Any chance you account has been restored previously? They will ONLY do a rollback ONE time.
Open the properties of the original email message and look at the internet header info. It will be obvious if the origin is being spoofed or not.
The fact that it is not trying to direct you to a website (or maybe it is and that is not evident) does lend legitimacy, but they could just be phishing for account names.
I would tend to think any invite would come through in-game mail (simply telling you that you have been selected and that the EotM is now available in the WvW drop down), not via this type of notification. Anet would KNOW who is in your Guild already.

If you added memory and started getting crashes it should be obvious that that the DIMMs you added (at least one of them) are defective (no matter what any testing tells you). There is a slight chance that it is either not properly seated or one of the DIMM sockets on the MB (that was not previously in use) is causing the problem.
Per above, adding memory to 8GB and running a 32-bit OS is a wasted effort. (but a defective DIMM could still cause stability issues).
I’ve use tons of different cases over the past 5 years (built over 3 dozen workstations systems for our offices) and the best built cases (by far) for the money are currently Corsiar chassis. Cannot recommend them enough. Just my 2 cents.
The OPs theory is not supported by the popularity of Zerker equipment used by players.
DoT will always be inferior to Spike DPS for the myriad of reasons listed above. That’s why Zerkers are the norm.
You should now be at least LVL 10 and should be ok in almost all the starter areas (sans the highest level areas of them).
Next, you may want to start clearing the 5 starter areas (just outside the starter cities). This takes much longer than the cities and adds Skill Point Challenges and the Renown Hearts to the list. Note that the Renown Hearts will yield the best Experience Point boosts to level you so you may want to pursue them first.
May want to visit the area outside the bank in LA to see if any helpful guild has put down any buff banners you can take advantage of as well (these mostly get put down during peak server times). As mentioned above, do not forget to gather at every node you see..

I agree that an alternate and semi-guaranteed source of T6 cloth / leather needs to be added to the game. If they altered the salvage rates for LVL 78+ equipment to provide a more reliable source of T6 materials, that might help.
How are you connecting to the internet and is your connection being shared by others that may be using lots of bandwidth (streaming video, large file transfers, etc.)?
Just a heads up on a comment I saw here. Zendesk is a very reputable support website provider (my company has used them for years). As to the security of your data and being paranoid of putting it in to a website form….who is actually hosting ANY website these days?
If you want to make SURE your account(s) get perma-banned just continue with your reverse charge plan…..
Those are legit questions, but are issues EVERY player has to deal with. If you choose to gear up X characters, you will have to deal with those issues X times longer.
I think it’s pretty obvious that Anets intentions here are to make this process a long term goal and not a rush to gear up, but this effects EVERY player and the idea that it’s being put in place to “punish” or “discourage” Alt players is utter nonsense. Again, give me a good explanation as to WHY they would not want anyone to play multiple characters? Every “crime” must have a plausible motive.
Players that kill Champs out of rotation are certainly NOT breaking any rules (but if they know there is a train running in the area, it is rather rude and selfish)
It appears in this case as in many others that those running in the train are the ones being rude and selfish because they think all the champs in their train are theirs and theirs alone.
I agree 100%. Getting all POed over a situation like this is pointless and childish. Now if it is a known smaller group (or individual) that is intentionally moving ahead of the train on a continual basis, I can see the Train riders getting peeved, but name calling and threats are not the way to handle the situation (to be honest, I’m not sure what can be done).
I don’t think any reasonable person in the train thinks they OWN the champs, but I’m not sure exactly what the person “champ stealing” has to gain (if they ARE doing it to just antagonize and grief the train participants) by not participating in the train. Rewards are NOT diminished and are very obviously attained in a more time efficient manner. There certainly no reason to assume anyone would be “champ stealing” intentionally the first time it happens and the solution is to invite the player via MAP chat to join the train rather than go full out psycho verbal attack on them. Many players narrow mindedly assume everyone knows about Champ Trains and certainly in Queensdale one should assume a new player just MIGHT be unaware of the situation.
This really boils down to the arrogance and maturity level of the player involved. Far too many internet users have grown up in an environment where there are no immediate consequences for being rude and obnoxious, so they feel it’s acceptable to act that way 24/7. Very sad for us all. (note how I refrained from waving my cane and screaming, “You little cyber-whipper-snappers get off of my lawn!!!”)

Have you tried changing your UI display size and see if this might clear up the problem (not fix it, but allow a temporary workaround)?
Not to nit-pick, but this should be in the bugs forum (can’t see this being an account based issue).

