Your opinion is noted, but what evidence do you have that ANY content will EVER require specific equipment type? What content can you not now do with even LVL 80 Masterwork equipment? Will it be slightly more difficult or require some tactics changes than with some better (or even different spec) equipment? Possibly, but it’s certainly doable. Not being able to get into a Dungeon PUG because of your equipment is NOT the same thing as being unable to complete the content.

BiS “gearing up” is a player invented “requirement” that has NEVER been a game or content requirement. No doubt it has kept both the game and economy churning right along, but no content requires “keeping up with the Jones”.

So if all these arguments are that 2H weapons are WAY better than 2 – 1H weapons, why are we even discussing this as if it’s a major problem?

It’s already twice as easy to get the BEST Ascended weapon set…..case closed.

Not sure what you expect from a PuG in a Dungeon.

I’m not justifying the other players actions, but getting upset and attempting to seek some sort of “revenge” because you got called a name in an on-line video game is rather childish itself. Report the guy and move on.

The stats are not important as you can easily get the stats you want (crafting, WvW vendors, TP, etc.) and transmute to get the Cultural “look” (tho, I find very few of them appealing at all). They are WAY overpriced compared to what I can craft myself (or buy off the TP) so while I “get them”, I have no plans to “buy” them.

The post is appreciated, but those times are useless without a Time Zone indication.

I’m not sure why the Level of the mission would matter (sure hope anyone attempting this mission is 80), but I think his point is that bragging about your Dungeon runs by posting a video of it does not help the OP one bit….nor does your inspirational speech. How about some specific suggestions to beat the mentioned boss rather than obscure philosophy quotes and wordy “it could be you”, comments.

Wiki says you need to make sure you rush past the spider hatchlings and if Boss gets perma buffed, you need to start the mission over (no known way to get around that particular bug).

Keep in mind that the animations of each race tend to fool your senses on this matter because of the size differences of the characters.

A very short Asura appears to be zooming around while the largest Norn appears to be plodding forward and the Charr 4 legged gallop is just difficult to judge the speed. In fact they are all moving the same speed (under the identical conditions).

Most people spawn to the Lumber yard waypoint in Queens Forest (because a Champ Wasp spawns between there and the hunting lodge). Also, the Boar spawns East and North of the Hunting Lodge, so that waypoint is the closest to the actual spawn (Zerg waits on most Eastern hill just south of the waterway between Eastern Divinity Dam lake and the lake just west of Beetletun).

If you are over LVL 75, the Champ train in Frostgorge Sound is much more profitable.

I also agree that if you are just learning the game, following a Champ Zerg is not the best way to learn how to play or explore the world in general.

For making gold, your best bet is to get into good groups quickly and not be a drag on them at any point, even casual players don’t want to be held up. That’s all I have to say on the issue.

and as I have said (and other players who are better than both you and I have also said and posted videos on, that I have linked), a good ranger is hard to play but hardly a drag or a hold-up.

Problem is, any serious player that is even slightly self-obsessed with the success and efficiency of the “run” (avoiding the L33t word here) is not going to take a chance by accepting an unknown Ranger into their party…..too much of a risk.

If the “run” has places where players have to use intelligence and actively avoid damage (massive single hit Champs, large AoE spells, etc.), Rangers will always be a liability in the party because they will be dragging around a dead pet. No matter how good any single Ranger plays, a dead pet reduces the effectiveness of ALL builds to some extent. If a Ranger specs to minimize “dead pet” effect, they have to sacrifice some “pet alive” power or damage…..the Pet Mechanic in GW2 is simply a burden that Ranger have to bear at this point (I think the next patch is suppose to offer some relief….we’ll see).

If you don’t have another Character to give one of these to, you need to submit a ticket to Support and hope they let you swap one out (there have been other posts on these forums that indicate they have done this in the past).

I don’t understand this. How is Karma scarce? When has Karma ever been scarce? Karma is one of the most prevalent, and simultaneously useless currencies in the game.

karma is one of the most useful things when you decide to start working on your legendary. if you weren’t careful with it back in the days, when you could get a 100k in 1 week, you may find yourself begging for it on every corner. after the nerf it’s hard to gather the needed ammount. i for one, find myself on WvW for 3-4h a day just to gather the ammount you got previously from a daily.

i rly hope they do something about that.

The entire reason for the change was to make it semi-valuable again (and that seems to be working from the sounds of these posts). I seriously doubt any bump in Karma rewards is under consideration at this point.

BTW, they have purposely put the price at an odd value to both make server changes inconvenient AND sell a few more gems than they normally would. Also, I’m not sure any one should consider transferring servers something that is done “on a regular basis”.

