can do.
If LadyofLight does not respond (or responds with, “Tough luck, thanks for the gold!”) image capture the response and tell LadyofLight that if they don’t email the money back your are going to open a scamming ticket up against them (not sure that will work, but they may not want to risk a perma-ban for 172 gold…but that is a nice chunk of cheddar for most players). If they still refuse or do not respond, open the ticket (might not get your gold back, but you can try to get them banned for being less than honest).
Hell, maybe offer to give them some of the gold if they send it back….(finders fee)?
Your assumption that your are no longer compromised is NOT valid just because your stuff is not gone.

Because if they change your password, YOU loose access to try and stop them from hacking for as long as it takes to open a new ticket with Support. Yes, keyloggers are very rare and I doubted it but from the original post it sounded suspicious.
Does the password change emails have a ticket # associated with it (if not, are you sure it’s valid and not a phishing email)? Getting phishing emails for popular games is certainly possible (even to a new email address).
If the password change email is valid and from Anet Support, reply to it and TELL Support to quit changing the password from this ticket as it’s a hacker requesting them (that’s my best guess at what is happening if the change emails are legit).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
With that kind of activity, why in the WORLD would you not ditch that email and get another? Especially if she uses that address for any RL finanical or Retail website associations….VERY dangerous (even with the 2 step authentication turned on).
Are you using the internet at your friends house (or are you on some sort of WAN / Wireless Cell network via your laptop)?
Is it on the same provider as you and in the same general geographic location?
If either (or both) of the above are true, then the IP is likely coming from the same range (and thus does not require authentication).
Note that if you have a smartphone, PLEASE enable the Google Authentication on it as if it is NOT enabled, it can actually be used against you if your account gets hacked.

I get the implication that you think they somehow obtained your new address from ANet, but how would you explain them being able to obtain the new email password? I certainly HOPE it isn’t the same as your GW2 account password (which would be the only password Anet servers would have to give the hakcers).
The above simple fact shoots down any speculation that somehow a security issue on Anet’s side led to the compromise of your email account (again). As much of a stretch as it seems, I would begin to suspect a keylogger (but anyone with any security experience knows those are very few and far between and are quite easy to detect).
On a side note, if you set up a PROXY email at the account and use that for login / association with GW2, the hackers are MUCH less likely to figure out that is what is needed to log in and also they must SEND from that PROXY to successfully make a password change request.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
It might be important to figure out how your account was compromised. If it was thru you email being hacked, you might want to address that….
The answer is, a true min/max have no limits.
If you plan to do high level fractals then get some agony infusions is nice, otherwise I recommend getting the infusions from the WvW NPC, there you find “cheap” +5 stats infusions with +1% damage to guards or -1% damage from guards.
I agree the the slot is very useful for AR in Fractals, but otherwise the bonus is very small considering the price….but if you’ve geared up all your toons and have nothing else to spend your laurels on, then go for it.
The latest ones (updated about a month ago….?) seemed to improve my performance (Geforce 660) quite a bit. Especially zoning into areas (after the first initial game load….that’s still pretty long). I think I get a bit better FPS in crowded areas as well.