Despite the bluntness (by his own words) of the previous post, please keep the following in mind.
Giving out multiple blanket account rollbacks for a compromised account is something that could easily be abused by less than honest players (or gold sellers). Way to easy to “allow” someone to hack your account, move the gold / items, get a rollback and then send the “lost” stuff back. There is absolutely NO way ANet could police this possible exploit, so they simply have a policy to allow one “gimme”.
Sever is important for WvW and if you want RP community.
Success in GW2 requires some potential for DPS to be successful, but much more importantly you need to AVOID DPS from incoming damage sources. Mobility, positioning, dodging, blocking, etc. are ALL very important to being a successful player (much more so than most other MMOs). Building your character with only the highest possible DPS in mind will still fall short in some areas if you don’t know how (or are unable to) intelligently avoid hard hitting damage sources.
From the Backpiece table on this page: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mystic_Forge/Equipment#Backpieces
Items that list 1 Vial of Condensed Mists Essence as ingredient 1 with the exception of:
Those 2 once had Magic Find as a stat and since that was taken out in a previous patch, these now allow you to select from among nearly ALL (if not ALL) available stats (including those that cannot be obtained any other way). In other words, these are the 2 that are most desired and WILL still require some sort of FotM participation to obtain.
Whine and Cheese fest over this has already begun in numerous other threads on this issue.

You can solo a Champ with any profession if you build and gear properly.
A more important question is why you would want a character designed to solo Champs? That is such a nitch specialty with much lower rewards (for the same period of time) than just running with a Zerg (if rewards are what you are after).
No you don’t. What got replaced WAS the vial (to 250 Bloodstone Dust). From update notes:
Items
Additional recipes for ascended back-item pieces have been added to the Mystic Forge for players who don’t play the fractals.
All of the ascended back-item pieces that required 1 Vial of Condensed Mists Essence can now be forged with Bloodstone Dust instead.
A total of eight recipes have been added.
Queensdale on my server (Yak’s Bend) regularly has overflows on the weekends (peak times) and I’ve NEVER been in Divinity’s Reach and not seen multiple players near the bank area (even at 4AM CST US).
Queensdale is Champ Train central for sub-80 level characters, so I don’t know what to tell you.
…..
Forcing me to logon doesn’t get them any more money, selling things in the TP that I want gets them money.
First, looking at it as if someone is FORCING you might be the problem here. If you feel that way, maybe you should seriously consider moving on to another form of entertainment. I’m not trying to be rude or trite with that suggestion, but am seriously trying to be helpful. If you are no longer enjoying what you are doing, you should ask yourself why you are doing it.
Next, if you DON’T log into the game, what are ANet’s chances your will spend RL money in the Gem Store? No matter WHAT items they offer or how you feel about them, if you are NOT logged in, they have ZERO chance of you spending money in the Gem Store (sans buying a Gem Card, obviously). It’s pretty a pretty simple economic concept (and I am in no way suggesting you have to like it, but that’s the economic model the game is based on).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I regularly sell of my spare butter on TP. You do realize THAT is an option here….just buy the eggs and butter.
Why do you need a bunch of them anyway? Blindly following a guide that tells you to craft 50 of the same item to raise your crafting isn’t too bright when cooking has literally HUNDREDS of discoveries to make. The wiki page lists EVERY possible recipe to discover by crafting LEVEL.
I agree. The notes mentioned 8 recipes, but did not LIST them. Seeing how I have never done FotM, I have no knowledge of the recipes that are being altered. Can some Dev throw us a bone and list the recipes in full?
Nevermind….I found them on the wiki. But a confirmation would be nice (especially which 2 of the 10 do NOT work with Bloodstone dust).

You should be aware that repetitively Pinging a server on the internet for any length of time WILL be detected and likely assumed to be a DoS attack (tho a very lame one). Proceed at your own risk.
Players that kill Champs out of rotation are certainly NOT breaking any rules (but if they know there is a train running in the area, it is rather rude and selfish) and the the idea of reporting players for doing this is simply idiotic. I would HOPE it’s is more of a scare tactic than an actual threat from the player suggesting it (but there are some REALLY obtuse thinkers roaming around Tyria these days….)

