I agree that the community assumption that this a “Dungeon” release is not valid. I expect a lot of QQing from those that have made that assumption when the content releases….
I am basing this on the fact that the word DUNGEON does not appear in any of the announcement information I have seen.
No matter what this content actually turns out to be, I’m not sure that it being permanent is part of the plan….I already miss my old Kessex Hills zone and want it back at some point (tho, for continuity sake, it should have some “scarring” left). I guess it’s possible to leave open the Tower and “reclaim” the rest of the zone to near it’s original status, but I for one do NOT want Kessex Hills to remain as it is now indefinitely.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I think they did this before with the Tequatl Rising update, my guess is that they don’t want to spoil it and wants us to experience it first in-game.
Correct.
And that is a well thought decision I should say.
Players will have finished the content by then . I’d say at that point it’s more of a review than a preview, kind of pointless. On the upside, fits well with the patch theme.. pointless!
Those that rush to finish the content in less than 24 hours most likely don’t need the preview in any case. The entire game does not revolve around hardcore “rush” players.
Things that can cause lag that are NOT directly associated with your PC:
There have been KNOWN issues with # 3 above when EU ISPs are connecting to US Servers (don’t know details, but I’ve seen the traceroute reports…..there is obviously a bad switch / route that caused massive lags and disconnect).

So is anything actually happening guys or is ArenaNet quite happy to just let some of its paying customers have their accounts disappear forever because your “email authenticator” provides security from even the owner of the account? Great job, guys.
All evidence points to this being an issue with a “feature” in the Yahoo Mail system, not an issue with Arena Net’s Authentication system. You are ranting to the wrong internet gods.
If you want a ranged class that is accepted in Dungeons then Mesmer IS your best bet.
(I’m guessing Dungeons as that is the only place that getting “kicked” from a party matters in the least).
Soloing Champs requires that you learn how to NOT GET HIT (at least with their BIG damage attacks). All classes can do it but some have some unique abilities that make it easier or take less effort.
Your build, utility skills and knowledge of the specific Champ (and what it can throw at you) are also very important.
Politeness aside, the question is, “Do these mobs do significant damage to me or can I ignore their attacks long enough to get this player on their feet?”
If that answer is yes….kill first, rez later. Best thing to do is ALMOST kill a few (switch targets before you kill them) and if the downed guy isn’t an idiot, he should be trying to Rally from the ALMOST dead’s you left them.
The normal response for a rez is TY.
Whatever you do, make some Mystic Salvage kits. They cost a little bit up front, but they are worth it.
…….. Did the only time they did that (Wintersday 2012) really not sell that well?
Not how well they sell, but that they sell a lot more BL keys to those who are soon parted from their money….
250 spore samples AND 5g (to purchase).
(Tried to) Solo the Champ Marauder in N Wayfarer this morning…..I called out in MAP chat a few times and waited a few minutes, but nobody ever showed up, (it was before 7AM Central US time) so I thought “what the heck, I’ll give it a shot”.
Got him down to less than 10% (took better than 10 minutes) and I then apparently got him outside his “comfort zone” and he slowly turned and walked back to the totem while regenerating all health……ARRRRRGGGHHH!!!!!!
(yeah, my fault for not being more careful and staying closer to the totem).

Check for all the ones that have been added. Off the top of my head:
Most of these post end up being the Chantry one (I thin it’s the ONLY instanced area that has a PoI in it and it does NOT show up on the main map of Bloodtide Coast).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
My recollection is that they have stated ARMOR crafting to 500 will be introduced by the end of the year. I have not seen ANY comment on COOKING or JEWELER other than they do plan to increase them to 500. I would be surprised if those 2 are done before New Years (but increased by end of February).
I think with anything other than a full condition build, (healing, survivability….) you can get what you are looking for out of armor and runes. I would keep trinkets (jewelry) and weapons full berserker to boost your DPS output. So as Rapsody said above all ascended berserker weapons start with Zojja.
As a side note, getting your crafter to 500 is the worst part. Once you reach that getting the mats to craft the ascended weapons come pretty easy.
As for Empyreal Fragments, try parking alts at the jumping puzzles in Caledon Forrest. You get on average 7-9 per chest. I have 6 alts that I try to cycle through each day (Morgan’s Leap, Spekk’s Laboratory and Spelunker’s Delve). Once you get proficient at them you can do all three in about 10 mins per character if you leave them parked at one of them.
Lions Arch has 3 jumping puzzles that I think are easier than the Caledon ones. Trolls End can be frustrating at a few points, but I guess any of the JPs can become cake if you do them often enough.