You’ve got to be kidding……

The best password is 3 or 4 short yet unrelated words strung together (capitols / numbers / punctuation is not needed, but can be used) that is at LEAST 12 characters long. Passwords of 8 characters can be guessed by a standard desktop in less than a day (this includes punctuation, numbers and upper / lower case). A 12 character all lower case password takes over 3 years to guess.

It is VERY unlikely there are generic password / login issues with ANet’s servers when nobody else appears to be posting this type of issue.

EDIT: I see now where there ARE a few others reporting some similar issue, so there may BE some sort of log in bug (but it is NOT generic as I was just able to log in just fine).

If CC charges made on his account were reversed, he is SOL. NCSoft and ANet have been pretty firm on their stance on accounts where CC charges are reversed…..they are CLOSED for good.

Obviously you have not read the forum very much as a LOT of other people have this issue and a lot more threads about it , some have had it for months, others since the latest update. But its always the same type of crash.

You are exaggerating the numbers (understandable due to your frustration of the issue) as 10 or even 50 people reporting this issue is NOT a LOT. All your claims prove is that it’s very likely all of you have similar hardware and are running the same potentially bugged drivers. If +50,000 players DON’T have these kinds of issues, it can’t be a generic issue with the game software.

NOTE that I am NOT stating that it could not be some isolated portion of the code that uses a specific software call to the driver that causes the crash, but others are obviously running that portion of the code without crashes, so it stands to reason that the GW2 code itself is not bugged.

I don’t see in your post (this one anyway) where you indicate you have upgraded / downgraded your video drivers and / or the exact symptoms of the reboot (are you getting a BSOD, etc.).

Think of it as a price you pay to have twice as many upgrades and infusions on your character than 2H weapons allow.

I’d be willing to bet this is the LAST item on any priority list dealing with time-gating.

Yeah….I doubt it too, but it is possible.

Discounting whether it’s possible or not….WHY the “EFF” would you want to do this? It makes NO sense to repeatably craft items you neither need nor can make money on. I know lots of guides do this at certain stages to simplify buying the materials needed and possibly reducing the costs some (depending on the current value of the materials).

Salvaging for the Luck from multiple items is the ONLY reason I could fathom…..but you can still get that from the discover items (there are just less of them).

Ok…maybe answered my own question there…

The character with the crafting will have 2 professions (last 2 you used) in the drop down form the HERO panel crafting tab. As mentioned above, no NPC is needed to check this…just log in with all your characters and check that tab on each.

None of those are exclusive to WoW and like I mentioned, many WoW vets seem to hate the OPs idea….good enough for me.

Just because game “W” got a 64-bit client that cleared up some issues for AMD users does NOT mean a 64-bit client for GW2 will have similar results. It is SO much more complex than just churning out a client that runs 64-bit.

Did you seriously type that and believe it? Grow up.

If you are on Win 7, try this:

START > right click on Computer and select PROPERTIES
Select ADVANCED SYSTEM SETTINGS (left column)
ADVANCED tab > START UP AND RECOVERY section > press SETTINGS button
Under the SYSTEM FAILURE section, unclick the AUTOMATICALLY RESTART checkbox.
Hit Ok on the open windows to get back out.

If your system has an error it will generate the BSOD and you should now be able to read the failure before the system reboots itself. The error code may or may not provide some info that will point to the cause of the problem. A Google Search of the error code is the next step. NOTE: Be VERY careful about what you links you click on when doing a search like this as bogus websites and software utilities to “fix” these issues pop up regularly to infect your computer with adware an viruses (and Google can NEVER clean them out of search result lists fast enough).

In my (fairly vast) experience with PC hardware, most reboots like this are either memory (75%) or Power Supply (20%) related, but could certainly be a bad or corrupt driver of some sort.

I have the Logitech keypad device and it does not seem to introduce the same type of issue.

On the other hand my son does have a Belkin N52 (I think) and he DOES report massive lag issues at times……will look into that.

Only if they are using the same IP connection / ISP (which is certainly possible). Different ISPs SHOULD have different IP ranges assigned. IP address ranges are not allocated by physical geographic locations (tho they can be similar or the same if all the local ISPs are actually using the same access network).

On the other hand, if he sees IP connections that are NOT from his area, it would be safe to assume a hack attempt is being made. If that’s the case, he needs to change his GW2 email account address (as hackers have it and know it’s a valid user log in).

Do you seriously think THAT attitude will result in anyone WANTING to help you? I get your venting, but try to get it in your head that the entire game does not revolve around YOU.

