Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
While not a definative nor numeric answer to your issues, Guesting to an NA server is very quick and simple thing to try out.
Typical Mr Johanson, or as I like to call him, ‘the seagull’…
- flies in
- squawks
- craps on you
- flies off again
I’m sure we can appreciate the dev’s have a tough job to do, but really? Prioritising the most wanted item in the game shouldn’t be THAT tough. >_<
There is word for doing the above too…..(starts with an A and the last part is an empty space and that generates an unpleasant, acrid odor).
He was simply doing EXACTLY what the community wanted….to confirm that this is still planned and YOU came in here and crapped on him for doing his job.
Support… I cant be asked to start over and throw all of my hard earned, expensive equipment down the drain! Plz lemme change my race ANet
Who is asking you to throw it away…..make a new character and your old one is still fully intact and playable.
I think the idea of a separate support login was to allow someone with a hacked account (and changed password) a way to still be able to contact support.

This seems to be a common issue and others that have posted here with this issue have reported being compensated in some manner via a Support Ticket, so give it a try.
Moral of this story: WIN KEY + L is your friend…. use it.

What will it hurt for him to log in and look?
He can collect any account bound items from mail and stick them in the bank and then delete and recreate.
I really can’t think of a reason WHY not logging in would be an advantage here.
The only REAL issue for the Ranger class is the Pet mechanic itself. Not a big deal in many situations, but full on kitten in most Dungeon situations. Pets have no method to avoid big or prolonged damage so they die and kitten the Ranger. Avoiding Rangers in general because of bad players is just ignorant.
There is also a gate in your home city that takes you to Lions Arch which in turn has gates to ALL the other starter cities (and their connected starter zones).
You can access Lions Arch from just about anywhere in the game by using the PvP or WvW icons in the upper left to enter those areas and then use a nearby gate to Lions Arch (free return to LA).
Yeah, it’s nothing compared to the Survivor title in Guild Wars 1. There you needed to get 1,337,500 exp without dying. This took WAY more than a couple of hours in a noob zone. While it was possible to game this title also, the people who did it for real really earned it.
Yea, running that boxing mini-dungeon was really hard.
Correct. That was one of the ways to game it, not the way to do it for real.
I saw the REAL way more than once. Players quitting the game when close to death was nothing I consider something to brag about nor consider honorable in the least. I’m not saying nobody did it without bailing at the first sign of trouble, but I do recall it causing me to fail more than a few missions.
This entire situation would be a moot point if those running the Champ Train would exhibit a bit if mature politeness during their runs when new or low level players are encountered. Some of the things I’ve seen n chat are just unbelievably rude and totally uncalled for.
I’ve reported a few players myself and I hope ANet bans a few to try and teach some manners.

Very well done videos. Kudos!
If the OP is asking if an NPC is ever going to SELL them (like Exotics in WvW), I highly doubt it.
I agree that the amount of Dragonite being rewarded in WvW needs some upward adjustment. There ARE JPs in WvW that can get you Empyreal (but from my understanding, it’s a lowbie hobby to keep others from reaching the chest).
No salvage on ANY items purchased form NPCs that are Green or up (that become SOULBOUND when you buy them).
Transmute with white item, then you can salvage off the upgrade.
Why would you get rid of Ascended weapons? Unless you are planning to outfit all your characters with multiple Legendary weapons, what would replace them (at least for the next year or so)?
Are they unique to the Legendary weapons, or just the same kill animations that all elemental based weapons have?
Personally, I find the idea that a single “mystic” location can generate random items AND 100% success recipes very questionable. If the prisoner Zommoros is so chaotic and random with some combinations, why do others ALWAYS work? I get it’s a game, but the 100% recipes should have been handled differently (like another NPC legendary craftsman or djini).
Ascended Armor crafting is expected to be released by year end (or shortly after). I would not suggest destroying those.
Personally, I would suggest considering one of the currently available weapon crafts that might benefit your characters.
My being a reasonably casual player
…..45 gold spent on T5 mats ……
Your assessment of what a “casual player” is comes into question when you spend 45 gold to rush your crafting to 500. Now if that was a significant portion of your total stash, then I guess you could qualify for the upper end of “casual”…..
At the moment, I kind of enjoy farming these nodes and doing various tasks in Frostgorge with several characters that I rotate in / out of the area as inventory fills up. I sort of look forward to the nodes changing as it changes the required route..
Frostgorge also offers some other activities that provide valuable rewards:
Hit Claw when he spawns (got chest 3 times yesterday and once this morning).
Tag along with Champ Train Zerg when I run across them.
Get the JP chest (usually park characters up there to wait for next reset).
Run the T6 mat notdes
Work on Dailies while doing all of the above
As mentioned above, if you are classifying what you are doing as “grind”, then you need to find something else to do (or possibly another game for a while).

