Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
You’re going to need to open another ticket, but be aware that they do not restore individual items (unless it was a mailed item and the mail got screwed up).
Going hybrid Power/Condition damage isn’t really viable.
…….
Viable for what? Very little in this game requires you to fully commit to ANY particular stat stacking or weapon set to successfully survive most aspects of the game.
Your points are all valid EXCEPT for stating something isn’t “viable”…. “not the most efficient at killing faster” is more applicable to what you really mean.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Are you absolutely sure of that?
I’m pretty sure I have done this with a white item…..as long as you select the white item STATS, the other 2 items (skin and sigil) will transfer over and you will have an account bound white level item with the skin and sigil of the original item.
You then have to transmute the with an item of new stats onto the white item (obviously with the character you were moving the item to).
If I’m missing something here, please enlighten me. Before the OP does anything, please read this wiki page: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Transmutation

…..
15-20 FPS in large zergs on medium settings under 1,300? Possible?
Zerg play FPS is far more complex than just “can the hardware handle this”…..your internet connection bandwidth and latency to the server plays a HUGE role in this answer (more in terms of skills lagging than video FPS). If you skills are lagging, the smoothest video in the world won’t help you.

Just to clarify the Transmutation items:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Transmutation
Transmutation Stone (yellow) – will combine any 2 items that are level 79 or lower (both items must be 79 or lower).
Transmutation Crystal (Silver) – Combine any 2 items where one or more of the items are level 80.
Yellow Stones are very common rewards in the game (completing zones, daily achievement rewards).
Silver Crystals are much rarer and can be gotten a few rewards (daily achievement rewards, Black Lion Chests).
The main way to get these items is purchase via Gem store. (Yellow’s cheaper than Slivers, obviously). Keeping an armor skin all the way thru leveling CAN get expenisve, but if you are smart about it, not so much.
I would suggest that you NEVER buy the Yellow stones as you will have a glut of them (if you run mutliple characters) once you reach 80 and there is no current use for them beyond transmuting less than 79 level equipment. I will admit I have bought these and regret it now (I think I have a stack of 80 or so sitting in my bank).
Sliver ones are often needed to maintain your “look” once you reach 80, but intelligent “gearing up” will minimize the number needed.
I would have cautioned you NOT to buy the skin so early, but now that you have you can either buy yellow stones as needed to keep transmuting the skin to your newer equipment as you obtain it, or temporarily put the skinned pieces in the bank until you can get yellow stones (via doing daily’s or clearing zones) to transmute them onto your new and better equipment (my suggestion).
Don’t forget to tell him how grindy the holiday event is.
The only “grindy” part is if you want to spend all you time in the Labyrinth grinding…..there is no reason too (unless you are just obsessed with the equipment….that are purely visually unique).
I went down there on a weekend and it took me about 3 hours to complete all the Boss events (the only ones you MUST be down there for). I then did a few of the easier daily’s and had the required 13 in a bit more than a week (not even really trying to complete it). The 2 short instanced story areas were all that really required much efffort at all.
If you are “grinding” for the holiday equipment, then I can’t help that you have misunderstood how ANet has changed obtaining those items from last year. They obviously now want those to be a longer term goal (you can certainly complain that the goal is WAY too long) and not anything you should be able to obtain quickly (unless you have a huge excess of gold…..something they WANT to remove from the economy anyway).
This info would be a good addition to the stickied OMG FAQ for newbies…..(that had a lot of info in it I never knew).
The problem with laptops is you are most likely stuck with an M model video chip (and processor…but that can be setup to NOT speed throttle, so it can be a non-issue). Mobile GPUs are NEVER going to be able to provide any kind of experience in GW2 that compares with a good desktop video card.
I have no idea if anyone makes a laptop with a non-mobile video chip, but if they do it’s likely at a premium price (above the $1.3K you listed) since the market is not that large. They DO make laptop workstations (for video editing, 3D CAD work, etc.) but those usually START in the multi-thousand range as they are a nitch market that is KNOWN for being able to make big bucks on industries that are used to paying too much for hardware (mostly because the software required is much more expensive than the hardware).
Same goes for “gaming” laptop rigs…they exist, just not in the price range you are talking about ($1.3K being the high end).
I think the general consensus is that in terms of comparison to damage caused by other forms of conditions, Vulnerability is not that desirable.
