Only Support can do that and it sounds like you have already been in touch with them. Update your ticket (reply to the email) and make that request. I’m pretty sure that they normally lock the account as soon as they realize an actual compromise has happened.

If the OP will consider ALL the possible points of failure in the cause for his lag, he may realize that just assuming it’s the LAST point that MUST be the problem is not that intelligent.

If Anet’s server cause constant lag for every player (as would be the case if the Servers were just “bad”), this game would have never survived the first month. Your assumption of where the problem lies is the actual problem here.

P.S. If you think the title is misleading, I suggest “Account Hacked, Use Authenticators” as I would like to see anyone else in the future avoid this issue. I have since added an authenticator and resecured all my emails. I recommend this to EVERYONE who has not done it yet. I found activity from my email all over China and Japan and have since blocked these connections/changed passwords/and added an authenticator to my GW2 account. Please everyone do the same!

You should DEFINITELY change your associated email account as they have HALF your log in credentials for GW2 (and possibly other sites) just by knowing the email account. I would also suggest discontinuing the use of that account (especially for any financial or retail sites you visit regularly or save your CC info on). Better safe than sorry.

Mistakes happen in software. When the issue gets resolved, I’m sure there will be a way to submit a ticket to try and recover your losses. Be patient and don’t go postal over something you have no control over.

There is nothing wrong with the answer, “no”, from Support when it is warranted. I don’t disagree that some additional training in being more courtious may be in order, but to claim the Support currently being provided is not “decent” is an exaggeration. I’ve dealt with Support numerous times (over half a dozen) and have never felt they were discourteous or rude in any way.

I’m not saying incidents like that do not happen, but to blanked label the support as BAD due to a few incidents is unfair.

The OP is obviously NOT an native English speaker (or at least I hope not), so I’m quite confused exactly how it could be determined that the Agent was being rude when it may simply be a communication misunderstanding. Also, it’s quite possible that the Agent themselves is not a native English speaker, so that could exacerbate the issue. It’s quite easy to take a translation or wording of a foreign language the wrong way and can be difficult to be “polite” when you struggle with the basic language usage.

Despite that, EACH and EVERY ticket I have had with Support is followed up with a Survey (that includes comments) to rate the Support. I would say that provides a built in venue to voice your displeasure with the Support provided. They ARE seeking feedback (how that feedback is used or analyzed may be part of this issue).

If you dispute the decision / answer support provided to you, there is a thread (the over 3 days old thread) on this forum that you can list your ticket an grievance in and I’m sure Gaile will take a look at the specifics and assist if possible.

That’s a LVL 60+ trait. Master tier opens at LVL 60 now.

Is it possible you did the mission BEFORE LVL 60 (and the Master trait level was still locked)?

I would think that shouldn’t matter, but maybe that is what Mr. Vaughn was meaning (not that he created the character before the patch). Maybe you have to have the tier unlocked before you can unlock traits for that tier?

You are just imagining things.

That’s possible, but there are several specific locations in JPs (more than one) that I will miss EVERY time if I keep the move camera button held down and yet I will make 9 out of 10 times is I release the camera button. I mentioned it to several players having the same difficulty and they noticed the difference as well (all finished the JP soon afterwards).

While it’s certainly possible, TRYING to play this game without learning proper movement skills is a recipe for disaster in higher level combat. WANTING to play that way is just asking to be frustrated in numerous ways.

You can certainly find a class that does not melee, but kiting, dodging and constant movement is what will keep you alive (you cannot TANK for any extended period of time).

PvP skins you can no longer obtain are in the wardrobe because some people did obtain them before the patch (and they do have access to using them from the wardrobe now).

The fact remains that there currently are some skins that simply cannot be obtained.

The OP is correct that there is no decent HEALING builds worth running in this game.

What the OP does not seem to understand is that this was a design choice to eliminate the “Looking 4 Healer” messages in chat…..good riddance (IMO).

Since dedicated Healers are not needed, there is no need for a “decent” dedicated healing build and nobody at Anet ever acknowledged that the lack of such a role was in anyway something that needs to be fixed (or added). The OPs insistence that the role is broken is wrong….it does not exist (for a good reason).

I would say that the current status of the Forge is exactly that. Not sure if it was intended, but the range of what you can get out from tossing in 4 LVL 80 items is certainly “wider” than it was before the patch.

All I’m saying is that the assumption that this IS in fact a bug and MUST be fixed is just that (an assumption). Would be nice to hear from the Devs on the issue, however.

Tehcnially, the Wurm is killing itself (reflection of damage from FEEDBACK), but the bug does need to be fixed.

One world boss being bugged is not the end of the world and a huge game breaking exploit. I’m sure they will look into it, but that is not the kind of issue that will get fixed with an immediate patch…..it will likely get rolled out when they do the next update.