I’d love a grand three-way …..
Don’t we all?
I’ve stated this many times in other posts on lore and the Living Story updates.
ANet CANNOT write the LS on the assumption that the player has completed the main game (Dragon encounter in Orr) because many, many players have characters that have NEVER even been in Orr much less finished the main story quest. (EX: I have 9 characters and NONE of them have completed the final story quest and I have played since launch (with the exception of about 2-3 months I took a break).
This fact greatly limits what forward moving story lines can be presented to ALL players. The content has to be side-story without contradiction or spoilers dealing with the main plot line. If you look at all the LS content you will realize what I am stating is 100% true.
I have no idea what the solution may be (or if there is one), but the story arcs that most hardcore players (and some casual players) want will not happen as long as this story “limitation” is being held onto by the Devs. I’m neither saying it is a good thing (to maintain new player / slow player main quest line intact) or bad (short sticking those that HAVE finished the story), but that this explains most of the LS shortfall.
If you learn how to properly use Spear # 3, underwater combat is cake for a Thief….. I very rarely take any damage and can take down Champs solo without even breaking a sweat (it takes a bit of time, but all Champs do when soloing them).
A blocking skill that responds with tons of melee damage and has no CD (can easily avoid while auto-attacking to regain initiative). Very OP.
Underwater combat could use some work, but I enjoy it in moderation. I really have no sympathy for anyone that says they don’t know what their underwater skills are. (I HATE this saying): Learn 2 Play

One post from Anet about this? That’s all? Do they only have 3 people working for them or something?
Seriously, Anet customer service/tech support sucks.
You seriously think posting this helps you get better support sooner? I get the feeling you may have eaten a good bit of “added” ingredients in your food if you treat people like this in real life…. Might want to step back and evaluate the best manner to try and obtain better service in the future.
On topic, this is likely NOT an issue ANet should even be TRYING to solve….NOTHING in a game can disconnect your system from the internet. It is a router / wireless adapter / driver issue on YOUR end. Other players here will certainly be willing to assist in isolating and trying to solve the problem, but the fact that others are sure no issues exist with a cable connection indicates this is in no way a GW2 software issue (tho very high network traffic when in very crowded zones COULD cause the failure to trigger).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
The myriad of “ULTRA LOW FPS AFTER LAST UPDATE!!!” threads need to have “reseat video card” as first solution to try…..
…..
Does the game come with stupidity insurance?
Technically, no (you is screwed). Still, putting in a ticket can’t hurt.

Don’t want to get into the placing blame for this issue, but keep in mind that the only option Customer Service will have to revert this is a full account rollback and they reserve those for compromised (hacked) accounts. The skin cannot simply be “replaced” (that’s their story and they have been sticking to it for over a year).
you get the first 20 levels for free, it evens out.
Note that the way the scroll works, this is only applicable to NEW characters. There needs to be a way to "transform’ those scrolls into +20 levels / skill point scrolls (but they are obviously using them as bait to sell character slots…..they gotta make the rent).
Since they just started selling an item in the gem store that allows you to transfer a Legendary between same account characters (via a kind of convoluted process), what you want is not going to happen (tho they HAVE given you an option to DO what you want….it just costs gems to do it).
It’s Account Bound (and obviously Soulbound on Use as it’s Exotic).
They won’t do this because they want you to take as long as possible to craft the ascended gear. Gear progression is their illusion of content that’s supposed to keep you in the game.
Have you considered how the servers stay turned on? Think on it.
The guy asked about Legendary and nobody mentioned the Precursor requirement?
THAT is the limiting factor by about a 100 miles. I suggest you don’t even think about a Legendary weapon until you find a Precursor (will save you lots of wasted time and money).
Never buy ANY equipment sans Jewelry pre-80 is my suggestion. It is not needed to level. Check all green drops for use and salvage everything up to about LVL 65 (selling mats on TP if not using them for crafting).
Save karma and gold for level 80 gear. You will thank me later.
…..say i have tons of small claws but need tiny claws instead,
go to the forge and do a demotion from T2 to T1.
Why go to the forge….Trading Post already exists….
Oh….you are hoping to put in 10 T2 and get 100 T1 out…..not gonna happen.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Doesnt seem like a great way to level any longer.
I think that was an intentional side effect of the crafting increase changes.
I’m confused at the “…. ranged attacks. Which apparently Guild Wars 2 kinda discourages…”, bit. All my characters have pretty viable ranged options, often more than one and I use all of them quite a bit. (Ok, maybe not my Guardian…..)