I hope I’m asking a stupid question, but have you reported this in some other way than this thread? I would think an in-game report of something like this would be the best way to get ANet to look at it sooner (I don’t think ANet monitors this forum very closely….it’s mostly for players helping other players).
I think you have just proved that SSDs have NO bearing on GW2 load times….
This is not a bad idea, but there are plenty of issues that could present a problem. For one, the GW2.DAT file (I believe this is a proprietary database technology) most likely needs to be converted to 64-bit which may require content modifications or conversion.
If it IS possible for a 64-bit client to just allow memory access beyond 4GB, then that could correct some existing issues, but it is doubtful that would do ANYTHING to help general lag / communications issues across the internet.
….
But any soulbound items will become useless.
You should salvage what you can and store everything in bank (including storage bags) before deleting the character
Well that’s a lie because guardian DPS is on par with warriors.
Errr..no.
You are making the assumption that all players think the decisions are “poor” for them.
I can hardly see where the ascended mats timegating would benefit anyone.
I would only possibly consider a decision “poor” if it actually harmed my ability to play the game, not if it wasn’t the most “beneficial” for me, but I get that we may be venturing into a semantics debate now.
I don’t disagree that Anet should consider removing (or relaxing) the time gating on the Charged Crystals. The downside is all the flak they will take from players that spent 2 months outfitting toons (tho I think they already took that flak when the MF was removed without any additions).
Maybe allow 1 Charged Crystal per character per day? Possibly allow them to be sold on TP?
You have to get near the hearts with you character before they show up on the map. Here is a link to a table of zones (hypers to zone pages that have maps). Might I suggest that you DON’T use this your first time thru an area as it’s much more fun to just explore and find them yourself (my 2 cents):
* Waits for low level players in Queensdale to riot over posting this information *
Where did you get a 60% chance of success number for salvaging the inscription? I was under the impression it was a much lower percentage (like less than 1%).
Thanks, Gaile. Sorry if I came off as being snippy. I just cruise this forum a few times a day and see quite a few of these and was suggesting a solution that could save everyone some time and anxiety.
The support form asks for one, but I’ve never filled it in (or the serial # info) and I always get prompt response (tho I was never recovering an account……).

How is it Anet’s fault that someone on the internet has your email address and possibly some old passwords you’ve used for years?
Isn’t the IP authentication blocking the hacker’s attempts to access your account. I would say their end of the security is working (or the tools are there for you to secure your account….if you chose to use them).
I know for sure, that neither I nor many other players, who already received such emails will pay money in the gem shop, because it doesn’t appear to be safe at all.
Please speak for yourself.