Events that get bugged can only be “fixed” (not meaning fix the actual issue that caused the bug) by the map resetting. This only happens when ALL players leave the map and the map gets regenerated when the first player enters the newly generated map. This MUST happen after every new patch is released.

The MegaServer system will tend to keep the maps full, so the maps will not regenerate and this can present an issue that Anet needs to address with the MS system. Obviously they need to figure out what causes these events / hearts to bug and fix that, but in the mean time, they need to come up with a plan to somehow “retire” older (or bugged) maps to minimize this sort of issue.

Keep in mind this map reset is also when the resource nodes randomize their location and again this type of map “reset” MUST happen when players get a code update (of ANY kind).

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Celestial items require a specific recipe for each item (beyond the insignia). You have to get the recipe, use it and then you can craft the item without discovery.

The WORSE news is that the only way to obtain these recipes was from the 4 Winds event (that no longer exists).

The even WORSE news is that you CAN buy them from the BLTP….but currently the cheapest one is over 10g with the most expensive one about 30g (Celestial Exalted). The whole set (for light armor) will run you over 75g (yes, just for the recipes).

I suggest you hold on the insignia and hope they bring back the 4 Winds event soon.

I’d suggest searching for the Service manual on line if possible and studying the illustrations and steps for getting inside (some are horrible, others can be very helpful). Laptops can be tricky to take apart (especially the first time). Removing the plastic trim pieces without breaking them is usually the biggest pain in getting inside. Once inside be careful of flexible PCB cables and their connectors as they can be tricky as well.

BTW, this is a good idea for anyone concerned with account security as a saved CC is a wide open invitation for financial havoc if you account is ever hacked.

How long has the account been active? I know there are also time restrictions on certain actions for new accounts, but I am not aware of exactly what they all are and how long the restrictions are in place.

The restrictions are in place to discourage gold sellers / farmers from using new accounts to conduct their business.

Did you actually have a support request that was handled? If not, this is a definite indication your account is being / was hacked.

Otherwise, it would definitely be considered a Support website bug.

If you got a password change request you did not make YOUR EMAIL ACCOUNT IS COMPROMISED. PERIOD. Consider that email account unusable

Change the PW on the email account immediately but be aware that in some cases, the hacker can keep your email OPEN (that they logged into with the old password) and simulate activity with a macro / script so it will NOT time out and force them to log in with the new password (i.e. changing the password on the email account does NOT prohibit continued hacker use of the account).

I would suggest that if you are aware the email account has EVER been compromised, you immediately consider the email account hacked and you should no longer use it (not for just GW2, but ESPECIALLY for anything concerning real life financial accounts or sites that you purchase from often (that likely has your CC info saved)).

Sure couldn’t hurt to submit a request (tho it may take a while to get a response).

Any chance this is a trial account (can’t recall the last time these were made available or if they are even a “thing” now)? I know trial accounts have all sorts of “restrictions” and I would imagine there would be no reason for a trial account to buy gems.

Keep in mind the security risks of a Guild Bank if your account is ever compromised (ANet will NOT restore Guild Storage). You also cannot access Guild Resources (purchased upgrades or any items stored in the Guild Bank) after a Home World Server transfer. All the upgrades and items will still be there, you just can’t get to them.

You can get an (unsalvagable) Exotic Staff for 198 Badges of Honor in WvW. You can earn that many in about an hour in EotM Zerg.

If your value of yourself and other players in this game is all based on Achievement Points and Titles, you either need to seriously adjust your values, find other players to hang out with or go find another game to play. If you actually enjoy playing the game, then do so and learn to ignore anyone that tends to brag in game.

The fact that you are “worried” about your AP score compared to others is what SHOULD worry you.

Your home world STILL matters (MS system did not change that) and is STILL tied to your Guild (and thus the Guild Bank).

Your Guild resources (and thus it’s BANK) are directly tied to your HOME Server (MegaServer system did NOT alter this fact in any way). If a player changes HOME Servers, they can no longer access the old server Guild Resources. You cannot guest back to the old server and access them either. You MUST transfer back to the old HOME Server to regain access (all your unlocked Guild purchases items in the bank still exist, but only on the original HOME Server).

Nothing changed with these facts when MegaServer was put in place.

Node spawning in the same location was a bug which people were exploiting over and over. Megaservers have fixed that.

Are you at all familiar with how nodes spawn and how the MegaServer system works? Repetitive mining of nodes with multiple characters on a single server instance was NEVER a bug at all. It may fall into the category of an “exploit” if Anet ever stated they didn’t want players to do it, but I’ve never seen any such comments.

No doubt that the ability to easily “farm” the nodes generated a higher supply of T6 materials and if Anet wanted this end, they certainly have been some what successful with this change. There are certainly ways around the change (per the suggestions above) and I seriously think the situation is just a by product of the MegaServer system itself and was possibly not even considered when planning the changes as the ability to “track” the resource nodes was never considered a “feature” of the game by the Developers. It was just a side effect of how the server based map system worked.