Certainly Melee is more powerful, but shouldn’t it be? (Since there is much more risk in melee conflict).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Trait how you want and bring Flesh Golem….
If that’s your first character (LVL 40) then 15 gold isn’t bad at all.
I wouldn’t waste time worrying about the Monthly Achievment as doing the Daily every day (or at least 3 times a week) should get you pretty closed to Monthly completion by the 3rd week (or earlier). Might want to keep an eye on it and put some effort into it by week 4 if not completed yet, but there is NO reason to rush getting it completed.
Champ farming in Frostgorge is much better than Queensdale, but you need to be at LEAST LVL 70 to venture into that zone (you could be 60 if you are partied with some LVL 80s that know you are under leveled and don’t mind rezing you).
Not sure about the World Events as the only one I do regularlly is Claw of Jormag (in Frostgorge while I’m Champ Training and collecting T6 mats).
Don’t buy anything at LVL 33…..just look at any Green item that drops and if it’s better than what you have on …. use it.
Salvage all other Blue & Green items (for the luck consumables). This strategy will change as you approach LVL 80, but is solid for leveling up. If you choose to craft, this is a good source of materials and if you DON’T craft, selling materials on the Trading Post is solid income. If you craft, you MAY be able to craft a few items you can use, but this is tough to do with a single character (unless you are willing to spend money on materials…not suggested during level up).
Buying gear before you reach LVL 80 is a waste of funds (not needed and you will soon out level it). You may check at karma vendors (renowned hearts you complete) out in the Open World for Jewelry as that will NEVER drop from enemies.
May consider buying RARE (YELLOW) weapons at LVL 40 & 60 from cultural weapon vendors (for karma) in main cities, but keep in mind you cannot salvage these items (but you can transmute them to keep the “look” on better weapons you later find).
If you find yourself with a equipment that is 15 levels below your current level, consider buying a GREEN item off the Trading Post (BLUE item would save you a bit of coin, but not much). Read up on putting in buy orders on the TP (NEVER buy for the offered sale price unless the difference to the highest buy order is very close).
Save money and Karma…..you will thank me when you reach 80 and NEED those resources to actually “gear up”.
TIP: Do Daily Achievements EVERY day (if possible) and save the Laurels til you reach 80. If you do those, you will collect Laurels and almost surely get Monthly Achievements (check this when the end of the month approaches to make sure you complete them). You will soon start getting Achievement chests that hold lots of good stuff you can use in all areas of the game.

I think the Candy Corn items will be added to another NPC or the cobb guy is permanent. The fact that they put a CC node in your home instance certainly indicates the rewards were designed to be a long term goal for those that are not rich enough to buy the CC up front.
It appears that Anet has 2 goals here:
This is likely to be the approach to Wintersday items this year as well.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I can’t get around your obtuseness about this if you don’t understand the gist of what I’m saying.
There is no “you can only run this content if you have XYZ gear” thing going on in this game.
That’s a blatant untruth, unless you erroneously consider minipets and vanity skins non-content.
I’m confused. Other than the final Halloween instance, which requires the candy corn mini, what content is there that you can’t do without a mini pet or a specific weapon skin?
I admit I’m not an expert on this game but minis are one of the things I’m most interested in so I would have thought I’d have heard about it if they now unlock new activities.
The minipets themselves are content. Everything you can have in your inventory is content. Every pixel, every sound, it’s all content.
So now we are down to semantics of the word, “CONTENT” and not the actual concept trying to be pointed out? I.E. That specific items in the game are not NEEDED to actually PLAY the game. The personal choice to pursue these items to whatever extent is 100% on the player.
I seem to recall the Halloween Events were going to be available until at least Nov 5th (maybe it was the 11th?). I agree that they are growing tiresome, but this new content may be just the ticket to take our minds off of it….
I would say all the releases during these last few months of 2013 (US Holiday Seasons) will be prone to exceptions to the normal release every 2 weeks.

^^ That’s what I have when looking at GW2.DAT properties ^^
Open a ticket with support. Nobody here can help you, but this issue has come up before and from solution reports posted here, Customer Support was able to resolve them acceptably.
I’ve heard the Warrior condition builds are pretty strong…but I’ve also heard they may be targets for the nerf hammer soon. I’ve run a hybrid condition / critical build on my Warrior over the past several months (mostly because I didn’t focus my gearing up effort like I should have when I reached 80) and am considering going full Condition Damage (but need to figure out how to get my hands on Exotic Rabid gear without busting my bank).