I sure hope you did not attempt a charge back….that will NOT turn out well for your account status…..
The fact that 8 characters can gather 8 times more materials in a day than 1?
Like most normal human beings I find it rather hard to play more than one character at any time.
No matter how many alts I have, I can only collect about the same amount of material as you can, with the possible exception of the bosses and even those boxes usually amount to 1 green and 2 blues, with a bit of dragonite. They don’t exactly spawn often in prime time either. Maybe twice per night each.
Seriously, alts in this game are not an advantage, quite the other way around if you want to get them geared up.
You are so caught up in making your, “Alt players are persecuted”, case that you are unable to even admit even a single case where Alt players may have an advantage…..so sad.
It’s pretty simple math. I CAN collect more raw materials with 8 characters than someone playing 1 character during a single node respawn period (it will certainly take me 8 times longer, but that is NOT to point being made). That fact is not going to change because you refuse to admit there just MIGHT be some aspect of this game where an ALT player might have an advantage over a MAIN player. I’m certainly not talking about ALL materials required for Ascended or any time-gated REFINING, but just general harvested nodes in open world zones.
The point I made is, I can’t gather 8x more material than anyone else despite maybe having 8 characters. (I have 6). Ascended gear depends heavily on walking the maps, outright farming the nodes for basic mats. It’s time dependent and has nothing to do with how many characters a player has.
I’m not sure you understand the concept of how material nodes are harvested or res-spawn when you post comments like the above…. I can ABSOLUTELY harvest more materials in a given respawn period with more characters and I’m not sure how you can argue otherwise.
“You put the time to level up your alts, you put the time to gear up them as well.”
Wait, wait, wait. That is the awful gear grind philosophy. Players should be able to enjoy the game without endlessly gearing up characters.
So you are seriously implying that you should be able to generate multiple LVL 80 characters with top level gear in the SAME time as someone does for ONE character?
How is that even rational or logical?
If you are being serious, keep in mind you CAN enjoy the game without gearing up ANY characters….most all content CAN be completed using only drops.
If you were being sarcastic, note that many irrational, crazy ideas being posted here and forgive me for not recognizing it.

I doubt anyone KNOWS how or what sets off the “red flags” in this area and Anet is certainly not telling. I’d just put a notation in the message (some sort of proof if you DO get banned). I’d suggest splitting it up into several smaller amounts, but I’m not sure several emails of significant gold (25g+) might not be a higher “red flag” criteria than one big lump sum…..impossible to know.
I do know that I’ve seen more than a few players posting here that they regularly send multiple hundred gold emails and have never had a problem (whether you believe them is another story).
Isn’t the new patch due out tomorrow?
Yak’s Bend is still pretty well populated (I think last I looked it’s listed as HIGH or VERY HIGH when guesting or transferring). I rarely go into areas and find them deserted (tho you can go to some remote areas and not see any other players for some time). We are currently 3rd in NA-SILVER WvW league play (so solidly in the mid field).
Might want to check the wiki for EXACTLY what name is of the item you want to craft before buying the recipe…..(so you don’t buy the WRONG one).
They have the fortnightly content updates to keep people playing.
[/quote]
I agree they help with that, but different players have very different tastes. I know I ignore about 1 in every 4 of these releases (while I continue to log in for material gathering and the dailies).
Those who have divided their gametime to level up alts would be able to get their first character with ascende armor alot faster than those who have spent their time playing only one.
Based on what?
The fact that 8 characters can gather 8 times more materials in a day than 1? Possibly one of the reasons some material refinement has a 1 per day limit.
……
I am so discouraged from making and playing an alt that getting bored of GW2 will probably come quicker than most MMO’s I’ve played.
I’m unsure why some players appear to WANT to look at the game from this point of view (that ALT players are discriminated against) when I love having the option to play whatever character I feel like today. The idea that some players actually BELIEVE this is some intentional plan by ANet to discourage ALT players is baffling to me….I’ve never heard a decent explanation of WHY ANet would do this or what they have to gain (other than NOT selling more character slots).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
…or you could salvage blues/greens and make a profit…
I don’t think he did all this for Luck (and certainly not for profit….or he failed).
I did read your post and my was intended to point out that you ignoring one of the methods is NOT valid to support your argument. You certainly have every right to disregard RNG drops, just don’t explain WHY and then expect everyone to accept it and agree there is only a SINGLE method to obtain the items.
This is an argument of semantics and I get your point (you want an easier way to get the desired items). I just don’t agree with your reasoning.
The actual solution is to remove the time gating — not work around it for characters vs. accounts. Still waiting to hear why time gating is necessary from ANet (and something more than a cryptic J.Smith half-sentence “answer”).
Why do you think they are going to answer a question that has such an obvious answer? ANet NEEDs time-gating and other methods to generate long term goals that put players in the game EVERY day. It’s the only way they are going to generate any sustained revenue outside of new game sales. Like it or not, it IS the economic model that ANet has chosen for this game.
People are speculating for the December update expecting them to be used like the candy corn.
^THIS^….
…but I have not seen any evidence that the speculation has any foundation (but then I don’t follow Dev feeds or the data-mining feeds at all).
The reason for the “additional” crafting items is due to the lack of traditional weapon type of items. Also, the additional items DO fall into the realm of crafting that an Artificer should be crafting (magical items), so I don’t see the real issue here.
Not sure if Fractal rewards are the answer, but I DO think there needs to be more ways to obtain Dragonite Ore.
How about an NPC that lets you trade one Ascended raw material for another?

I’m not sure exactly what you expect ANet to “solve” as all your issues are connection issue when you use your Cell Network data connection. I’m guessing your carrier throttles large data transfers in some manner and those happen when you load zones in the game.