How can you not realize this is an attempt to equalize the server populations via a discount incentive (to move to a lower population server). You can say it’s “STUPID” but the reasons behind the discount are technically sound and could promote a more balanced WvW competition (I doubt it will work, but it’s better than ANet doing NOTHING to spread out players to lower used servers).

Downside is low aoe in zergs, and you’re SO SLOW while running. You can bring focus but every 10-15 seconds you’re pulling it out to give swiftness then switching back.

Focus has the highest damage Phantasm (if not weapons skill PERIOD) in the game. I hope you are not swapping it out before dropping that on a semi-stationary target….

Not only will there be more people, new & old, but if one day you ever want to transfer, at least it will be cheaper to go lower.
If you start somewhere else and then in the future decide you want to try T1 for WvW, it will cost you 1800gems.

Very good point and good advice for someone starting out.

Travel to all the cities (via Lions Arch) and clear them (all Vistas, Waypoints and Points of Interest). That is worth about 10 levels (last I checked).

Then do the same for the connected starter areas. The most Experience to be had in open world zones are the Renowned Hearts, so find and complete all of them (needed to clear the zone), if you don’t want to fully complete the zones.

Crafting is also a leveling option, but I hate to even mention it.

I also do not understand why people want to rush to LVL 80 and skip the actual fun part of this game.

As for forcing broken gear, strip down to a single piece of cheap gear that you’ll just salvage when you’re done (to save on repair costs). Then throw yourself from a cliff. Preferably one near a WP. Repeat until thoroughly trashed.

Falling damage does NOT damage armor….must die from attacks. (if you are IN combat when you fall, that WILL count).

Well played Thieves are a wonder to behold (I’m closer to the wonderful dead….but trying). I can say this, if you connection is spotty (you have lag spikes often), playing a Thief will be very frustrating as precise timing is CRUCIAL to survival.

My Guardian is nearing 75 and I agree with some comments above that he can become quite boring to play but his survivability is impressive and he can certainly keep a nearby group of other players alive a lot longer as well.

If not your first character (and you have some materials saved up), you can easily level a character to 40+ via crafting for very little gold. Buying everything to LVL 76 should be less than 40g.

BTW, I’m not suggesting this as you completely loose the training and experience that comes with leveling the profession completely up. While that may not have a huge impact on using cookie cutter builds at LVL 80, it does effect your ability to modify those builds to your own playstyle (due to the lack of familiarity with other utilities, weapon sets, traits, etc.).

It depends on your OS as to where the game attempts to install.

Any installation in another folder indicates some permission issue with the user that installed the program (likely NOT a local administrator). Are you logged on as the same user that installed GW2?

Have you tried to install the client from the website? If your internet connection is decent it likely would take an overnight session, but I’d say 90% of the players install via that method (again, I didn’t even know they sold a DVD version).

The personal story competition sounds like a great idea (would actually give me a reason to finish the game).

Needing all crafting at 400 (or 500?) seems a bit of overkill.

I call BS! Again, show me where a Dev (not some blogger or game website review) has ADVERTISED this as a game “feature” intended to allow the compete purchase of a LVL 80 character. I certainly recall the exact opposite being stated in a Dev blog back in February.

You may truly believe what you are stating, but I think if you go back and look at the details, you will find you are mistaken. I’m not saying Devs have not verified that buying a LVL 80 is possible, just that they don’t endorse it as a “feature” of the game.

I get plenty of crafting and salvage items from enemies so I’m not sure what the OP is talking about.

Seriously don’t want to be mean, but I do NOT want aspects of WoW becoming parts of GW2. Sounds like some WoW vets chiming in to vote, “NO”, so that makes me relax a bit.

I find quite a few players in all level zones on Yak’s Bend. I usually play early morning and evenings and can’t remember the last time I played for more than a few minutes without running into another player. I’m currently clearing zones with a few Lvl 80s so I’m running in starter zones thru LVL70-80 areas. Lions Arch and Frostgorge are ALWAYS very populated (but not generating overflows very often).

The only REAL issue for the Ranger class is the Pet mechanic itself. Not a big deal in many situations, but full on kitten in most Dungeon situations. You entire view is from picking a group for a Dungeon….NOT what I’m talking about when I discuss PvE. To be honest, I ignore Dungeons completely (mostly because of he attitude you are displaying with your argument).

Just for the record, I DID mention that Rangers are kitten in Dungeons….if that is your only consideration for playing with one, then feel free to dismiss them, but don’t project that narrow view of the game on everyone else.