All the classes can put up a viable condition build in PvE…..WvW is another story (that I am not qualified to tell you).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Well the WvW option is out since I never play on world vs world and I have only just started to do explore mode on dungeons so is there alternative I could find from karma vendors or the market?
Not exactly true. Some WvW items can be obtained with BADGES and these are awarded in Achievement Chests you can get from purely playing PvE. I had 1500 Badges saved up from Achievement Chests when I reached LVL 80 on a few toons and those Badges got me some cheap Exotic gear and a wide variety of skins from the WvW vendors.
An Engi in full Cleric will lay down some MASSIVE healing…..
“you lose out” isn’t acceptable. Its a design flaw.
It’s a perfectly acceptable answer when the item you are talking about has NO bearing on being able to play the game. You need to step back and get some overall perspective on what you are ranting about.
I’m not saying that there is potential in some of these situations for market gouging to exist, but none of the items you are ranting about are NEEDED to progress in the game. Maybe ANet does need to look into the potential pricing issues, but not because ANY player is entitled to a cheaper weapon skin.
I think the fact that they altered Kessex Peak zone 2 weeks before telling us WHY is an encouraging sign.
Countered by the kind of obvious “mysterious benefactor” shtick….
I’ll wait and see before I get too excited or disappointed. Some of the recent updates have given me some decent entertainment value, but I think that anyone expecting more than a Syfy movie plot is looking for deep story in the wrong game.
DO NOT reverse the CC charge if you ever want to play an NCSoft game again.
Fair Warning.
You can also store gold with the TP using the opposite trick (put in a buy order for Dusk @ ##g).
Guild Bank:
STASH = 2500 influence total (50 storage)
TROVE = 20000 influence more (100 storage)
CAVE = 30000 influence more (100 storage)
1000 influence letter costs 2g or 8 Laurels (have to buy 2 @ 16 laurels)
I spent a month of daily’s to get 50 (reusable) storage.
Keep in mind that all these external storage methods are NOT considered attached to your account by ANet so a rollback (after an account hack) does NOT revert guild banks or TP held items / gold.
I’m flipping these, why don’t you just pay the high price? I invested a considerable percentage of my gold into this asset.
It would be extremely unfair to me and my fellow speculators should Arenanet change the supply IN ANY WAY.
Nobody is taking anything you currently have away from you. If you feel this change is possible….dump your stock of these NOW….that is part of “flipping”.
I’m sure your other speculators cringed when they saw your post….vampires should not be protesting at the blood bank….shut up and drink in the shadows.
…..
that said, I do agree something should be done about them. we should be able to craft silver doubloons from copper doubloons the same way gold doubloons are made.
I agree, but keep in mind when they “turn on” this recipe, Copper Doubloon prices will SKYROCKET (at least until Silver Doubloon prices reach a normal level).
He’s not a thief….he’s a casino operator.
For every 1 high roller he pays, he smiles at a 1000 suckers….
The big thing I don’t get is getting legendaries are supposed to be “end game” material…. So why to get end game material do I need to make another character level them up to 21-30 and then park them at a JP when they are clearly not in “end game” mode. All other mats for legendaries can be obtained reliably by the level 80 characters that are farming for them…. So why should juggernaut be any different?
Edit: It’s not so much that I think they are too rare but the steps you have to take say if you have nothing but 80s just to get these without paying ridiculous market prices is absurd.
This is a COMPLETELY valid point and should be addressed by the most logical method …. add in the missing recipe to craft Silver Doubloons. It’s simple, logical and would end this debate entirely.
NOW for the moaning that people will make when the price drops down to the other Doubloon levels…..
EDIT: If they add in this recipe, will Copper Doubloons price skyrocket? Hmmmm….
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I was mainly wondering if the Obelisk Shard is going to be a standard place of power that’s only good for the one skill point (and for fusing Quartz and anything else that might use the fusing mechanic later) or if it will “refresh” itself each day and be a source of an extra skill point once per account per day. Could be a good way to get new characters to get some skill points aside from Scrolls of Knowledge.
New characters have no need for other sources of skill points and unless they come up with some additional end game items that need them I don’ think many LVL 80s are short on skill points either. Redundant.
This could be a racial skill that all races now have access to (doesn’t that keep it from being usable in PvP and WvW?)
……
Because its nothing similar to gw1 elite skills obtaining? GW1 elites were class skills, which bosses used and you cap it after defeating boss, this is uniclass skill that you get thru achivement grind.
You obviously don’t remember the “old school” GW1 where you had to INTERRUPT the skill with a CAP SIGNET to obtain the skill….now that was a challenge (but made Elite Stances nearly impossible to obtain).