Ecstasy, If i might suggest something here.
When you check your email in a week, come back here and re-read this entire thread again. Hopefully, you will have a fresh perspective on what transpired here and realize you just MIGHT be slightly at fault for the type of responses you got.
Maybe not.
Per above, only the character that completed the last Achievement that completed the daily (the 5th required achievement) will have access to opening the chest.
Check in your inventory and if you have vial of Karma, you DID open it (and just don’t realize you did).
rng in this game (simplified):
- a random row of values, let’s take numbers(for example 1 100 25 9 89 76 1002 etc.), is attached to character and get’s reset at XY time (daily reset for example); mostlikely you get another row attached after reset
- some numbers represent getting precursor (for example 1002), some numbers represent bad luck basically (for example any number from 1 to 100)
- when you throw stuff in MF, the game goes through function and reads the number from the rng number row that is attached to your account; if the number is right you get precursor, if number is wrong you don’t get itthat is the reason why some ppl get it from 10 tries and some need to do 2000 tries before they get one just because that “lucky” number is located for some people at begin of the row and for some at the end of the row
that said, if you really want good chance for precursor from MF, save as many weapons/mats you need to make one so you can basically do as many tries as possible in short period of time (because of the reset)
keep in mind that that so called rng is obviously affected by different variables as well; for example if you farm too much on one map you get something called loot decay but that is different topic
side note: rng doesn’t really exist in currently used technologies
Posting this as some sort of KNOWN absolute fact is very misleading. Unless you are secretly a Dev for Anet that knows about the programming of the GW2 Server side code, this is just a guess on your part.
I will certainly agree that HOW base seed RNGs are generate for use by the GW2 Server code MAY be subject to some sort of “reset”. This would NOT be (intentionally) tied to any one character or account, but would be a generic, across the board RNG issue. I also don’t disagree that current technology lacks the ability to pull TRUE random number generation off, but that is an issue at the numeric co-processor level of the CPU being used to run the servers and would in no way automatically translate to one character being more lucky than another. That does NOT mean that how this is used by the GW2 Server programming itself could not be effecting the actual RNG in the game.
Ok, so this expected to be added as a salvage option when the Armor is released. Good to know as I was unable to find any info on RABID Intricate Gossamer Insignia from the wiki or GW2spidy.
Sorry if I came off as a jerk (no excuse) but the exceptions in what can and what cannot be crafted (now and in the future) is a bit of a complex issue and I see now why the question is being raised (tho I think assuming ANet will treat Ascended Armor just like the weapons is a decent bet).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
It is working as intended, but yeah, I do agree that perhaps it should be changed so that you can’t use a recipe sheet unless that particular character has that crafting discipline unlocked. Would make it harder to accidentally use the recipe on the incorrect character.
Or just a warning dialog when you use it (“This recipe will now be learned for THIS CHARACTER ONLY”…..blah blah).
Possible reasons why item is not showing up:
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
…..
Why is there time gating in the first place?
……
I’ll try to explain it, but you have to be willing to look at this from a non-player (gimme, gimme, gimme) perspective.
Like the model or not, Anet really does not have a choice with the direction they have chosen (no monthly fees, no current expansions for sale) but to continue to provide content that promotes logging in EVERY day to pursue in game player goals. Good or bad, the plan seems to be working (for now, at least).
Seriously, bragging about your luck in the game is pretty lame. To be honest you are fueling the Conspiracy Theory (hidden luck stat) fires.
Oh okay just confused as to why my home server would be in NA?
Correct me if I’m wrong but YOU chose your home server when you first started playing. Granted, you could have NOT been aware (or paid proper attention) you were picking an NA server, but it is not something ANet chooses for you….it’s your choice.
IT is most likely a PSU or Memory issue despite you having convinced yourself it isn’t. Different programs can require different power draw from the PSU AND stress memory in different ways. I had a similar issue several months ago (but it was Skryim locking up and then generating BSOD). GW2 would play fine for hours on end. I isolated the bad memory stick, replaced it and haven’t had a single issue since (passed multiple memory tests with the BAD DIMM installed as well).
One thing to look at is if the system is set to reset when you get a BSOD and you just are not being able to read the BSOD (that MAY give you an idea of where the problem lies). Windows by default is set to auto reset the system rather than sit at the BSOD (so you can read the error code).
To turn off auto-reset on system error:
Computer > Properties > Adv System Settings > Advanced Tab > Startup and Recovery SETTINGS button > System Failure > uncheck Automatically Restart
Just for grins and giggles, reseat your memory and/or swap the DIMMS and see if the symptoms change. If you have more than one channel filled, try running with only one channel for a while and then swap one of the DIMMs in until you find the bad one.
From a logical standpoint, if GW2 actually had some code issue that made systems shut down, don’t you think there would be more than a few reports of this kind of issue? Note that these types ARE reported regularly (tho not in large numbers) and always end up being hardware failures.
