Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
My bad….I certainly recall the Festival patch changed this functionality in some way….guess I’m going senile.
You must enter the Borderlands of YOUR Server……
Sorry, gotta call BS on both those claims….trees give logs, cinnamon, walnuts and hidden bundles (rarely)……it’s possible THOSE have those items when opened, but wiki states they only contain gemstones. Never gotten Pepper or Bay Leaves (or any other herb) from trees that I can ever recall. I log every tree I see on the min-map since Beta.
Low level ones can give amber as well.

I skip the consumables….tired them and they overall save about a minute of fighting (mostly in the last 2 big battles).
Don’t need a Main…..Play ’em all!
I’m always LVL 4 on the final (LVL 10) mission and level to 5 when it completes. The secret is stacking power so even your glancing blows cause some damage…..and you will simply dominate the lower level areas.
Seriously, the damage required is NOT that high to tag a World Boss….some of you are exaggerating the amount of damage needed to get credit. If you actually ATTACK the boss with some skills rather than auto attack with 1 constantly, you just MIGHT do enough damage.
Now if you are in full Condition Damage mode, I can see this being an issue for some players. Obtaining better equipment (Exotic) is NOT difficult in this game so why would anyone be using “drop” equipment? If you are not yet LVL 80, then Zerging these World Bosses is going to be an issue….run EotM to 80, get some better equipment (or alternate equipment) and then this will not be an issue.

I’m for something similar to the death penalty in GW1 but not for any major financial penalty (tho the removal of the repair costs DID take away the major reason to NOT die). Maybe WP costs should be doubled if you are dead? Not sure how that would translate to 5-man team areas…..

Why the watchwork-thing-a-ma-bob? Why does Hard Mode need to have some entry fee?
Just make Hard Mode a button on the Map to let a LVL 80 enter any Zone in Hard Mode. (like HM in GW1 used to work). Note that this will DOUBLE the number of active zones for Anet…..(which makes sense since they just consolidated all of them wiht MegaSever……hmmmm).
Everything scaled up to +80, Champions everywhere, Re-explore maps in Hard Mode….etc.
The computing power needed to drastically (or even slightly) improve enemy AI is astronomical even if the programming was as easy as typing, “better AI”….. Every enemy doing a dozen (or more) additional checks and subroutines is NOT free.

Not sure if this is troll thread…..is this a serious question?
People still do not doge, roll, whatever – they stand in one place, which does not work with the mechanics in this game.
This.
Simply surviving in an Open World Zone does not equate to actually learning the proper use of mechanics in the game to be genuinely useful in combat. I just shake my head at some of the clueless players I see wandering around Orr these days…..mostly while I rez them.
Certainly always seemed to be a Champ level enemy to me. Not sure about the scaling as I’ve never taken her on with more than half a dozen others in the area.
I’ve soloed her on every character I have….her patterns make her very predictable and her high HP just make the fight with her longish.
Now if they have changed her with some recent patches…..(it’s been a month or so since I took her on).
being curious about something is not the same as having any right to know anything about it.
This.
Asking for some insight from the Dev team is acceptable (but does not require them to answer). Acting like the company OWES you an answer is not acceptable (I’m not stating the OP was doing this….but the general attitude leans that way).
Then Sophos is not free.
Of course it isn’t. You get what you pay for.
Microsoft’s free AV is plenty good for anyone that has a decently secured router (and it is much less obtrusive to Windows than any 3rd party product).
You state the email was changed…..do you mean just the password or did you change the email account associated with GW2. If the later, did ANY information concerning the new email account ever get associated with the old account (did you set up email forwarding or send any email TO the new account, etc.). If ANY evidence of the new email address was ever sent to or saved at the old address, the hacker likely has the new email address as well. Hopefully, a different password was used…..
Keep in mind that even if you change the password on an web based email account, a hacker can keep the window open and STILL have access to the email account without ever having to log in with the new password (depends on the email provider and how they programmed the web interface pages). In most cases it will eventually time out and force the new log in, but scripts can be used to maintain “activity” on the page so the time out gets extended for a LONG time (potentially much longer than you would think possible).
A keylogger is possible, but those are extremely rare these days and most AV programs would find them very quickly.
It should also be stated that if a hacker has (or had) control of an email account that was used for other sites (potentially financial or retail ones), your GW2 account being hacked might be the least of your worries…..