We’re not supposed to design encounters for ANet. We’re not designers. However, I can see when a boss is interesting and when it’s not. The bosses of Dark Souls are interesting. GW2’s aren’t.
That’s not a very fair comparison simply from the fact that in those games, the Bosses fight ONE PC with a limited set of mechanics (ok Dark Souls has quite a few….but still limited to one PC) where an ANet boss has to compensate for possibly fighting SIX different classes that each have a multitude of possible mechanics and then there could be DOZENS of PCs fighting (OR just ONE).
I’m not saying what you state isn’t true, just that I’m not sure it’s even possible to make a Boss that is “intersting” and challenging for all the possible classes/builds that could exist in a GW2 encounter. I’m guessing this has been tried, whined about by players, changed in-game (to a non-interesting form) and the team may have just decided it’s a waste of resources that could be directed somewhere else.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
You are making the assumption that all players think the decisions are “poor” for them. That is not the case (or the decisions would be “poor” for ANet’s financials).
What you are really saying is that YOU and like minded players don’t like the decisions and would rather have something else. That is a perfectly valid position, but you are presenting it as a universal fact that ALL players agree on rather than the opinion of a minority group. While I have no data to backup my use of “minority”, if it were a majority, the game WOULD be doing “poor” financially and nothing I see indicates it is.
I have no problem with any players requesting and asking for something different (I would certainly not be apposed to an Expansion based content release), but going about it in such a negative manner (vilifying the content creators with every chance you get) is not very constructive and alienates both the Devs and other players.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I think if they added a few more nodes of the T6 materials to the current maps they can be harvested in, that would reduce the grind length a bit.
My bad….I was confused by the trait line and the boon VIGOR….obviously not the same thing. Sorry for the misinformation.
Thank you for the info! Guess those items must stay on alts I’m not using. Or I guess I could salvage for dark matter or toss them into the forge. My guess is salvaging exotics on average would tend to make more cash?
Tossing Exotics in the Mystic Flusher is the best way to get Precursors (I’ve been told) but from the RNG numbers I’ve seen, it’s a huge gamble.
Salvaging them would be a sure bet on some cash.
Rangers are notorious for drawing in bad players. There’s a term that floats on the forums as “wrongbow” or “bearbow” which is a ranger that has a long bow with a bear pet. This is the least amount of damage but maximum safety. There are some very good rangers, but they tend to use sword/GS and stay in melee range (however the sword has a weird root on the auto chain since day 1 and has yet to be fixed)
Rangers tend to provide little to group comps, that aren’t better provided by a different class. If you want utility, bring a mesmer. If you want support/damage break a guardian, if you want all damage bring a warrior. Eles and thieves also provide some niche utilities and damage.
Rangers offer spirits and that’s about it. The damage is mediocre at best and spirits die quickly. The healing spring is nice if a thief can blast it with sbow for group heals, however most wrongbow rangers use the healing spring 1500 away from where the rest of the group is meleeing and stacked.
Edit: also depends on what you will be focusing on game wise. If you like dungeons/PvE I HIGHLY suggest not rolling a ranger. If you stick to WvW a lot, rangers are okay. If you spvp, rangers are actually decent for off-point capping/holding.
The Ranger play you describe is no more of a joke than some of the other Class cliche’ builds that are popular around in the game. Bad players do not make the Class bad (tho you are correct that it is a very safe build in Open World PvE).
The only real Ranger issue is that Pets cannot survive in heavy hitting / heavy AoE areas (and most Dungeon & End Game content contains this type of damage).
Going for a “Tank” type build in GW2 is not very rewarding. It is doable, but the game is much more geared toward “dead enemies, can no longer hurt me”, than building to survive a long, extended battle.
Again, it can be done, but most players that go with PVT builds end up complaining that they are treated as second class players because they are not as effective as other builds. Don’t mean to be discouraging, just stating my observations.
For brand new rangers,
Been using a River Drake and keep coming back to it. Decent standard damage semi-high HP, tail-spin knockdown and a ranged Lightning Breath attack. Stack some might on ol’ Jake Dadrake and he holds his own.
Picked up a Jaguar recently and really like the stealth attacks.
Rotate in my Black Moa, Eagle and Snow Owl quite a bit. I’d love to use my Warthog, but I find the Forage skill less than useful (but he is a good scrapper otherwise).
Agree with Donari about Vitality. I usually add some via jewelry or Chest / Leg armor.
©Keep in mind that Vitality also improves your energy regeneration for dodging…..something that should become VERY important to a Thief at higher levels.[/c]
Precision becomes important if you focus your damage on Critical Hits (Crit Build). Power helps all aspects of damage (sans DoT Condition Damage).
To be quite honest, until you get your character up to LVL 35 or higher, your equipment is not that important. Don’t waste your resources fully “gearing up” a sub-LVL 80 character with higher quality gear (stick to blues and greens below LVL 80).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Can’t you trade the item to another character BEFORE you select the stats?
(not if it was soulbound before the MF removal…..so no).
If you are not tired after that, harvest Ori ores and ancient logs on all of your available toons.
Lastly, you can do the champion train farm in Frostgorge, it will be very boring though.
I’ve been combining these 2 lately and it works out pretty well. I suggest creating a personal guild (I used some laurels for commendations needed) and the guild bank so you can have a savings account. That reduces impulse buying for me.
Why do they need such a system to keep people in game when they have significant new content every 2 weeks? I’ve asked this question a lot and no-one has been able to give a satisfactory answer.
Because not everyone is interested in the new content? I never even attempted Teq nor do I intend to start doing Dungeons because of the new TA path. There are plenty of players that completely ignore the new content added every 2 weeks.
Anet fully understands that no single reason is going to keep the majority of the players playing…..so they have multiple long term goals available for just about any type of player. It’s the intelligent approach, but you seem to just be focused on what YOU want out of the game. That’s not necessarily wrong (we all want different things from our games), but refusing to see that other players may have different desires is just narrow minded and a bit selfish.
So greed then, because certainly the new content also drives gem store sales.
Why do you continue to play the game if you are so convinced that Anet is an evil greedy monster? I in no way think they are a group of benevolent saints that simply want to give us all amazing free entertainment, but I DO think they are something near the center of those 2 extremes. When Anet starts FORCING players to spend RL money to play content or progress in the game, then I may start to be a bit more cynical about their motives.
I always view everything that Anet does with a bit of suspicion (unfortunately, that’s my nature for most everything in life) and I have yet to see anything that makes me think they only in this for the money.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Can someone at ANet either fix this or at least added a sticky to this forum about this? At least have the page display the connection as (ANet forums (this site)) so it’s less likely for customers to freak out about it.
There are at least 3-5 topics per day on this issue.
I’m guessing that the best you can do at this point is make SURE you have a comment in your current ticket (the one that got your account reinstated) that emphatically states you fully dispute any claims that gold selling was performed on your account due to no disclosure of evidence of this by ANet and no other indication is available that your account was compromised or hacked.
Are you absolutely sure that you did not have a very large gold transfer (+50 g) go through your account recently? Legit (non-gold selling) large transfers are often identified by ANet as potential gold selling activity. If such a transaction exists but has not been explained to ANet, that might be why they are still convinced you were involved in a gold sale transaction.
tldr: Make sure you dispute the claims of gold selling in the existing ticket so you have something to argue about if it DOES happen again.
if you travel to Lions Arch (go to PvP or WvWvW via upper left icons and then use Asura Gate to LA), you can get an accurate read of your stats (will not be scaled in LA).
As I recall, if you hover over the actual attribute names, a fairly decent description is displayed.
Here is the wiki page for attributes: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Attributes
This should be a game feature. It’s really outrageous that they are charging for this,Low blow, ANet. Low blow.
It is a game feature. Go to any town (and even a few places in the open world) and pay less than 3 silver.
Now the price is a bit outrageous for a single use item…