Didn’t they fix a rune (or maybe it was a skill effect) that put confusion on the Mesmer using it instead of the target? I seemed to recall finding out that bug the hard way…..(“Who the heck is stacking all this Confusion on me?!!!”).
If this was changed, it should have been (in my opinion). You should not be able to activate anything from a downed state.
I agree it is the best layout in the game for crafting.
As mentioned above, use invisible bags to store your weapons and realize that every time you change weapons to a 2H from 2-1H, you expose the last weapon changed out to not being protected at the merchant.
…….
but you also don’t need a target to attack a foe. Many abilities you can just use and it will register the hit as long as you are in range.
There are also lots of skills that DO require a target and getting in the habit of attacking enemies that are not targeted will frustrate you when you use one of those skills in that situation. It is BEST to target your intended target from the start but you are correct that you CAN attack untargeted foes…..a good change in my opinion.
Look at the WvW menu….I would image it would indicate who you are playing for.
I wouldn’t buy any more Ascended trinkets at the moment. Wait for Ascended Jewelry crafting to become available as the stat combo you’re after may become available then.
I wouldn’t bet on this happening very soon as these ARE available now. I’m betting Ascended armor will be out before end of year and Ascended Jewelry will follow before 2nd Quarter 2014……just speculation.
Are you absolutely sure you want this armor? I guess for an Ele it could make sense….
It’s very difficult to run ONE character and do what the OP wants (craft useful, level appropriate gear). You either need to invest some significant gold (for your level) and push your crafting up to meet your character level equipment requirements, or you need several characters (or friends / guildies) to obtain the materials needed to pump up your crafting level.
I was able to do this rather successfully by leveling up 6 characters at roughly the same time (and having each one take 2 crafts). Not all of them adventured a lot and gathered from EVERY node found. Progression was slow, (I only reached LVL 80 on any one of them back in July), but I wasn’t in a rush to hit 80 either.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
If you want to do WvW then you’d better start crafting now. Ascended gear and stat progression in general is an arms race where you don’t want to fall further behind than you already are.
……..
I tend to think this “arms race” mentality exists only in some players minds. There is no way in WvW you could ever tell (by looking or performance) that someone was using Exotics vs Ascended…. WANTING BiS is not the same as NEEDING it.
Once you get the patterns down, you can do the 3 JPs in LA and the easy one in Southsun Cove in about 10 minutes per character for a total of 4 chests. Don’t forget that the marks (along with then pebbles and nuggets) can also be used in the mystic forge for a chance at a silver doubloon. Plus some of the drops are worth a few silver and then the rest can be salvaged for essences and materials.
I do this on 4 characters and I get about 1 to 2 a day on average.
Quite honestly, as I understand it, there are much better and faster ways to just make the money you would need to buy them. shrug
The Pirate one and Ogre cave one are very simple (tho the Pirate one takes some significant time). The Troll’s End has a few very frustrating jumps compounded by horrific camera issues (my main beef with that JP). I suffer thru it once every month, but I’d likely kill myself if I tried to do it every day. Granted I am mediocre at JPs and your mileage may vary.
Off topic, but these are the kinds of things that NO ANet Dev could ever foresee being an issue……
This will certainly require a support ticket to get resolved. Note that the support ticket system has recently changed.
You will get anything that was present in your PERSONAL bank and characters at the exact time they restore from (not sure of the details of that exact time, nor do I think they will provide that information).
It will NOT roll back anything that was associated with any Guild Bank or Trading Post transactions that were pending at that time (Guild Bank and TP will be the same as before the rollback).
I think they were telling you that you should expect anything YOU had pending on the TP is most likely gone (and they cannot restore those items or gold). Anything taken from a Guild Bank cannot be restored either.
Obviously it would pump some life into the game, but keep in mind that the Devs themselves have mentioned that they feel one of the major mistakes they made with GW1 was NOT planning all the classes out when they first developed the game…..i.e. tacking on new “cool” classes to the existing game. Since each class introduced an entire new set of skills, they were soon overwhelmed trying to balance them all and I I don’t think the Devs want to repeat that mistake here. BTW, the sort of fixed that problem when they split all skills between PvE and PvP but it took quite a while and basically doubled the skills they had to manage.
I agree that a few new weapon sets per class would be a nice addition, but I’m not sure new classes are going to happen.
I do believe these are called Elite Skills in this game….BIG HITTER skills are the best that can be achieved in a game with real time combat.
Not as flashy visuals as some FF Limit Breaks (by the way, that term is just a bad JPN translantion), but FF is mostly about flashy visuals to spice up turned based combat.