From my interpitation, the answer to this is still up in the air and Anet has likely not finalized how they want to release it.
I guess they could tell if your account logged in during the LS content release and do it just as stated (if you logged in then, you get it for free, otherwise $2.50 USD). Not sure if that is something they can technically do or not (you would think they could).
I would like some additional LVL 80 zones. Kryta and Ascalon need them badly to round out areas to roam @ LVL 80.
Also, I would like to see some possible instanced zones (possible 5-man content) that connect the existing zones that are higher level and more challenging to traverse (with some possible rewards for using those “shortcuts”). Similar to some of the connecting zones in GW1 GWEN maps.
I suspect that Anet has something similar to GW1 HARD MODE in mind as well. My thoughts are that fine tuning the MegaServer system is the precursor to this in terms of consolidating active Map Zones as adding something similar to GW1 Hard Mode would likely double the needed active Zones. Just some speculation as to how they may be able to add “End Game” content within available resources.

I have never understood those player that seem to be PROUD about never financially supporting this game and then want their opinions to be taken into consideration. Makes absolutely no sense that Anet would listen to your requests.
I don’t have an issue with the financial model changing course to pay for content (expansions, etc.), but being PROUD about never putting a dime into the game beyond the original purchase is mind boggling to me.

this scenario was why I liked having gold in the bank vs. on my characters.
turns out when you have access to all your gold, you tend to make this mistake less often.
sorry it happened to you.Just create a bank guild, use the guild bank as your personal savings account.
Just remember that it can’t hold soul or account bound items and it doesn’t move servers if you do.
Nor will that gold EVER be rolled back when a hack occurs.
Take away the ability buy black lion keys from Black lion Company.
You want them to remove the potentially most profitable item in the Gem Store? Sure….They’ll get right on that.
Only have them as rare drops.
This would not be a change.
Change the content in the chestas so that they ALAWYS contain something useful (Like makeover/harstyle kits, boosts, ticket scraps etc – not like box-o-fun, single-use tonics etc)…
I have no problems with them adjusting the rewards, but what one person considers useful another considers junk. I’m pretty sure Anet would argue they currently ALWAYS contain something “useful”.
I never buy them. And the VERY few drops that I have got of them have given me mostly junk… I’ve had 3 tickets scraps and i have been a frequent player since release.
Also make it impossible to farm them by starting new characters over and over again – it’s being abused. Take them away as personal story reward.
How is this being abused? How does anyone farming BL keys effect your game in the least? VERY few items (and they are VERY VERY rare) that come out of BL chests can be sold on the TP. To be honest, the only reason I occasionally farm keys is that I have 100+ chests in my bank and I’m not going to buy keys for mostly RNG junk….but I will sink some of my game time in to earning them.
Gambling.
Gambler’s remorse more like it.
The solution to your problem is to buy more BL Keys. That’s the only guaranteed way to beat RNG.
….or L2F (learn to farm) keys.
Not gonna happen (or at least I hope it’s not). This would cause a bit of a player revolt from well established, long term GW fans. NO SUBSCRIPTION fee means just that (at least from my perspective).
I get that many new players are coming from subscription model games to play GW, but this game model is based around getting everything you NEED for free (after purchasing the game) and then paying extra for the things you WANT. It’s pretty simple and does not need changing so it’s more like what you are used to playing.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I think the general consensus is to promote refined cloth (or other materials) in the Mystic Flusher as the best way to turn Skill Points into Gold. Claims of 3 – 6 gold per SP are common.
Be wary of on-line instructions that “recommend” BLTP markets. Best case, they can be woefully outdated and worst case, the author is trying to “manipulate” those markets with their suggestions.

Convenience item. Not sure how that is a hard concept to grasp.
Before these tools were Account bound, I never considered purchasing these gathering tools, but have reconsidered since I can pass them around to any of my characters.