While a good Guild policy, it is NOT 100% protection. If one of those members get their email hacked, it would only take a simple email to change the password and disable the Mobile Authenticator.

Anet needs to change their policy regarding support request sent in by email (IMO).

Your email is likely still compromised…..change the associated email on your GW2 account and I suggest you ditch that email account before it gets used to hack something really important (like you bank or CC accounts).

When did you change your email password? Keep in mind that unless the hacker logs OUT of the web account they may still have access after you change it (greatly depends on how the mail provider has security setting on their web mail servers). I’m sure mail server eventually FORCES another log in, but I know one of mine allows you to stay logged in for up to 2 weeks (a REALLY bad security idea). The web page SHOULD force a log out if the page changes right after you change the password, but that’s a coding issue on the mail provider’s side.

I don’t use web mail a lot, so I’m not sure of big mail providers defaults on this subject, but I DO know that Exchange Servers web interface has a myrid of settings that requires periodic re-logging back in to the site. It can be inconvenient for users that use the web interface all day long, but it’s really the only way to ensure that the person viewing the content is using up to date valid credentials.

You seem to think that it’s Support’s job to investigate ALL possible translations and inferences of a name and just ASSUME that the player MUST have picked the one that didn’t violate the EULA naming rules. Even if that WAS their job (it’ not) and that assumption was TRUE (most likely NOT either), they will ban it for ANY possible violation (and the one you listed CERTAINLY falls into that category). I’ve seen plenty of names that were banned that I personally felt were a stretch to ban and that one is NOT in that group.

The other OLD topic raised the question, “why should Exotics be different than Rares?”, and I think the answer WAS that there is no promotion tier for Exotics……but, now there is. Shouldn’t this be looked into for a “new” method to potentially obtain Ascended gear? (Now that Ascended is kind of established)

According to some recent large scale tests (thread on this board), the odds of a precursor from 4 Exotics is between 0.7-0.8%. Last report he had tossed 7K worth of Exotics in the Flusher and gotten 20 precursors.

I’m guessing with the rate he is reporting it’s all LVL 80 Exotics as Rares would be a much lower chance (I could be wrong in my guess here). I think a LOT of the issue of people convinced the MF is a waste of money for Precursors were using all Rares and don’t realize how much lower the chance is for them.

OPs ISP is likely throttling the connection. Not Anet’s fault.

And who is your email provider?

Mine told me the same thing and I have PROOF (from Anet support) that a password change request came from my email. The automated “how was your support” email is what tipped me off to the whole thing (and I doubt they would send that out as part of a cover up to my account being hacked).

On the other hand, if your password was used on other web sites, they could have gotten the PW from a hack at THAT site (this is how many hacks happen).

My thought on this situation has been that they allow the original account owner (verified info) request an additional rollback (after the original) for a fee (that would deter potential exploiters). Not sure what that fee would be, but it would be a better option than “no”. shrug

You have to buy the Karma weapons to unlock the skin (of ALL the racial/faction weapons). Make sure you buy the lowest cost ones (unless you want the weapons…they are RARE). Unless you of a level to use the weapons, all you can do with them is destroy them after unlocking the skin. Note that the Pirate ones are available after the Sharkmaw Cavern Jumping Puzzle (just dropped nearly 150K karma on all of them this morning).

For personal use, you can make your own notes on where the nodes are and label this with the IP which you can get from chat using /IP.

I was farming FG today on my level 80s. Using /IP I found there were 3 shards I was being sent to. After I found the nodes on each shard, when I mapped in I could use /IP to see which I was on and use those notes.

If the shards remain the same from one day to the next that will help.

Sure you can make notes, but there is no garantee that the next time you Enter or Load into that zone it will be the same map with those noted nodes (even if you load a character you LEFT in that zone).

I has become nearly a pointless effort (especially if it is a popular zone like Frostgorge).

Only real way to help is call out nodes as you find them in Map Chat.

Per above, Engineer is a fun class and if you play an ele, you “should” be used to lots of keywork (Ele’s swap Attunements a lot and Engineers swap Kits and weapon a lot).

I think any profession can be played incompetently, especially if most of a new player’s experience is in games where they remain stationary during combat. So starting with a warrior will not necessarily help.

I most definitely agree but if you look at all the other professions, none of them systematically train you to hang back and let your built in “tank” do the dirty work. You can certainly attempt to play the entire game like this with a Ranger (I’ve seen many, many players “BearBow” their way thru the game), but LEARNING to play this way is a disservice to the player as it won’t work for other professions (or for a Ranger in high end content situations).

Now if you play a Ranger melee from the start, this will not be a big an issue, but dependency on the Pet will eventually bit you (Dungeons for example) as Pets will constantly die and leave you “tankless” and likely low on damage. Just to add, that last part has nothing to do with learning bad habits….it’s just a basic flaw of the Pet system that has to be “worked-around”.