Limit Breaks as they exist in the FF battle system could not work in a RT combat system. Even when FF calls it’s combat real time, it’s actually just interactive turned based.
A few of the FF games did have variations of the Limit Breaks that were only available if certain characters where in your party, wielding specific equipment and also had a Limit Break currently available to them. These were like UBER-Limit Breaks and only really useful in a major Boss fight. I’m just recalling playing some games 20+ years ago, so I’m a bit fuzzy on the details.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I’ll add my honest opinion to this:
Precursors should NEVER have been available for sale on the TP (nor should finished Legendary Weapons). Precursors (and Legendary Weapons) SHOULD be rare…..but they should NOT be sellable in any way. Account bound period.
At this point, we need to wait and see some additional details of the “crafted precursor” plans before speculating on any further fixes.
Might I suggest that you do a -repair command line startup to check and repair the DB files.
Details on how to do this are here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
So this is not the first character you used? There is really no reason to do this more than once (unless you are helping someone).
Especially as an asura where your little feet remain off the ground the whole time
This needs video before they fix it…..
Never mind….
Keep in mind the TP in-game uses http to obtain information for display, so browser security settings can cause issues. Updating Windows can certainly effect security settings from what used to work fine for your connection.
I’ve had it take up to 10 minutes before I got the emails. They obviously time out the page for security reasons, but I have no idea what the time out period is.
Are you sure he didn’t update his account to the Heroic Version recently? (you CAN do that if you want those freebie items). I don’t recall that version even being available back at the beginning of the year….I recall it came out just before the 1st year anniversary in August (but I could be wrong).
ah ok. i am slightly annoyed that i will lose my soulbound leather chestplate and my mighty bronze rifle, which cost a CRAP-TON to make, but hopefully they will sell well at the BLTC. thanks for the help guys!
How much could LVL 5 or 10 items cost to craft? You can’t even get Masterwork until LVL 15 and you couldn’t have made them soulbound if you are only LVL 6.
When you go to buy some LVL 80 Cultural armor and the set costs 120g, you can then use the term CRAP-TON…..m’kay?
You can’t sell soulbound equipment on the TP. You MAY be able to salvage it or sell it to a Merchant (but possibly not if was obtained from an NPC).

Post your ticket # in the TICKET FOR REVIEW thread at the top of this forum and maybe you can get some assistance from that route. You need to keep in mind that the issue you are reporting sounds very odd so it make take some pressure to get it looked at closer than a normal support ticket.
I opened a trouble ticket because I don’t believe TrouzzzerSnake violates the ToS……
How could a male sex organ reference NOT violate the ToS you agreed to?
If i use Engi for Roaming and Dungeons… Is it possible to stay on my weapon set or just one kit instead of switching all the time?
Yeah, from that question alone, I doubt Engi would be a good choice….you SHOULD be switching weapon kits (and want to for lots of reasons).
Well there is no standard attack in GW2…..just the Skill 1 auto-attack (that you can turn off as an auto-attack if desired). The attack sequence you describe from GW1 was one of the major changes from a conventional MMO to GW2 being more of a dynamic combat system. Being able to hit 2 keys and immediately start attacking an enemy (while having NO awareness of the battlefield itself) is one of the main complaints leveled at MMOs in general. With that and the TAB key, you can pretty much participate in a battle blindfolded (not that you would be overly efficient or dominating….you WOULD land some damage). I guess instead of hitting “SPACE” you should be hitting “1”….I’m sure you noticed that jumping up an down doesn’t do much damage to an enemy (just yourself).
On a side note, they have recently (since 10/15) changed how the targeting prioritizes enemies and the “target closest enemy” button (I think that’s the “C” command you are speaking of) was also prioritizes when it should NOT have been. I know the Devs have acknowledged this error, but I don’t think they have corrected it yet. MANY PvP / WvW players are quite upset at this goof and I can understand why. I have no idea if this is part of your confusion or not, but it kind of sounds like it might be.
Also, you need to keep in mind you can’t equip 2 of the exact same Ascended items together (unlike lower tiers of Jewelry).
Wait….is that just the trinkets? Can you have 2 of the same rings?
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
It’s kind of a fun trip to travel overland from Black Citadel as well…
I know lots of players that have played since release and have never been to Ebonhawke (you only go there via personal story if you join the Vigil).
Keep in mind that if you are just wanting PvP (or WvWvW) you can transfer servers for free by deleting all characters.