Yes…by all means MOAR BEARZ…..(w/ Bows).
There are certain ingredients you can only get via Karma (usually from Heart vendors in the Open World). The guide was offering the option of recipes that require some, all or none of those ingredients.
NOTE: All of those Karma ingredients are now available from vendors at the start of the Lab Cliffs area during the 4 Winds Festival. Keeps you from having to travel all over the Map to get them.
SoL…..sorry.

it was all discovery btw
Did you craft any ascended materials or just discover?
Never seen the point in caring how much gold another player has (or tells you they have). As long as you have enough for what you need, what does it matter?
<- Owner of 8 Jennah’s mini
Me Three…..that’s why I asked.
You get a guaranteed BL key at the end of the LVL 10 personal story mission. Takes about 20 minutes of rushing to get it (Human, Guardian / Warrior, Commoner).
Other races, combos can also get the key (at end of LVL 10 personal story mission), but generally take longer.
Warrior – Very forgiving (survivable) and a wide variety of weapon (skill) choices.
Guardian – Quite survivable and can provide some group support that the Warrior lacks.
Ranger – Very Survivable in most of the game but can teach poor game-play habits (would not recommend as a starting character).
They did not nerf it….per se. They extended the crafting on most crafts to 500 and the same level XP is spread over the 0-500 range. That means only a bit more than 7 levels is available when crafting to 400.
Currently, Chef and Jeweler is kind of nerfed, however (as they still only allow 0-400 advancement).
necro is the worst class for dungeons right now, I would focus on your warrior now.
You are assuming the OP WANTS to do Dungeons……
You can play them all…..I have one of each class and don’t really have a “main”. There is nothing wrong with that.
Does that fall into the category of Greater Cannibalism?
Midnight Ice is a good (cheap) substitute for Abyss as is Icing for Celestial.
All the Midnight X dyes will show their base color on “light” material areas (and Abyss will appear dark grey there).
……..
If you have Land+No Stacking Sigil and Water+Stacking Sigil and build in water, your stacks will remain intact upon leaving the water.
Didn’t they fix this “bug” recently…..I don’t think it works this way any longer (you loose the stacks when leaving water now). Pretty sure I heard this and tired it to verify.
I’d need to go take a look at what I have…..it’s been quite a while since I logged into GW1. I’m sure I have some duplicates you can have Check for me in game most evenings and early morning US CDT. Send me an in-game mail and I’ll get back to you.
Why did they even bother with giving everyone the same mini?
Can you toss her into the Mystic Forge?
If he is using a keyboard for motion….good luck. I use a Logitech G13 gamepad (I would absolutely SUCK at trying to move with WASD keys).
I’m partial to a darker gold colors so I often go with Dijon. Antique Gold gives a good sheen on metallic materials. Swamp Grass is also a darker gold color that works well on some cloth and leather materials.
I’m toying with Dwayna for the traited regen -> condi remove on ele.
A big part of gw2 healing is still blasting water fields, which does not (afaik) scale with your healing power. That is why I went with utility, which does not scale with anything anyway (good tip when having below-average equip in pretty much any MMO :O)
The Healing of the “Blasting” player does scales the area heal (leap finisher scales the personal heal).
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Blast_Finisher
WATER FIELD BLAST FINISHER = 1320 + 0.2 * HEALING POWER
It was mentioned once, but I’ll mention it again. Hearts were added late in beta as a way to coax players to areas where events where taking place. They aren’t quests, they aren’t meant to be quests. They just a way to slow you down for a moment.
They also added them to increase the requirements for area completion as before adding the hearts, most areas could be run thru and completed in a matter of minutes. I recently cleared all 3 Orr areas (no Hearts) on a character and it took less time than Queensdale.
There are more than just the 2 camps (Zerk, Non-Zerk) here…..there are also the Lazy players, Unskilled (possibly just ignorant) players and higher skilled players among both those camps…..
I do agree this issue is more about WHY you are playing and how much time you have to devote to playing. As the game stands, Zerker is just more efficient at reaching the goal but may not be challenging or fun for some players. I’ve seen discrimination in both directions (tho the non-Zerker one is almost always pure spite and unreasonable).
There have been numerous posts on, “Let us do SOMETHING with these tickets if we don’t want to Gauntlet”, but no response from Anet. I doubt they would add anything until the Festival is over (and then not likely as they didn’t give any options for them last year).
Nope….Sophos is best (but not available for personal use).
Most accounts are now hacked by hackers getting the GW2 account password changed….not it being guessed (or key logged). Anet Support will change a password without question if it comes from your associated email account (that has been hacked).
It is likely your email is in some way blocking the Support responses. Check junk mail. After you submit a ticket you should get an automated, “here is your ticket #” response very soon.