You also need to look up the info on PvP /WvW limitations applied to guesting as I’m pretty sure guesting does not allow for WvW play when guesting (for obvious reasons).
I think Anet should just fix the reward system because it’s ridiculous to farm forever then when you finally get an exotic drop it’s crap that’s only worth 97 silver it’s getting very out of hand and making it harder and harder for me to enjoy the game I really hope arena net reads this and changes it because it gets very frustrating
If drops were the ONLY method to obtain exotics, I would tend to agree with you, but it is certainly NOT the only method and ANet has provided multiple routes and sources to obtain them.
Keep in mind I am NOT talking about NAMED exotics that are purely cosmetic additions to the stats available to the Exotic tier. Those SHOULD be kept exclusive to some extent.
Obtaining precursors are another discussion and I have always felt they should NEVER have been allowed on the Trading Post as they are an anomaly on the TP that I think compromises the entire TP system (if nothing more than giving critics of the TP system a valid “this is broken!!” single talking point)
Been in Frostgorge alot lately doing T6 gathering, JP chest, Champ Train (usually less than a full circuit with each character) and Claw (when he shows up while I’m farming) with 5 Characters I have gotten to LVL 80 in the past few months. I’ve had Cobalt and Mojo drop from Claw and gotten a handful of exotics that were useful during that time.
I tossed a lot of items in the Mystic Flusher during he Scarlet Invasions and got 2 Imyrldyeen and a TON of Rare equipment I’ve used to gear most of my new LVL 80s.
Nothing spectacular, but I’m not really trying to hardcore farm either. I figure if I don’t go looking for a Precursor, one might find me (not really ready to even think about a Legendary yet anyway). BTW, I’ve NEVER used any MF equipment or buffs beyond some medium level food and Guild banners on Champ Train route. I currently have just reached 63% MF (so I’m not overly farming that either).
I’m actually kind of surprised one of the “Secret Luck Stat” conspiracy theorists haven’t shown up in here yet telling everyone to delete their characters and keep making new ones until you get a “lucky” one….

….. Though the drunk skritt may kick your but.
“YOU RAN FROM SKRITT!!!”
(makes me chuckle every time)
On topic: Why MUST you have this one recipe to continue leveling cooking? Just because you are following a guide does not mean it’s the only way to level a craft….
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
If your complaint is that it’s “different” and costs more to learn how to make any single type of Acceded weapon, I guess that is valid, but since it is currently the highest tier you can craft, why exactly is “different” not to be expected? EVERYTHING is a bit different at this tier so why not the recipes required?
You do only have to by the stat recipe once to apply it to ANY weapon that character can craft.
Keep in mind that while cooking it is often VERY easy to forget you already discovered some ingredient or recipe needed to make a new discovery. Cooking can be very confusing as it doesn’t follow the typical crafting pattern of the other crafts.
If you are sure you have the ingredients and proper level for an item and can’t discover it, it is likely already in the recipe list…..
No it is not.
You DO need to do a bit of research on working on the Trading Post however. If you are not going to craft, you should STILL gather resource nodes you come across as the raw materials can be sold on the Trading Post for a decent income. You will also most likely be using the TP to gear up your characters once you reach 80 (I would not suggest buying any equipment other than jewelry until you reach LVL 80).
Couldn’t the SLAYER Achievement numbers shed some light on who is killing the most here? I know the MF numbers have changed over that period of time, but someone with 20 times more kills than another should certainly have more exotic drops…..
You found the point in the story where you CAN actually change orders.
If you don’t progress, I’m guessing if you go with someone doing the Vigil portion, you can change back (I think).
I have seen this on other characters, but when entering / exiting swimming with a skill on CD (same basic issue as the skills change at the enter / exit underwater). I don’t actually swap skills much in the field (as I guess a majority of players do not).
How will they know they should hate her without that experience?
I think it’s a very proper introduction to the story line.
I had this happen when the mails first went out. I opened a ticket and they sent me another mail. There is an “issue” with what quote that was in the update announcement. What was actually sent out was the amount of Luck needed to raise anyone from 0% to 20%…..not to INCREASE Luck by 20%. I don’t recall the actual value they sent me but I was certainly over 20% when I used it, so I technically got what the update specified.
I’m guessing that this long after the mails were sent out, you are going to have to put up quite a stink with Support to get them to review some records and PROVE you didn’t get the mail that had the free Luck in it.
